Replacement of the monitor on Qosmio G20
Hey guys,.
I'm having some trouble with my Qosmio G20 I would appreciate your help on.
In the month of October, I had an accident with my laptop. Basically, I dropped it and that ruins my monitor and optical drive module, monitor protects. Fortunately I had assured him so after £920 and a month, it has been repaired by Toshiba replace all component defective and execution of a comprehensive control system to make sure everything worked.
Just today a thin green/blue line appeared on the site of the left hand of my screen makes me extremely frustrated. The computer has been moved at all to justify a hardware failure. I checked the right graphics card find no problem at all not connected an external monitor) so I think the monitor replaced module was faulty.
Do any of you know if I am eligible for a new free replacement of defective or is monitor - this something else goes terribly wrong with my laptop?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Tony
Hello Tony
In my opinion, you should contact agree that fixed your laptop as soon as possible. Explain the situation and hopefully they will help you. As far as I know that you have a warranty for all new hardware. I don't know how long but the new parts are guaranteed.

Qosmio G20: How to get the higher screen resolution on monitor external 22 "
I have a Qosmio G20 and today I bought a Samsung 226BW the external display. The Samsung has a max resolution / optimal 1680x1050px. The manual SAIS the laptop Toshiba supports a resolution of the external display up to 2048 x 1536...
I tried now all sorts of settings, but the highest resolution I get on the external monitor is 1440 x 900 (-even as the laptop).
1440 x 900 display 22 '' is not enough for serious photo editing;. It seems simply blur. What I am doing wrong? I deeply appreciate answers/comments; because if 1440 x 900 is all I can get, I have to return to the external monitor to the store...
If someone is so good!
Espen.Hello
The available screen resolution depends on the graphics driver. You cannot choose the favorite one from the 1680 x 1050 resolution because it doesn t graphics card driver supports.
Perhaps an update of the graphics driver could help.
By the way; an inf file must be provided by the manufacturer of the monitor. You can install this file right-click and choosing install.

Need advice on creating DVDs - Qosmio G20
Hi all forum members
In recent weeks, I am a happy owner of Qosmio G20. The camera is awesome and I have a lot of fun with it. Now I have the ability to create DVD movies because I Dona ¢ A? Â? t want to plug my cam on television every time if I want to watch the material recorded from my last vacation.
I can connect my cam on the case without problems and can be recognized correctly. The video material is copied on the HARD drive, but when the DVD is created the image quality is very bad (LCD TV). I tried with a few different applications (WinDVD creator, Adobe premiere and Nero Vision Express), but always with the same result.
I'll be very grateful if any of you have experience with the creations of DVD and try to explain to me what can do to make it better.
Thank you
Hello
Could have different reasons:
-Kompression
try to set the MPEG compression at a higher quality (means: larger file size-> better.)-Cables used:
Try to use RGB (SCART, YUV) or cable (aka Hosiden) SVHS instead of Chinch-video (aka FBAS).
Also try to use good quality cables (not only those in the category - 5) here.-Monitor the device (used TV)
Try to see the videos on a common TUBE TV (CRT) (not LCD or Plasma, not even on the tube cathode-pc screens)
On the LCD or PLASMA TV screen you will be self a greater amount of compression artifacts. Please tell me if this solves the problem.

Screen is blank when Qosmio G20 starts up
When I turn on my Qosmio G20-110 I hear the usual chimes and on my LCD backlight lights up but nothing else on the screen.
Any ideas?
Hello
Have you plugged an external monitor to the laptop? Maybe it s something wrong with the display internal and so you can see anything on this subject. It s worth a try because you can check this in a few minutes.
But I guess that it s a hardware problem with the display internal and/or mainboard or something other than your laptop must be verified in professional people, they can disassemble the laptop and exchanging parts of equipment.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest service provider authorized good luck!
Welcome them

Utilities for the Qosmio G20 147
Hello to everyone out there in the land of awareness Qosmio G20. I'm new to the scene of the computer that I bought last week a (my first)! I just want to know if there is any small utilities or programs that exist? For monitoring of the battery or system utility back or a numLocks?
I use PDAs for the last fifteen years and with them leaving a few small utilities.
Regards frankiewizard.Hello Franklin
It is very nice to hear that you have decided to buy this laptop fantastic. For me, is a bit too expensive and I buy used a one day. A friend of mine has one and I'm very impressed.
On this unit are preinstalled many different tools and I recommend you to carefully read the user manuals and pick up information on the features. As far as I know battery monitoring is possible with the tool. With this tool, you can control the use of the battery and save a lot of energy if you use a device in battery mode.
Toshiba has designed tool system back up is unknown to me, but you can use the built-in Windows tools (tool to backup and restore and restore system perhaps tool).

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20-114 that no longer starts. No display.
It turns on, the fan starts and you can hear the movement of HARD drive, but there is no display (not even if I plug in an external monitor).
It was Windows XP. All of a sudden stopped working for no apparent warning, no blue screen or the warning signs.
When I turn on the laptop I get a few lights on the keyboard space. (The light above the icon of TV, two lights and the light above the icon for media player, the power button just below the arrows)
I was surfing the internet all day for a solution and tried most of the workarounds proposed, for example; Take the battery and the charger out, leave for 10 minutes and then only replace the charger and try to switch on. Also; Remove a strip of RAM (and trade) and remove all the RAM. Still no luck, however.
I had an internal beep of her, but only once, it was 3 Quick beeps. Nothing since.
I'm willing to try any suggestion, although I like to keep the files on the HARD drive because of family photos and which do not.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
A frustrated user of Toshiba.

I think your problem is not how to save data to the HARD drive. You can remove the HARD drive and connect it to the other laptop using the 2.5 external HARD drive enclosure.
HARD drive will be recognized as external device and you should have full access to all stored data.
Do this if possible. On this virtual path it is not possible to provide an accurate diagnosis and to say with certainty what can be the problem, but I assume that the LCD is maybe defective.
Start your laptop and wait a while. Connect your laptop to an external device, and then try to use the FN + F5 key combination. Just to see if you will be able to switch between mode of laptops LCD and external monitor.

Qosmio G20-115: TV Tuner missing 1 or 2 channels
Hello
Our qosmio g20 tv tuner missing 1 or 2 channels, I would understand if he did not get the channel with bad reception on our normal tv, but the channel is missing is one of the clearest of cases.
I did the scan twice and still no luck.
We have come an antenna on the roof and its been verified by a proffesional person and is in perfect order.Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?
In this forum, I see many people who have problems with the reception of the G20.
I can watch all English channels, but the quality is very poor.If you use the G20 as a desktop like me, forget the G20 tv tuner and buy a freeview box (35-40 pounds).
"I get wonderful images of a free box satellite with a satellite dish, via s-video-in port"
and also, wonderful images of a "digital terrestrial DTT box" with a normal antenna, via the "monitor-in port.If the antenna works fine with digital transmissions that are notoriously more difficult
to receive, it would be essential to correctly receive analog transmissions and, in my case, this is true for a normal TV,
but it is not true with the G20 TV card!Is possible that you need an adapter "SCART to RCA", depending on what output a your decoder.
I can jump a decoder / to another using the utility:
"All the programs/TOSHIBA/utilities/image Enhancement Utility.
then I click on: 'Parameter input monitor' and I can choose: "Monitor-in" or "S-video-in.The G20 is a wonderful machine with a beautiful screen, but in my opinion, he has a weak tv card.
Good bye

Qosmio G20 - could not get the video to display on the LCD screen
I have a laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20, running Windows XP MCE.
The DVD player on board isn't sounds very well so I thought I would plug an external DVD drive to expand its use. After a lot of internet research, I finally found how to do this. Here's my setup.
Using the monitor port I used the adapter 3 RCA jacks. (There is no S-video on the DVD drive and an adapter did not work). I finally discovered that in order to get the image on the screen, I have to use Fn + 4. Now, here's where I'm having the problem. I can't get the video to display on my external LCD. FN + 5 didn't do. The monitor is an I - inc AH191D and is connected by VGA cable. There is no driver other than the one for the VISTA operating system... That is why it is not anywhere in the Device Manager.
Here are the settings I use in order to have all that shows on my desk, shows on the monitor. In Control Panel open to the screen. Properties
Number chosen 1 - multiple monitors GeForce Go6600 video card...
Advanced under
the GeForce G06600 tab,
nViewDisplay Mode: clone 1 a 1 b
The main screen: digital flat screen
Secondary display: AH191I also tried using the properties of controls on Toshiba. He says under TV output TV output but gives options of the program, but I don't know what I would use. Any ideas out there?
Wait I'm confused, if you try to send the output of your external DVD drive in the laptop, and then display the image on an external monitor attached to laptop?
If you use the DVD player on your laptop, it will be good quality S-video as a signal of low resolution.
Is there something wrong with the DVD player?
If it's just the DVD software you don't like, you can download other DVD players. PowerDVD is excellent, its better than WinDVD and other players in my opinion.

You must install the Toshiba, Toshiba Bluetooth nvidia display driver (monitor and stack), driver Toshiba flash media, toshiba RAID texas (drivers and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.Below some pictures of my desktop of the G20 screen:

Vertical pink line on Qosmio G20 LCD
Hello all,.
The screen of my Qosmio G20 was displaying a pink vertical line (exactly 1 pixel width) whenever it returns a long out-of-State (i.e. at startup, wake up from hibernation, etc...). The line persists for only a few seconds to gradually disappear the transition by means of green (and maybe white) before to do so. It is also worth noting that the pink line does not appear on his return from a short off the coast of the State.
Unfortunately I do not have external screens on hand to test if it's a hardware or software problem, so I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced this before or pink line if there is a clear diagnosis for her (I suspect material myself but...).

Lee.Hello
Seems your equipment malfunctions but it s, not easy to say what's wrong without a detailed test.
Everything is there, we can provide suggestions only.
Of course, it s might be the graphics chip to malfunction, but I wouldn't say that this s REALLY a graphics card failure. The connection to an external monitor would be useful to provide some additional suggestions...
However, you will definitely need assistance service guys because I don t what you'll be able to fix it yourself.

Impossible to get an image of a VHS player plugged into Qosmio G20
Hello! Would be glad if someone could help me on the following:
Got laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20
I can't get an image from a DVD player plugged in. I installed the VHS player in accordance with the manual of PC through the Monitor socket and the cable supplied. There is also an interesting note in the Manual: "before installing any device via the monitor-in port, you should give the Terminal Shape (form of sleeve) parameter. But there is nothing said about how or where this setting needs to be done.
Help! PLEASE, I BEG YOU! My stupidity is embarrassing!
Thanks in advance!Cool, thanks for the info.
But it would also be very interesting to know how you managed it.
Thanks for posting the solution -
If your Qosmio G20 I slow->; check your fan!
Hello
I found my Qosmio G20 to be incredibly slow, especially in the e/s (HDD) operations and also in games.
Games like CS, Battlefield 2, etc got very low fps, I tried to reinstall the OS, new drivers, detonator, tweaking drivers drivers and finally I installed Vista.
Of course, I thought that vista would improve performance and there are no, however only at this stage, I accepted that this laptop is quite obvious horrible for game purposes, which I thought was kind of weird, because she is a "multimedia" with 2 GB ram, 200 GB raid-0, 2.13 ghz pentium m laptop geforce go6600.
I know the 6600 is not high-end, but it should support the cs: s, etc.
A few days ago, my laptop suddenly turned off while I woke up in the morning (I let it run 24/7).
Then on Friday, he started the turn off self while working on it: SIt's when I installed a HW monitoring tool and saw that the CPU had a temperature of 111 degrees celsius!
I swapped the battery of performance profile to save battery and it has lowered to 106 degrees celsius. Now, I'll just send the laptop to the service, such as when it was purchased 3 years extended warranty, as well as the on-site repair has been paid for.
I was however unable to get contact with support on Friday.
In any case, you fan might be bad, even if it does not vibrate.I'd install HW monitor tools if you get the same symptoms, very slow, slow IO uninstalls, installs, etc. Especially under Vista.
Hey Olav Alexander
Thanks for this information
You are right. Qosmio G20 is a portable high quality with great performance. I tested this unit and played a lot of games. The performance of the game were lavish; I didn't notice the intermissions of any graphic or speedThat's why I think he had a problem with your laptop hardware, as you say the temperature has risen to critical levels and this can be caused by the defective cooling module. The performance of the computer laptop and games down automatically if the temperature is too high because the CPU can't run at full speed. It is a normal state.
I guess after the fan replacement or cleaning, the laptop must be running as should be.
Don t worry dude the technician will perform a work ;) -
Transfer music and editing on Qosmio G20
Hi, I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20-139
I have a problem with the monitor. If I want to use it to connect to other devices such as mp3 or tape recorder to transfer music or tracks to the computer laptop and more later edited, to the to do, I open WinDvd Creator and even then I can only hear the sound, but there is no save option.
I put t understand why I open windvd creator in the background to get the working port, but once again I can t record what I am listening to.
In SigmaTel interface there is no slides for the monitor, only mute and solo button, is this correct? And the monitor in the slide is grayed out (not available) in the volume control section.
When I press the button that does nothing except beep and the blue light comes on, the button is assigned to the screen.
I used the correct cables and read the manual and the user manual online, but it is not really clear.
Also, I put the eleven buttons always on which is mode 2 in the BIOS but I don't have the first two buttons at any time (buttons of tv and dvd) and the rest are turned off except when I touch them. Yet once is that correct or it just me.
Thank you for your help.
Aiman
Hello
Unfortunately I'm not an expert, but if you want to do it on the professional way you should use an external audio device (USB connection) and transfer all the things you need. All documents saved on your HARD drive, you can change with different applications.
I think that WinDvd Creator is not the right option to upload music. By the way: How do connect you the external device when you wrote I used the correct cables?
