Qosmio G20 - screen dim on one half

When I turn the brightness down on my screen on the left side of the screen fades more than the rest. Its really noticeable. One side of the white screen is white, but on the other hand, looks like a dim gray.

Is this normal when brightness is rejected in full, because when the brightness is enough it seems level across the screen. Or is it a sign that the screen is endangered?

I only have the g20 since average Feb.

Hello

I agree with Ben. It is not normal that half of the screen has less contrast or even more. In my opinion contact you your local or authorized dealer same service partner. You can find the address on http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

Good bye

    Hello

I think display of the G20 should be compatible with the Qosmio G10 display.
I searched a bit and found that the Qosmio G10-100 PQG10E was fitted with the 17 "WIDE XGA LCD.
The Qosmio G20-101 PQG20E supports the same 17 "WIDE XGA display.

Therefore, it seems that both units use the same screen.

    Hello

I recommend checking out Toshiba's energy saver.
Select your power mode and check the action of setting parameters.
Please check the settings of the alarm level.
You should take a look also on the basic settings. There, you can control the brightness of the screen.
Please keep in mind that the device uses patterns of Toshiba power saver in the Windows power options properties.

  • Qosmio G20: How to get rid of the large green volume screen?

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G20 I bought at the Japan last year and have since changed drivers and English operating system. However one thing ive noticed, distinguished by the Japanese put in place, it is that whenever I adjust the Volume level by using the wheel on the right side of the laptop, a large green level Volume display appears on the screen. I want to get rid of this cos it takes place close to half of the screen. The Japanese version had this problem.

I checked all the settings in the Panel and the various sections of both properties but couldn't find anything.

Suggestions how to remove it? Qosmio users have this on their screen?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Berga is right. This volume indication disappears shortly after.

  • Qosmio G20 - could not get the video to display on the LCD screen

I have a laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20, running Windows XP MCE.

The DVD player on board isn't sounds very well so I thought I would plug an external DVD drive to expand its use. After a lot of internet research, I finally found how to do this. Here's my setup.

Using the monitor port I used the adapter 3 RCA jacks. (There is no S-video on the DVD drive and an adapter did not work). I finally discovered that in order to get the image on the screen, I have to use Fn + 4. Now, here's where I'm having the problem. I can't get the video to display on my external LCD. FN + 5 didn't do. The monitor is an I - inc AH191D and is connected by VGA cable. There is no driver other than the one for the VISTA operating system... That is why it is not anywhere in the Device Manager.
Here are the settings I use in order to have all that shows on my desk, shows on the monitor.

In Control Panel open to the screen. Properties
Number chosen 1 - multiple monitors GeForce Go6600 video card...
    Advanced under
    the GeForce G06600 tab,
    nViewDisplay Mode: clone 1 a 1 b
The main screen: digital flat screen
    Secondary display: AH191

I also tried using the properties of controls on Toshiba. He says under TV output TV output but gives options of the program, but I don't know what I would use. Any ideas out there?

Wait I'm confused, if you try to send the output of your external DVD drive in the laptop, and then display the image on an external monitor attached to laptop?

If you use the DVD player on your laptop, it will be good quality S-video as a signal of low resolution.

Is there something wrong with the DVD player?

If it's just the DVD software you don't like, you can download other DVD players. PowerDVD is excellent, its better than WinDVD and other players in my opinion.

  • Qosmio G20-127: failure to screen after closing the lid on Vista

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G20-127 and I recently installed Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I managed to put everything in its place (except the magic buttons, but the drivers are not on yet), but I have a problem that makes me seriously reconsider coming back to XP MCE.

When I close the lid of my computer, the screen turns off of course, but when I open again, it does not turn, but it stays black. And I can't turn it on again no matter what. I have to turn off the entire computer and it is quite unrealistic.

Funny is that after a restart for about 20-30 minutes, I can open and close the lid normally, but the same problem occurs after a bit more time to work on the computer.
The problem persists even though I disabled everything remotely connected to the closing of the cover.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hello English

Try you update the BIOS on the VISTA OS?

I can imagine you will always find something new and unusual, but please note that Vista is not supported by the OS for Qosmio G20 (Vista drivers are not available on the Toshiba download page) and you can expect that from time to time, you will discover new disturbing behavior.

I recommend you to install and configure Vista as described in the topic of s Francisco, configure OS for your needs, and be happy if you use Vista without any serious problems. In my opinion, for OS installation and configuration software Qosmio is Toshiba laptop more complicated template, and you will never be able to configure it as a supported and preinstalled WXP MCE. Commands supported are tested and bugs are fixed, but not with Vista on Qosmio G20.

Sorry my friend. Sounds stupid, but maybe that's just the truth. By the way: I like Qosmio G20. Maybe I'll buy one if the price is Ok.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio g20 - best replacement screen?

    Hello

My lcd screen has lines running down it (different colors) and is wide right vertically blurred 2inches in the middle.

Now I'd like replace the LCD 17 inches but theres more than 1 part number to pass.
    I have reference numbers

    LG Philips LP171WP3
    N170C1-L02

both are WXGA + 1440 X 900 display, SUPER HIGHBRIGHT (BRILLIANT) XBRIGHT.

    So which one to buy?

    Thank you

Well, the replacement of the screen is a costly affair!
The LCD is one of the more expensive parts of portable (apart from the motherboard) then maybe you should make a choice between a party of second hand and the new screen. If you wanted to buy a new screen and then you would have a new warranty but it s more expensive. On the other hand; no little cheaper warranty

A new LCD can be ordered from the ASP in your country. I also found this site useful:

  • Qosmio G20: How to get the higher screen resolution on monitor external 22 "

I have a Qosmio G20 and today I bought a Samsung 226BW the external display. The Samsung has a max resolution / optimal 1680x1050px. The manual SAIS the laptop Toshiba supports a resolution of the external display up to 2048 x 1536...

I tried now all sorts of settings, but the highest resolution I get on the external monitor is 1440 x 900 (-even as the laptop).
1440 x 900 display 22 '' is not enough for serious photo editing;. It seems simply blur.

What I am doing wrong? I deeply appreciate answers/comments; because if 1440 x 900 is all I can get, I have to return to the external monitor to the store...

    If someone is so good!
    Espen.

    Hello

The available screen resolution depends on the graphics driver. You cannot choose the favorite one from the 1680 x 1050 resolution because it doesn t graphics card driver supports.

Perhaps an update of the graphics driver could help.

By the way; an inf file must be provided by the manufacturer of the monitor. You can install this file right-click and choosing install.

  • Gray glittering color screen on Qosmio G20-120

    Hello
I have a problem very confusing with my new Qosmio G20 - 120.
I can see vague and wink on my screen when the brightness is set to 2 or 3 levels under the maximum, and the background of the display is set to dark grey (or other color non-black)
This effect disappears when the brightness of the display is set up, but you know, I can't work with the maximum brightness all the time, because my eyes get tired very quickly in this case, especially in the evening.
I saw the other G - Series 17 "notebooks and noticed the same problem.
Is it possible hardware problem or this is common for Qosmio 17 "poster?

    Hello

I never heard the show. The fact is that you can change the brightness of the screen on many laptops Toshiba, but I've never heard or seen of wave or nod to the screen. I m not sure if it s only your vision or it s a really a display error (FL-UPS).
If you are not sure of the fault, then take the unit to your local dealer or contact the service of Toshiba.

  • Screen is blank when Qosmio G20 starts up

    Hello

Have you plugged an external monitor to the laptop? Maybe it s something wrong with the display internal and so you can see anything on this subject. It s worth a try because you can check this in a few minutes.

But I guess that it s a hardware problem with the display internal and/or mainboard or something other than your laptop must be verified in professional people, they can disassemble the laptop and exchanging parts of equipment.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest service provider authorized good luck!

  • Qosmio G20 - spot on the screen

Coffee was spilled on my Qosmio G20 yesterday, my first reaction was to try to keep out of the keyboard and PCB below, but this resulted in a few enter the screen leaving a stain on the left hand side (the region is actually brighter than the rest of the screen).

Are there instructions anywhere on the disassembly of the screen as I wonder whether to go inside and try to clean this area or just live with it.

I have no Toshiba dealers anywhere near me and that you do not want to send the laptop away for several weeks.

    Martin

    Hello

The spilled liquid is still a serious problem.
But it seems you're a lucky guy and the liquid doesn't damage the motherboard and integrated circuits.

In any case, I would not recommend opening the laptop itself. Looks like you haven t a lot of experience with these procedures.
It s always risky to disassemble the laptop. The chances are high that you damage to other parts.

Finally, you must know that you will lose the warranty if you disassemble the laptop itself.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G20-117: bad pixels on the screen and the CD rom does not work

    Hello

I have a problem with the computer hardware. I got a Qosmio G20-117 and you have a problem with the cdrom and the screen. Got bad pixels on the screen, and cdrom does not work. I live in the United Kingdom, so I tried signing up to them to choose the computer before the computer is out of warranty.

Whenever I register, it says sorry, an unexpected error has occurred, please try again later. I have tried at least 20 times since yesterday and it doesn't seem to work. I have them even called and they told me, the service is stopped and will be fixed this morning but yet nothing works.

    Any solution?

    Hello

If you want to contact Toshiba service partner in your country then why you don't call them?
Toshiba page you will find the database with all service providers in the world.
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=true

I don't think that you need to register something apart from the serial number of your laptop. But in my opinion this could also be done at the point of service.

  • Qosmio G20 has white LCD diplsay. OK when it is used with screen external en

I hope someone can help. Qosmio G20 has full white LCD.
The backlamps are on and the laptopworks fine when used with screen external fr.
I guess it's probably the motherboard, any ideas?

Most people would say that if it worked, say, a couple of days and you can't even start on your LCD screen, then the screen or its cable or mobo circuit feeding the LCD failed.

I had this on another laptop too, and Toshiba are not something so special that this kind of thing is not generally a valid diagnosis.
