Qosmio G20 - Slot Type DVD Writer does not in all disks

I have a PC laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20.

Problem: My DVD player is a slot type. I can't insert any CD/DVD disc even if I can push the disc inside full inside the drive, the drive does not it because it comes out as if I push the drive against a spring.

But when I try to insert a disc in the drive while the system is turned on, it detects the insertion of media & power ups system to read the media, but still should not be in all drives.

Is this a defect in the DVD drive & I can fix it or I have to go to a new?
Is this a software or hardware failure or any other?

I'll appreciate your answers fast & friendly.

> Is that a defect in the DVD drive & I can fix it or I have to go for a new?
> Is this a software or hardware failure or any other?
I think it s a hardware problem.
But just a question; are you able to boot from a boot disk?

If not then this could be really a hardware problem and in this case, that the CD/DVD drive needs to be replaced in most cases, it s not possible to repair the STRANGE old the STRANGE old will be replaced by a new one

Welcome them

  • DVD writer does not recognize 'NEW' blank DVD - r (Windows XP)

    Hello

I have a question that has been annoying me a lot during the last few weeks, as follows...

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 computer is running Windows XP service pack 3, it has a cd/DVD burner in this model (HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GWA4164B), I used to be able to burn CDs and DVDs fine, so please respond with lol 'maybe your drive doesn't burn DVDs' as you can see in the model # it's a DVD +-RW drive.

But my problem is the following... for some reason the DVD burner does not detect the 'NEW' blank DVD - R, there is no problem of detection of blank CD - R disc and I can burn fine on the CD - R. But for some reason it does not detect blank DVD?

When I put one in the drive, I don't get the popup asking what I want to do etc, or to go to WORKSTATION and look a the drive it shows no media present.

I have Nero Platinum 15 installed in my burning software, which has a function of DISK INFORMATION, which also shows that 'no disk in drive '.

    I have re installed Nero...

I uninstalled the drive and re installed

Re, I installed the latest drivers for Dell Optiplex

I bought a second axis of new blank DVDs

I took out what I left little hair!

Can someone provide me with a fix for this problem? ANY help is GREATLY appreciated guys!

CD/DVD players use different lasers for reading/writing DVD from the CD.  All indications would point to your laser DVD as having failed.  You could try to remove your drive and install it in another computer to see if the problem follows your player or your computer, but my bet is that the drive must be replaced.

  • Qosmio G20 - blue Volume Indication bar does not work under Vista

    Hey guys,.

would really appreciate your help on this. 2 days ago I decided to upgrade my laptop Qosmio G20 for vista (I know I don't need to hear all the problems of Vista, but I had to do). in any case, after a lot of problems (missing drivers, windows known glitches etc), I managed to get it up and running again. At least it's functions.

All Toshiba equipment are missing because they are not compatible with vista. I found the drivers of replacement etc. and solved most of the problems. I have not yet solved the blue volume indication bar inoperative led, located just on the right side of the touch pad. It s simply stating an indication of fake volume and its not changing at all with any volume control. The green on the screen volume bar is also missing.

Any of you have any idea how to solve the problems?

    Thank you very much

    Anthony

    Hello Anthony

I assume that you have already noticed the Qosmio G20 isn t that supported by Vista. So I can believe you had problems to find all the missing stuff, but if the Vista works well now you should not focus on the little things.
Exact managed and controlled by Toshiba designed tools and utility functions.
If they are not available, I have gift opportunity see t to solve this problem.

  • At 60: DVD writer does not write on DVD

    Hello.
    I have a toshiba dvd - rom sd-r6112 A60.
It reads CDs and DVDs perfectly also burns CD.

    Problem:
When you try to burn iso image dvd with either (nero, recordnow, alcohol, etc), the percentage indicator has reached 100% and says burn has been successful. But the dvd is still blank. It seems that nothing has changed. Trying to verify burned data will fail because nothing on the dvd set. (not done im test mode :-)

    Please help me.

    [Edited by: admin August 7 05 16:20]

    Hi witne

First of all I think that it is not recommended to use multiple burning applications because it is possible that some of them are getting in the other. Try to use one of them. I always use Nero burning software and I had no problem at all.

If you use burning software Nero, I see possible two reasons for your question:
    1. you must enable high compatibility mode that allows you to burn data and small then 1 GB
    2. check the option called simultaneous. It must be disabled and enable the option just burning

If these options don't help t, please write again.

    Good bye

  • Since the reinstall drivers, my LG DVD writer does not read DVD

Original title: LG ELECTRONICS LG GSA T40N Super Multi DVD IDE burner

I had to re - install the drivers on this drive and then I noticed that there is more to read the DVD. This drive will now appear as a CD-ROM read only by car. When I tried to roll back the driver, the option was not available. Re-installing the drivers did not help and when I went to the LG site the disc has been abandoned and no support was available.

How can I get this drive to read DVDs? What is the problem with the drivers that I have updated to what makes them to record the album as a CD-ROM drive?

In the run box, type: regedit, and then click OK

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E3

    25-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

With the right button of the upper filters button, if necessary, and then click 'remove '. Click on the Yes"" button.

Click the lower filters key, if present and click 'delete '. Click on the Yes"" button.

Close the registry editor and restart your computer.

    Hello

There are two possible reasons why you are not able to copy anything to the CD or DVD.

First, it may be possible that the drives used are not entirely compatible.
In such cases, it s always advisable to test different CD and DVD from different manufacturers.

Secondly, the issue could be related to a defective laser lens; in many cases, this can happen because of a physical constraint. If the laser lens can not calibrate in a good position, then the player will not be able to handle the inserted discs.
This could be the worst case, because this issue is not repairable. Just a STRANGE replacement could help.

    ==========================================================

    After the foregoing:

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry settings for your
CD/DVD drive someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays
all devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

    I hope this helps.
