Qosmio G30-140 - cannot adjust the brightness of the screen on Windows 7
I installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio G30-140, but I can't adjust the brightness settings.
Instead of allowing me to place the cursor on any position, I want that I'm stuck with only 3 steps which elect to.
The last of them is way to bright and my eyes keep tear having to deal with this crazy amount of white, especially on white background.
The other two are very, very dark.
What is going on? I installed the right Nvidia drivers.
Also, I can't adjust the brightness using the FN keys on my keyboard. They simply produce no result at all.
Need help appreciated, I can't work like this.
The brightness of the display can be controlled by the FN + F7 and Fn + F6.
I think you should install the VAP and buttons of the Support of Flash memory card utility in order to get this to work!
Check the added value Package and Support Flash Card which are released for Satellite L500 utility or new models of laptops.
In my case it worked!
I tried to reset the setting on my resolution for my windows monitor XP WITH SP1, boots upwards in mode 4 by default bits. I'm under System 32 and before I tried to download updates for SP2, WAS in MEASURE of HAVING 16 BIT COLOR, cannot adjust the screen resolution, it is locked on 640 x 820. How can I fix it?
What Dell? Dimension? OptiPlex? Inspiron? Others? In the meantime, I'm looking to see if there is only a single 2300.
You just do a new installation of a Windows CD?
If you have, you will need to install all the drivers concerned material, including graphics drivers.
Click on start, run, then type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER. In Device Manager there devices not identified or marked as having a problem (marked with!)?
1. I have a Qosmio G30
2 operating system Windows XP MCE
and I have problem "white lines on the screen ' when windows start to load after that I got the"blue screen of death"and restart the computer.
I try to get back, but unfortunately came with the laptop recovery CD doesn't seem to work...
Whenever I finished to recover I have "windows loading files" and once this is done, it shows me the so-called "blue screen of death"...
I m afraid. I have bad news for you ;(
I think you ve you have a problem with the hardware in my eyes, there might be something wrong with the GPU chip.
The white lines on the screen could be related to a faulty graphics card and get the BSOD error due to a hardware malfunction or software serious questions
I m sure that the recovery CD does not contain software problems and therefore only the fault of hardware could be the reason for the lines on the screen and the BSOD.
In my opinion, you should contact the ASP in your country for assistance if all goes well you guarantee is valid.
I recently bought the Qosmio G30-161 and have problems with watching TV via the media library. I get an error message that there is no signal. However another TV tuner I installed separately I'm not having any problems.
I read somewhere that this could be solved by installing the last disc of tv tuner. If anyone can confirm this? If Yes, when I try to download the player from Toshiba online support, which comes in a file zip, after extracting it I don't see an option to install it.
The second TV tuner installed on your Qosmio?
Have you tested to receive TV signals without the second tuner but only with Qosmio internal tuner?
I have a qosmio G30 on the white parts of the screen were pink pixel in them as well as purple pink pixels around parts.
In reading the various posts, I have eliminated the graphics chip/card that I can get a perfect image on an external display. The laptop is out of warranty and also out of the extra year for graphics problems, so I tried to fix it myself. I tried all of the solutions below and none have worked.
I wonder if anyone could give me any other things to try.
I've updated the BIOS and the display driver - no change.
I then replaced the motherboard to the LCD connection with a new cable - no change.
And finally, I have replaced the LCD screen with a new - again no change.
-Always works fine on an external monitor.
Any ideas or suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thank you very much
I think you're talking about dead pixels.
Would this be possible?
The problem of dead pixels has nothing to do with the graphics card but it s a display problem.
So I was wondering why this problem persists after the LCD has been replaced
Maybe a Toshiba laptop technician should verify and test parts of the hardware to make sure what part could be the problem exactly
I have a little problem with the installation of recovery.
After installing Windows I don't have the graphic card installed and is not everything, I can't turn on bluetooth because the computer cannot install it. New form of drivers Toshiba do not change it's the same thing. If I install the graphics card, the info is this graphics card was not found. Bluetooth installation always hangs in the middle. All the original drivers are on the disk, but I can not install them. All I get is a "controller VGA with one?" in Device Manager.
Normally, everything must be installed correctly after using the Toshiba Recovery disk but before trying to update a driver, you must remove the old driver first. So, go to Control Panel-Add/Remove programs online and remove the old driver and reboot the laptop. You can then install the latest driver on the Toshiba site.
In the worst case, there is something wrong with the motherboard and you must go to an authorized service provider, but first try the new drivers.
I just bought a SATELLITE L855-118, with ATI graphics card today, it was between this and another of them, but I know that you have problems updating graphics drivers on a portable Sony.
I did a restore point.
So I uninstalled the ATI catalyst graphics card and then did a sweeper driver and rebooted and then installed catalyst 12.6, installed fine, but my screen went to the maximum brightness and I can't adjust, BRIGHTNESS osd is displayed but the brightness of the screen does not change.
So I used my restore point.
This time I crushed the catalyst 8.9 with 12.6 stock, still cannot adjust the brightness.
Someone knows how to solve this problem.
My spec full in the link below.
You mean that you can not use the Fn or Fn + F6, F7 button combination?
Do other combination works properly?
Also check this doc:
There is a brightness.zip that installs the additional registry key
I m using the Pavilion 15-r004ne on a windows 64-bit OS 8.1 and I cannot adjust the brightness of my screen. I tried to adjust by shortcut keys F2 and F3, tried adjusting via the mobility Center, tried through Control Panel and so on, but no response until now. It shows the little pop-up when I press the keys. But nothing has changed, the brightness of the display remains the same. in order to get solution soon.
Thank you for your support. It didn't work either. I solved the problem of roll back the driver and update again.
I have recentlly installed win 7 rc on my G530 and I cannot adjust the brightness and more. I have download the hotkey driver features that now allows me to adjust the volume and everything but the screen brightness... y at - it a specific driver, I need to download for this? Thank you.
Nevermind I solved this isue. I have download Lenovo Hotkey features and executed the file as administrator with Vista compatibility mode:

I have the sound problem. I formatted my laptop and everything was fine, but the sound does not work.
I checked all noise related in my laptop, it was beautiful, but the sound does not work.
I downloaded the sound on the net and also the sound still not working!
How can I solve this problem?
My laptop model is Toshiba Qosmio G30-140
> I formatted my laptop and everything was fine...
This means that you have installed the operating system using the original facilities Toshiba disc?
Sound card recognized and listed correctly in the Device Manager?
Make sure that the MUTE option is NOT selected.
Make sure that the volume level is not set to the minimum level.
I just bought a Toshiba Qosmio G30-140 of second hand. It has 2 hard drives and I tried to install windows 7 with great difficulty due to the raid driver... I managed to cmplete installation and travels account that half the utilities would not work in compatibility mode... Solution, I decided to re install the original Windows XP Media Center Edition, as I didn't have the original disks, I had many days of trial and error downloading different versions to work on my system... FINALLY, I GOT THE RIGHT ONE...
Here's my question:
I want to set up my machine to use the 2 drives in RAID mirror in case of data corruption, although I tried to install the RAID utility using the restore disc, I had created before embarking on this mission - suicidal
IT WILL NOT BE INSTALLED, AND CONTINUES TO GIVE ME THE SAME ERROR OVER AND OVER AGAIN, EVEN IF I AM LOGGED ON ADMINISTRATOR
error message is "("TOSHIBA RAID Service"Service [kraidsvc] could start. Make sure that sufficient privelages to start the services.) »
I'm stuck and tried a lot of combinations, different and re-installed the OS twice, I am an administrator and possess these privelages. HELP :((
Installing the RAID driver could solve this problem...
Also, I guess you used the right RAID settings in the BIOS.
As far as I know, you can change the RAID option in the BIOS on the last page (3-3)
RAID0 means stripping and RAID1 mirror you want to use.
After changing the RAID parameters, you must confirm this insert the string 1,2,3,4 and enter.
But note; After changing this you will need new OS install
I installed Windows 8 on my L855 Satellite and it is running pretty well except that I can not adjust the screen brightness. I have updated all drivers for win 8, but it does not solve the problem.
Hope someone can help me! Thank you!!
Can you do this using the settings in some diet plan?
I have a compressed HPEnvy X 2 running Win8. I connect it to a projector of data via a HDMI/VGA adapter. In order to get the projector to display properly, I have to change the screen resolution of salvation to the lowest. I pinned control panel display icon on the desktop to make this need more quickly, but it is yet to click in it, select res screen adjust etc. Is it possible to have an icon in the Notification area that will put in place the 2 resolutions and I would change it in a single click? Moreover, the system displays for the data projector, but says that it cannot find a second screen, so I don't think that I can set permanently hi res for the main and weak wreck for the 2nd monitor
Area the notification provides notifications and status. Well-designed programs use the appropriately, without being annoying or distracting notification area. You can not adjust the resolution of the screen to a notification area.
I suggest you try the steps from the following link how to change the resolution of the screen on Windows 8.0
Get the best display on your monitor (set your monitor to its native resolution)
