Qosmio G30-175: DVD player - RAM, it's a CD player

Hello people, I once again.

My 2 week old Qosmio G30 - 175 has a DVD-RAM drive that now appears in my computer as a CD player. As a result (I think) it will not automatically DVD playback. I can play manually through the media library or WMP, but no option does appear in the properties of the drive for auto, DVD playback.

Can someone tell me why this happened? It is used to appear as a DVD - RAM drive. The only thing I did was to install Nero Premium. Who would have something to do with it?

Thank you very much.

Hello

Some people here in the forum have had problems with burning and DVD recognition because the different burning applications were installed on the operating system.
Try to remove the other burning software and use only Nero.

The dvd player won't play or even say that there is a disc please help

    Hi Paul

Your message is very short and you don t provide all the details, but I will try to provide the answer to a problem.
First of all, this looks like a hardware problem. I mean the lens of the drive cannot calibrate in the right position and would have problems.
In this case the player would not be able to manage different CDs or DVDs.

But first, you should try this
Access to the registry and try to remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After this withdrawal, restart the computer.

I read that this accelerated procedure to solve the different CD/DVD drive problem.

But if you will not be successful then a hardware problem is possible and only a replacement of drives could help.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-175 and I need raid driver so I can install Windows 7. My operating system is XP and on Toshiba-home page, I can't find the driver.

    Hello!

Have you ever tried the Vista driver? If this isn't the case, you need to test, because most of the Vista drivers are also work on Windows 7.

  • Looked for a driver updated - should I all? Qosmio G30-175

Hello people, new user here Toshiba.
Last week, I bought a Qosmio G30-175. After an installation of Bluetooth problem, all right.
I updated the BIOS updated today v1.70 (even if the version of Windows would not work)!
I thought I'd do a search updates of pilot and I find 86 updates appear!
Someone could tell me if all of these updates are only available for use, or my laptop especially requires all these updates?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    What? 86 drivers?
Are you sure? I checked the driver Toshiba Qosmio G30 - 175 page (PQG30E) and found only 50 drivers for Windows XP MCE.
But two entries in the list of 50 drivers! For example there are 2 BIOS, 2 LAN drivers, different modem drivers, etc. listed.

In the installation instructions document, you must install only the drivers and utilities that are listening. This guide line is important and if you install the Toshiba drivers manually, you should follow this guide line.

You will also find the document in the section of the driver

    Hi mate

I think I have bad news for you.
According to your description the graphics card chip begins to malfunction, and I think you have only one chance to solve this problem; the defective part must be replaced!

I would recommend so contact the nearest authorized service partner in your country and ask for later handling.

Sorry mate but it isn't alternative :(

  • Qosmio G30-175: why the properties system tell Media Center 2002 and not 2005?

    Hello

I have a qosmio g30-175, it says on the sticker of the authentication windows on my laptop computer Media center 2005, the problem is that when I check the system properties in Control Panel, it says units media center 2002 SP2. I find it confusing, Toshiba gave me the wrong version, or is it quite normal.

I installed windows by using the recovery disk of the product came with my computer.

    Thank you.

Don't worry man. Everything is ok! You have a MCE 2005 version

You have simply checked versions MCE in the wrong way!
If you want to check the MCE versions open media center, click on "settings", then click "about media center". The version of MCE will appear.

What you're watching now is the version of XP/OS. The XP is the Foundation for MCE. ;)

  • Qosmio G30 HD-DVD (PQ31): updated Value Added Package

I wonder if anyone has noticed this. They offer a value-added package update dated 08/01/2008 my Qosmio G30 HD - DVD (PQ31). The file reference is vap - 20080108132320.zip. I downloaded and installed the utilities contained in the compressed file, but now when I boot my laptop with Vista Ultimate, what follows are reported as incompatible with my version of the system: Toshiba Power Saver, Toshiba zooming Utility, Toshiba Wireless Hotkeys utility, Toshiba Raid Utility, controls of Toshiba, Toshiba Touchpad, utility, utilities Toshiba & finally Intel ProSet Wireless Driver.

After checking the zipped file, I noticed that the installation files are named for the PQ-32 my PQ-31!

Could this be the problem or Toshiba is not compatible Vista Ultimate? Your comments would be greatly appreciated

PS I assume that this question should be addressed to Toshiba direct, but strangely, they fail to give an address for your comments.

    Zaki

    Hello Zaki

Please don't be crazy about me, but what you wrote is noting but totally absurd. There is no difference between the versions of Vista and all Toshiba designed tools, utilities, or packages are universal and can be installed on every version of Vista.

Qosmio G30 is quite long on the market and you are the first person who says something like that. I really wonder why?

VAP is identical for both Qosmio models and there is no difference. PAxxx number is different but the platform is the same and there is no reason to make two different veterinary antimicrobial products.

To be honest, one thing is interesting to me: How do you get the following are reported as incompatible with the version of my system?

Before you try to install already preinstalled VAP should be removed first. If you do a clean install of Vista Ultimate there should not be any problems at all, just follow the order of the facilities.

  • Qosmio G30-175: how to install Qosimo Player after changing RAID

I noticed on my G30-175 x 2 80 GB hard drive, I had the opportunity to do RAID1 but don't want that.
I want RAID0, I understand that I have to rebuild, said drivers on the disk that is ready to go, but I noticed that the player seems to use a small partition on the hard disk 1.
After I changed the raid settings in the Bios I assume that that info will be lost so now, during reconstruction, which will be reinstalled from the cd rocevery aswell?

    Help me please

    Hello

You re right. Changing the settings in the BIOS RAID leads to loss of data on the hard drives.
= RAID0 mirroring. This means that all data are saved on the first HARD disk will also be stored on the HARD drive second.

So I guess that the Qosmio Player will be installed on the first HARD drive on a small partition.
Do you have the Qosmio Player recovery CD?
If Yes, then you should be able to reinstall this application.

Note: To my knowledge the recovery CD contains only the operating system, drivers and utilities but not a Qosmio Player. So you must install it in addition form the Qosmio CD player!

  • Qosmio G30 - 175 GB nVidia series 7600 Code 10/43

I recently updated my G30-175 of windows update (Windows XP), then I started getting a "Code 10" on my chipset nVidia Go 7600 series. Since this happened I tried to roll back the graphics driver (when that happens first,) which when it restarts it worked very well, and I then shut down the system. When I started again the next day, I had the same problem of Code 10.

I tried to use a restore of the system, but to no avail. I decided to uninstall the graphics drivers and install the Toshiba drivers, those for winXP and everything I got was Blue Screen of Death, once to start in safe mode, I uninstalled the driver, and recommended installed nVidia Driver (beta version 179,48 for winXP) I've also tried a few more nVidia drivers that I found for the Go 7600 and the result remained the same "Code 10" cannot start device.

I read a lot of blog to this topic for series 7, 8 and 9, who generally say that there are "Problems" with the pilots, and to use the windows update the nVidia drivers. I tried this and still no change.

Not seen floppy disks of origin for the laptop, I decided to take it on myself and upgrade of the 2x512mb RAM sticks to 2x2gb DDR3 laptop RAM, the system started very well and I decided to install windows 7, from what I read, it was the best option (for Office 7 cards of the series) (, after not found 'NO' blog on the Go 7 series) after installing win7 chipset began to work properly, it's up to windows update, and once again, the same "Code 43 windows reports errors and the unit stopped.

I tried the Windows7 Drivers to support Toshiba, once again BSOD, I tried to reinstall the windows update the nVidia drivers, and the drivers from the nVidia site (179.48 version beta for Windows Vista/7), which none are working.

I tried to solve this problem now for 10 days and not a glimmer of hope. It is possible that the chipset is not, however, I think it's a malfunction of the software, it is also a coincidence that when I update windows, I get a chipset failure.

    Any help is good help.

    Thanks for listening

    Hello

What is the BSOD STOP Code?

We will be able to identify the problem by using the STOP code.

    0x000000?

  • Can I change the video card on Qosmio G30 HD DVD

    Hello

I want to change internal video card on my toshiba.
I have another laptop manufacturing and card video is a nividia GeForce GO 7900 GS.
On my toshiba today I have a GeForce GO 7600.

Is - this posibel to change the graphics card with that on my XPs? Is it posibel even to change a video card in a G30?
(Sorry my English is not the best!: D)

    Thx for any help

    Hello

Usually it of not possible to change the GPU on laptop computers.
The laptop is configured with this graphics card and after replacement, it possible s that the BIOS will not accept this card and laptop does not start.

But why you want to replace it?

It seems that there s a new notebook with HD-DVD player and a great graphics card.
The replacement does not really increase the graphics performance!
You know, replacement is very risky, and if you open the notebook, you will lose the warranty!
    It is not worth!

  • Qosmio F60 - BD DVD Player read DVD only if the theme is one of the aero themes

I found that DVD Toshiba BD player will play only DVD if the windows theme is one of the aero themes.

Personally I do not use aero.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

I can play the DVD using other software.
The main attraction of using the Toshiba Software is it is the function of upconversion.

    Thank you.

    Hello hicham.

This means that you use the DVD from Toshiba drive, but you can t without Aero theme Blu - ray game discs?

In this case, I would recommend the DVD Player update. Just check for an update from Toshiba Web site:

Have you tested other players? Toshiba DVD player in my opinion is not important. I use VLC media player because he can play audio and video files more! :)

  • Qosmio G30: HD DVD obsolescence

In light of the recent events and news from Toshiba and Blu Ray into the scene I have a problem and presummably he does well to others.

Have an old machine of 13 months with obsolete technology is a real problem. Toshiba please help their customers, especially with high-end kit like this (mine with the high-end display/HD DVD), a path forward with their hardware and software? For example free replacement alternative or reduced and media, in-depth instructions etc. Is this covered by my warranty of 3 years - that is to say the disc is not suitable for usage that you will not be able to buy the DVD for her. Looking for ways to move forward...

    Citing Wikipedia:

Blu - ray was locked in a war of the HD DVD format until the victory of the Blu - ray on February 19, 2008. That day, Toshiba, the main driving force behind HD DVD Aannounced it would is no longer to develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. [4]

    Hello

I understand you because I also have a machine with a HD-DVD player. But there is no return policy for HD-DVD players because you bought a laptop of very great value at a great price. The HD-DVD player in your laptop is fully backward compatible meaning, it also supports the standard DVD - RW SuperMulti (DL), in order to have full access to most of the content on the planet. In addition, HD DVD adds great value to your computer for the money. There are more than 800 titles of movies to the format.

Toshiba would also support the machine with the reader as all other laptops. Then he was told to me.

And in addition he luckily really toshibas fault with this weird format war. Sony just pay more money for some groups called warner etc...
