  You just bought the Qosmio G40 - 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate. EAD all reports and went for the superb view report. I am very disappointed by the quality of playback on DVD and avi (divX, Xvid, h264). The colors are bland bland and not all that sharp.

  Compared to my Toshiba 3 year, mid-range machine running Windows XP Home edition, it is pretty poor. I did not test anything.

  Am I missing something or is it the fault of Vista. I tried to load Windows XP Home edition, but could not because it came with the message "blocked" since WXP is a downgrade. Can anyone help? Please, I beg you.

• Qosmio G40-108 - prevent recovery of product disc ask to insert the disc

  I have a Qosmio G40-108 and it works fine even if the disc is not read discs any longer, perhaps because of a motherboard failure that I replace the disk with a new of brans and it still does not work, but my problem is the following... I have the product recovery disc, I tried to copy it to a USB key and reinstall the OS from USB and the start of software loading a page with the logo Toshiba asking to insert the recovery disk into drive F: I can't use is more like it's broken. How can I prevent the disc from asking to insert the disk into drive F:? There are lines on the laptop recovery disk to install the USB without using the disc?

  I managed to install a generic Windows Vista 32 bit downloaded from a Web site and my serial key works with it, but I really want to reinstall the original software

  I hope that there is some good buddies out there that can save a window double glazing to be mullared by that lappy.
  I had (Qosmio G40-108 with 4 GB of RAM) since August 2007. Everything was fine until two weeks about where it kept crashing during the execution of a couple normal progs that I use.
  After reading several messages from buddies with similar problems, I think it might be the PCI express graphics. Is this good? I can swap out? Or advice, blaggs, ideas or suggestions are very welcome. :)

  This isn't a real problem.
  These problems can occur using incompatible media or not fully supported.
  I had this problem too. You wouldn't believe how many CD or DVD I used to know what media would be fine.

  Finally I went to TDK's and for a long time I m really satisfied.

  By the way; User manual you should provide some useful details on the compatible media. Check also.

  Please understand that mobile technology is completely different Office of PC technology and motherboards are all just different.
  Upgrading the CPU's especially not possible or very risky for other reasons.

  A main reason could be overheating; as you know the stronger CPU would produce more heat and this could lead to a higher temperature and finally to overheating...

  In addition you BIOS was not configured for other processors so it possible s that your laptop does not start after such update!

  It depends on you how much money you want to spend. I mean that the difference between the-108 and-12 c, is-108 has a more powerful CPU (T7700) and a larger hard drive.
  But the basic technique, the machines should be similar.

  You have to choose yourself, but in all cases, you can buy the same maybe more or less powerful machine... :)

• Bad quality video when I do a DVD

  I was very disappointed when HD DVD footage.  I have create a sequence in first Pro CS5 and use the Dymnaic link software to make this sequence in again with out making it.  Sharpness and clarity are fine on the original film, but as soon as I do in a DVD, the output is always less strong and less defined.  Now, I understand that it is reduced in definition when rendering for DVD, but if I buy a DVD and play on a TV high-definition 65 inches high, it is almost as clear as a Blue Ray.  The stuff that I do seem to not even good on TV 25 inches: (.)

  There is a huge difference between those made of commercial DVDs and at home.

  If you want to play home made DVD on the big screen you a DVD with upscaler.

  For HD DVD will I suggest that you export directly to first max render quality mpeg2-dvd (vbr2/upper field).

• Satellite A660 - 11 m - video DVD playback is quite grainy

  Not so long ago, I bought this Satellite A660 - 11 m and I am extreemly happy with it. Graphics capabilities are perfect for my games.
  One thing however, I noticed that the video playback is very grainy, especially with the DVD. I tried to use the best software like Cyberlink Power DVD DVD playback.
  Is it possible that I can improve the clarity of the video and remove the adhering and afterimage?

  You tested it with the original or some cottages created DVD?
  Maybe you checked the first Blu - ray movies and later when you use DVD quality is not very good. ;)

  Does anyone know if the G40-108 supports the RAID1? According to the manual, the G30-204 made but there is no mention of RAID in G40 manual even if the G30 and G40 have double HARD drive.

• RH10 bad quality videos

  I need to publish some software simulations RH10 Webhelp and I meet a lot of difficulties. The only ones that seem to work are the videos I create in Captivate - these publish as. SWF files.

  I started with a MP4 file, created in Adobe Presenter 8, I converted into Adobe Media Encoder, FLV and F4V. I chose a maximum quality in Media Encoder.

  When I run these video files in other software, they are fine. The resolution is great. As soon as I insert in Robohelp using the Insert > Multimedia/Demo option, the screen resolution is terrible. Preview mode is bad, so, whatever happens, happens immediately. Generation does nothing either.

  The MP4 I inserted play not AT ALL (or at least not for five minutes, I waited), and it does not display the controls at the bottom. It was just a black rectangle on the page. I even tried to download the FLV file as a file of luggage with a link to it - didn't work. Nothing works.

  I tried the conversion of SWF files in two free converters because the encoder does not give me this option. I have no audio on one or the other, but the resolution has been good. There was another audio converter I would have paid that gave me the audio, but I'm looking for other solutions in the software I already have.

  I can't insert images of screenshots to show you - I get an error, so something is not on the site, I guess.

  We have found the solution. A programmer and I messed around with this for a few hours and hitting on the size of the video.  When I converted the file to FLV format, the setting in Media Encoder is 1280 X 720. When I insert the file in Robohelp, the video is much smaller, so I grabbed the corner and it size about 920 X 700 or more. Don't do this!

  When I double click on the video and displays the multimedia dialog box, there is a button size. I clicked on it and is entered in the exact size of 1280 video, convert X 720 - and it is great!

• Qosmio G40-108 crashed when reading things via WMP or VLC

  Whenever I play stuff via wmp or vlc the machine crashes.
  Sometimes I get an error message saying nvkklmd (something like that) has failed.
  I have dl the latest display driver, but have the same problem.

  Any suggestions? Googling the error message that tells me it is a compatibility issue with Vista and the card nvidia 8600.
  It makes me wonder why they would put such an element in if this is the case.

  It's very strange because one of my friends has a G40 on the table that he can play the video files using Windows Media Player and other players free downloaded off the net.
  Therefore, I doubt that there is a compatibility problem between Vista and nVidia.

  I think that it of really not easy to say what causes this problem until you will not recover your system. I mean you can try to play the same files on the laptop picked up fresh and if the laptop will not crash while it was certainly a problem of compatibility with you 3rd party software/files.

  If the laptop is going to plant a hardware problem may be possible

  As you see it s not easy to say how to resolve this problem, you must try in different ways and recovery belongs to one of the possible solutions.

  It is very nice to hear that you already have the new Qosmio notebook. I can't say much about your problem because without a screenshot, it is not easy to understand what you mean exactly. On my Qosmio G30 (with the same HD resolution) I have no problem at all. Because of this I can't really understand what the problem is here.

  If possible send a link where we can see what it looks like. Your description is not enough.
  BTW: have you noticed that on web pages only?
