Qosmio G40 - infrared chipset not detected by Windows 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and found that my infrared chipset (SMSC SIO1049 SuperIO chip) does not appear in Device Manager.
According to this page, it should appear as an unknown driver (ACPI\SMCB0C0)
http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd567986.aspx

The IR remote control provided by Toshiba does not work (it used to work fine under Vista). All the world had the same problem B4? How to fix you (if you resolved at all)?

Does this mean that Ineed to wait for the next update of the BIOS (my BIOS version is 2.20)?

My computer is a Qosmio G40 PQG40 02201NCE.

Hello

If the device is not visible in the Device Manager, not even as an unknown device, then this means that the device does not exist or was not detected by the BIOS.

Usually, the infrared receiver must be visible in the Device Manager under:
Human interface devices - > infrared receiver SMSCIR

In system devices, you should see the device consumer infrared.

Don't forget that you have enabled devices hidden sow option perhaps of Device Manager, then you might see this

Please also check the BIOS
I'm not very well if the infrared device option would be listed in the BIOS, but you should check it m

  • CD/dvd drive not detected by windows

my reader of cd/dvd in my computer hp laptop dv6000 is not detected by windows. It is powered, both the BIOS and Device Manager detects it, but windows doesn't

IM on Windows Vista Home Premium.
I had this problem before and I managed to fix it by unplugging and reconnecting the Cd/dvd drive (nothing to lose, no more warranty), but after doing a system restore, the problem resurfaced again.

The hard drive is a Toshiba MK1637GSX ATA Device
I tried to use the pages of Microsoft support without success. I have no upper and lower filter.
I already tried with also Device Manager nothing doesn't.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Please start from the top and do it, even if you've done it before as is often the
all operations which solves the problem.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

  • HP v125w 2 GB drive flash not detected by windows

My flash drive is not detected by windows what should I do

I have a HP v125w 4 GB flash drive that works on Windows 2000 and 7.  However, I also have a disk 16 GB flash of v125w HP which works on Windows 7, but was not recognized by my system Windows 2000.  Here's what I did to get Windows 2000 to recognize (this may not work for everyone, but it did for me).

I plugged the flash drive to 16 GB on a Windows 2000-based USB port and ran:

Norton SystemWorks-> Norton Utilities-> find and correct problems->

    Norton Disk Doctor-> diagnosis

    that gave me the message:

Insert the diskette to diagnose in the E: drive.

So, I ejected the flash player, it plugged into the USB port and you click on diagnose again.

Norton Disk Doctor consulted the flash drive, diagnosed and gave the following report:

There is no problem detected on drive E:
    Partition table... Jump
    Structures of files... Ok
    Surface test... Jump

After this, the flash player was working fine on my Windows 2000 and Windows 7 computers.

Thus, this procedure is awakened somehow the reader as much as to be recognizable by Windows 2000.  I hope this helps you.

  • Brother printer has not detected by Windows 7 64 bit.

Brother DCP145C has not detected by Windows 7 64 bit. What port is recommended for the local printer - LPT1? Windows 7 should detect when the USB connection, but there is no activity. Similarly, the mode to scan on the printer is not responding to "check connection". Thank you.
Checked the port LPT1 and COM on Device Manager and seem to work correctly. No updated driver needed updated port.

    Hello Richard,.

If several USB devices are plug-and-play, printers need a print driver to work even on a USB port. I went to the Brother website and a research on the model of printer "DCP145C" increase any responses - are you sure the model number of the printer (not the part number)?

You have a printer disk supplied with your printer? If you do, try to use that to install the print driver. As far as LPT1 goes, is for a printer with a parallel port (printer), and the COM ports are for those who use the ports series.

Thus starts with the right model number and look for brother.com right print driver (or use the disc that came with the printer). Try and see if that solves the problem for you.

Let me know how you fare.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio G10-133 - battery not detected after upgrading to Windows 7

Hello, I hope someone can help my frustrations here.

In recent weeks, I successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, an increase of memory to 2 GB, bought new power cord for laptop, new battery and resolved all the issues that Windows 7 has cast on me. The laptop and runs like one dream other than a question that seems to have had worse.

The laptop no longer recognizes the new battery. (battery with a cross through it and a photo of current) For about a week after installing the battery, this has worked fine but now does not detect everything. I don't have any errors in Device Manager and windows recognized the ACPI etc battery inputs and has no problem. I also loaded the package of Toshiba value added that Windows 7 has found for me but still nothing. Battery not charge even though sometimes the battery works for about 30 seconds to start up if the battery is back removed and implemented, then stops again (once Windows loaded) I tried many things like the disabling of the driver, reinstall battery etc, but nothing. I tried the iniitally of battery with Windows XP and worked well.

I have also searched the web and saw that many other laptops with Windows 7 have had this problem, including Toshibas. Some say update the BIOS, but Toshiba have not released an upgrade from the original in 2004 (which is for WIn XP Media Center), and there is no settings in my BIOS for ACPI etc.

In addition, I can not calibrate the battery because I can't do anything with it. I don't think it's a question though.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it or all the links to the drivers etc.

If this is sorted my laptop should last for 5 years!

    Thanks for reading this.

    Dickie

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that many other laptops equipped with Windows 7 have this problem. I've never heard of this and normally charge the battery will not be controlled of the OS. It happens automatically and your battery will be charged if the AC/DC is plugged. If the OS doesn't affect it!

To be honest, I also don t know why your battery isn't detected, but what happens if you turn off the laptop and let the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours? After that, it should be possible to work on the minute of the battery for 1 hour or more.

If this isn't the case, it seems to be a hardware problem, maybe the battery doesn t work correctly and should be replaced. You should contact the retailer where you bought

By the way: some nice and interesting tips on battery:

    Hi Gang

I hope that there is some good buddies out there that can save a window double glazing to be mullared by that lappy.
I had (Qosmio G40-108 with 4 GB of RAM) since August 2007. Everything was fine until two weeks about where it kept crashing during the execution of a couple normal progs that I use.
After reading several messages from buddies with similar problems, I think it might be the PCI express graphics. Is this good? I can swap out? Or advice, blaggs, ideas or suggestions are very welcome. :)

Is there a way around this, or should I disable this feature (which was working under Vista before)? thanx

    Hello

This feature isn t so important because he doesn't make a strong performance gain, but in your case I would try to update the BIOS. Maybe it will work or let's say that the computer goes into mode 'sleep' correctly again. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site.

What Intel driver, you have exactly? Have you tried the Toshiba site?
