Qosmio G40 memory problem

Well, I had 4 GB of PC2-6400 ram to my laptop and it is a matching pair of DDR2, I inserted without problems and it works fine. But I get 3 GB I have a 32 bit OS and the other thing is, when I run CPU - Z it shows the RAM operating as 667 Mhz for a reason, the CPU has a FSB 800 MHz so technically it supports the ram to run at 800 Mhz, but it is not?

On CPU - Z when I information from memory, it shows 2 different data sets for the ram 1 is 333 Mhz and the other 400 mhz, normally the ram underclocks if her dosent processor supports it, but in this case my cpu don't and it is always to be underclocked...?

Can someone help me with this?

Hello

This topic has been discussed much about a thousand times here, and almost all the machines without worrying that model, this issue. Sometimes, you can get useful data when you use the * FUNCTION SEARCH * Forum.

But I did some research for you and can for example give this link to microsoft for you:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us

Otherwise, if you want to learn more on this subject you must type only 4 GB in the search field of the search function.

And then: reading happy :)

Welcome them

I just had mine but on its highest resolution all Web pages have these 11 blocks rectangular semi, barely visible, only the bottom, each about an inch long, is this normal and should I send it to the object of an investigation?

    Hello

It is very nice to hear that you already have the new Qosmio notebook. I can't say much about your problem because without a screenshot, it is not easy to understand what you mean exactly. On my Qosmio G30 (with the same HD resolution) I have no problem at all. Because of this I can't really understand what the problem is here.

If possible send a link where we can see what it looks like. Your description is not enough.
BTW: have you noticed that on web pages only?

    Hi Symon

To be honest, for me, it is not easy to understand what problems you have, but it will be interesting to know if you have type the problem using the Windows Notepad or Microsoft Word. Or even if you type something to open the window Internet explorer, like passwords, or perhaps the mails.

Third party software you can be sure that everything will work perfectly.

  • Qosmio G40 - Intel Turbo Memory issue on Windows 7

The Intel Turbo Memory does not work in my Qosmio G40 Windows 7. I tried different ways to install the drivers but only the work of the Intel Matrix Storage Console.

If I try to install the full Pakage Robson, the material remains marked as a problem in the Device Manager and the computer crashes every time he goes into mode 'sleep'.

Is there a way around this, or should I disable this feature (which was working under Vista before)? thanx

    Hello

This feature isn t so important because he doesn't make a strong performance gain, but in your case I would try to update the BIOS. Maybe it will work or let's say that the computer goes into mode 'sleep' correctly again. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site.

What Intel driver, you have exactly? Have you tried the Toshiba site?

  • Qosmio G40-10 s: graphics card problem

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G40 laptop 10s with a Nvidea 8600 M GT grafixs card. I was playing a game when it locked up and pasted what I would describe as flashing red/green 'Matrixy' search screen.

He then a blue screen and trys to reeboot.
He tries to start windows, but once again the top matrix. If it loads to the top, it is in 16 bit color with red dots all over the screen.

I am sure that the GPU is fried... and I was wondering what I can do? It's been 5 months out of warranty now.

I read on some forums that there have been a lot of problems with this Nvidea card... Is there anything I can do outside my warranty period with what there is a possibly faulty card in it from the beginning.

It will cost a lot of money to get it repaired, but its too good a laptop to let go to waste.

    Any help is very appreciated.

    J

    Hello

You also have these lines on an external monitor?
If so, there seems to be a graphics card problem and it must be replaced.

These overheating problems also occur if you use the nVidia display drivers directly. Toshiba drivers are pre-tested and don't overheat your system.

But I think you need professional help. You should contact an authorized service provider and talk to the technicians. They will help you! :)

  • Problem with BRIGHT. EXE in QOSMIO G40

    Hello and Hello,

I'm a new user here at the forum, and I hope I'm posting in the right place :).

I just purchased a Qosmio G40 well in March and I'm very happy with it, but 3 days ago, I noticed a problem with it, the BRIGHT program. EXE, that controls the brightness of the flat screen does not work (well, it stoped working), when I press the button in the Panel frontal operational, or use the FN + F6 or F7 combination, this does not work, windows indicates that the BRIGHT program. EXE gave an error but does not specify what error.

Does anyone have an idea why this happens and how to solve?

    Best,
    Ricardo

That's the problem! If you want to use the system restore then all settings (settings of operating system, installed programs, registry changes, etc.) will be defined at the point of time at the beginning!

This means that you lose the programs that were installed after the restore point created!

But it should solve your BRIGHT. Number of the EXE!

  • Qosmio G40 - upgrade memory to 4 GB

    Dear all,

I want to upgrade my memory standard 2 GB (2x1GB, 667 Mhz) up to 4 GB. Clearly, I realize that only 3 GB (or something around) will be visible.

    * The question is choose what type RAM os and which brands/models best fit (price and performance-wise) *:
    (a) PC2-6400 800 Mhz
    (b) PC2-5300 667 Mhz

_Would the system use PC2-6400 800 Mhz or could it be underclocked? _
I read this thread (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=28634) and seems that the part of the wire on underclocking has not been addressed.
Does make sence buy PC2-6400 with a hope that with increased Mhz, performance will improve?

There is a list of RAM tested brands/models and confirmed as compatible by Toshiba for purposes of upgrade? _
The manual indicates that only authorized Toshiba RAM should be used, but I failed to find a list of approved... The RAM manufacturers offer different ideas (Kingston suggests PC2-5300, Corsair suggests PC2-6400), but I'd rather hear Tohsiba.

    * I would be grateful to hear from those who have done an upgrade if there is no improvement in performance! *

    Thank you all,.

I can see in the last 5 days nobody have written anything, and I hope that I can offer just my comment to this. To be clear I have no Qosmio G40 but I hope we can discuss on the upgrade of RAM.
    That said Toshiba? Not much.

For each model of laptop, Toshiba offers a list of compatible and tested RAM modules. For your computer model Toshiba laptop offers modules of DDR2 667 MHz RAM. 2 GB module has PA3513U-1M2G part number. I also recommend you to buy Kingston modules. Kingston offers products of high quality.
I don't see any reason why Toshiba should test all the modules available on the market and create a list. If someone will sell own products, they must test it with laptops available on the market and have a good chance to sell own products.

As I wrote before RAM in the manuals is being tested. To be honest I don't see any sense why use module 800 MHz on the motherboard with bus 667 MHz front end, if you can get the 667 MHz modules.
    What do you think?

One last thing: to comment on this notebook 800 MHz just processor system Bus Clock speed (PSB) is 800 MHz.

  • Problems on Qosmio G40 - 12U on Driver genius use of

    Hello!!

This is my first post here. So Hello everyone!

    I recently purchased a Qosmio G40-12 U. It's a great laptop!

But I'm having a problem that I installed the Software Driver Genius to update the drivers and so forth and once updated packages Intel that I can't start the laptop without connecting it to the wall outlet. I can unplough the laptop and still work until the empty battery, but if I turn it off it I cannot turn back unless I plug to the power outlet.

    Could someone help me?

    Kind regards

    Hello

As much as I know this software is not supported by Toshiba and I believe that no one can explain with certainty what the problem is here. The fact is that all compatible drivers are tested and they will not work correctly.

So my opinion is that you should return to the Toshiba factory settings.

  • Qosmio G40 - update graphics card

    Hello world

I know it works has already answered in October 2009, but I have a few not 100% course info on the upgrade of the graphics cards. Now I have a qosmio g40-10 with nvidia geforce 8600 with 512 video memory. Because this card is purely not enough for the high-end gaming today, I want to update at least 1 GB of video memory. Like many people here, I tried to find some information online but its just waste of time. I asked in each PC store in my town this topic and 60% of them responded that it is possible, but it will cost you so.

They could not tell exactly witch card should take but logically it will be nvidia series that were used by Toshiba manufacter, what I'll do I will find some young model of Toshiba nvidia cards and will just try to adapt it. Logically that laptops Toshiba chassy is almost the same, of course mounting screws can be different, but ultimately, it's a project. The only problem is the motherboard, I heard that this motherboard is unable to accept certain graphics cards.

If you have some info on this please let me know.
Also different (highest card) coz, there will be cooling problem so if you have ideas to solve heating, please share it with me.
    Thanks much adrian

    Hello Adrian

I guess that you know very well that the possibilities of upgrade on mobile units are very limited; especially GPU or CPU upgrade and laptop manufacturers offer don t any kind of support. Because of the design specific common problem for mobile units is cooling system. More performance means more heat and more heat, compromised of portable computer hardware switch or damage.

Manufacturers of portable don t support cela and don offers t any helpful info about it. GPU upgrade in my opinion is not a good idea. OK, you can do with your laptop that you want and play a little bit, but I'm afraid that your project is too risky and will not end with success of m.

If you need a more powerful computer I think it's time for the new portable computer with more powerful hardware. What you think so.

  • Qosmio G40-10 s - driver software for device has not been installed successfully

    I get a message...
Software device driver has not been installed successfully.
    Memory PCI controller... failed

Is this a problem with my laptop or software that has been loaded. Now on Windows 7 32 bit Vista

    Hi spudcam,

This means that for the memory controller PCI is no driver installed?

Well, it is difficult to say which driver you need exactly and Windows 7's official is not compatible with the Qosmio G40.

AFAIK memory PCI controller is Intel Turbo Memory module, so you would need Robson package driver of the official website of Toshiba.
Now, I looked on the page of Toshiba and guess what, it s is available for G40 and Windows 7. :)

  • Qosmio G40 - no webcam with live Messenger

    Hello world

I installed Win 7 on my Qosmio G40 instead of Vista and everything work fine except the webcam that does not work with live Messenger (only) no matter what I do (I tried several drivers, re-installed Win messenger live, close some processes, etc ;) I get this error message:

'* Cannot start your webcam. "Check if it is not used by another program and retry."

What the hell can I do to fix this?

    Hello

I read a lot of discussions about the problems with webcam and messenger Ms.
The problem with Vista has been resolved by the SP1 from Microsoft Update.
Now, it seems to be that the same problem with Win 7 looks like a thing of compatibility

However, because the message says that the webcam is used by another application, I suppose that some background processes lock the webcam

You must remove webcam and messenger MS startup in msconfig.
After that, restart the laptop and don t start the webcam software if you want to use it in Messenger from Ms.
