Qosmio G50-115 - overheating?

Off my 10 day old G50, it refused to start.

I noticed the white a/c light was flashing orange which, according to the manual, indicated a problem of heat dispersion. I checked the fan cover on the back and made sure nothing was blocking the. Everything seemed fine and I waited some time, but it still won't start. I took out the battery and checked that, even if I was running on outlet. After replacing the battery, it started but after having turned off once more refused to start.

I removed the external hard drive, a Simpletech 250 GB drive powered by USB which, once I have inserted into a USB port an open box and stated that this player should run faster if I connected to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port, for a list of ports click here.
It has shown me a load of ports and I find it quite confusing. Anyway, I decided that the external drive was not powerful enough for himself working properly so I added a 6v (the one for the correct player) adapter, the info box still open, but I used it for that on still. I started from the hard drive in touch and the notebook starts up each time, however, he seems to be quite slow and takes almost 4 minutes to go from start-up to readiness online.

I love having lots of hard disk space and had played with the idea of buying the G50 - 10H, but I had been advised to opt for the G50-115 is the 10 H 35W, the 115 25W apparently less heat generated in a laptop the better, I wonder if I can spend my laptop to 800 GB hard drives?

Best regards, Russell.

I chose the 10 H on 115 for its features. I do not give something for 10W! In any case, to your problem.

Difficult to diagnose remotely but the first thing that comes to mind is whether you use two USB ports for external HARD disk. On laptops, it should be available to each USB port amp ½ and HARD drive needs 1 amp (these days). So the first thing we need to know. I was fooled by the SATA port on the back of my Qosmio and I couldn't find a single cable that runs through this port. I have a USB powered USB port hub and put mmy USB cable to two in two ports in the hub, and then in the external SATA drive. All the USB ports on the Qosmio are USB 2.

On some laptops (and I think that it's design flaws), the device can pull 1 amp there need, but which potentially emphasizes the USB port and maybe that's one of the meanings of the orange semaphore. This could be what happened to you if you have only connected with a USB cable.

You can change the hard drive in your laptop? Yes - with great care. The main steps are:
1.
Create the floppies of restoration on DVD if you already haven't - to get remind you the square 1 if necessary.

2.
Copy your data to the current hard disks (including PST files and other - just that it's need thought and care) connected with a double USB cable external HARD disk. If you can not do this, then drop your data somewhere on the network - as a player of SAN. BETTER would be to put your data on the second of the two largest drives that you create. Make the D: drive.

3.
Put one of your twins new discs (the one that you will start) in a box SATA connected by USB as above described.

4.
Program of Symantec's GHOST to take an image of your existing boot HARD drive to the new HARD disk into the USB SATA case. Ghost should work as the startup disk use 4 partitions from what I can see in disk management.

5.
Remove the two hard drives of the 115 and take note of their position in the event that you would return to this configuration.

6.
Insert the two new drives into the 115. Somehow, you need to know who is disk 0 and disk 1 - I only did that on a laptop with a single disc Dello. Way the easiest is to find a marking. Otherwise just put the HDD boot in a slot and see if it works - move if it is not.

This effort needs concentration and the above sequence needs study before run you. You will always be able to return to the status quo with this approach. Of course, you will cancel your warranty.

Let us know your thoughts, and if I have the right analysis of the symptom; If not, we will need to know the details of what you sign and how.

  • Qosmio G50-115 - where can I find drivers for XP?

    Hello

I bought G50 - 115 and Vista was really frustrating me. I tried to install XP, however I had a lot of trouble that I couldn't find its drivers.

I'm looking for its driver for XP?
Is there someone who managed to install XP?

    Thank you

Normally, you can find all the drivers on the Toshiba site, but the problem is you will find only drivers for Vista. Windows XP is not the latest OS and Qosmio G50 is really fast enough for Vista.

I think you should search on external websites you download and install the drivers. Here are some examples where you can search:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

There you should find most of the drivers.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio G50-115: how to upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate

    Dear friends,

I am a teacher in a local college. We decided to buy the Qosmio (device name: G50-115, device number: PQG55E-01J00GEN, product group: QOSMIO) for our Department. We bought two so far for the trial. But my job is now on the sword.

These laptops are pre-intstalled with Vista Home Premium SP1 and we need to upgrade these to Vista Ultimate. We have a DVD of Windows Vista Ultimate, but it's without SP1 on it. When I run and update, it rejects the upgrade because the installed version is newer than the version I have. Microsoft is no help, they said that you bought...

Microsoft advised me to uninstall SP1, but I can't do that because there is no option in Control Panel to do this.

If I install clean I won't lose nice software from Toshiba. I did a recovery disk, but do not think that I will be able to install this software. If I can download all necessary drivers, but I am interested in utilities/software installed at the factory.

Would you please advise me what to do. Y did he we can get all the software of Qosmio on a DVD for instalation.

    Kind regards

    Dr. Sophie

You should try to wake SP1 to the drive ultimate because I think that the problem is due the SP1 is already installed, but not on the final drive.

You can do this with vLite: http://www.vlite.net/.
With this tool, you can create your own with integrated service packs, patches, driver installation disc and more.

Try this, it only takes a few minutes.

  • Re: Qosmio G50 - 115 - can I connect a Xbox?

Is it possible to connect an Xbox (or an Xbox 360) to a G50 so that it does not need a separate monitor?

It seems silly if it does not exist with respect to a student that the G50 has everything - speakers, TV reception etc.

    Hello

I n t have experience with a Xbox or Xbox 360, but I can say that's not possible.

The Qosmio G50 and all the other laptops I know have only one video * output signal and not a port of entry. If the laptop screen can t be used as an external monitor.

Sorry but I think you need a monitor for your Xbox :(

Recently tried to do a recovery plus two discs but the player refused to burn but come with 0E01B5-26-2AO444D9 error Code.
In fact, it does not burn anything but will play.

    Hello

Have you tried different CDs and DVDs from different manufacturers?
You must proceed as different disks from different manufacturers are not 100% compatible.

I had similar problems, burning data to CDs or the different DVD
Then I tested the drives from different manufacturers, and that was the key!
    Everything worked properly!

I made good experiences with disc Verbatim and TDK R (CD and DVD)

I think you should also test some discs

  • Qosmio G50 - install dual boot?

I think buy A Qosmio G50 115 or 10 H and have the dual boot Vista/XP Pro installed.

My first question: is it possible on this laptop?

If understand dualboot means efficiently reinstall Vista and then installing XP Pro, which would be to remove all software delivered on the machine. Qosmio G10 manual (p77, 3-12) says that there is a Toshiba tools and Utilities CD ROM, from where you can restore the drivers and applications. However, the specifications for this Qosmio on Toshiba Europe site does not include such a CD ROM

Also (p76, 3-11) the manual says "use the recovery CD QosmioPlayer first then the recovery media product then for the restoration of the entire system. Otherwise the system will not work. »

This means - it is impossible to reinstall Vista without using the recovery CD?

Vista can be reinstalled on the computer, regardless of any software provided or what - "otherwise the system will not work.

If I use the recovery CD after reinstallation of Vista in a dual boot, is - that don't joke place the dual boot?

    Hello, Alan

Can you please make decision on thread that you want to discuss on your dual boot problem?
What is the meaning to post two identical threads?

    # This machine does support DDR3 1066 mhz RAM as the X 300?
    # Can we buy this machine with SSD instead of hard drives?

    Also:

    # I know the material support it 8 GB of ram, but Toshiba provides all of the necessary drivers for a 64 bit (Vista home premium) or Ultimate OS, what versions of Windows Server?
    # Can I buy this preloaded with Vista Ultimate product? None of the sites for sale in the United Kingdom seems to show Vista Ultimate, even if they all pictures saying "Toshiba recommends Vista Ultimate".

  • Qosmio G50 PQG55A: NVIDIA driver - update or not

    Hello

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

The short question is, should I update my NVIDIA driver from 175,90 (as shown on the Web from Toshiba site) to the Version: 186.81 WHQL as suggested by the NVIDIA site.

    The long version follows...
My Qosmio G50 (PQG55A-04J01Y), running under Vista 64 Bit, crashes intermittently. It is sometimes good for more than a week earlier, sometimes once or twice a day.

I was quite thorough with virus and malaware controls.

Everything seems to stop, even if the mouse still works.
I have to turn off the PC, sometimes reboot Check Disk runs and corrects errors.

A problem with the NVIDIA graphics driver
NVIDIA Graphics Driver has stopped working properly.
An update of the driver, as appropriate, could prevent this problem does not happen.
There are several ways to find and install the driver updates, but it's best to let Windows do it for you. Try the step below, which describes the process. If it does not produce a driver update that resolves the problem, try the remaining steps in the order shown.

    1. search the optional third-party updates
    2. try to manually update the NVIDIA Graphics Driver
    3. check the NVIDIA Corporation Web site for driver updates
    4. check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for driver updates

If NVIDIA Graphics Driver was preinstalled on your computer, check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for driver updates.

    1. updates of Windows are perfectly up-to-date.

    2. when I try to update driver I get the message;

    > Short is, devrais I update my NVIDIA driver from 175,90 (as shown on the Web from Toshiba site) to the Version: 186.81 WHQL as suggested by the NVIDIA site.

Generally, you must use the graphics driver downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.
The graphic card driver from the Toshiba page has been tested and it s certified by Toshiba.

The common graphics driver nVidia is not designed for laptop and that's why these drivers don't support a protection against overheating.
    Driver Toshiba done!

So using the page nVidia graphics card driver can be risky and could overheat your GPU so the use of 3 third-party drivers is always at your own risk!

I have thin you should stay with the driver from the Toshiba page

  • Qosmio G50-12 q: no audio signal while moving the video files from the camcorder

    Hello

I have a portable PC Toshiba Qosmio G50 - 12 q with 640 GB HARD drive, and equipped with 4 GB of Ram saw the Completed window system upgraded to the version of service pack 2

I connected the video camera Sony PC 115 to the PC via the I.Link IEEE 1394 cable while that I import a video to Window Movie Maker in order to save it.

At the moment where it is reproduced in the form of Movie Maker, I see the video reproduced the video camera but don't feel no audio. Then when I'm done for import video I want and he always see in Movie Maker, the program reproduces regularly or video he recorded or the audio exactly I didn't think it was important while it.

    It ' is usually?

Working group than in the phase of import that I would have to see and feel or the audio video. Task not is defective cable because when I see the video recording in Movie Maker I feel also the audio base, means that the audio has left the video camera, is entered into the PC via the I.Link recorded it.

To the point, I can hear the audio in the phase of transfer / import video or any other audio device from the camera / video, I have to in case of change inside of Window Movie Maker or the window given some details of formulation considers also the I.Link Jack specifically?

Or the cable is connected between the video camera and PC with purpose there details? Even if it seems to me have connected well it boom ' as I have said, l "audio is saved."

    Thanks and greetings

I have Sony camcorder DCR-TRV520E and in the past, I recorded several movies on my laptop.
I used the Ulead Movie studio application and everything was OK.

10 minutes ago that I tested it with Windows Movie Maker (Vista) too. Here a few facts:
-My cam Sony is recognized correctly
-Started Windows Movie Maker and chose the option IMPORT > digital video camera
    -Traveled in the right folder
-On the next stage of the single application started rewinding videotape
-Importing video has begun only and when finished I checked it and the sound was there.

Later I chose the option "publish on" > this computer and after 20 minutes it was all over.

I just use the firewire cable. Nothing special.
    I really don't understand what's wrong there.

  • Qosmio G50 - 13R - add second HARD drive

    Hello

I want to upgrade my computer.
    Here are the numbers:

    Product name: Qosmio G50 - 13R
    Product version: PQG55E-05C04RFR
    Product series number: 89063721H

I have space for a second hard drive, but it is empty.
    No caddy, no connector.
But the Intel Rapid Storage detects an empty 4 internal port.

How to check what is the port?

I did some research and found a document on the substantive content of my computer. It says there is a connector on the motherboard for a second hard drive, here are a few references in the document:

CN1920 2nd SATA HDD (20 PIN) interface connector

Is that the motherboard of my computer (see reference above) has the CN1920 connector?
    How verified?

    Greetings.

There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past, the Qosmio G50 is out with support for different hardware specifications and different hardware parts and obviously 2nd HARD drive Bay does not the HARD drive cable/connectors.

The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated controllers serial ATA Host, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 devices SATA (2 x HDD, 1 x ODD, 1 x eSATA).

I searched on the internet a bit and discovered that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
The first HARD drive must be connected to the CN1900 connector SATA (23pin) and the 2nd HARD drive must be connected to the CN1920 (20pin). The STRANGE is connected to CN1910 (13pin)

However, I think that it will not be very easy to update this unit with a 2nd HARD drive all must be dismantled and of course, you need compatible parts for these updates.

  • Qosmio G50 - Windows does not shut down without memory stick inserted

I have a Qosmio G50 running Windows 7. The pc does not stop unless I have my USB stick inserted. Without the USB, I can tell the pc to stop. Without the inserted stick, the pc will say that it stops and remains on the screen closed for 10-15 minutes and then restart.

However, as soon as I put the USB into the USB port, the pc will stop within 2 seconds.

It is not easy to understand the situation and explain why this happens.
Qosmio G50 is not latest model cell phone, so I can't imagine that this strange question comes on the first day.

Something like this can be done with the factory settings. The configuration, preinstalled software, background running applications and processes on your Qosmio OS are not known to us is not easy to help you with this.
Somehow, I think that something running in the background blocks of the system. Unfortunately, I can't say what that would be.

    Check a bit.
By the way: have you noticed the behavior even if you try to use standby or hibernation mode?

  • Update of Qosmio G50-12 q

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G50 - 12 equipped q of the Windows Vista Ultimate operating system.
I asked the Toshiba if it weren't harming pc upgrade this system to Windows 8 and they said that it might be precisely the difficulties is that this pc do not have the necessary drivers.

I wanted to ask if anyone of you have a pc like mine and did also to the Windows 8 upgrade and if he found problems to connect devices such as printer or USB hub or other

    Thank you

    @ valkyrie
Usually, you should not have serious problems to help to win 8, even if the official drivers from Toshiba are not released for this series of portable.

Most of the devices would be recognized by Win 8 automatically because the common drivers are part of the system Win 8.

Of course, it could be possible that you will not be able to use some additional features laptop like multimedia keys or function due to lack of drivers Toshiba keys, but I think that this would not be a big problem to effectively use the laptop.

I also think that you can try to install the drivers Win 8 of which have been released for other Qosmio series. Some drivers should work as well.

Last but not least, you should also consider installing Win 7 as mentioned by Timox.
The point is that Win 7 is similar to Vista, but it of much better than the early Vista operating system.
Win 8 is OK, but it follows completely different design and use.
