Question about deleting data from the HARD drive

Hello

The C drive on my computer satellite phone is almost full, 1.21 Gb free of 55.7 and drive E has 10.9 GB 36 GB free. How can I solve this problem. I am not concerned by what is deleted. It can go if you have to.

Slowing down the laptop down to something serious.

Any help would be great.

Hello

It seems that drive E has little more free space
So, you can move some files like photos, movies, files pm3 or any that you have stored on the partition, the partition E.

You can also reduce the E partition and can add free space on the C partition.
To do this, you must use a 3rd party software
I recommend using a freeware tool called * Gparted.*

How to get it? Google is your friend ;)

  • erasure of data from the hard drive?

Hey Microsoft, I have a problem

I had two boot(win_xp_pro_and_win_7_ult).they are the two 32 bit.

so I tried exchanging win xp with win vista ult 32 bit (download, NOT on the cd).

I started to install and after 4 5 steps made my pc restarted and it stuck at "Please wait windows is to configure your computer" or something similar to this for 30-40 minutes.

I rebooted it and started on win 7 I started by now. I tried to start the whole process of win 7, hoping that it will not get stuck, but he said I need space on my hard drive I got previously from win xp. So I opened up Explorer and I have seen that there are a few new files (from win vista).

I tried once more (started on vista) and my pc has been blocked for the same post in front. So I decided to free up space and tried to format the hard drive, but I received a message(on_win_7):Windows was unable to complete the format. I tried to delete all the files, but I've done worse thereby; I get error file missing at the start of vista. I have the installation files on my win 7 and I want to delete everything on my hard drive.

Please help and thanks in advance!

    Hello

You want to eventually dual boot Vista and Windows 7.

And make a Bootable DVD from the downloaded ISO of Vista.

And Neosmart has instructions on how to burn ISO disk images using imgburn:

  • Can I delete data from my hard drive program files

I have Vista Home Basic on an Acer Aspire5315. I bought 200 GB of RAM. Now I have less than 10% room on the drive C of ACER. There are a lot of Data\Microsoft\Search \Data program files on the hard drive. I can remove them?

    Hi Judith,

You should not delete these, program data files are stored by Applications you have installed on your computer. If you delete, it will make these programs to crash.

RAM memory is a temporary memory to keep track of things that are open (among others), it does not affect the storage space. In addition, there are no 200 GB of ram.
Download and install CCleaner, which can cancel the entire space that Windows generates throughs months/years of use here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Then once it is installed, quit all browsers you have open and run CCleaner
Then click Cleaner (the icon of the brush).
Then check all the boxes in the Internet Explorer category
Check all the boxes in the category of Windows Explorer
Check all the boxes in the category System (and for each one you receive, press OK)
Click on the Applications tab, and then check all the boxes in there.
Now click the Run Cleaner button
That will clear all the clutter.
Now, if you click on Tools
    Click on the Uninstall tab
Here you can see the list of programs that you have installed
Select any software/tool bar you don't need and click run program uninstaller.
That will save you a lot of space on your drive.
  • Reserectes from long deleted files from the hard drive Windows 7 Pro.

Long very old files deleted, appear in My Document (files not necessarily the original). Repeatedly remove them, using a shredder program, they always appear. I wonder if the problem will be resolved to a clean install.

Programs may not be transferred.  They must be installed again from your record source or internet downloads.

Data can be transferred to a new system.  The best way to do this is to copy the data from your drive to be replaced (assuming that he still works) on a disk hard external - that's what you should be backup anyway - then, after your system is rebuilt, you can transfer data from this external storage on the disk.

    Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

  • My main computer crashed and the data has been retrieved from the hard drive, including all of my Outlook Express dbx files

I'll provide too much information because those of us who are computer knuckleheads think that everything is important since it is a mystery to us.

My main computer crashed and the data has been retrieved from the hard drive, including all of my Outlook Express dbx files. There are four years of e-mails in these files and critical that I be able to open them.

My only working computer running XP. It has Outlook Express is installed on it and was once used for e-mail, but not more and not implemented with my ISP to send or receive if it matters at all. Other that the sending and receiving of all the other functions of the OE program appear to be operational.

I have read many explanations on how to open the files dbx on different sites - all is completely different and most seem well beyond my skill level.

There is a fairly painless way to open these files? I don't want to try anything that could damage them. Please... any solution please guide me through in its simplest form - I am 64 but pretend you are explaining the process to a 7 year old. Yes, I'm that lame!

Sorry for writing a novel and thank you to all who take their time to help the ignorant!

I advise you to immediately copies of your DBX files restored. Save the duplicates in a place safe, and don't mess with them.
Then try using one of the various tutorials that you have found on the Internet by using a copy of your DBX files restored.
I did it a few times, but years ago and I DBX http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/questions/how-i-open-corrupted-dbx-files-in-oe/ visualization tool
You just continue to make attempts, using a tutorial after another.
As long as you have these unchanged copies of backup of your DBX files, you should survive it - other than frustration. Email PC remains a mess.

  • How to copy data from one hard drive to another after the upgrade?

I have a HP e9220y, and I recently bought a new hard drive for it. There is nothing wrong with the former, but this one has a 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM so I hope it will be a little faster. I installed it and it works fine, but I want to copy all data from the old disk to the new so I can start everything off the faster hard drive and I seem to have a bit of doing wrong. I can't just copy and paste because of the Windows system files that are used. And last night when I set up Windows backup, and went to bed, when I thought it that Windows has recovered from a stop unexpected, rebooted, and only 2 GB of data saved obtained.

What is the best way to move all the data from the old drive to the new drive, make it the default C: drive and move partitions system and factory_image as well? Thank you!

    (1) If your old drive and the new drive is Seagate or Western Digital, then free House with their cloning software.

    (2) before starting the clone process, I found best to perform a disk cleanup and defragmentation.

Cloning software to copy the two partitions. Example:

    Old drive 250 GB formatted to 232 C: created 220 and 12 GB D:

New 1000GO drive formatted to 931 GB created 919 GB C: and D: to 12 GB

The "Seagate disc Wizard" cloning software will let create you a clone automatic or manual partition resizing.

The two modes to offer an overview of the actions before commit you. The manual on this page of Seagate (PDF) is 68 pages.

After the cloning process he complete, all you have to do is swap on the disks. Besure to connect your new disc on the original motherboard SATA port.

  • Satellite A200 - Crackle sound comes from the HARD drive

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200. When I start my laptop the patter comes from the hard drive.
    Someone knows something about it?

    Thank you
    Vikas

In my view there s nothing wrong with your HARD drive.
My drive HARD click every time while accessing data on the laptop and everything run ok for 3 years.

But that doesn t mean that there is no hardware problem with your HARD drive. Usually it's not easy to tell when a HARD drive wound begins to malfunction. My first HARD drive died after 6 years of use. But the other HARD drive died after 1.5 years. This damage was covered by the warranty.

Finally, I would recommend backup your data always on an external HARD disk to prevent data damage.

    Good bye

  • Recovery of data from a hard drive.

I have a hard drive that was used to store data (i.e. The drive D:\).  Suddenly, it is not recognized as being in the format and/or I'm unable to access the data.

You can use data recovery software to restore your data from your hard drive inaccessible. The I know is Remo Recover (Windows), it's a good recovery software. It supports recovery of files from the formatted hard drive. It can also recover your partitions deleted from your hard drive.

  • Access the data on the hard drive

My hard drive on my laptop failed.  I replaced and reinstalled windows vista, but I could not access any data on the old hard drive.  I was able to install it as a backup of my desktop computer hard drive and I can see the directory structure, however, whenever I try to access the data in My Documents, I get an error G:\users\moe\documents\my is music is not accessible access is denied.  Any ideas how I can access this information, assuming that it is not a physical problem with the hard drive.  I have the password of windows I used to access the computer, but I don't know how to use it since this drive is not the one I am running windows from.  The computer that I use to access the data on the hard drive is on windows XP, if that makes a difference.

The computer tries to access the old hard drive and the old hard drive are XP.  It is a forum for Vista.  All the procedures I have on this issue are only for Vista.  You should repost your question in the right place.

Please repost your question in the Forums XP: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsxp where XP experts will be happy to help you to gain access.  I don't know it's just a simple issue of permissions and/or property which can be easily solved with the correct procedures.

I hope this helps.  If you later need help transfer of data to the Vista machine, then come back here and we will help you.

    Good luck!

  • With the help of successful library - Photos can delete originals on the hard drive?

I have "manually manage" my Apple photo library (that is, what some call the "referenced" option).

I created a smart photo album I want to permanently remove it from my Mac (out of focus, test shots, etc.). I'm curious to know if there is a way to use the Photo app to actually remove the vs photos through my individual files to perform this operation manually. This would be similar to iTunes when you remove the music, he asks if you want to delete the original files.

I figured out how "reveal in finder" - but that does not let me do a single image at a time. I would rather try to make it in bulk.

To be clear, I know how to remove pictures of pictures. I would go a little further and remove them from my Mac altogether.

If you use a library "referenced" then it is your responsibility to delete the source files / referenced from the drive hard when you delete them from the photo library.  I have not seen any solution mentioned in these forums on how to automatically delete the source files.  One of the several disadvantages to manage a library of reference.

If the extra work required to locate and delete the source files became too much, you can always consolidate library while it's now a "managed" and then deleting the library library will remove the files from the hard drive as well.

  • Could not initialize and I need to recover the data on the hard drive.

Original title: computer MOM will not start and I need to recover the data on the hard drive.

It's an old computer and I do not know what version of Windows it was running.  I guess I need a bootdisk of exploitation, but where can I download that?  Or would it be easier to pull and make a secondary drive in my computer that I just replaced?  It works under Windows XP.

    Hello

If the old system does not start could be the hard drive. Put the hard drive in another computer as a 2nd drive and then access the files. If you use a computer XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should be able to access the files, unless the drive has failed.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd drive (better) or a USB external drive case and then save up to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This will not work if the hard disk is defective or other issues preventing the system from booting from the CD/DVD drive.)

Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

  • Deleting files from the HARD disk without confirmation?

My catalog has thousands of duplicates.  I began to remove them by opening each folder & select 1 or more and do a right click to remove.  Whenever I do this I wonder if I want to remove the HARD drive as well and I always say Yes.  Is it possible to remove the step that requires the conformation?

    I don't think so.

But what you can do instead to delete each file individually: you can try to assign a keyword such as 'tobedeleted' to the selected files. You can assign the keyword for multiple files highlighted on your screen, browse another page and so on. When you're done, you select all files with that keyword and delete all at the same time with a single click to ' also delete disk.
