Question about hard drive replacement on Equium A100-147

My hard drive is only 60 GB with 2 GB of ram. Any body know if it is possible to upgrade the disk hard at, say 120 GB or more information on this model.
If so where can she come from please?

Hello

I put t see any reasons why the 120 GB HARD drive should not work.
The A100 series is a new series of laptop and controller HDD & BIOS should support these dimensions.

But very important, is that you use a HARD disk with compatible interface and supported.
As far as I know the laptop supports SATA HDD.

Best regards and have a nice day ;)

  • Portege R700-1hd: Questions about HARD drive replacement and passwords

I have a 1hd R700 with 320 GB HARD drive in stock. I want to upgrade it to 500 GB. This update should be pretty simple, cloning from the old to the new.

However, I was wondering about the HARD drive password / finger.
My HARD drive it configured to use a fingerprint/password on boot - I guess that it is involved in the BIOS and the drive itself, but I'm not exactly sure how.
I think the HARD drive itself is locked, it is not a Windows or BIOS password.

If I change the HARD drive will still be able to use startup disk HARD password/fingerprint? Are there requirements for material of HARD drive I need to consider before buying new HARD drive? As should be a specific type of HARD drive to work with password disk HARD/fingerprint digital?

    Thank you

    Hi bullerd,

The HARD drive password is stored on the HARD drive so when you replace the HARD drive you must set a new password of HDD in BIOS. The password is not stored in the BIOS. In addition fingerprints can also be stored on the HARD drive or let s say fingerprint digital software but all of the operating system must be installed after Exchange HARD drive so it s new problem.

So the two passwords you mentioned are stored on the HARD drive so it s no problem to swap the HARD drive. :)

  • Tecra A4: Question about HARD drive replacement

I have a Toshiba Tecra A4. Can someone tell me where I can find instructions to remove the HARD drive?

    Hi Niek

As much as I know replacing the HARD drive is not complicated.
The HARD drive slot is placed at the bottom of the unit.
You will find a HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw.
Please remove this screw and remove the cover.
Then you can remove the HARD drive attention.

PS: I think that the HARD drive is placed in the chassis. You may also remove this framework to place the other HARD drive.

    Hello

Satellite P30 was delivered with different HARD drive sizes.
I know that the P30-102 has been delivered with the HARD disk that supports the interface IDE (ATA-6) increased to 100 GB!

So I advise to use the similar with the same kind of interface.

  • Possible replacement of Equium A100 - 147 HDD 250 GB?

    Hello

I own an Equium A100-147 with 60 GB HARD drive. I have a recovery disc and have restored the laptop several times.

I am considering an upgrade to 250 GB HARD drive.

    Couple of questions...

The motherboard will host a 250 GB drive?

If I replace the HARD drive recover CD will install a new copy of the fatory software you (inc windows xp MCE)?

    Any advice would be welcome.

Yes, you can use a 250 GB. The laptop has a SATA interface and there is no limit as to IDE.

If you use the recovery CD, you will get to factory settings. This means an XP installation with all the drivers and tools.

  • Question of hard drive replacement warranty.

I just bought my first Dell laptop, which comes with 1 year limited warranty.

The laptop itself has a 1 TB HDD and an SSD of 32 GB. If I took it to an authorized and had the SSD has swapped a larger internal drive, is that voids the warranty on the machine?

It's my first computer I actually bought for my part, I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

You did not mention the computer model of office or the laptop you are talking about if this response is from guess your configuration.

Generally systems with a mechanical hard drive capacity (the disk of 1 TB in your case) and a small capacity SSD (32 GB in your case) are delivered with the ssd configured to be used as two player cache to accelerate the use of the disc hard capacity mechanical with the software Intel Rapid STORAGE, but also a way to speed up startup and wake from sleep with the Intel Rapid START software.   The small capacity of 32 GB SSD is very probably a small card called mSATA (micro SATA).   A 32 GB drive is not enough space to use as a boot drive.  There are 64, 128, 256 GB mSATA but discs are not really worth the expense.   It isn't really a replacement value for the mechanical hard drive capacity with a 2.5 "SSD (very expensive for a1gb SSD 2.5" ($400?).)

The combination of a mechanical drive inexpensive large capacity and low capacity mSATA is the best of both worlds, great amount of storage at a low price and the fast performance of an SSD as you often use the same files over and over again and the SSD used as cache makes the system behaves almost as fast as a machine that has only a solid state for most of the users drive.

All that is to say that you have probably no need to spend money on an update unless you need to improve the marginal performance it provides, or you simply have money burning a hole in your pocket and want to spend.

To answer your question on if your warranty make changes to your original system configuration, the answer is now.  However, if you encounter a problem that Dell feels support is linked to a part, you added to the system they may ask you to remove it and restore the original return to figuration co system to continue troubleshooting... But it is quite likely that this would never happen.

  • Question about hard drive storage on Satellite Pro L40

I have a Satellite Pro L40. Memory hard drive seems to be divided into two (about 35 GB each) under Vista C and e of data.
Vista C is almost full. How can I use/access the E-data memory?

    Hi Bart

Please don't get me wrong, but your question is really strange. I mean after reading your post, I'm really interested in your PC knowledge and how long you use your laptop.

You want to know is basic stuff and must be learned first when you start using computers.
When you have the time to try to get some book on WXP or Vista and all know about operating systems and how to use them.

Open Windows Explorer, and you will have direct access to the second partition. You can move files from C to D, or save all data directly on the D partition.

Google a bit. You can find many Web pages on basic stuff to the use of operating system.

  • Satellite M70-192 - question of HARD drive replacement

    Hello...

It's just my first time to ask for help in this forum... and besides, in any forum on the whole wide net.
So, sorry if am don't do this right... that's...

My brother bought a laptop (Toshiba Satellite M70 - 192 psm71e-01k00rar) of the Kuwait around 2006. A few months ago we started hearing "noise noise deaf deaf" - ing sound inside the camera and the screen is just deleted (there was an error message that is encrypted but I wasn't able to note it). I was able to boot from the DVD or USB drive. So I thought that maybe the hard drive has been the only problem.

I put in a new HARD drive (a 320 GB western digital scorpio wd3200bevt) and started to reinstall the system (I forgot which of the 2 supplied Toshiba cd I inserted first - media cd or the windows xp CD-ROM) but in the middle of installing the keyboard area was so hot that I unplugged / stop the laptop immediately.

After that, the HARD drive has become invisible to any Linux or rescue CD or utility of HARD drive that I tried to boot from... (fortunately?) The said HDD vendor as the HARD wd scorpio drive + really + defective and they replaced...

    * now the questions: * I discovered that the rated current for the HARD drive (60 GB) provided originally for the Toshiba M70 is a little bigger than the new wd scorpio *(.55 amp) *. Could this be the reason why the 1st WD Scorpion got "fried"?
    Is it a SATA1 - SATA2 question?
How can I _properly_ replace/upgrade our laptop HARD drive?

Please note that before I bought the new HARD drive, I ve read somewhere in the "net I could use a disk sata2 on a sata1 controller, etc. + * pls help!" * +

Toshiba services are simply too expensive for me right now if will send it (cell phone) in a licensed shop. Why I'm in DIY mode that s. I don't think I can afford an another fried Scorpion!

    Thank you!
    yours,
    TAC

    > I discovered that the rated current for the HARD drive (60 GB) provided originally for the Toshiba M70 is a little bigger than the new wd Scorpion (.55 MPA). Could this be the reason why the 1st WD Scorpion got "fried"?

I don t think that a larger and faster HARD drive might be the reason for the higher internal temperature.
You said that you have heard and his strange "noise noise deaf deaf." Such sound could be created by the defective cooling module. A defective module could be responsible for the highest internal temperature

    > Is it a SATA1 - SATA2 question?
    Here's your second thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=150272
You can see that the SATA2 is compatible to the bottom and the s SATA2 HARD drive would work with common controller SATA HDD.

    > How can I properly replace/upgrade our laptop HARD drive?
Replacing the HARD drive is not difficult. I see that you have already found the HARD drive Bay and bought a HARD drive.
In your case I recommend using the common SATA 2.5 HARD drive with 100 GB maybe 120 GB.

    Welcome them

  • Question about hard drive Partitions

My Satellite C650 bought recently has two equal size partitions - C (called Windows) and D (known as data). However, my "Users" folder and so all my data is stored on the C drive (with all programs) while the D drive and has only the HDD Recovery inside folder. This means that I have access to half of my total disk space.

How to move my file 'Users' the D drive - and if I do - it somehow it is interfering with the HARD drive folder?
This can be as simple as move the users folder - but I'm not sure if the installation of 'Libraries' or all Office programs will always seek on the C drive for data.

I would like some advice before as I did try.

    >... While the D drive has only the HDD Recovery inside folder. This means that I have access to half of my total disk space.
That s not the truth. You can use the free space on the second partition. HDDrecovery is just a folder where recovery image is saved. You can enter the folder properties and set it as invisible and you will see it.

This recovery is important for two things:
-for the creation of recovery DVDs
    -for HARD drive recovery procedure.

Generally speaking, if you have created recovery DVD (highly recommended) you can delete this folder, but after doing this, you will not be able to create recovery DVDs or of the installation of recovery disk (F8 at startup).

You have to understand how it works?
If you have any other questions please let me know.

  • Satellite 230cx: Question about HARD drive, memory and CD recovery.

Can someone tell me if I can get a recovery for a 230cx disk? And what is the max hard drive that I have and RAM.

    Thank you...

    Hello

Well, it is a very old unit. I think that it s about 8 or 9 years.
However, I found the information that this unit has an internal memory of 16 MB and it of possible to upgrade the memory for max 144 MB (16 + 128MB)
Also, this unit has been delivered with a 1.37 GB HDD part Nr.: P000229560
I don t think you will be able to use a big HDD like 10 GB. The BIOS couldn't t recognize the HARD drive. Sorry but there is no information on the maximum size of HARD drive.

The recovery CD, you must order the Toshiba service partner.

  • Re: Question about HARD drive partitions

My uncle bought me a laptop Satellite A100 European 5 months ago and I don t have the card with me. Then all of a sudden, my operating system has been corrupted and I had to format my hard drive. I used the recovery CD I received with the laptop. The box contains 3 CD. I followed the instructions.

I had to use two of the CD and now I only have one big disk.
Is it possible for me to make the hard disk partition after formatting?
    Help, please!

The description provided by sanremo only works with Vista.
If you have a XP OS you will need a 3rd party application like Partition Magic 8, for example.
I use this PM8 and I m very happy. This great software to create, manage and edit the partitions on the HARD disk.

  • Satellite 2410: Question on HARD drive replacement

    Hello

The hard drive on my laptop Satellite 2410 died a few days ago. Replace it with another, one Seagate.

I don't have my CD of restoration, however, I have the retail CD of Windows XP. Would it not possible to install Windows XP from a CD at retail? Or do I NEED to have the restore CD that came with the laptop.

If I indeed restore it CDs, where can I get replacement CD since then?

    Hello Rizwan

If you n t have the Toshiba Recovery Cd, you can use the original Windows operating system.
In addition, you need Toshiba drivers and tools. What you can find on the Toshiba site.
You need to download the drivers and install them after installing Windows.

Here you can download the drivers:

  • Satellite A60 - question of HARD drive replacement

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The HARD drive died recently and I'm looking to replace it. I want to know what disk drive specification, the Toshiba Satellite A60 can support. It originally had a MK3025GAS
    HDD2196B ZE01 S 30 GB 2.5 "drive.

    1. I would like to replace it with a larger capacity drive. What is the capacity (GB) and speed the A60 can bear?

    2. do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other 2.5 "drive (Seagate, Fujitsu, etc...)?

    Hello

As far as I know the old Satellite A60 supports one IDE controller.
This means that you must use a 2.5 IDE (ATA) HARD drive.
As far as I know the older IDE controller are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA (address logic bit).
Then maybe you should start with a 120 GB HDD, which must be compatible, even if the controller would be limited to 128 GB.

But standard ATA-6 (also called TONGA-100) does support 48 bit LBA in this case, it is not limited to 128 GB. You can check controller HARD drive using tools such as SANDRA or Everest Home Edition freeware soft for the information on the controller built in the A60.

    > 2. Do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other disk 2.5 "
You can use any HARD drive that meets the requirements (IDE, 2.5)
