  If I'm currently editing a text and the edge of the box is a line of "in dotted blue" means that the text is locked for editing? If yes how do I change the text? When I try to click inside the text, that it doesn't allow me to type in the text box.

  The dotted blue line indicates that the item is on a Master Page. You can edit in the master page, or shift + command + click (mac) to open it on the page of your document.

  Best practice is to avoid having things on master pages that will need to be unlocked.

• Question of InDesign CS6 folio builder/links. For iPad.

  Hello. I'm a graphic designer who is very experienced in InDesign using the software to fine printing. I am now branching out with CS6 capabilities and learning design (mainly presentation) applications for the iPad. So I designed a portfolio as a document of several pages including the page orientation to portrait and landscape. The app consists of a sheet of starter that would be a load of animation exported as swf and back imported in InDesign such as HTML5, or MP4, or however (I've nailed it yet because I leave this until the last that this page will be used as screensaver until swiped). When the Viewer slide page 1 they enter the main page "content" with a load of thumbnails within these customers and clients I have charge of case studies. So, I have pretty much designed the layout and that you have to build, but I need to know what I'm limited by.

  page 3 will be the 1st client and will need about 6 case studies, I guess I'll need to make additional pages. And so on.

  In any case, I digress the question I ask is the one to download and test on the iPad via the content player I obviously need to download items in the form of separate pages (incorporating the guidelines both H & V), but I would make the links on my page "content" when the document is a multipage document (IE in its original state) or apply I have these links (as buttons I guess rather than) hyperlinks) when the articles have been separated and I work with page 01, 02, 03 etc in folio Builder? I know not how to create thumbnail buttons but I can't work out how to link them to their desired targets (next page/page no. / etc. etc.) for the record, I would like to present my work on an iPad as an application, without relying on WIFI or 3 G. Last question (phew) is that I have a picture frame with a slide show-is it possible for the Viewer to click on them and open them in full-screen and flick/navigate through this way? then click on a cross in the back of the top corner of the page to the screen they were on. • Question about installing CS6 Student Edition

  I bought the student Adobe cs6 about one year version, unfortunately at the time I made this purchase my laptop died. I recently graduated from College, but I was wondering if there is a window of time that I need to install more before I are no longer eligible as a student / or if I won't be able to install and register. Currently, I have a work computer, but do not want to install the program until I get my own computer. In addition, the number of devices can I install student edition on? If I need to install it before my student status expires, I would install on my work computer and I hope to get my own personal ASAP device and install it on that as well if possible.   If you are a student, then you can install and use the software.

  For the installation on a computer work going, it is usually the company that employs you.  Most of the companies control what is and is not allowed to be installed on a computer they own.

• Question about InDesign: master page items I delete will not be missing.

  I'm working on bringing a book, with chapters that are separate files. Of course, there are a master page with various guides that I use a lot, as well as a header running pretty standard with the names section and chapter and page numbers. As is standard practice, I would like to appear on almost all the pages, but not on the front pages of the chapters. (There are other times I might want to replace it, but that is the main). So, I Ctrl-Shift-click, then delete them when I put in place a new chapter.

  Problem is that they are not missing. Every so often, I open a previous chapter and find that these items are back on the first page of this chapter, and I remove them again. I only noticed this since I did the chapters in question in a book file so that I can keep an eye on my pages and synchronize styles more easily.

  My best guess is that maybe it has something to do with the aforementioned synchronization. I don't want these chapters to share the same master pages, but don't want to keep IDto re-application of the elements of their share to the individual pages that I have already manually the deleted since (sometimes more than once). How can I stop this from happening? (Or otherwise, if it is not the cause of the problem, what else could be and how to deal with that?)

  Create a different master page based on your primary master page for these pages. Do not make substitutions on the pages of work.

• Question of InDesign CS6 with guy jumping around...

  I'm quite proficient with InDesign. I have a newsletter full of copy. Some of the type is jump around as if there is a skin on a something behind him, but there isn't. I noticed that if I change the 'Standard paragraph' paragraph style "No paragraph Style" the problem of the text break goes away, but I have to reformat all my copy. I built this file myself, but it was happening around different art directors all the time. I never put in place of paragraph styles.   Jump around can mean many different things. The first to come to mind is whole to line up on the starting grid.

InDesign crashes about 2 or 3 times just for fun, then this afternoon when I tried to export a PDF file, I noticed that there is some text missing on my screen. I checked and without layers are locked and there is nothing on master pages... I don't want to go back and retype all data... It is all the text, the text just random boxes.   I deleted the files of Version 8.0 of my cahses and my prefrences file folder but nothing works.

  You can doownload an installer from here: download Creative Suite 6 applications

  Uninstall using the installer in the application, but be prepared for problems. CS6 is unsupported under El Capitan. We have seen a number of problems with it and there won't be updates to fix.

• Yosemite & NEW installation of InDesign CS6 - questions?

  I installed on my 2010 Yosemite MacBook Pro. My boss wants me to buy InDesign CS6 as a new installation. (I've never had any version of InDesign installed on my Mac). I prefer InDesign CC, but he's going for him.

  I've seen a few questions where those who have already installed versions of InDesign CS6 have problems with it after the installation of Yosemite.

  Given that mine would be a NEW installation of InDesign CS6 on a Mac of Yosemite, I wonder if there are any known issues.

  (I'm not having problems with already installed versions of Photoshop CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 and Yosemite).

  The problems are happening with update installs Yosemite. If you did a clean installation, you should be fine. An upgrade? Anything other than a roll of the dice.

  Download the trial version and give it a whirl.

  BTW, you could explain to your boss that CS6 will cost $700. A subscription to InDesign will be $ 20 $par month.

  I agree with the screen name of Test in this regard. Technical publications represent only a small percentage of the market of InDesign. And it is likely that the authors of these publications InDesign may not have heard of the S1000D specification.

• How do we uninstall InDesign CS6 so I can install CC version

  I can not update InDesign CC - I get an error of Installation has failed. I have CS6 on my computer and I can't uninstall it using the Windows Control Panel or the cleaning of Adobe tool. Windows Control Panel returns a failed uninstall error and sends me to the Adobe cleaning tool. The cleaning of Adobe tool does not see the CS6 of InDesign version to unistall it.

• Questions about student discount for CS6

  I know I want to get the premium Production CS6 from B & H, but just recently that I realized that my class of media production could possibly make me eligible for a discount for students. I have a few questions about get a student discount I've ever gotten before.

  My first question is: should I still pay the rest of the full price? Or, more important still, the student version will stop working after a period of time?

  My second and more important question is about installing on more than 1 PC. I am currently on my beast of a laptop. The iMac to my school with short CS6 smooth like butter, and it's spec lower than my laptop. Despite this, I plan to get a PC in the future office of Monster for my productions and I'm confused about my rights to installation with a copy of the student. I understand very well that I can't install it on the computer of another of Kathy; only on my own computer. He mentions (for teacher I guess) you will need to purchase additional licenses for installation on other computers. This means that when I buy a new computer, I need to buy a new license as well? Or I can use the one provided in the box?

  Your license does not expire and you never have to pay the price difference. You can install the suite on one type of computer, even if you have 2 activations. A series of PC does not work on Mac and vice versa. Only 2 PC installs will work or 2 Mac ones, respectively. The activations can be managed for in applications or by giving the customer a call to reset, if you their exhausted and forgot to turn it off.
