  • Questions about new HA in vsphere features 5

    Hello!

I have a few questions about new ha features in vsphere 5

I found, there is a master ha in the cluster that monitors other hosts and protected virtual machines through two type of heartbeats (network and data store) and move the VMS if necessary. If this host fails, an election is held and new master ha is determined by vcenter server.

Ok! What happens if we install vCenter Server as a virtual machine inside the host who is the master ha in a cluster. If this host fails (something like a power cut) its agent goes too far and also the vcenter is destroyed. So, who's going to hold the election and introduce the new ha so that the old ha and vCenter are out of the game.

I know that ha staff are not entirely dependent on vCenter and runs if the host taking vcenter is far (restart vms including vcenter or moved to another host on another) but I think this one is different because of the new role of master

My next question is on the different types of events, which can arrive at the slave of the hosts and do their partitioned or isolation. I'll ask them later (once this question is answered

    Thanks to you all

you mean master election (who needs to know the host object id in the cluster and the number of data warehouses connected and...) is performed by agents themselves? and he needs no intervention vcenter?

No fix - no intervention from vCenter for an election of master.

and another thing. When the host with vCenter machine on it and the role of chess master, how other officers find that the master is absent? is not the work of vcenter to notice and say to others when master does not work?

Is not work of vCenter - is the work of the master and the process of hearbeating among the slaves.

what I doubt is that: If slave hosts loose connectivity with the master, they think that they are faulty and should present themselves as isolated or partitioned and it is the duty of the vcenter to know when the captain does not work! can you please correct me here

See above - is not vCenter work to determine which node is failed or isolated - it's the work of agents FDM.

  • HP TouchSmart model 1 Q 504: find a new wireless mouse

Full name of the operating system is Microsoft Windows Vista Home premium.   None of the mice I can find indicate compatibility with Microsoft Windows VIsta.  Where can I get a compatible wireless mouse?  Does not seem as if it should be a problem.

    madskater1

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

This is because hardware manufacturers only list the most recent Windows operating system for compatibility purposes.  People are more concerned material working with current, only with the major operating systems.

A mouse that works with Win7 should work fine with Vista.  The only question you may have is if the mouse comes with software implementation of special features and these features are only supported on specific free software.  Logitech did with their MouseWare software.  So if you bought a new Logitech mouse and you want to use MouseWare (which, BTW, is not necessary for general use of the mouse), you will need to track down an old version of their software.

    Good luck

  • Wireless rookie - question about mesh wireless internal

I was asked to help set up a wireless network for a medical center. We have a lot of time before its opening, then it's time to test. I would like to recommend some sort of redundancy between the AP in this time, it will take about 16 to cover the area. Being a medical institution, if a resuscitation access point fails, better if the client devices connect to another. My question, am I right to say that we need a controller to achieve? I built and installed the wired LAN, so here's my chance to build my skills wireless

    Thank you very much

    Ray

The best way to build redundancy into your wireless infrastructure is to use a concept called "microcells". By installing more APs to the smallest power of radio, you have the luxury to increase the signal strength of nearby access point if it does not. Consider the alternative, which is to install less APs 100% power, but if we fail, you cannot increase the power of APs nearby.

Now, a controller can adjust automatically is close to the levels of power of the APs when it happens, but it can be manipulated manually in a stand-alone environment.

Finally, if you have already installed a wireless to 100% of power infrastructure, you can install redundant APs in a standby mode. AP backup monitors the active PA, and it lights up immediately if the active access point fails. You must usually install these APs right next to those involved.

Regardless of the redundancy used, customers will see a hiccup in service when the AP goes down. This can be avoided, if the new access point roaming must be extremely fast. This will only affect you if you are using time-sensitive applications, and even in this case, it might not be noticed.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Satellite C660-1F1 - Question about newer drivers and the speed of the memory

Some of the drivers for this laptop are outdated compared to the most recent drivers on peripheral manufacters website. Is it safe to use these new drivers or is it recommended to stick with the old drivers that are on the Toshiba site?

And second question: is it possible to make the fastest possible working memory supported? Don t BIOS options include options for the parameters of memory. Why the memory is running as low mhz in case of default? CPU - Z shows that the current frequency of dram is 532, 2 mhz. What is the maximum, it is at 667 mhz? Probably she can´t be 1 066 MHz as promised in the specs?

    Hi cryogenized,.

    > Some of the drivers for this laptop are outdated compared to the most recent drivers on peripheral manufacters website. Is it safe to use these new drivers or is it recommended to stick with the old drivers that are on the Toshiba site?
Why you want to update your drivers? Do you expect a gain of performance with newer drivers?

Way General, with official Toshiba drivers you are on the safe side because they are pre-tested. If you can make sure that they work properly and don t cause property damage. Install the other drivers happens on your own risk!

    > And second question: is it possible to make the fastest possible working memory supported? Don t BIOS options include options for the parameters of memory. The laptop is equipped with modules of DDR3 1066 MHz and the RAM speed is dependent on the FSB of the processor. If your CPU is throttling down, RAM modules will work also on low speed. On a high utilization of the processor (100%) the RAM modules must run with speed of 1066 MHz I think.

  • Two questions about new Portege R700

    Hi all

I brought a R7001F7 a few days earlier, there are a few question I hope some of you could help.

    1. the base of the laptop is not level (balanced) and oscillates to right, the rubber foot doesn't seem to be the culprit, don't know if it's badly formed chassis...

    2. the memory status shows 4 GB of available but only 2 GB usable, the speed is rather disappointed, is there a way to improve this? I miss some settings? because it is expected to reach the maximum of 4 GB...

Did anyone of you met the above question? Since I just brought it, do you think I will return the machine or contact the security team? The problem is, I noticed these question, I am already registered in the machine on the warranty, don't know if I can still get a refund... However, I already transfer all my files system... This is why I would be very grateful if someone could give me some advice here.

    Thank you

    DLO

    Hello

In General, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They know how to act in such situations, especially about Visual problems.

Can you please tell us what R700 you exactly (R700-xxx). Is 32-bit win7 preinstalled on your laptop?
More on the use of the RAM on 32 bit OS you can read here - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

What about the speed of the laptop or the performance in general? It doesn t depend on RAM only. It is very important that the preinstalled OS is properly configured. Original recovery image that you got with your laptop contains many tools and utilities that run in the background and reduce s for laptop performance.

I recommend checking the applications running (start > run > msconfig > startup) and disable all unnecessary and utility tools. What makes the slow OS is tempro and preinstalled anti-virus software.

    Check it out.

I have a Tecra M1 with 21003B wireless adapter. Company connection to one of our Wi - Fi points poses no problem - stay connected is a science.

All the 1-2 hours all Wi - Fi access points 'disappear' app to auto-detection. The only way to reconnect is to disconnect XP (SP2).

  • Question about new BIOS on Satellite L20 182

    HI :)

I have a question: can I install new BIOS 2.20 on my Satellite L20 182 model No. PSL2XE?
If I can't, why PSL2X users do this? Are there differences in the two models?

Hello and sorry for my English - I'n not the best :)

    Hello

just for explanation: the bios you mentioned is good the machine bios. Toshiba is not writing the complete model number since there is a range of numbers of the same model, Don t so you need not worry, they are not different. Maybe the last digit, but it is not important to you.
Why am I knowing this? Because many manufacturers are doing this and I've been several times confused when updating the BIOS from another manufacturer...

    Welcome them

  • Envy 17: Questions about New 17 "computers laptops Envy with 6th Gen Skylake processors

I see the new Skylake i7 CPU showed in the line of envy (I waited for my purchase), but he has very little information provided on the HP site and what's next is some confussion. I mean, I'm looking at a $2,000 laptop - a little information on the sales page would be nice!

There are 2 17 '' want options (not the best value) that are customizable - display a touch and the other not.

No touch lists a 256GB SSD option, and 1 TB spinner - touch lists a SSD 512 GB or double spinners.

Basically, I can assume there are 2-Bay 2.5 "as previous models of envy, but what is the SSD? It is a 2.5 "SATA? What is M2? Is - this mSATA? If it's M2 or mSATA is on the lower part of the Board of Directors and easily replaceable?

Which in the end line want is a bunch of fo SSD 512 GB (or 1 TB) and a cone of 1 TB for storage and available configs don't happen. Can I do it myself?

Well, I guess I answered my own question...

(manual for the 2015 Envy 17 is located @ http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04696907)

The manual shows a connection for the SSD with two m2 2 2.5 "bays. For those who wish to have a second (or third) car related parts appear to be:

Hard drive cable 813795-001 (not shown)

  • Question about new Mac client

We went just to view 4.5. We had the 'AllowDirectRDP' option located in the political ad group to refuse direct RDP sessions in view 4.0, for extra security. Now that the Mac has a 'real' customer and may not use the web portal, one of our users is more able to enter his office. He receives an "Access denied" message, which origin of this group policy setting. I see in http://code.google.com/p/vmware-view-open-client/issues/detail?id=81 it seems that this option must be enabled for the Mac to connect with the new client. Anyone know if he's going to be a difficulty for us to stop direct RDP back again and have the Mac client still works? It's a precaution extra security for us, and now allow Mac users to get to drop this option, and I would get back eventually.

Well, I don't know about whether or not the issue of the DRC itself will be fixed. I believe that the plans are to add support of PCoIP to the Mac now customer who will actually remove the need for this GPO.

I can't say with certainty that these details have not yet been confirmed. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

  • Update the BIOS Qosmio X 500 - 11U - Question about new

    Hi everyone

I need to clear something up, the update of the BIOS that was published on December, 2010 was the 2.90 now a new March 2011 version is called 1.40! Is this an upgrade a downgrade or a joke? Should I proceed with the latest 1.40 or stick with the old 2.90?

    I forgot to mention that I own a X 500 - 11U and thanks in advance

    Hi nick73,

On the European driver of Toshiba download page, there are two versions available:

    Update BIOS 1.40 - VICTORY for X 500 PQX34E models
    Update BIOS 2, 90-VICTORY for X 500 PQX33E models

Your model X 500 - 11U belongs to the PQX33E series and this means only the update of BIOS 2.90 is compatible and 1.40 would be the wrong version.

So it of not a joke and before you search for BIOS update next time, also use the right number of reference ;)
