  I apply the #8947667 patch to fix a problem.
  I have a few questions about reading me this patch:
  
  1. it says to use admsi.pl if im not using adpatch to install this patch?
  2. in the post-installation, it says check MoS #145837.1 and apply pre - req.
  In the table below, I do not see r12.1.1, so I guess I have not all the patches to be applied?
  
  Clarification, I do the follow-up in that order?

  Run 'admsi.pl' to generate your specific instance installation instruction. You should always use adpatch to apply this hotfix.

• R12.1.3 - General question about patching of intermediate level

  R12.1.3 running on RH Linux 5.8.  Just applied PSU to the 11.2.0.3 database and now by looking at the Jan 2014 CPU refers to

  Oracle Fusion Middleware 10.1.3.5 and patch 16802091 .

  Now, in my last attempt to clogging, I made the correction to the database but I only did the correction of Middleware.

  If I look at it is seems to be a process quite simple patch but I'm not sure what about my setup $ORACLE_HOME.

  The Guide says to make sure that the $ORACLE_HOME of environment variable is defined but that normally gets together at TOOLS 10.1.2.

  Do I need to put it to 10.1.3?

  If I do that then opatch is set incorrectly.

  Also can I assume by default my 10.1.3 Oracle_Home is 10.1.3.5 or how to check that?

  If the patch is for 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME, then you must set sourcing $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/.env file.

  Once you source this file env, question "echo $ORACLE_HOME" and he must return the ORACLE_HOME 10.1.3.

  For opatch, if you issue "what opatch" then it should point to $10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch

• Questions about patching a single host

  I'm our first update of one of our 5.5 guests since it was originally installed (long term).  I searched and was not satisfied with the responses, but just to double check: there will be compatibility issues with all our guests on VMware ESX host Agent 5.5.0 build-1331820 and it is updated with ESXi550-201410001?  (VMware KB: VMware ESXi 5.5, Patch version ESXi550-201410001).  I ask this for reasons such as HA, vMotion, etc..  (I realize that VMs can run on hosts as long as the hardware compatibility is supported, but my question is specific to the pieces of automation, or any other traps).

  In addition, the fix can be installed and then restarted later, or is a reboot required during installation?

  No problems with HA or vMotion for hardware versions are the same. I usually leave a host or two in production for a day or two for the patch test before spending the rest of the guests. You will need to restart after the patch.

  VUM(Update Manager) every time. It automates the entire process and if you have one, use it.

  2. we have an instance of oracle 11 g running for a test OLTP environment. Datawarehousing guys wanted an instance 11g in this machine. So I used DBCA to create another data base of the ORACLE_HOME of the OLTP database. Inti.ora for DSS and OLTP settings are different, that's why I had to create a separate instance. Then, when I use the opatch to apply a patch, the changes will be reflected on OLTP databases both our SSD. Right?

  1. Yes, you should stop running on this House instances. The Readme.txt should confirm this, and when you run opatch it will ask you if you stop.

  2 opatch patches only the ORACLE_HOME, which is used by the two databases. See the patch Readme.txt if there is no action database (which must be run on two databases)

  3. the little bugs are corrected by small Tufts. To avoid having to apply many small plots Oracle groups in large plots that include several small plots. Often, you can use the parameter "napply" to opatch when you apply these hotfixes.

  Always read the documentation for patch before applying it to be sure you understand what it does.
  Always run the patch on a test environment before running it on PROD.

  I don't know where you have wget.exe but we will assume that you have it on c:\software\wget.exe, in your PATH variable, you must add c:\software

• Question about installing standalone Agent in patched environment

  I have a question about the installation of an autonomous Agent of ODI, some information on the situation: I have Studio ODI 11.1.1.7.0 installed and configured. Everything worked fine until we have improved our environment from planning to 11.1.2.3.500 patch.  We had to apply the patch 18687916 for ODI solve some problems, but everything worked well again after that.  Now I need to install an autonomous agent to run scenarios in a batch, the agent will be on the same server as the ODI studio.  My question is can I run the installer and only select the autonomous agent then reapply the patch 18687916 or do I need to get out the patch 18687916 first, or something totally different?

  I think you should restore the 18687916 patch and then install the standalone agent, then patch 18687916 it.

• Questions about reinstalling Windows XP after the end of Support

  Several members of the family of my friends that I sometimes provide technical assistance for are still under XP SP3 on their systems.  These systems are too outdated and underpowered to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, and it will probably be some time until they are able to upgrade to a more recent hardware capable of running most modern versions of Windows.

  If in the meantime, something happens to one of their computers requiring a reinstall of Windows after support for XP purposes, but before they can get a newer computer, I have a few questions about what will happen:

  1. Is there still a way to activate their existing copies of XP during installation process?
  2. While I understand that new patches, updates, patches & will be is no longer provided, existing patches will be available through the Microsoft Update service so that I would be able to get those computers to update state that they would be about to XP supported ends, or do I have to search elsewhere to try & find these updates?  (It would be nice if Microsoft put up a cumulative update that would be sort of a mega-patch for people in this situation to be able to get back to the most current state systems, but I would not be surprised if there wasn't such a thing).

  Anyone know the answers to these questions?

  You should be able to clean install and activate Windows XP.  You should be able to upgrade as well, even if the wise move would be to get the updates stored on portable media or integrated into a multimedia installation (or both) as soon as POSSIBLE if the plan is to continue using Windows XP for a while.

  My suggestion is to set up and to buy Windows 7 Professional renovated systems / lease from places like TigerDirect.com - as pricing is generally about the same as just a license for Windows 7 or a little professional, the hardware specifications of these machines are likely machines Windows XP current in use, using something like the PC Mover take care of Laplink and Microsoft to move files (or for the more than 25 USD the) applications that can be moved as well) to the new system of the former is possible, and Windows 7 will get updated until 2020.

  Recently research I've seen systems to Windows 7 Professional for as little as 150 USD with 4 GB of memory and dual core processors.  Not bad.

• General question about the updates and version number

  I have a general question about versions and update.  I'm new on this and am in the deep end of learning I want.

  In vSphere web client, I see the following versions (these are exactly as the seller, he left a few months that I have screenshots in my documentation that match)

  Version - VMware ESXi, 5.1.0 1612806

  Profile - Dell (updated) ESXi - 5.1 - 799733 (A00)

  I am trying to familiarize themselves with the Update Manager and I noticed that there are a lot of patches and updates available.

  Lists of Update Manager 5 patches as "Missing" with Red x but directly above them are a list of patches with green tick indicating that "installed" - it is perhaps obvious, but im guessing 'installed' means really installed when displayed on the screen - there is an update installed, labeled "ESXI 5.1 all the update 2-' would be able to tell that it has been installed by the details of profile/version above?

  I don't think it's a big deal at this stage, but if I install all missing patches and then the details of the version/profile change in summary screen?

  I just ordered a HP 50 g graphic calculator! I have a few questions about this so hang on tight! What is the USB connector on the calculator? Mini-USB, micro USB, or is it a connector owner, "custom". Then, it would be possible to connect a keyboard to the HP 50 g by using the USB Port? Is there a program that would make this possible? (I doubt it would work if you plug it..) I have a Mini-USB to female USB 2.0 connector. So I could just plug the keyboard right, provided that the port on the calculator is a Mini-USB Port. If this is not so that I could use my female to female USB adaptor to connect the keyboard.

  For new models of laptops the RAM upgrade described in s operating manuals. It is public act and it shows the owner of the notebook how do RAM upgrade only.

  If Toshiba offers something like this he won't have the negative influence of valid warranty.
  Buy a compatible module and RAM upgrade.
