  • Question about the Installation of Windows XP on Portege 3500 home

I have a second hand Portege 3500 with WXP tablet 2005 Server Pack 2 market version, but without the original disks. However, recently had a virus that did something to Prime the area on the hard disk. I have removed the virus but now get unexpected core dumps memory and system restarts when you try to connect to the internet.

Question: can I go down a level and safely install ordinary WXP software to work around the problem or the acquisition of new version of WXP Tablet and reinstall the software to circumvent the problem of core dump?

Installation of an operating system on this laptop, it's the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. Once start you, you will notice that there is no device boot attached to this pc. To install windows, yourself, the only options are to buy the cdrom drive for this laptop toshiba external or install via a network.

The toshiba cdrom drive is now quite obsolete, more expensive and the external device only that the laptop starts from (I tried with the other external cdroms, DVDs, disks usb keys and hard). It seems extremely difficult to boot from lan unless you already manage it infrastructure of the company. It is possible in theory, but after 3 weeks I still hadn't thought about her.

My solution at the end of the day was to send it to my local toshiba support center and ask them to re - install for me (he happened to have one in stock toshiba cdrom burners). I got the installation cd, so I guess you will need get these images from toshiba as well (or buy another os).

    Good luck!

  • Question about the installation of Windows repair

    Hello

I have searched through the forum, but I'm still a bit confused about the use of the recovery expert mode on my Toshiba Recovery CD.
I can't boot into Windows at all. I didn't save my data (stupid!).
I currently have a single partition.

It is possible to create a second partition use the recovery expert mode and re - load Windows to that. Would this format only partition, allowing me to recover files after the first partition?
Or is this format the entire disk, Windows loading and then create partitions?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Fitz.

    Hello Fitz

Expert mode allows you to do two things:
1 install OS already persistent partition (if the HARD disk already has two of them)
    2. create own partition (in this case all of the content is deleted)

Please try to start in safe mode (press F60). If this doesn't help, you can track to save your data:
    1. connect the HARD drive to the other PC as external device (using the box USB HDD)
the disk HARD should be recognized automatically and you can copy your data to another disk HARD of PC
    2. you can try to use Partition Magic tool. Start by using the external floppy drive and create two partitions. After doing this start your laptop with discus throw and try to copy all the data on the second partition.

Detailed explanation of the installation in expert mode and how to create a clean partition you will find under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=4462&messageID=14518

  • Question about the installation of Windows 7

Regarding Windows 7 Home Premium... Say that I buy the commercial version that comes with "the" 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I can install the 32-bit version on my current 32-bit PC and then 'later' to install the 64-bit on a 64-bit newly purchased PC version? I know I have to disable the 32-bit version out of the old PC.

As long as you remove or disable the 32-bit version, yes you can install 64-bit on your new PC.  Note: A "Full" version does not require that an earlier version of Windows (XP, Vista or Windows 7). If your PC has Windows installed 8 look in "Downgrade rights" before making your purchase.

Anyway, given that the key was already used once only once, you'll need to enable 64-bit by phone.

  • Questions about the installation of ColdFusion 9.0.2 version of existing in version 9.0.1

    Hello

I'm currently running ColdFusion 9.0.1 enterprise edition and plan to upgrade to version 9.0.2 version. I understand that this requires uninstalling existing 9.0.1 and perform a new installation of version 9.0.2 version. My concerns are below:

    1. for the installation of the 9.0.2 version the 9.0.2 installer (demo / trial version) must be downloaded and the existing serial number (used in version 9.0.1) can be given during installation to convert it in fully registered mode - please correct me if my interpretation is incorrect here. My question is will the existing serial key (as shown in the page Admin of CF 9.0.1 version version) work with the 9.0.2 version as well?

    2. There are many features that are present in the current 9.0.1 version - for example the sources of data configured in the Admin see Y page there a way I can save these configurations of the existing version and to migrate settings to the new 9.0.2 install, or what I have to do the entire configuration manually after the installation of new? Data sources is something I can think; What other configurations can I save, if such a provision is available?

    3. in the installation of the 9.0.2 version there is a question about "configure the Web server for CF Connector" allows me to add Web/sites Internet servers during installation. If I select "built-in Web server" as the option (so do not configure any Web-site Web server), can I change this and configure Server/site later, after compeleting installation?

What would be the things I need to be careful during this installation to version 9.0.2 from 9.0.1?

    Thank you!

    Arun-

I did a successful version 9.0.2; installation answering my own questions, for the benefit of future development-

    1. Yes. Only the serial number is required (as shown in the Page of the CF Admin of existing facility)

2 configurations (for example: data sources) can be exported. Go to CF Admin Page, click on packaging & deployment, click on Archives of CF. Basically, you export settings as files with the extension archive. car. Once exported from the current installation, it can be imported by clicking on the button deploying car file.

3 server configuration can be modified (Add/Remove) by using the "Web Server Configuration Tool" which is installed by default with CF 9. You can find it under program files (windows OS).

I had some problems during the installation. After installation, the CF Admin page would not be made. Virtually no cfm page don't take charge, because the extension is not known by the IIS (or the server you are using). To set this up, use the "Web Server Config Tool" mentioned above. This launch and activate the check box that is on the rendering cfm pages (forgot the exact name). Once this is done, cfm pages must load. I had to enable this and then do a reinstall but.

  • Question about the installation of Win XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hello

I have a lot of problems with Vista. First it took me a week to install my printer WiFi. (sollution: install local lpt1 as the printer, change port properties en gives a location network (computer/printername).)
Last problem: vista give no right to copy my USB hd protable with xp files.

Finally, I lost all hope and want to go back to xp.

Is there anyone with experience in the installation of win xp on this laptop. And is it possible to tell me the steps that you have been taken to do so.
Are there concerns as none have some drivers, things that do not work or problems with sata hd.

    Thank you

    Luke

    Hello

It's a difficult topic-> XP on Vista machines.

First: Yes, you can install XP on it because all the important factors are available (VGA, SATA, wireless, XP BIOS, BLUETOOTH) and that should be enough.

Because your computer has a BIOS for Vista (I guess there a) Please install the BIOS XP first and then start the installation of XP. In the case that your HARD drive is not recognized then you need to install the SATA driver during the installation of windows XP. The procedure is described in the statement of the Satellite L40-> XP installation, so if you want to install and problems SATA (HDD, not during the XP installation), you must check the installation instructions for Windows XP for a SATELLITE L40!

If you have additional questions, I recommend allows you to place your question here before doing something that may stop your nerves later. :)

    Welcome them

  • Question about the installation of the OS

I have some problems with the shortcut keys and I want to reformat my system.
Problem is that I have not created recovery cd before, is this going to work if I do it now.

    Thank you

    Hello

Please don t worry about the recovery procedure. It's very simple to do. Put the recovery CD in the CD/DVD drive, start Notepad and press C button and hold it for a few seconds. This will force your unit to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Follow the instructions on the screen. Standard mode will erase the whole HARD drive and create a partition. If you have only one partition I recommend to set up two of them. One will be used for the OS and application installations. The other can be used for the backup of data.

If you need more instructions, please write again.

  • Question about the installation of Vista on Tecra A8

    Hi all

I bought today TOSHIBA Tecra A8.
My question is when in the future, I'll have to reinstall vista how can I do?
Installation is automatic when I start my PC.
Is there a folder or an option to save the installation procedure on a cd or a dvd?

You can do this very easily. Branded WXP running the BIOS update first. After doing this use the Vista CD/DVD facilities and install Vista operating system. The last step is to install all the stuff from Toshiba (drivers, tools and utilities). All these things you can find on the download page of Toshiba.

The recovery CD is lost and I installed the laptop with a normal CD of Windows XP (sp2).

During the Installation of the monitor is black.

The Installation is without possible recovery CD?

I created an Nlite CD with XP, but the SATA controller not found or the breaking of the Installation.

    Help me, please.

    Vtobi

    Hello

essentially it s possible to install an of a real CD of XP/Vista OS, I think that this is the reason why Toshiba provides drivers on their driver download site.

How do you mean that the screen remains black? More precisely, the description would be better...
Another question: what SATA controller did you slipstreamed on the XP CD? I hope that you´re to the topic the A100 has an older controller (should be an ICH7M).

  • Question about the installation of the software on Satellite P200

I recently (09/09/2007) purchased a Satellite P200 - 14 H a dealer of Romania, and Windows Vista crashed. I was forced to reinstall operating system without losing all the information on the HARD disk drive (partitions 2 - c:, d: windows installation some information that I can't lose.). With the DVD, you provided that I have to remove the whole HARD drive that isn't an option, so I searched the Internet and downloaded an image of windows vista installation, so I can install windows without delete the d: partition.

I started to search for the drivers and I found them, but when I tried to install some of them the following error occurs: "invalid serial number" when I try to install the following applications: Flash Media Driver, hardware configuration and package of added value.

What can I do to be able to use the function keys, for example? I phoned computers shop, the regional representative of the Toshiba in Romania and I received the reply that their only job is related to hardware not software.

I followed everything the ' how the Installation Instructions but it does not work. I can't use my computer function keys and there is no way to lose the information on the entire HARD disk driver, but only on the C partition.

Thank you very much and I hope that you will give me a solution soon.

    Hello Adrian

Unfortunately, you're right about the procedure of recovery. But if I understand you right you can start and use Vista now. If so why not save all your data to an external device or data DVD creation? When all your data is saved, you can install OS using sent to new media for recovery, and then copy the data on the D partition.

I can understand the response of the people with which you speak. If there is no material damage and you have the recovery DVDs, they are unable to do much for you. The laptop is not defective. Vista crashed is your responsibility. You have the recovery DVDs and you can install OS 1000 times if you wish. Sorry, but the arguments are not on your side.

We can discuss why you cannot install OS on the existing partition, but it won't help you. If you can start Vista backup all your data and do a clean install of the operating system.

  • Question about the installation of the driver on Satellite L20-153 PSL2XE

Hi, a friend gave me his system Satellite L20 to install XP Pro SP2 (System was originally shipped with XP Home). After installation of XP Pro SP2, I tried to install the driver from the chipset of the page of the driver from the site, but I kept receiving a message saying the driver chipset could not be installed because my Windows installation was not complete. After visiting the page of the driver again and looking at the installation order for the L20 I was shocked to see so many microsoft updates and patches which supposedly must be installed before I install the drivers on the system.
What I want to know is... what the precise order of installation? I'm having trouble getting all the specified updates and patches needed for the operating system...

Any advice or ideas would be graetly appreciated.

    Thank you

You are right. Satellite L20 comes with Windows XP Home edition at home but with the SP2 version. There is no difference and all the drivers can be installed with Windows XP Sp2 Pro family edition. I really don't understand what you're doing wrong.

After installing WXP Pro boot up your laptop and install all the stuff of Toshiba following the install Instructions document and the exact order of facilities described here. You should not install all patches from Microsoft. When you are finished with the drivers, tools and utilities to just install activate Microsoft update and install available updates automatically.
Be careful on SP3. Many people here report on the difficult problems after installing SP3.

    Hello

I have a silly question on installation of Singal Express Version 2.5.0. Previous student installed on the computer in my Department, but I can't find the installation CD of Signal Express 2.5.0. Please post on the Forums of NOR. Unfortunately, we are unable to upgrade to version 2.5.0 of the 1.1.1 cd. However, if you have your serial number, you can download the evaluation version of 2.5.0 section and activate it with your serial number and the computer. • NI-VISA DURATION 5.4.1 questions about the installer.

    All,

I have a question that I hope you can help me with. I have a user that I am trying to run an installer for Labview 2012 with Runtime OR 5.4.1. When I run the installer with the driver NI-VISA of Runtime 5.4.1 checked, I get an error that says this:

"Unsupported version of NI-detected VISA" a version of NI-VISA, which is not supported on this operating system were found. You must cancel this installation and uninstall the old version before continuing. Visit ni.com/frinfo and enter the Info Code CleanVista for more information.

I went, but I don't see a problem with the problem I have. All other computers that have installed with VISA Installer installed very well without any problems. When I do not select the VISA duration, the installer works correctly. I need this part of Setup so that I can communicate with the COM port on a laptop that is Windows 7 32-bit system. My PC is also Win7 32 bit.

I thought that to download the VISA_540runtime.exe as a storage facility, but it indicates that it is an unsupported Win32 application?

I created a log file, but I don't know what I'm looking for. Can you help or shrink the cause?

Solved my problem. I didn't know that Labview had already been installed, and a previous version of VISA was also installed. I removed it and the version of Labview and re-directed the installer without a hiccup.
