Question about updating drivers for Tecra A9

Hello

I noticed that support Toshiba updates drivers for Tecra A9 very slowly even if they introduce important features. For example, the display driver for 965 graphics worm 15 is much better than 14 worm distributed by Toshiba. I know that pilots are tuned and Toshiba has many models to take care, but several months of waiting seems to be too long. I do not expect that all minor versions are updated, but the most important should be!

Kind regards
Marek

Having the latest drivers would be nice, but its different for laptops. Motorists need to be customized for the features of the laptop, and they probably need to go through quality control, testing too although I guess.

However there may be a solution, you can try to install the drivers later on newer models such as the Tecra A10 and M10 :)

Hi, I want to update BIOS for my Satellite 2450-101 (model: PS245E-01TMY-IT). I downloaded the BIOS "bios - 20071008123347.zip" on Toshiba Europe site (see link below). Is this the right one for my PC?
What do you propose to make a backup of the existing before installing the new?

I want to make an extension of memory, but I'm not sure whether this is necessary. Do you reccoment to update the bios anyway?

    Thank you very much!

    BIOS

    Hello!

Yes, it's the good BIOS because it s also for your model (Satellite 2450-101).

A BIOS update is an upgrade of RAM is not necessary. The BIOS has nothing to do with the maximum RAM capacity.
Satellite 2450-101 supports up to 1 GB, type PC2100 DDR - RAM.

Why don't update you video drivers on a regular basis?
Some software and games require the latest video drivers from the manufacturer. But my Radeon HD3650 is not be accepted as compatible with the standard drivers from AMD/ATI's official website. When should I think about support?

If you want to get an answer from Toshiba guys then you must communicate directly with these guys. This is a user to user forum

Should what kind of RAM I buy?
    Where can I buy it?

And I can put this RAM on my laptop by myself or it is not so easy to do this?

    Hallo

You can upgrade your Tecra up to 4 GB of RAM. Compatible modules are:

    PA3499U - 1 M 25 (Kit of memory 256 Mo DDR2-667)
    PA3511U - 1 M 51 (Kit of memory 512 MB DDR2-667)

  • Question about upgrade disk for Tecra M1

    Hello

I have a failed 60 GB hard drive in my notebook Tecra M1 aged three years and decided to upgrade to a new drive before the existing one doesn't die. I would like to take this opportunity to install a slightly larger HDD (for example 80 to 120 GB) but I'm unclear as to the maximum permitted by the BIOS (1.5 v) has anyone successfully mounted a drive of more than 60 GB in a Tecra M1 or found definitive information on the limitations of the BIOS?

    Thank you very much

    Jezzer

    Hello

I found information that the Tecra M1 supports 30 GB, 40 GB, 50 GB and 60 GB HDD.
Perhaps you might be able to use a 80 GB HARD drive, but I think that the 100 GB HARD drive is definitely too large size of HARD drive.

What about a HARD drive test? You could take the laptop to a merchant of HARD drive and you could test several sizes.
I think that it is no bad idea. What do you think??

  • Question about updating BIOS for my Satellite M40

So, my laptop does not start, but works recovery procedure. Support suggested me to update my Bios.
OK, given that the last time, it was easy.

    I downloaded the newsest version vor my Satellite M40 (PSM40) (1, 70 - WIN<= i="" have="" an="" ati="" grafics="" card)="" and="" extracted="" the="" bios-20070709161345.zip="">
    But there was a surprise:
Instead of getting the old data structure, as written in the FAQ update Bios
1 extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    2. in the folder temporary three subfolders will be generated. "docs", 'Update - 3.5' disc', 'Update - CD - R or CD - RW"

I get a file only: BIOS of Windows Knockhill10GV170.exe
Extraction of it I get 8 files:
    -fdbase.img
    -InsydeFlash.exe
    -iscflash.dll
    -iscflash.vxd
    -KPM170. ROM
    -Platform.ini
    -The c:\windows\system32\unicows.dll

Now my question: How can I create this bootable CD-ROM to update my Bios?

Just to know: download all the other things are done on my desktop from my laptop is not starting ;)
I also tried to run the exe in the hope that it will create a floppy disk or a CD-ROM, but it is written "basic cfg address not found."

    Hello

Update the BIOS there are two ways to do this:
-Traditional mode (TRAD) and in this case, you need floppy
-Windows (WIN) and this update can be done under operating system running.

Update BIOS WIN will work if you run Windows on your laptop satellite. If I understand your assignment well you are trying to do traditional BIOS updated, but using the BIOS to WIN update. On the Toshiba download page, there are two listed BIOS updates and two of them as versions of WIN. This means that you can update the BIOS under operating system only.

Back to your problem: in the history one thing confuses me when you write: my laptop does not start, but works recovery procedure. Sorry, but if the recovery procedure is working and you will have clean installed OS.

Be a little more concrete in our laptop does not start. What happen exactly when you press the power button / stop?

  • Question about updating BIOS for Satellite M70-337

I just bought an M70-337 and the Toshiba site I noticed that there is an update of the BIOS - my current v1.3 to v1.4. Several things occurred to me - mainly centering around me after spending 3 days Exchange my sytems to a new computer: -.

I've never updated a BIOS before.
I've heard that it can be potentially disastrous
So it is worth risking 3 days for an update that is perhaps not necessary?
I downloaded the bios file - 130win.zip - is it just a matter of installing the program in the same way, install other Windows programs?
    Or I'd be suspicious?

Anyone know? or have experience of updating a BIOS through Windows?

    Hi Alan,

As your say quite rightly, BIOS updates can be disastrous if something should go wrong with the process.

I wouldn't recommend that you try to update the BIOS unless it is absolutely necessary in order to correct some of the problems you are having with your laptop. The usual reason for an update of the BIOS under production to fix a bug identified in the previous version, is to provide new functionality/pick-up load of new devices or operating system settings. If you have no problems with you laptop, then I would leave well alone and run with the BIOS that is already installed.

The M70 is a very nice unit and I don't know of existing bugs or updates that are essential for this. Take advantage because it's :-)

    Kind regards

  • Updating drivers for CD & DVD corupts

After today's windows XP update of my CD - RW and DVD disappeared from the 'My Computer' list.  When I go into the device manager that I have failed to load the corrupted or missing device drivers.  I get an error code 39?  Looking for a resolution, thanks JB

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Also check with your system manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers for your DVD. Or even if it
are you can reinstall the 'old'. Many use Windows default drivers however some special aura
ones. Also check the website of the manufacturer of the car.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    Hello

The Windows 2 k, Win Xp and Win Vista 32 bit drivers are released on the European driver Toshiba page.
You said that you need drivers? You didn t tell what OS you are using.

However, for the Modem internal High Definition Audio Bus, you need to install the modem driver.
Other devices are not known to me, but I think that you must make sure that you have used all the drivers for the Toshiba page.
Check also if good Chipset driver has been installed too.

  • Question about drivers for Tecra 9100

My Tecra T9100 do not work with LAN more after the installation of a new HD (old one crashed) and where some Toshiba files on the old HD that I don't know. (Bought the laptop 2. a few years ago by hand) and I lost the CD that belongs to her, and there is no drivers on this site for this 5 year old machine. Maybe a little strange because it's a P4.

In the list of hardware (control panel/system /) there is no problem with the network card. But at the top of the list, there is a yellow "?" for the UNIT of BASIC SYSTEM and there is the missing drivers.

It's very confusing to me because I've never heard of these drivers and I don't know which device is the following. There is also a yellow "?" for PCI modem (but I didn't need) so I guess this unit of base system has to do with the PCI-bus and perhaps also affects the LAN card?

But shouldn't? the drivers will be in the BIOS?
    Can someone help me?

    Hello

You should take a good look here:

    http://209.167.114.38/support/download/ln_byModel.asp

because here, you will find all the drivers for your computer. The Canadian site has almost all of the drivers for older machines, and you should really check out.
I think that "basic unit of system" could be something with ACPI or similar. But lets wait until after you have installed all THE drivers and then give feedback short.
And no, the drivers are generally not in the bios because the bios is just to boot but it s OS independent.

    Greetings

  • How do I go about obtaining drivers for Windows 7 if I update to Windows XP?

If I update to windows 7 I have to shell out $ 60 as I did when I reinstalled Windows XP for drivers, so I can connect to the internet? If so is there a better way to go about installing the drivers? Keep it simple with me please, I don't know I have no I know as much about computers, because I think I do.

original title: Xp to Question 7.

Short answer... No, you will be always be sure to get the right drivers for Windows 7.

    Long answer...

As you may know that a 'pilot' is a computer program that allows computer programs to interact with a hardware device.

Device drivers are hardware-related and operating system specific.  What this means for you, is that you must have a driver for each hardware device on your computer AND each of these device drivers must be written for the operating system that you choose to use on your computer.

Microsoft has been trying to collect and integrate device drivers in its Windows operating systems, but it does not - and really can't - incorporate a device driver for each possible piece of computers that someone could incorporate into a personal computer.  In addition, although some device drivers included with a particular version of Windows might be able to do a given device of the work, the built-in drivers could not do all the features of the available hardware device.

For the reasons stated in the previous paragraph, when Windows is installed on a new computer (or re-installed following a disc format - the so-called 'clean install'), there are probably enough drivers added to the computer to the top and do work, but not all the features of the hardware will not work correctly and some peripheral hardware may not work at all.  Thus, whenever a Windows operating system is installed (if it is Windows XP or Windows 7), it is important to have in hand all necessary device drivers so that the computer can be used as intended.

When you perform an installation of Windows, in general we might want to have on hand for the drivers for the motherboard (also called the chipset driver), video card, sound card and maybe cards NIC (including wifi network cards), as well as, of course, for devices such as printers, scanners, external modems, etc.

If the computer is done by a 'direct' so-called OEM (brand computers are you'll probably recognize as Sony, Lenovo, Dell, HP, etc.), the computer manufacturer may have agreements with various manufacturers of components to provide custom device drivers.  This is particularly true for laptops.  For this reason, it is important to get the drivers for these computers to the web site of the manufacturer of the computer.  Fortunately, the manufacturer usually has a way to determine the specific hardware configuration to a specific computer (for example, Dell one uses ID he calls "Service Tag") and will be collected all the drivers for your computer in an easy to deal with the package.

If you have a custom computer, you will need to determine the manufacturer and the model number of the motherboard, video card, sound card, and the NICs (especially wifi network cards), included in the computer and get Windows 7 drivers from the manufacturers of different components.

See this article, especially the section "Download drivers"--> http://tweakhound.com/xp/installxp/installXP1.htm
