Question about upgrading to Vista 64 - bit - Satellite A300-1EG

Hello

I wanted to ask you, how can I run Vista 64-bit without losing all the software that I got carried away with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-1EG?
I would be remiss and so on the Toshiba disk creator?
Is there a way to extract somehow the recovery DVD?

Thank you

Please do not mix two different things. 64-bit and 32-bit versions are not the same and if your mobile phone is supported for the version of Vista 64-bit, you can find all the drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Have you already checked this?

BTW: recovery image cannot be used for spare parts. It can only be used in the package.

  • Satellite A350 - Question about RAM and Vista 32 bit - 64 bit

I bought a Satellite A350 Tiger Direct. He moved with Windows Vista 32 bit.
It is capable in my view up to 8 GB of Ram. Vista 32 bit does support 3.

All reviews on this laptop online say that it came with 64-bit and 400 GB of memory.
Mine came with only 230 GB of memory and 32 bit vista. I ran Belarc advisor, and he tells me that my computer is 64-bit ready.

Is this true? Why is - this me came not with Vista 64 bit?
I want to upgrade my ram but with 32 bits, which is not possible and according to Microsoft you cannot update 32-bit to 64-bit.
So should I buy Vista 64-bit upgrade? (for around 300 euros!). Is this in any way about this?

What are my options? I want 4 GB of Ram or more really bad...

What Satellite A350 do you have exactly?

    AFAIK the most recent series of Toshiba laptop pre-installed a dual operating system;
In this case, you can choose between Vista 32-bit or 64-bit.

To obtain the 64-bit, you will need to restart the laptop and have to press F8.
Here you must choose the option to fix my computer. Then select Toshiba HDD recovery and finally, you should see the option which would be you can toggle between the 32 and 64 bit.

Usually the Vista 32 bit supports 3.2 GB RAM.
Only the 64-bit Vista will be able to recognize 4 GB and more.

  • Question about upgrading to Vista on Satellite P15

    Hello

I think the move to Vista, but some things are confusing me. I have a Satellite P15 with an OEM XP Home installed package. Am I good to buy another DVD of Vista OEM use to level or that will cause some kind of conflict with the etc. hidden restore partition.

I understand it to be if I chose to upgrade and want to completely install Vista from new I have to reformat my hard drive? It's a tough call. Is it possible to simply upgrade to Vista, but keep everything I already installed at all? I have tons of useful stuff and tons of waste which I'm also not lose and don't spend hours, it backs up all fancy, all as I don't want to have dual-boot to be honest. It's Vista or XP, not both for me.

    Any ideas?

I guess my biggest concern is another package to OEM OEM compatibility and whether the P15 him will at all.

    See you soon!

    Hello

As prior use has already proposed, you must create a second partition on your HARD drive and install Vista as OS second on the created part.
This should be a better way to use this operating system with Windows XP.

I installed the Vista in the same way. First of all, I created the partition Magic 8 partition and then installed the Vista operating system.
and I must say; He works ;)

  • Tecra M11 - 17z - Question about upgrade to Win7 32 bit to 64 bit

    I have a Tecra M11 - 17z with the pre-installed OS 32 - bit Windows 7 Professional.
I want to change the 64-bit operating system.

For this I have to do a 'clean' custom install the 64-bit system.
As this is a new laptop and the software bundle that came with the laptop can be downloaded I don't mind to do this.

Do I have to buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
Where is the best place to go for the software needed?

    Ideas and help very appreciated.

    > Should I buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
I guess the image pre-installed on this laptop contains just 32boit version of Win 7.
So yes, you need to buy a Win 7 64 bit Microsoft Disk in order to install the 64-bit version.

    > Where is the best place to go for the software needed?
You can purchase Win 7 64 bit across most of the stores online like Amazon is a hotel and I think it would be the easiest and fastest way to get to this

  • the upgrade to vista 64-bit for windows 7 64 bit.

I recently bought a pack of conversion from microsoft for windows 7 64 bit.

It downloaded as files from the BOX and im extremely frustrated, I can't do anything with these files. I assumed it would be a simple download and upgrade to vista 64-bit for windows 7 64 bit and have tried everything available to me.

    Please help someone

You can download the .iso file correct 64-bit instead:

The format of the box is the old version.
  • On Windows 7 upgrade from vista 64 bit stops after that it says the settings and files of collection

I am tring to install Windows 7 upgrade from vista 64-bit.  I'm to the point where it says collect files and settings, and it stops running, and then in the details it shows 3 files located in the c: users\my name\appdata\local\temp\WER followed by numbers.tmp, then version, appcompat or mdmp. (example: wer5090.tmp.version.txt)  He said that these files are the reason. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

1 disable any security software before attempting to upgrade

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.

    4. check your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

Also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-7/Upgrade-Advisor.aspx

If the upgrade continues to fail, you might want to consider doing a custom installation:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Satellite A300-1EG - after upgrade to Vista Premium lacks some options

Floor of the year of return, that I bought the computer laptop Toshiba SATELLITE A300-1EG (short model No. PSAG4E). Due to some problems, it was necessary to reinstall Windows.

Bought the laptop introduced Windows Vista Home. Now I have created Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. A problem with some drivers, I can't adjust brightness and sharpness of the screen, and the screen guests do not work. Writing "or screen prompt updated video card is required, or the video card compatible with Direct3D" is necessary.

    Help please!

    Hello

I think that you didn t install the driver on the right graphics card
It seems that your laptop supports the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics chip and I think that you should simply reinstall the graphics driver on the European driver Toshiba page

    What do you think?

  • Satellite A300-1EG - why do I need 2 recovery discs?

    Hello
    I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1EG.

I created 2 discs recovey such as required in the "Toshiba disc Creator Recovey". I created the premiera (disc 1) 2 weeks ago and the second (disk 2) today because I didn't have 2 DVD in hand.

My first question is t - it is important if I left a period of time between the two creations that will affect the recovery if I ever need to use them?

My second question is to make two just recovery disks recover the operating system for example: Windows Vista or they recover what was recorded on the Local C drive, at the time they were created?

My last question is if that happens my dies of an operating system, I make just to turn on the laptop and put it in recovey disc 1, then 2, (if this isn't how someone can you please tell me how to?)

    Concerning

    Hello

When you use Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator you can see there the option for the use of different blank media. On some laptops, that image can be burned to a blank DVD and on some models, you need two of them. It depends on the recovery image.

For my Satellite A300, I used both DVD-R virgins. I created images of recovery for several laptops, and we don't have me break creation of recovery and continue later. When the first media is finished you need to place the second piece of blank media and burning process will continue automatically. As far as I know that there is NO option for creating discs 2 only. Please be careful about this.

I recommend you to get two empty DVD - R blank and create DVDs from recovery at the same time.

When you use recovery DVD is removed from the entire HARD disk, not only partition C. This means that all the data saved on the HARD disk will be deleted. If your laptop has two HARD drives the recovery procedure will affect only HDD1. Be careful about this, and before you begin the recovery procedure back up all your important data.

Follow a definitive answer to the final question ;) when you want to install the OS by using recovery media:
Power your laptop running and press F12 to display the boot options
Put the 1 recovery media in the optical disc drive
In boot options, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER
Follow the menu on the screen

Of course, start with DVD1 and questioned insert second DVD.

  • Satellite A300-1EG - hard drive carrier

    Hello.

    I have this laptop--> http://www.toshiba.eu/discontinued-products/satellite-a300-1eg/

I would buy the new hard drive, specifically this one--> http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/937740-REG/seagate_st1000lm014_hybrid_1tb_2_5_sata.html

My question is, will it work? Laptop is old enough, I don't know if it supports this capability and/or additional 8 GB SSD.

Satellite A300 is old but very good machine. I got it a few years ago. In general there is no list some specific with all hard drives supported and compatibility information can give you just someone who has the same machine and use it with an identical hard drive.

In my opinion, you can upgrade your machine with this drive and I'm pretty sure that in combination with Windows 7 it works perfectly.

I don't know what is most important to you: spatial ability or portable s performance, but if your laptop supports the option with two hard drives, I recommend to buy SSD and use it as a hard drive main and old original HD, you can use it as a second drive (if possible) and, of course, for the storage of data only.

I have this hardware configuration on my Satellite P500.

  • Can I install Windows XP on Satellite A300-1EG

What the installation of Windows XP Home on Satellite A300-1EG?

What sort of change shoul I install before?

What the difference betweem 32-bit and 64-bit? because it is a 32-bit Vista?

    Thank you

    Hello

Of course, you can install XP on this laptop
I put t see no reason why it shouldn't t function.

Satellite A300-1EG belongs to the PSAG4E.
Choose this series in the European driver Toshiba page and you will find the correct drivers.

Please note that you must install the SATA AHCI driver first.
I think this doc Toshiba should be useful:

[How to integrate a SATA AHCI driver into a Windows XP installation CD | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm]

Also it you asked is what is the difference between the 32-bit OS and 64 bit OS.
Well, there is a big difference but I n t want to show all
An important fact is that drivers don't function on 64 bit OS 32 bit.

For more information between the 32-bit and 64-bit OS recommends asking Google ;)

    Hello

You need to first install audio patch for windows xp
    AUDIO patch 1: KB835221
    AUDIO patch 2: KB888111

These are patches from Microsoft and are essential for the sound card.

After that the patches have been installed, reinstall the audio driver

  • Satellite A300-1EG - driver Webcam open fail after Exchange of motherboard

    All greetings.

Recently took the laptop with the service center, it changed the motherboard. Before the service center the camera worked fine, but after taking early displays an error "Webcam driver open fail." Restart the computer or the camera. "Read the posts on this topic wise anywhere to update the BIOS, I renewed, but nothing helped.

This could be due to the fact that in the service Centre to have forgotten something to connect to the motherboard? Because in Device Manager do not see a web camera. I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 1EG PSAG4E number.

Thanks in advance for the answer. I would like to hasten to meet to go tomorrow to the center of service or not.

    Hi kuhar2007,

Maybe the authorized service provider forgot to plug in the power cord, but before to contact them again once you try to reinstall the driver for the webcam. You can get the latest version here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Normally the webcam should be in Device Manager after that. If this isn't the case, you must contact the ASP again. Explain the problem and they will try to help you. ;)
