Question, InDesign is the 'correct' software to use to prepare a document for the type parameter?

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm just trying to help my sister. She becomes a published book and asks the editor that she prepare her manuscript for 'type parameter '. His work has been done in all the "Microsoft Word", but I don't think that 'Word' has the ability to do that (whatever it is that she must do so). I don't really understand any of this, but I told her I thought she could be able to achieve this with Design. Could someone please tell me if I'm wrong, or that I am far from base? If I'm right, could you I please give me a tip or two to point us in a direction? I thank very you much. Buffmin

"Preparing for membership ' not the same thing as fact really the layout. The difference in the world.

Usually publishers want submit you your manuscript in Word, not software like InDesign.

Talk to the Publisher and get a clear direction.

It is very unlikely that InDesign is what you or she wants to use.

  • Question about changing the type of adapter during cloning with vmkfstools

    Hello world

    It seems to me have found stuck trying to use vmkfstools-i to clone a machine, in fact the command seems to work fine except that I would like to change the screen to type hard "ide" to "buslogic" drive adapter at the same time and this is where I am stuck. That's what I tried...

    vmkfstools-i < /path/to/oldmachine.vmdk > < /path/to/newmachine.vmdk > - a buslogic

    This command is cloning my machine but when I go to the newly created vmdk file ddb.adapter type is always set to "ide" not "buslogic". It seems that the '-a buslogic "directive is ignored, or I do not understand what it is supposed to do.

    Anyone know what I could do wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    for a disc of data-rewrite of the line ddb.adapterType = in the vmdk descriptor is sufficient.

    For a boot disk, I would also rewrite the geometry of the disk.

    I took a few notes on this subject - see http://sanbarrow.com/vmdk-basics.html#changeadapter

    How to change the type of adapter to an existing vmdk

    A vmdk can be connected to different controllers
    -IDE
    Bus-controller-
    LSI-controller-
    -SAS-controller LSI-logic
    -new paravirtualised SCSI controller

    In the description of vmdk is affected in the parameter

    ddb.adapterType =

    The description of vmdk includes only three values: "ide", "buslogic", "free".
    For all the latest as the LSI controllers - SAS use 'free '.
    If you need to change the type of adapter of a disk that is used to start a prompt, it is recommended
    for also change the geometry of the disk-.
    If the disk is used only for data alignment is not necessary.
    Remember that the type of adapter to a virtual machine is also set up in the vmx file.
    So if you rewrite an IDE-SCSI-disk do not also forget to change / check the vmx file

    ide0:0. FileName = ' ide - disk.vmdk.

    TO

    scsi0. Present = 'true '.
    scsi0.virtualDev = "free".
    scsi0:0. Present = 'true '.
    scsi0:0. FileName = "changed - disk.vmdk."

    How to calculate the geometry of the disk

    There are several reasons why you want to manually calculate the geometry of the disk:
    -change the type of an existing vmdk adapter
    -create a vmdk to a dd-file description
    -create a description of vmdk to an img file as used by Starwind
    -create a vmdk to a description *-flat.vmdk when the original description is lost

    In all cases, we must firstly the nominal size of the disk in sectors.
    Find the size of the image file in bytes.

    / 512 =

    Then decide what type of geometry: IDE or SCSI

    For disks SCSI is the typical geometry * cylinders x 255 heads x 63 sectors

    DDB. Geometry.Cylinders = *.
    DDB. Geometry.Heads = "255".
    DDB. Geometry.sectors = "63".

    To calculate the number of cylinders
    / 16065 =
    When the vmdk using adapertype buslogic or free this formula is valid for all disks greater than 1 GB capacity

    For the typical geometry IDE drives is * cylinders x 16 heads x 63 sectors

    DDB. Geometry.Cylinders = *.
    DDB. Geometry.Heads = "16".
    DDB. Geometry.sectors = "63".

    To calculate the number of cylinders
    / = 1008
    When the vmdk using adapertype ide the maximum value for is 16383.
    For all over - 8 GB - capacity discs so you can use this geometry

    DDB. Geometry.Cylinders = "16383.
    DDB. Geometry.Heads = "16".
    DDB. Geometry.sectors = "63".

  • Need a little help. Script to export the single document for different types of files.

    Hey guys, I'm new to scripting. have looked everywhere but cannot find an answer to this, I'm sure it's pretty simple

    At work we export logos all the time in a few different formats for the clients.
    I looked in the script as a way to automate the process.

    So far, I thought a little script to export my Illustrator formats document... now I need to be able to export this document even outside as a res low and high PNG, low and high res JPEG, EPS, PDF and TIFF etc.
    I have scripts to do all these separately but just need to know how to put it all in a single script I can do all at once

    Here is an example of my two different scripts to export PNG. I just need to know how string together so I can add all of the formats without breaking it.

    function savePNG() {}
    var destFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("select the folder to export the PNG files to :');")
    If {(destFolder)
    If (app.documents.length > 0) {}
    var Nomdoc = app.activeDocument.name.match(/^.*[^.ai]/i);
    var destFile = new file (destFolder + ' /' + Nomdoc + "-HR.png");
    if(destFile == null) {return ;}
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var artRect = doc.artboards [0] .artboardRect;
    var exportOptions = new ImageCaptureOptions;
    exportOptions.resolution = 300;
    exportOptions.antiAliasing = true;
    exportOptions.transparency = true;
    doc.imageCapture (destFile, artRect, exportOptions);
    }
    }
    }
    savePNG();

    and here is the version low resolution

    function savePNG() {}
    var destFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("select the folder to export the PNG files to :');")
    If {(destFolder)
    If (app.documents.length > 0) {}
    var Nomdoc = app.activeDocument.name.match(/^.*[^.ai]/i);
    var destFile = new file (destFolder + ' /' + Nomdoc + "-LR.png");
    if(destFile == null) {return ;}
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var artRect = doc.artboards [0] .artboardRect;
    var exportOptions = new ImageCaptureOptions;
    exportOptions.resolution = 72;
    exportOptions.antiAliasing = true;
    exportOptions.transparency = true;
    doc.imageCapture (destFile, artRect, exportOptions);
    }
    }
    }
    savePNG();

    Thanks for any advice you can give!
    Eli

    Oh, you want to perform two functions, one after another at the same time? then just name with different names and perform one function after another, if all files will be saved in the same folder, the argument selectDialog move method on each of your functions to don't do only once.

    function savePNG_HR(){
        var destFolder = Folder.selectDialog('Select the folder to export the PNG files to:');
        if (destFolder) {

                if(destFile == null){return;}

    The oldest is compared to newer operating systems, it is less likely to work.  If you have been happy with the help of Photoshop 7 then you should be happy with the old operating system as well.  Your options are either to return to a system that supports your software or to buy new software to go with the new system.  CS6 products are still selling as far as I know.  In addition, your only option is to subscribe to the cloud of Creative for Photoshop CC.

  • When you create a new DPS use sizes offered by InDesign or the size of the unit?

    Hi all

    When you create a new DP, use sizes offered by InDesign or the size of the unit?  I fell on this question when I was looking for the sizes of the various devices and found that the iPhone 5 s, iPhone5c and iPhone4s sizes differ the defauly dimensions offered by InDesign.

    Also, should I worry about the DPI of resolution?  With the iPhone, they all seem to be 326ppi, but when it comes to other devices it's something I should consider?  Ideally, I could create DPS apps for all devices offered in digital publishing in InDesign (iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire/Nook and Android).

    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Also, if it helps I use InDesign CC.

    1024 x 768 using and creating PDF articles you will get OK with the two resolutions of the iPad, and Bob L. said, result 'quite decent one size fits all' for all other devices.

    Hello X-x_MaGiC_x-X,

    Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

    Try the rest of the stage in this article:

    System restore points are created automatically when the following occur:

    • When you install a new application or driver.
    • When you uninstall or install some programs.
    • When you install new updates
    • Automatically on a daily interval
    • Manually by creating a.
    • If you choose to use system restore to restore to a previous restore point, System Restore creates a new restore point before you restore a previous state in case something goes wrong. If you are restoring to a previous state in Mode without failure, a restore point will create for the current state.

    So that the restoration of the system to work, you must have 300 MB of free space for each hard disk that monitors the system restore. System Restore will also use up to 15% of disk space on each disk that it monitors. That hard disk space runs out, older restore points will be deleted as newer ones. It is also important to note that you must be logged in as an administrator in order to use the system restore. Now that you understand the basics of the system restore, you must continue to the next section to learn how to use it.

    Restore Windows Vista to a previous state

    In the case of a problem on your computer that cannot be solved by normal means, you can restore your computer to a previous working state. To do this, you need to start restoring the system so that you can choose the restore point to restore. If you currently have Windows Vista boot problems, you can use the system restore in Windows recovery environment. Instructions on how to do it in this tutorial can be found: System Restore using the Windows Vista recovery environment.

    If you can connect to Windows Vista, you must follow these steps.

    1. Close and save any documents that you have opened.
    2. Click the Start button to open your Start Menu. The Start button looks like this:
    3. When the Start Menu open click on the menu option all programs.
    4. Click once on the Start Menu Accessories group.
    5. Click once on the System Tools Start Menu group.
    6. Click once on the icon of the system restore. After you click the icon, if a user account control window opens, click on the button continue.

    You will now be on the screen as shown below in Figure 1 system restore. From this screen, you can specify the restore point that you want to restore.

    1 screen of system restore

    By default, Vista will be already selected the restore recommended option. This restore point is one followed a new pilot program, or update has been installed. If you do not want to use this restore point, you can click on the button next to start the restore process. On the other hand, if there is a more recent restore point that you want to restore you should select choose a different restore point and press the next button. This will bring you to a screen, as shown in Figure 2, which contains a list of all available restore points that you can restore.

    2. the list of available restore points

    You must select the restore point that you want to restore, and then press the button next to start the restore process. Vista will display a window showing your selected restore point and asking you to confirm that it is that you want to restore.

    3. confirm the selected restore point

    If you want to select a different restore point, press the Back button. Otherwise, you can press the Cancel button to exit the system restore or the button finish to begin the restore process. If you have selected finish, Vista will display a second prompt asking you to confirm that you want to continue restoring.

    4. second Confirmation

    If you are sure you want to restore, then press the Yes button. Vista will now log you off the computer and start the system restore process, as shown in Figure 5 below.

    5. restoration of a restore point

    When the restore is complete, your computer will be restarted and when Vista starts it backup will be restored to its previous state. When you open a Vista session for the first time after the restore, you will see a message indicating that the restore was successful.

    6. system restore was successful

    If there are problems with your computer because the last restoration, you can return to your previous settings to ebb in the system restore utility and select Undo system restore by pressing the next button.

    7 undo the last system restore

    Your computer should now work correctly again.

    With the help of the restoration of the system in the Windows recovery environment

    Manual creation of Restore Points

    As mentioned previously, it is also possible to create manual restore depending on points. Some popular designs to create manual restore points are when you have your computer configured perfectly and I would save the State in case of problems in the future. To create a manual restore point, you must follow these steps:

    1. Click the Start button to open your Start Menu. The Start button looks like this:
    2. Click on the control panel menu option.
    3. Click the option menu system and Maintenance.
    4. Click on the system menu option.
    5. Click on the System Protection in the list on the left.

    You will now be at the System Protection tab in the system control panel. This tab allows you to enable and disable the system restore as well as making the new manual restore points.

    8. the System Protection tab

    To create a manual restore point, you must click on the button create. When you press this button a prompt asking you to give a title to this manual restore point.

    9. Enter the manual restore point title

    Type a title for the manual restore point and press the button create. Vista will now create a restore point manually and once finished, post a notice that it was created successfully.

    10. Manual restore point has been created

    Now that you have finished doing the manual restore point, you can close the system window.

    Try to download the correct and up-to-date drivers.

    This should solve your problem.

    Let us know if these steps solve your problem.  I hope the information is useful.

    Kind regards

  • [question] what is the ports to use ISDN G/W?

    Hello. I am a newbie of telepresence area.

    I face to configure an ISDN G/W befind the firewall.

    To connect to other devices, I need to know which ports are using.

    I searched for information through Google and CISCO Web page, but I couldn't know.

    I hope that someone knows about the ports ISDN G/W. help, please...

    Thank you.

    You should mention this kind of gateway that you use, the better would be to also mention the version of the software.

    Also include some info from your deploymet.

    For the old codian procucts (like 3241/8321 ISDN GW), have a look here:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/articles/conferencing_products_conferenceme_ports_used_kb_3.shtml

    SIP is not currently supported, but I read somewhere here that it will come as well.

    It depends somewhat on your deployment which ports must be open and which should be blocked.

    Be cautious when you deploy an ISDN GW with connectivity to the public ISDN network

    as an open ISDN GW can cause unwanted / fraud calls that can generate a large number of costs.

    Better is to have a strict plan of numbering on the ISDN GW itself and also to block calls via a control call (vcs/cucm).
