Question - loop on Satellite L350-170 Windows error recovery

Toshiba Satellite L350-170 - Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 2.00 GHz, 2 GB, 250 GB, 17 "TFT, DVDSM, VHP

My wife bought three weeks ago. Use of the lamp. Everything works fine, until a dialogue of "Startup Repair" appeared. Since then, the machine starts.

Machine goes into "Windows Error Recovery" immediately after the Toshiba start screen and has the following options;
(1) run the Startup Repair tool
(2) start Windows normally

Option 2 results in a blank screen and finally goes back to the screen "Windows Error Recovery".

Option 1 has the reboot dialog box;

"Your computer was unable to start.
Startup Repair is checking your system for problems... »

At this point, the Toshiba laptop enters an endless loop.

So what I do now? There is no disc came with the laptop, so I can't reinstall the operating system. The dealer (Comet) is less useful and don't know no refund or Exchange for a defective product.

Can someone please!

Try this:

Press F8 immediately after that the laptop has been turned on.
Then choose the first option called fix my computer.
Then a new window should open and there you can choose the option called Toshiba recovery.

Please note then this procedure would start the Toshiba HDD recovery and the BONE to relocate again. This would be to format the whole HARD drive and set the OS to the factory settings.

In my eyes, you can use this procedure for recovery of HARD drive, or you can try to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba recovery disc.
Both lead to the same results

Good bye

  • How to start the installation of recovery on Satellite L350-170?

    Hello

I'm new to this so please be gentle with me! -J' have a Toshiba Satellite L350-170 (Windows Vista SP2). I burned the recovery DVD 2 right after that I got back. I decided to get it back to factory settings, so I put the first recovery disc in the drive and... nothing. It will not automatically play/start to start the recovery process. I can access the files on the drive through "MY COMPUTER" but you can see a 'set-up '. I had already used the discs to recover and it worked then no problem.

There is nothing wrong with the computer or the error messages

Apologies if its been said before, but can someone help or I would like to know what is happening please?

    with deep gratitude

    Myke

    Hello Mike

If it worked in the past that I n t see the reason why it shouldn't still works one time, except the discs are damaged.

    Anyway, try this:
Start your laptop and press F12 repeatedly to enter the boot menu
Insert disk 1 into the optical disc drive
In the list, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER

ODD must start to read the disc and you should see something on the screen.

    It works for you?

  • New recovery for Satellite L350-170 discs save updates?

I just restored my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS on my Toshiba Satellite L350-170, using the recovery disks that I created 4 years when I bought my laptop.

After you restore the operating system, it took the better part of a day to install all the Microsoft updates, including Service Pack 2 Vista and other programs that I use (e.g. MS Office, Real player, AVG etc.).

Now everything is up to date, I have created a new hard disk system restore point and run the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. Just out of curiosity, will be created until the last restore point recovery disks or it again just the discs that I have, that restore it to factory settings?

If this only restores to factory settings, is there a way to create a system disk to get back to the point that it is now?

Creation of recovery disks has nothing to do with the points and restore your settings.
Recovery recorded on the HARD disk image is created long ago and contains all the necessary parameters created at this time.

Creator of recovery disc just copy this recovery image on empty media.

Whenever you use recovery discs, you will own BONES without updates and you must repeat this installation of additional updates.

If this is not the case, how it would be difficult to downgrade from Vista? Is there a risk of bricking my laptop? could u do a list of things that I would need and a guide step by step on how downgrade but remembering I'm not a computer very know how nobody so keep it very basic =)
Also - what is void your warranty? I would be able to send my laptop for toshiba and they do?

    Hello!

Downgrade from Vista to XP isn't very difficult and it should be possible that you can do yourself.

You need at least one drive in Microsoft Windows XP with SP2. Boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. But you need the SATA drivers, the computer can recognize the HARD drive. For drivers, you need Intel Storage Manager, which can be downloaded on the site of Toshiba and this is workaround step by step how to do this:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

If you have installed XP, you must install all the drivers and tools for this. All what you need you can find on the Toshiba site:

  • Should what cable I connect Satellite L350-170 on my TV?

I have a simple question... What cable should I connect and view my Satellite L350-170 on my TV?

    Hello

    How to check the manual?

As much as I know L350-170 does not support the TV out port.
It does not support HDMI as well.

So that it supports only a VGA port.
If your TV supports a VGA port (some LCD this) then you can use and VGA cable

  • Can't see the number of COA to my Satellite L350-170

    Hello

I just wanted to ask I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L350-170 and the sticker on the underside that CoA is all gone and cannot see all numbers or anything about it either and now today have noticed the band interleaved the vista COA silver strip comes out is the certificate of authenticity.

Not my broof I own a legal copy of windows vista. Is there anywhere online I can order a new COA I could asell remove it as looks a right mess is easy to remove or he will leave a clue sticky nast and should never, I sell the laptop it will be always legal with no sticker on.

Why Microsoft did not cost as on Vista. They would never then fade.
    Thanks for any info.

    Hello Pulse

The AOC is not so important. Your laptop model comes with the pre-installed operating system and this number belongs to the version preinstalled only and you can not use this number with any other installation of the OS.

When you use the recovery image for the installation of the OS that you should not enable using this number, so when you go to sell your laptop just be sure next owner will get original Toshiba DVD facilities.
"I just hope that you created using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. Do you have?

  • Initial configuration of the Satellite L350-170 hangs on step 3

    Dear all

I wonder if anyone can help. I took a laptop Toshiba Satellite L350-170 on Thursday received last week, left turning the battery for 24 hours before using (oh patience!)-he walks from Friday afternoon at around 15:00 and step 1 and step 2 of the initial installation went well. I created my profile login and password. He then started on step 3. Unfortunately I had to leave my office for a meeting, (the laptop is my personal, I got it to be delivered at work), and I guess he went into hibernation or mode 'sleep', because I had to sign in again when I came back to it.

I decided to leave over the weekend, but this morning, I had to reconnect, and it still occupies in step 3 to the top... it's now under 2.5 hours and it's still step 3 - is it meant to take this long? What IS 3 stage? Installation of the software?

I'm obviously reluctant to turn it off (certainly a last resort), but it's very, very stupid. every few minutes I turn and move the mouse on the touchpad. Someone at - he encountered this before? What is the bust? Should I turn off and see what happens?

If anyone has any suggestions I would be extremely grateful.

    Thank you
    Red

I put t know what happened with you for laptop and why the installation doesn t go to the next step and doesn t finished, but I guess something was wrong during installation and now the OS crashes.

Try to recover again and check if you can complete the installation.
Press F8 after you turn on the laptop.
Then choose the option called fix my computer.
Then a new window opens and there you have to choose the last option called Toshiba recovery.

Well, now the new recovery will begin and the operating system will reinstall again.

    Check it out!

  • Your opinion about Satellite L350-170

    Hello

I ve been looking at this laptop for a few days now and I m thinking go for it when I get my pay.
I just want to know if someone there what they think of him. What's the life of the battery as etc.

    Congratulations in advance :)

    Hello

I use Toshiba laptops for long time now and to be honest I don't like the L series laptops. The notebooks are OK, but I don't like the design. This negative one s for me

I must also say that quality-price ratio for this laptop is great, but I prefer to improve the design and because of this, I have my second Satellite phone.
Back to Satellite L350-170. I don't know how much it costs, but for that money, you will get excellent laptop with great 17 inch screen and it is perfect for every working day.
There is also a webcam with built-in microphone allowing you a perfect by Skype and other messengers communication.
For the life of the battery is not possible to provide the exact duration, but it is similar to my Satellite and I can work on 1.5 hours of battery power. But to be honest, this laptop is for me although permanent replacement and Office to work on the desktop with AC power supply.
OK all of us have different opinions on this subject.

So the question is who would you need the laptop. You want to upgrade the RAM and so on (you can improve it up to 4 GB)?
Talk about this with your local dealer.

  • Satellite L350-170 - number of the motherboard?

    Hi guys,.

I need the motherboard reference number a Toshiba Satellite L350-170. I should be grateful if you would help. Thank you.

    Hi varioxx,

The problem is that here you can talk with normal like you and me only, and we don t have access to Toshiba databases to verify the part number.

So I think you need to contact a service provider allowed in your country and ask the guys for part number. You can give them a call, for example, I think he should take a few minutes to get the part number of technicians.
And by the way: guys can order the motherboard too!

You can find a list of aspic here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

  • Need driver for Satellite L350-170

    I got a laptop Satellite L350 - 170.

But my brother has reported of the Gernamny without the driver, software and Win Vista.
    I'm a girl, so I can't slove this problem.

    Can someone help me?
    Please

    Hello

You didn t receive a disk that this laptop because this phone has been equipped with a recovery procedure internal.
This allows you to reinstall the operating system using the disk HARD recovery option.

In addition, you can find a preinstalled tool called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator on this laptop. There should be a shortcut on the desktop.

This tool lets you create a clean recovery disc! And this is highly recommended!
You need this disc if something goes wrong with the HARD drive!

Thus, create the recovery disk before you change anything on the HARD drive.

PS: The drivers are located on the European driver Toshiba page:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/-> support download &-> download drivers

  • On Satellite L350-170 drive failure

I have a Satellite L350-170 who suffered a failure of the drive. I did not the recovery disks. The only part of the hard drive that I can access is the recovery partition.

Anyone know of a way I can copy it to another disk and use it to rebuild me laptop?

It will not work on this path. You can use this recovery image with F8 (computer repair) only.
You cannot move to for example external HARD disk and start the process of recovery from there.

Until you have the factory settings, you can install OS using F8. You can do this so often desired.

  • Satellite L350-170 - sounds of clanking from the HARD drive

My laptop Satellite L350-170 performs a kind of rattling noise when the hard drive light flashes.
Is this normal because this is a replacement one but that I had did not all sounds.

    Hello

It is very difficult to say why this noise appears.
I have two laptops. On a laptop, the HARD drive clicks and creates its strange but 4 years it worked correctly.
The other HDD doesn t create sounds

So, as you can see not really easy to tell what could cause this noise of rattle, but I recommend creating a file backup.
In the worst cases could die your HARD drive and as a result, a backup is always recommended.

You said that the HARD drive has been changed so maybe you should ask ASP for more details and maybe this HARD drive will be replaced again.

    Hello

I have the Toshiba Satellite L350-170 and it's great. I am running Vista 32 bit and I got it for Christmas ' 08.

For a while now, just WiFi stop (if I use the webcam on msn or something) as if it is just overloaded, then I had to wait a few minutes before it turns back again!

Is there a driver to stay connected to the internet? In my taskbar, it is said that I am always connected, and when I check on ConfigFree (when I can't use the internet, but it says I * am * logged.)

    This can be solved?
    I hope you can help!

    Kind regards
    James K

    Hi James,

Maybe this problem is caused by the router. You should check the log of it. The router is always connected interruptions?
In this case an update would be desirable and let the ISP, check your Internet connection.

In addition, you can try updating the driver WLAN. The latest version is available for download on the Toshiba site.
