Question of battery and OS

Hi guys,.

I recently bought a laptop Lenovo Thinkpad T420. When I turned on first with the Windows 7 operating system, battery Manager showed that my battery is in good condition, it can store 71% of its original capacity. After that, I installed Windows 8.1 64bits. I noticed that the battery performance is continually decreaseing. (With the help of the 'powercfg-energy' command). Now, it can store 10% of its original capacity. Otherwise, sometimes occur when I use my laptop on battery capacity suddenly drops by about 50% to 7%, then switches. Is it possible that the reason for this the 8.1 Windows or it is independent of the operating system?

No problem to use Lenovo PM application in compatibility mode or install it via ms toolkit. PM is a very useful and very useful application, does not damage the battery or do something dangerous. In addition, PM to extend the battery life due to its unique fatures - load thresholds.

As the PM was developed for OS win7 and earlier versions, it is not compatible with win8/8.1/10. Thus, dependency settings driver and app metro don't relate to it. He needs just the Lenovo Power Management drivers.

If you are satisfied with the PM, use it.

  • Satellite M40 184 - Question on battery and speakers

    Hello everyone.

A few months ago, I bought a laptop (M40-184), which uses the harman Kardon speakers. I have two questions to ask you.

    1. the battery does not work for more than 1 hour (when the laptop is any more, or when internet explore is enabled). There are no other programs running. I think that this is not normal. What can I do? I'll be back there?

    2. speakers are a strange low frequency noise, when I'm listening to music or watching DVDs. It doen not to be little heavy or something. It was supposed to be a very good pair of speakes.
    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Usually battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
If you use a high performance such as 3d graphics tools tools, games or watch DVDs battery working time goes down.
But if you only use the explore IE the battery should work more than 1 hour. In this case I think that it s a battery failure. If you need to contact the ASP for the replacement of the battery.
In addition you must always remove the battery from the unit if the power adapter is plugged.

2.) as far as I know that the Toshiba Virtual sound utility is preinstalled on his unit. Here, you can change some sound settings. Maybe you can solve the problem with the speakers.

  • Questions o/e battery and RAM upgrade for dv6700

Hello everyone. I have 2 questions regarding my HP laptop (model number: dv6000 on the right corner of the eyelid, dv6920ea at the back of the laptop and HP System Info por displays as dv6700 notebook PC):

1 recently, I saw the battery life drops SIGNIFICANTLY and check battery HP says its normal and I should replace.

    • Purchase of a laptop battery that supports HP Pavilion dv6700 Entertainment Notebook PC series will be sufficient or should it be specially for my computer model laptop #dv6920ea?
    • What is the difference between a 12 cell and the battery 6 cells? My laptop does support both? What is the best?
    • What is the difference between This battery sold by Amazon and it sold by HP?

    2. I want to increase the RAM of my laptop. Currently its 3 GB (2048 + 1024). I searched memory upward and they say only 1 GB of RAM is available. HP sells RAM directly? Or is there anywhere else where I can buy real from RAM?

I know that these are very novice questions, so please bear with me.

Thanks in advance for the help. I look forward to a response.

    Best regards

    Ashraf

6-cell is a standard battery 12 cell's long battery life running, he executed more time when you're on battery and is slightly larger in size and may protrude from the laptop.

The difference between HP batteries and other brand, you can be sure to use the highest quality lithium batteries HP others you are not sure of the quality. Amazon announced says it's a real HP battery, so its all too good.

The battery fits any series HP DV6000 laptop computers.

Unless you use a 64-bit operating system, it's a waste of money to go to 4 GB.

Any brand of ram will work, just be sure that the seller guarantees the compatibility of your system model.

I use my MacBook Air as a desktop computer. Should I leave the charger plugged all the time or should I drain the battery and then recharge? What is the best for the battery?

Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.

If you keep the computer always connected, make sure that at least twice a month

Run it on battery until battery charge level falls to about 40-50%.

Please don't completely discharge the battery. Discharge the battery completely will reduce wear and tear on the battery.

"The question is often asked:" should I disconnect my laptop from the mains when not in service? Under normal circumstances it should not be necessary because as soon as the lithium-ion battery is full, a properly functioning charger will stop the load and load the pad will only engage when the battery voltage drops to a low level. Most of the users do not remove AC power, and this practice is safe. »

  • Strange battery and/or AC on Satellite M30x and Vista behavior

    Hi all!

I have Windows Vista and laptop M30X on board. Since a few days ago something strange was going on.
Sometimes (can not know when) system is suddenly goes to the battery. Sometimes the two LEDs of AC and battery are flashing (rappid on and outside) and sometimes one battery LED going off (whithout flashing). When I remove and replace taking AC, everything goes back to normal for a while.

I checked the Jack - nothing happens when you move (so I think that's not bad taking question). Battery works also very well (on 2-2, 20 h under Vista).

Anyone has idea what is happening? It would be Vista ACPI question? He must check on another system, but it is quite difficult to reinstall all things repeatedly.

How I tested AC power, battery, and other stuff to find out what is happening? And most importantly - how to reach or where to set?

    --
Will be happy for all help!
    V

PS. just he curled for any race day - nothing has past. So I guess, this problem is only when the laptop is moved (eg. organize, towers and woking on it). I think it means that electronics and OS are good, the question must be somewhere on the cable or / and socket - am I good?

    Hello

    > Could it be Vista ACPI question? He must check on another system, but it is quite difficult to reinstall all things repeatedly.
I don t think that this problem has something to do with the software or installed Vista.

I think it sounds more like an electronic power supply malfunction.
You should check the pins of the battery and if the AC adapter cable is not broken.

If the output voltage of the adapter is abnormal or if power outages, AC flashes orange.
In your case the two LED flashes orange and so I think that it s a hardware failure.

  • Satellite C660D - 10 d will not start unless I have remove the battery and reinsert

Present a strange problem that I can't solve.

Brand new, open all laptop worked perfectly.

Turned off normally and left it overnight with the power supply connected.

Next day morning pushed the button market / stop the portable green power on but light did not start.

Press and hold the button for 10 seconds does nothing.

I remove the battery for 10 seconds and put again and then you press the power button and you get a full boot up normally.

Everything on it works perfectly, you can restart the laptop without problem, you can even turn off then turn on half an hour later with no problems.

This problem occurs only when it is off and that the power is plugged in for several hours.

Back to toshiba warranty, I've attached a note explaining the problem and even returned what he locked up so he wouldn't turn until they removed the battery.

10 days later they returned it saying that the intensively checked the laptop and found no abnormalities.

I plugged the battery and pressed the power button / stop and the same question once again outside of this period, that the fan runs for 2 seconds then turns off, I removed and re inserted the battery about 15 times before it started normally.

Last night went out as normal and this morning the question of the standard of don't turn is not on at all.

Just to clarify him when the power supply is left connected overnight or for several hours so that the system is power off the laptop does not start, the Green led lights, no fans spin, no sign of life. One way to start is to remove the battery for 10 seconds.

I've been on toshiba again and said that if I return it a second time and they can't find a fault that I would have to pay £80 for it returned. I recorded the fault to prove that they is a fault but they seem not interested in that.

Up to now, the bios has been updated, reinstalled windows, I can't replace drive HARD or RAM that the warranty will be voided. However issue and im 90% that this is a motherboard.

All the ideas that I'm completely stuck on this one!

Sorry to hear you I have a problem with your laptop.
Problem you have is certainly hardware related issue and it should be solved by Toshiba.
In my opinion you should not spend money for new parts, trying to solve this problem.

Laptop warranty valid and should be set the laptop for free.

  • Satellite P300 question, shuts down and does not restart intermittently.

My wifes p300 presents a very confusing and annoying problem. She is now on her 3rd replacement the last two having the same problem.

I just turned off intermittently for no reason, a few times, it will restart but sometimes he used. So if I remove the battery and plug in the power that it restarts again however it then turns off again and do not restart unless the battery is returned. I think it may be a problem with the battery and the power cable as she said that the problem will only get worse if the computer will run on battery power for a while.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or had any suggestions as to what could be the problem.

    Bill has soon

Hello Bill and please describe your opinion on this subject. Reading your first post I ve also thought it should be overheating issue, but after this second announcement, I imagine that the food may be responsible for this turn off suddenly question.

Please post the results of the investigation. It can be really interesting to know what the problem is here.

  • Question about battery on Satellite P200-1JV

Can someone answer this question please: what Satellite P200 battery and battery recharging happens at 100% load, and the light is blue are there continuing fees to the battery or does the pc disconnect the load?

I ask this question because my laptop is plugged in for long periods of time and I don't want to fry the battery because 99% of the time its used as a desktop pc.

    Hello!

Have you checked the manual for more information? I downloaded it on the Toshiba site because I have another model and I can find the following information on the LED power:
+ In normal operating mode, the power light is blue (depending on the model you have purchased). If the system is in Standby Mode, the LED flashes orange, while the light is off when the computer is turned off or in Hibernation mode. +

I put t know if this information is useful for you, but if the laptop is connected with the adapter AC/DC battery will not be used.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question on battery & BIOS password

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite L20-101, so can u please answer my questions below.

Is it better for the battery life to always stay connected to an electrical outlet when possible, or charge the battery and then use it until it needs to be recharged again? I mean what is best for the life of the battery, and I need to know if stay connected to AC power affects the battery life.

How can I set a password for the laptop not windows? Because when I enter BIOS setup and set a password for user and supervisor. He just ask me about this password when I try to login to Setup again, but it is still continuous to the windows boot without asking me about a password.

    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge/discharge the battery about 500 times.
After this period, the battery will lose performance.
More recent laptops and batteries use the latest technology of load.
But I recommend to remove the battery, if you work on the DC for a long time.
In this case, you can extend the life of the battery and the performance

Please also check other topics on this topic like this.

If you want to set the BIOS password and it should appear at the beginning, you must activate the password at startup option in the BIOS.

    Advice please...

I use my laptop (A100) mainly as a desktop replacement. What should we do. the power supply cord. Leave it permanently, but don't damage the battery and the means of the laptop is permantly on standby, or constantly updated to recharge the battery every two hours, which is not very practical.

First laptop, so probably stupid question.

    Hello

There are different meanings to this topic.

    I manage like this:
I work on the current, and sometimes only with the battery until it is almost empty. Then I charge the battery while he was still working on current alternative.

After awhile of use, each battery life to shorten.

  • L450 blocked to 0.77 GHz processor when it is on battery and can not downgrade the BIOS

    Hello

It seems that the CPU of my L450 is blocked to 0.77 GHz speed when it is running on battery power and no matter how heavy the load, the CPU speed does not fit on the rise, unless I plug in the AC power cord.

This makes the laptop a bit useless on the battery when you do something time CPU.

This seems to be the unusual question, based on the quick searchand possibly related to the BIOS. I would try to downgrade from 1.16-> 1.15 or 1.12, but I always get the error "Failed to secure authentication of Flash", after you run the flash program and rebooted (when flashing the BIOS should start).

I turned off in the BIOS the option 'Prevention of RollBack Secure' settings, so I guess that's not the question for not having to downshift.

Does anyone else have this problem (with the speed of the CPU limitation or decommissioning of the BIOS)?

I tried to change options in plan powers the window, like 'The Maximum processor state', 'Intel CCMP energy efficiency Settings. "

I am running Windows 10, if any relevant information.

    OK, think about it.

The fix was to disconnect the battery and the power cord for one minute. After that, the CPU is scaling its speed again normally.

Good thing that this laptop model has a removable battery, I guess...

I'd like to, I would have thought this before going through the demotion to 8.1 Windows, since the I suspected it could be a bug with Windows 10 or some of its pilots.

I think that this problem was caused by my recent update BIOS of 1.12 to 1.16, but it's really just a guess.
