Question of Command and Conquer Generals - administrator

I have a question concerning the operation of the generals. (Which worked well since last year) now, apparently, it wouldn't run without administrator priviliages. Even if I start the game by clicking on "Run as Administrator", the game will not start at all. (no loading screens, etc.)

Even after a fresh reinstall of the game and then run the game as administrator, he refuses.

I am not sure, but the esp (if it needs a CD instead of run) looks like maybe this problem - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/kb3086255-is-this-a-half-baked-solution-or-am-i/13d4c03e-f04f-40b9-b438-e903eda3cab9 but for a different game.

If Yes, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086255 for more details.

If not, it may be a compatibility issue. See if install and run the game in Administrator and XP - SP3 mode (or any Windows operating system, the game was originally scheduled for) who could help him. But it won't be if the above is the problem. Details here - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

  • Error - Sorry, a serious error has occurred for the installation of the game Command and Conquer Generals.

    Original title: Command and Conquer Generals error? Some one care to help?

    So now I'm a little disappointed in how things are going right now.

    I had Command and Conquer Generals before and I used to read. Bug of the game problems are forcing me to remove it. To make things worse, my PC has been infected with malware/spyware that sneak their way inside my C & C Generals App. I did a full scan using Spy Bot Search & Destroy alongside with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.

    Then, I tried to re - download and installed a CLEAN one. However, when it loads the classic C & C Splash Screen(the loading page that appears before the game turns into a full screen app), another windows appears and displays this:

    "TECHNICAL PROBLEMS".
    "Sorry, a serious error has occurred."

    After the application closes, and happens whenever I start the game.

    Can someone help me?

    I don't know what's happened since she was working before.

    I do weekly maintenance using Auslogics Boost Speed 5 and Systweak Advanced System Optimizer 3.

    System Specs:
    Microsoft Windows XP SP3
    Intel Pentium IV CPU 2.00 GHZ
    256 RAM
    Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE Family (Microsoft Corporation)

    Every effort to answer my question will be much, much, much appreciated!

    I'll make sure that you have all the patches that are underway for the game Command and Conquer Generals.
    http://www.GameSpot.com/PC/strategy/commandconquergenerals/downloads.html

    If you have access to a library and a flash drive, you can download Microsoft Security Essentials or any other antivirus disk analysis software and then install on your computer even if you do not have access to the internet.
    This will help make sure that you have cleaned your computer properly.

    A system restore back to a point in time so if you have installed all new programs since the date of the restoration of the system, you won't have any more of these programs installed.

    I don't know any other software in system restore, but you can do a search on the internet, however, they can only restore from when their software is installed.

    I hope this helps.

This game is supposed to be compatible with windows 7 64 bit!

    Hello

    Could you please answer these money questions?

    one) tell us you receive the exact error message?

    (b) do you have the latest changes the software on your computer?

    (c) don't update you the latest drivers for your graphics card?

    To resolve this problem, try troubleshooting this issue with a clean boot to see if we can identify a program or driver causing the problem you are experiencing.

    A clean boot to start Windows with some programs and drivers off or on selection. By doing this through trials and errors we can hopefully identify a specific cause of this problem. Here's how to solve problems with a clean boot:

    Clean clean boot.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    The user account control permission.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type

    password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    If the problem is resolved, make sure what third-party program is at the origin of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Reset the computer to start as usual.

    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    If the problem persists, then you must update the graphics drivers and see if it makes a difference. You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

    1. open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. in Device Manager, locate the device, and then double-click the device name.

    3. click Driver tab, then click on set to update driver and follow the instructions.

    Now, try to follow the link provided to update a hardware driver that is not working properly and check the question below.

  • Command and Conquer Zero Hour does not

    There's this game: Command and Conquer Zero Hour

    He used to work on windows XP but now on windows 7, it does not work I do not know why...?

    This is the same version that worked on XP...

    I FOUND THIS POSTED BY SOME GENIUS CALLED DARKRAJIN AND IT WORKS ON THE GENERALS AND THE GENERALS ZERO HOUR

    This I found on another page and thought I'd share it here as long as it worked for me.

    I have a core i5 laptop running windows 7 Home premium 64-bit with an ATI graphics card and I had exactly the same problems to make C & C Generals and zero hour to work.

    Good news - just managed managed to make it work, and it IS Windows 7 that causes the problem, specifically, it is to do with permissions to access the folders - Windows 7 blocks access to the folders that uses General to run.

    The way I fixed it was:

    In 'My Documents' (usually to the C:\users\YOURNAME\documents), there should be a folder named "Command and Conquer Generals data" or "Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour data", which was put there when you installed the game.  You must create a text file in Notepad, and then save it in that folder.  However, you need to click on ' Save as ' and change the drop-down list box as text (.txt) file type to "all files".  Then save the file as "options.ini."

    Before you register, paste this text into the file to start:

    Anti-aliasing = 1
    BuildingOcclusion = yes
    DrawScrollAnchor =
    DynamicLOD = no
    ExtraAnimations = yes
    GameSpyIPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    Gamma = 50
    IPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    IdealStaticGameLOD = high
    LanguageFilter = true
    MaxParticleCount = 5000
    MoveScrollAnchor =
    MusicVolume = 55
    Resolution = 1024 768
    Retaliation = yes
    SFX3DVolume = 79
    SFXVolume = 71
    ScrollFactor = 50
    SendDelay = no
    ShowSoftWaterEdge = yes
    ShowTrees = yes
    StaticGameLOD = custom
    TextureReduction = 0
    UseAlternateMouse = no
    UseCloudMap = yes
    UseDoubleClickAttackMove = no
    UseLightMap = yes
    UseShadowDecals = yes
    UseShadowVolumes = yes
    VoiceVolume = 100

    It's just how the game remembers what options you chose (the music volume, brightness and others) and you can change them once the game is running using the menu options.

    Now the bits of the key - first, make sure you have full read/write permissions for the folder Command and Conquer Generals data: to do this right click on the file, then properties then the Security tab and change the permissions for all users.  It could also be useful in making sure that no file is 'Read only' in this folder.

    Change the compatibility mode of the game by right-clicking on the game in the start menu, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab.  I used the "Change settings for all users" button down and changed to Windows XP (SP3), as well as to check the "run as Administrator box".

    Hey Presto! It worked, demystify the myth according to which C & C Generals will not work on 64 bit systems (as some people have said).  In all honesty, I have not tried online multiplayer yet, a few skirmishes.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite series A turn off for the game Command and Conquer 3

    Hi all

    This happened to me twice. While I was relax play skirmish Command and Conquer 3, computer laptop turns off suddenly. I was running an external power supply and the battery was full. What is even more strange, it was impossible to next turn to the until I removed the battery and plugged in.

    I bought this game around March and was able to beat the 3 campaigns without these attractions.
    I suspect that this may be caused by overheating, because after the laptop is pretty hot. What do you think? I bought it in January.

    In my Office I occasionally removed the fan and radiator vacuum, there accumulates a lot of dust sometimes. It is not easy in the case of laptops. Any suggestions? See you soon.

    Hello

    You should do a bios update, because I had a similar problem with my A100 and after updating the bios to the version the most recent (5.60) I had no problem more. Maybe it helps.
    The other thing is, if you have a ventilation system which is clobbed with dust, then you should take a container with compressed air (you can get it in every electronic market/store) and gently lead some air to breath through the ventilation holes. (like 2 seconds. Wait, then wait 2 seconds and so on; just make short sounds :))
    Then, ventilation must be clear.
    Otherwise bring your machine to a service partner for a checkup of material because some loose cables inside the machine could probably be a reason that the machine feeds not correctly on...

    Welcome them

  • Command and Conquer: red alert on Windows 7 (Windows 95 game on Windows 7?)

    Hello

    I am currently trying to install Command and Conquer: red alert on my computer, which is running Windows 7. I have scoured the internet for answers and found the following two sites which, although not specifically designed to Windows 7, I thought may help: http://www.ehow.com/how_4852443_conquer-red-alert-windows-xp.html and http://www.ntcompatible.com/compatdb/details/command_and_conquer_red_alert_windows.html. From the second link, I downloaded the compatibility tools kit which, I suppose, has allowed me to get to step 10 on the first link.

    Which means that I did everything up to actually be able to install the game. When I try to install the game I get the following error: "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Check your computer's system information to see if you need a x 86 (32 bit) or x 64 (64-bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher. "I looked at the system information and Windows 7 is a 64-bit program (which many of you probably already know, I'm not very tech savy). In any case, I wonder if there is a way in which I can get this Windows 95 (32 bit of sense game I guess) to run on Windows 7. Any help is appreciated thank you.

    Command and Conquer: red alert is not at all compatible with windows 7. Red Alert 3 is good.

  • How can I install Command and Conquer: Red Alert (Windows 95) on Windows 7?

    Hello!  I tried to install Command and Conquer on my new computer that is running Windows 7, but it not even will let me install it, much less play.  I insert the disc, click on 'Install Red Alert' and it gives me a progress bar indicating "Preparing Install Wizard" then the page install red alert rises, but a windows message said "this game is intended to be run from Windows 95." Whethee I click the X or 'OK' it just cancel the whole process.

    I searched the database "Help and Support" (from the start menu of windows 7) "Installation old games.  I clikced on the result "make older programs run in this version of windows" from there, I clicked on the link to open the document "program Compatability Troubleshooter."  The program I want to run (red alert) did not appear, so I clicked "unregistered". It prompted me to enter the location of the file, so I typed in the location "" E:\setup95\SETUP. "» EXE"was from there, I clicked on the"Try recommended settings"as my troubleshooting option. He gave me the "Compatibility of the test settings" page, so I clicked on the button "Start the program" (at this point, the default compatibility selection is Windows XP). From there on, a 'user account control' shield appears, so I type my user name and password.  The same thing happens as before: preparing to install the shield, and then cancel it.  So from there I click 'next' on the compatibility of the program window.  He said "Troubleshooting is complete, is solved the problem?  I say, "No test using different settings."  This gives 4 options to select, and one applies, so I will select "the program worked in earlier versions of windows but won't install or run now."  Then it takes me to a list where I can choose windows 95 and one host of others.  I selcet Windows 95 and click Next.  I was excited, but exactly the same thing happened as when I tried with the XP settings applied.  I give myself a user account control screen, I type the name and the password, but the same thing happens.  'Windows 6.1 is running.  It is a single product from windows 95. "And then I have to close it.   Any suggestions?

    Hi xPEZZx,

    What version of Command and Conquer you trying to install?

    Follow the link to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center that provides information on the different versions of the game.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/search.aspx?type=software&s=command%20and%20Conquer%20red%20alert

    You can try to copy the configuration file for the game on your computer and so it works in compatibility mode and check if that helps. Execution of convenience store compatibility is just a workaround solution, if this does not help, you might need go to the new version of the game.

    You can also contact the Publisher of the game and check if they can help you in the installation.

  • Command and Conquer

    Help!

    Ive decided to live my teen years and have obtained a copy of the first command and conquer game, the problem is obvious is his 95. Im running windows 8 on my laptop, when I insert the disc, it opens the files stored on the drives ok, but if I try to open one of them (of course trying INSTALL everything first), I get an understood "App is not compatible with the device. Now I know that there must be a way around the problem of compatibility, but the problem is that I'm beyond useless technology!

    Ive tried Google, but no help (for windows 7).

    Anyone able to help with this?

    Bravo guys n girls

    Very well!  Sorry for the delay but I have some information for you.

    EA has a sale this weekend on ' command & conquer - the Ultimate Edition.  Right now it's only $9.99:

    https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/c-c-the-ultimate-collection/PC-download/bundle/Standard-Edition

    The way it works is that you buy, download "Origin", which is a software that allows you to download the game.  Once the game is downloaded, you can tell origin not to start each time you start Windows, but you will probably have to open original to start C & C.  I test this and for you confirm if I enjoyed myself. :-/

    Steam seems to only sell C & C titles later - I think that this is because the Valve and EA have a truce rather uncomfortable, but that's just speculation on my part.

    GoG.com also has a sale this weekend, specifically on EA games, and you can find that here:

    http://www.Gog.com/promo/ea_weekend_promo_180414

    Now, if you are wanting to try running your own disks first, you can try to use Compatibility Mode in Windows to do this.  How you can activate the Compatibility Mode is the following:

    1) open Windows Explorer and navigate to the disk drive.

    (2) right click on the 'Setup.exe' icon (or 'install', or what is called that starts the Setup program) and choose 'properties '.

    (3) in the properties of the component is a tab "compatibility".  Click on that and you will see many options to run the Setup program in a certain mode.  Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode dethrone" and it will make the menu drop-down available for you to choose a mode.  Try the Windows option below it will give you and if this fails, try Windows XP or Windows 7.  It may take more than once to this so that it can work.

    I suggest you do this with the installer it's because it undulates then forwards for the game, too... so once the installation program runs correctly in X Compatibility Mode, the game will be set to run also in this way.  If the installation works, but the game is not, then go to the .exe of the game which has been installed on your computer and try the same tricks with Compatibility Mode with one that works.

    There are a few more tips for you, and it will probably help you more, if you follow the path "use my old drives:

    http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/31459-Windows-8-compatability/

    I recommend just buying the pre-packaged originally simply because it is relatively cheap and will probably save you time... and be more likely to work.

    Let me know how it goes!  And good luck to you. :)

    When you say that you "tried other cd rom" do you mean you replaced the drive to CD or just tried another disc?  If you haven't tried another drive and it's something that you are able to do, I would say that.  It is possible that it could be hardware related.
