Question on Satellite L70-B-119 function key

Hello
I have a Satellite L70-B-119 and recently after a trip abroad my function keys have been restored to use standard instead of the function which they have been defined in the. I tried to change it in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work.

Any help or suggestions please?

Thank you

To be honest I don't know what you're doing, man, but what I know is that you can switch between the standard and special mode.
I send you a screenshot where you can change it.

If I misunderstood your question please be nice and explain exactly what you mean.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - error function keys not working and affected

    I have a Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E-04Q00VEN.

A couple of weeks, I started to have a dialog "Error of TouchED" to come to the start box (containing the message: 'Thotkey' recovery has no code error 0 X 00031402, 0x00000002) and at the same time the function keys did not work.

I spent several hours as a result of the wide variety of questions that have been posted on this forum and elsewhere regarding this problem with computers laptop Toshiba, but nothing has worked. I reinstalled all the drivers from my initial backup disk, installed new drivers on the Toshiba site, updated the bios and restored the system to date before the problem started to occur. I also can't find Thotkey.exe everywhere on my machine.

Can anyone help with this? It seems to be a common problem, for which he doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Any useful response would be really appreciated.

  • Satellite C55-A5310 - special function key does not

I'm presenting the same report that I sent in support but repost it here in case where I do not get a useful solution.

Yesterday, I reset my Toshiba Satellite C55 A5310 (Part #PSCF6U-0EF066 Serial #9D362065Q). It was the factory reset, then had 10 Windows reinstalled automatically. After the reboot, my special function keys were set back from the normal function of F1 - 12 and didn't find any way to change. Toshiba parameters have been removed after the reboot (not my fault), so I searched in my BIOS settings, but don't found no available keyboard option, then reinstalled the possible necessary drivers to change their back (Toshiba Service Station and HW Setup). HW installation provided the ability to use any special functions or default settings Fn, but after choosing special keys, apply and ok - nothing has changed. I ran the program as an administrator and still no change.

Being only 16 years with only a basic understanding of the functions of the computer I please ask no simple solution not requiring any sort of 'hacking' or adjust the permissions (that made me in the first place) or editing the registry. I'm too scared to do it again and ruin all my laptop operating!

There should be a special function key setting in the BIOS.

Installation of HW is for Win7. Replaces the Toshiba system parameters, you need Toshiba system driver installed for it to work. It looks like you may have installed Win7/8 drivers/utils in Win10.

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A120-10W under Windows XP Pro SP3, and just had my hard drive erased, because of virus. Everything seems to work fine, but I can't use function keys to change the brightness etc. I looked in various forums help however most seem to give answers for Windows 7 or vista. 7
    Can someone please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

As you can see in other threads, you need special drivers/tools for the keys FN get their work because there is no standard Windows driver for these keys.

In any case, you must download the common Modules like Akuma wrote. After installing the key should start working again.
You can download the tools on the official website of Toshiba.

If you have problems with the installation or it succeeded, just after a few comments. ;)

  • Satellite A350-13 a - function keys does not work

    I have the Satellite A350-13. I installed Windows 7 for 2 weeks.

The function keys does not work although I have installed the Toshiba value added package, which is responsible for the activation of the function keys.

What the solution to this problem?

    > Function keys does not work although I have installed the toshiba value added package, which is responsible for the activation of the function keys

Next to the VAP (value added package) you need to install the Flash Utility card support!
Card Flash utility support controls the keys FN and not the VAP! But VAP is also needed.

I also have a Satellite L850-1PD upgraded to Windows 10, it would seem that even if Microsoft has provided an update to win 10, Toshiba doesn't include not among mobile phones compatible with Windows 10 and does not release from updates. For me it does not work the buffer until it has fully started winning 10, and I do not use the touchpad.

  • Satellite L750 - loss of function key FN

Toshiba laptop Satellite L750, Win Home Premium Sp1. FN key no longer brings up the bar at the top of the display function. Toshiba VAP is installed.

Start / all EGP/Toshiba/Utilities/Flash Cards active function ok keys but does not work after a reboot. So, does that mean flash cards is not enabled at startup? Don't know how long it took place, but I know that it worked initially. At this point, I did a "clean boot", don't know if this has anything to do with this minor problem.

Apart from this, the computer works great! Any ideas appreciated.

    Well, uninstall the VAP system.
Reboot the laptop and install CCLeaner (freeware)
    Reboot once more.
Now run CCLeaner and clean the registry.
    Reboot once more.
    Download and install the VAP
    Reset

  • Satellite Pro M - F5 function key is no longer working

    Hi all

I had many years of happiness with my Toshiba laptop without problem. The operating system is Vista Home Plus.

A year ago, my son fell of the machine, which resulted in the cracking of the display. In order to continue to use it, I plugged a keyboard and mouse alternatives and linked to a flat monitor.

Using Fn + F5, it worked perfectly, as a de facto for ages up to a desktop computer date relatively recently: the cable between the laptop and the monitor went off, causing the monitor goes into mode 'sleep'. When put back in place, the screen has not returned and I had persistent problems since then. Using the key F5 now has no effect.

    Points to note

-as long as the machine starts, the external monitor displays usual text, but when the Windows logo appears, it restores the standby mode and continues to the portable computer to boot correctly.

-When I boot in safe mode the key F5 perfectly functions

-J' cured the problem previously by starting in safe mode and restore to a checkpoint taken a few days before. This is a temporary solution, because whenever the computer is turned off, it happens again. What is interesting, however, is that he always seems to have been a recent automatic Windows Update downloaded when I look at the list of recent system check points and what triggered their!

Get completely tired of it now. Any help much appreciated.

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what the reason is for this problem, but it would be interesting to know which laptop, you have exactly.
You can add this information, please?

Anyway, for now I would recommend to update the display driver and BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before you start the update BIOS close all background running, also your antivirus and firewall programs. You must be logged in as an administrator.
In addition, I would recommend removing the old display driver before installing a more recent. After removing, restart the laptop and clean using CCleaner. Restart and install the latest version.

I hope this can solve your problem and by the way: you have installed SP for Vista?

  • Satellite L550-207 certain function keys not working not

    Hello

I read a lot about this problem, but don't got no solution for mine: all keys except F8 funtion (wireless) and F9 (toggle touchpad) work very well.

Already insalled VAP - reboot - and memory card Support utility Flash, doesn't seem to help.

I use Win7-64 bit (with latest updates), most new bios, firmware, and any new version of all toshiba products pre-installed.

    Any idea help?

    Hey,.

FN + F8 to disable or activates the wireless network card and FN + F9 control touchpad functionality. So, if all other keys work, looks like you forgot to install the driver WLAN and touchpad. Have you installed them?

All the drivers and tools you will find on this page:

Can someone please help me on this? Thank you!

    Hey Buddy,

If you haven't noticed this problem until yesterday, I would advise you to restore the system to a previous point. Maybe you have installed or uninstalled several main structural factors or tools and so he doesn t more.

If that doesn t work, try to reinstall the package of added value and the touchpad. The two you can download on the Toshiba site.

  • For the ArcSoft keyboard function keys

There is no documentation on the function keys on this keyboard for Windows 7.  What does each of the function keys?

    Hello

By "function keys" do you mean the F1 through F12 keys along the top? Those that are designed to work within each application, with some generally accepted standards. For example, F1 usually means the 'Help' function in applications that support a help function. Similarly, F5 usually means 'Refresh', as it does in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

But although there are standards, they are not always respected. For example, my file manager 3rd - party (which replaces Windows Explorer) use Ctrl (control) + 'R' to mean 'Refresh '. If the answer to your question boils down to, 'he (usually) depends on the application.

It is also the answer to the same question when asked for the special function keys along the second row of keys. Last point, you can find what keys do what are the functions in the menu at the top of almost all the applications bar. Where a function button is enabled for a function in the menu bar, that will be visible key in the location hot key along the right edge of a menu. Thus, for example, 'Refresh' is shown in the View Menu of Internet Explorer, opposite the word on the right edge F5 is displayed.

I would like to know if that answers your question, or ask any more questions if you have.

    Kind regards

  • Shares to function keys

I have read all the help on the creation and management of stocks, but I can't learn how to assign an action to a function key (or change the key, to which he is assigned).

Thank you for answering this question.

You assign the function key when you save the action:

Assign a keyboard shortcut to the action. You can choose any combination of a function key, the Ctrl key (Windows) or the command key (Mac OS) key and the SHIFT key pressed (for example, Ctrl + Shift + F3), with these exceptions: in Windows, you cannot use the F1 key, nor can you use F4 or F6 with the Ctrl key. If you assign an action the same shortcut which is used for a command, the shortcut will apply the action rather than the command.

There is a little video on how to do it Matt Kloskowski: Photoshop reference Guide | Shortcuts for Photoshop Action | Peachpit . He's old, but it is still valid.

  • Special function keys not working not not on Satellite C50 - Windows 8.1

    Hello

    Please could someone help me.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A0393, I received a few months ago with already installed Windows 8.1 (64-bit). Today, I got a message saying that I had to watch the PC health, a blue message Toshiba about that the access agreement and I noticed that there are three updates that needed to be done, the only one, I remember being the Toshiba Video Player. I think that another had to do with the light of the charger?
    I do not know.

But once I rebooted my laptop after the update I noticed that the special function keys were not working (i.e. the volume, mute, pause and play, etc..). Then, I went to the Toshiba Office help and in Control Panel and select the keyboard tab. I did as the setting for the special function mode has been selected.

Now, when this setting is in place, some keys work but for F3, F5, F6, etc. and when I want to use special features that the volume up and down work when pressing 'Fn', but the special function mode is still selected? These two work only, not the mute or the flightmode or bluetooth, which was operating normally before the updates.

I googled but can't find something specific to 8.1, or not covered do not upgrade to 8.1. I can't find the flashcard utility and do not want to try something where I don't know what I'm doing. How can I get these special function keys working again normally? Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to give as much information as possible.

    Thank you very much

    Melanie

    Hello

It seems strange to me that an update of Toshiba (Toshiba Video Player, etc.) would have an impact on the key features of function.
However, the function key (F1 - F10) can be used in combination with or without the FN key. It depends on the special function key mode.

In case you want to use the F1 - F12 functions without the FN key, the key mode of function must be enabled (should be set to the special mode of operation)

Full details here how it works:
    https://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD2503B90001R01.htm

Now it these buttons would not work even if pressing the FN key, then there is a problem with the software.

First of all I would recommend allows you to set the default BIOS because this mode key function can be changed in the BIOS too.
After this, check if the key would work. If not, reinstall
    Key feature of Toshiba utility

And the driver for the Toshiba system

You can also check if the essential service has not been disabled.
Start the Task Manager and go to start a number of questions. You must activate all Toshiba apps, services and then restart.
