• Replacement of FVS336v2 due to the lmitation speed

  Hello everyone,

  We used to have a Netgear FVS336Gv2 that we are more or less satisfied. Combined with 2 times WAN with 16 Mbit/s down and 1 Mbps upstream each she worked enough (small problems here and there and a strange behavior from time to time, but nothing really serious).

  Now, we went from a 10 Mbps upstream with an option for an upgrade of the second WAN and WAN to 150Mbps Down - and the problems begin. We will only succeed 25Mbps downstream but complete upstream. A little searching in the forums revealed that others are facing the same problem: 60Mbps LAN-to-WAN throuput according to the datasheet but only about 30Mbps of actual downstream because of the current firmwares.   1. the speed of LAN-to-WAN in the technical sheet: is it measured by WAN connection or for the two networks combined? If it's the combined speed even the refreshed hardware version (FVS336Gv3 with 350Mbps) won't be enough for us, when you apply the same relationship between a nominal flow and real LAN-to-WAN. We need at least 300 Mbps of real throughput LAN-to-WAN.

  2. in the forums, I found an ad that Netgear will close some of its sectors of activity from 01.01.2017. About the lack of truly new products lately in the VPN Firewall section, we have the fear of buying a product that will be liked in the year.

  Does anyone have information on these points? We would be really happy about that.

  To answer your questions, the speed of 60Mbps is actually a combination of the two WAN ports even as the FVS336Gv3 with 350Mbps (also combined speed of the two WAN ports). So if you want to use 150 Mbps of download speed, you may need to upgrade to the v3 version. For your second question, it is only for the UTM series and does not apply to VPN Firewall.

  I tried Ubuntu in my HP Envy X 360 15 - w002nx laptop.  After you uninstall using uninstaller os, single operating system Ubuntu is deleted but not the GRUB. It always shows in the UEFI boot order. How to remove Ubuntu boot order entry? I tried EasyUEFI and also bcedit.exe command. It removes the entry, but after restart iis to come again. How to get rid of this problem?

  Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

  In order to achieve that you need, please read these articles and follow the steps.

  You must first remove the EFI partition Ubuntu (actually, I think ths is what you see)

  After that, you can remove the HDD MBR GRUB using bootrec.exe /fixmbr and /FixBoot Bootrec.exe (this is done using CD/DVD recovery Windows or with Windows 10 - >ISO)

  These operations are a little risky and if done incorrectly can make your PC unbootable. Please, back up your most important data before taking any action.

• Limiting the flow and speed of export

  I have a small question about speed rate and export data. I am using first Pro CC 2015. If I limit the data rate at all during export (for example 100 Mbit/s), making export more slowly or more quickly than if I were to leave "to limit the data rate" unchecked? Let's say that I am not concerned by the size of the final output, I want just the best quality with a quick export.

I'm able to reach the ESxi box but I get certificate errors in internet explore and agree to when there is no text on the page just like Java or something I'm missing. someone to experience this. ? Also, I can access my esxi machine of different windows without problem, I prefer to just access it from my Linux laptop.

• New to vmware - network speed help please

  Hi all

  I recently joined and installed ESXi 5.1.0 Build 799733 on a box tailor-made purely to test many of our customers use it and I need to familiarize myself with it. Everythings went well except 1 perticular question so far. I have 2 vm Win Server 2008 on a test domain that work very well. However my pc if I rdp to one of the servers and start a copy of the file to say 4 GB RDP, its says its will take about 5 hours ago, transferring 1 mb/s all about surely is not fair?

  The server and my pc are on ssd and a local network of 1 GB connection. Ive browsed the forums and found an article on sending disable unloading on the two network cards, which I did, but it remains the question of speed. Someone at - it any guidance please as its really frustrating. I rang vmware for support but was advised to try here before you buy a solution of their own.

  Please remember I'm new on this and don't have much linux background. I hope someone here can help solve it please?

  With a 1GBit switch port and a 1GBit "Auto/Auto" NIC (speed and Duplex auto-negotiation) is the recommended setting. If you get a lower speed, or one of the components (switch port, NIC, or network cable) has a problem or your NETWORK card is is simply not supported on ESXi, i.e. the required drivers are missing. In this case, you can get a NETWORK card, or at least one which is known as work.

• Repetitive requests for password

  I use AOL mail. Thunderbird has recently begun repeatedly asking for passwords, even if they are registered. Sometimes clicking on try again or x'ing out seems to let go of the front. I go to pop IMAP so don't know if that's part of the problem. It happens randomly and especially if I select a saved folder. I even deleted Thunderbird and related files appdata and did a new download to reinstall. The problem still occurs. I experienced it with my laptop so I think it's a problem of Thunderbird, but must cease to use Thunderbird if it continues. Wouldn't do that I have used the program for years and have really enjoyed.

  I think I solved the problem. I started to think that if the retry might work after a while then Thunderbird was perhaps not allowing enough time for AOL to connect and answer. I opened the configuration manager and looked for a timeout entered and found that mail Server timeouts have been all set to 29. I doubled all 60 and Thunderbird seems today is behaving properly.

  As this is a recent problem, I don't know if the response time of AOL has slowed or if a recent update to Thunderbird changed the default value of AOL. Anyway, I think that the answer so for Mozilla increase the default time-out for AOL e-mail.

  Thank you for the reply christ1. It does not solve the problem, but it did get me thinking about the question of speed between Thunderbird and AOL and this led me to the solution.

  The BIOS update is recommended only if you have problems with your laptop.
  If your laptop is running properly, then a BIOS update is not necessary!

  The new HARD drive should be recognized by the BIOS correctly event it s an old version.
  It's not easy to say what HARD drive is the best.
  Usually faster HARD drive with rpm higher can be stronger and can develop more heat as a slower HARD drive.

  But in most cases it is not question of speed, HARD drive is it shouldn't t be a temperature problem

• How can I update the BIOS without windows on V3 - 372

  I bought an ACER V3-372-57CW and refuses the computer at startup (the Green ACER splash screen at boot EFI appear same) when my Tablet WACOM Intuos 4 (if not fully functional) is inserted any USB port. Customer service Acer not recognize wanted to nor register the question so my last hope is that a BIOS update will solve the problem.

  I'm used to the manufacturers supplying utilities executable flash BACK running under FreeDOS etc but for the Acer V3 - 372, I can only find an executable for Windows 10. Of course, uninstalling the entire system just for the update of the BIOS is not a viable option.

  Is it possible to get either one executable for the update of the BIOS BACK or something that could be used from within Linux (with EFI)?

  At the present time, I have installed on my Windows computer.  If someone were to tell me that I needed to install another operating system to update the BIOS, I don't think it was a big deal.  I would like to...

  1. create a system with the Windows image backup

  2 clean the clean disk with 'diskpart '.

  3. install any OS they told me that I had to install.

  4. update of the BIOS

  5. after updating the BIOS, I would just wipe the drive with diskpart and restore my Windows system image.

  6. it would take me less than 45 minutes to accomplish steps 1 through 5.  Probably about 30 minutes to be honest.

  Use my logic.  Except that I'm not a Linux expert and don't know how to do what I tell you with Linux.  Just google it.  I see that some people use clonezilla, but I don't know there is a command to do the same.

  Check with the Ubuntu forum and tell them what you need to do and I'm sure it's possible.

  Important note: own Diskpart is priceless, if you n-front-rear of switching between the old modes and UEFI... or deleting partitions... or clean installation of an OS.  However, make sure that you don't accidentally wipe the bad drive (drive).  Be careful.  There is step-overs.
