Question ram Dell Vostro 3449

Hello

I'm considering buying laptop Dell Vostro 3449, I have a question about ram.

I want to increase the ram 8 GB, but the manual says it can support up to 4 GB only.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the ram is expandable? All the world does?

I know the chipset that has this laptop?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

Thanks for writing on the Dell Community Forum.

Dell Vostro 3449 takes in charge only DDR3 low voltage (DDR3L1600MHz 1.35v). It is not compatible with the DDR3 memory. This system only has a memory location and supports a maximum memory of 8 GB.

The chipset on this system is Intel 9 Series Chipset PCH (PCH - LP 9 Series).

    Hello world!

I decided to upgrade my DELL Vostro 3700 with 4 GB of RAM up to 8. Is it feasible and technically possible to have 2 memory glue 4 GB each?

I read the manual, it is that I can use up to 4 GB in each slot. A year ago, I heard that DELL support does not recommend to have more than 2 GB in each slot. WHO KNOWS?

    Hi Pholiant,

Dell Vostro 3700 has 2 SODIMM slots. The system accepts a memory of 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB capacity. The type of memory accepted either DDR3 1066 MHz DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM only. The computer supports a maximum of 8 GB of memory when it is installed with two DIMMS to 4 GB.

    Dear,

I have a problem with my laptop (dell vostro 1510). For the second time my screen went completely black. I couldn't see anything, but the computer was not working. I assumed it was for the same reason as the first time (burnt video card). I have replace it with it and when I try to start the laptop I just get three led among that flashes on the left. It is not go further and I don't have access to the bios. The diagnostic led codes say it is a problem with the processor. How can I test if the processor work? For me, it's weird with the old motherboard, it began. I also tried to reset the CPU on a different time slot. I don't know what to try anymore.

  • Power supply Dell Vostro 220 questions

    Hello

We have a Dell Vostro 220, which has power problems.  He started intermittently but now it very rarely powers upward.

The green light in the back where the power cable goes in turns.

When I press the switch, it flashes orange once. Then the two fans start but stop after a second. Then they both start, less than a second. The power switch will Flash orange one more time. Then nothing. In the past, we could try once again and she would start, then it got worse and we need to repeat 10 or 20 times to make it work.  Now it seems that we could try all day and he would never start.

I opened it to the top. Disconnected and reconnected everything and try again - it worked fine. But the next day it turns on again.  So I opened, and even once and this time I changed the CMOS battery. I've start it 3 times now and it has worked well, and the user used for the rest of the day.

However, this morning, he refused to start up again. Same problem as before.

Is there anything else I could try?

    Thank you very much

    Peter.

  • freezing of Dell vostro 3700

I have a dell vostro that I bought with a bad hard drive. After replacing the hard drive and install windows 7 on it, it started to freeze on me after that I installed the graphics drivers from Nvidia.

I looked online and I thought it was an overheating issue. then I downloaded speedfan and the temperature was about 76-84

so I bought the new thermal paste and clean everything inside the laptop.

After completing the cleaning and put new thermal paste

the should fell to 50-70, it worked fine for about 1 hour, after he began to freeze up again.

then I uninstalled the Nvidia driver and the gel stopped.

I did a bios update and installed all the drivers up to date

I always have the same question.

the temperature is about 46, and it freezes.

When it freezes, I can't do anything. I can hear the fan speed,

There are no beeps or lights.

Thanks for the help guys I have set myself.

It turns out that one of the rams is bad.

After removing the bad memory stick live. The laptop had the same problem of freezing.

After that some research it turns out that computer supports DDR3 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz SODIMM DDR3

    Type of ram.

The bad stick was the original that I bought with which is DDR3 1333 MHz

And the problem was that the second stick DDR3 12800 MHz.

So after replace the two matched sticks of DDR3 1333 MHz he has worked for more than 5 hours without any problem. !

I already activated Windows (silly me to check everything actually works) and I need a solution as soon as POSSIBLE.

I needed Windows update to try and fix a number display adapter (card intel not giving not external display resolutions)- but that's another question.

I hope that there is a fix out there somewhere in the ether.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • DELL Vostro 2420

    Hello

I bought a Dell Vostro 2420 thanks to online and it was delivered with a week's time. I'm happy for that. Ontario performance isn't portable is good. Only problem is that the battery upward not yet changed for 3 hours. I'm really disappointed by this.

    BR/Mani

    Hi BR/Mani,

    Congratulations on your new computer.

Battery backup depends on the use of the computer.

Here are some factors that can affect the performance of the battery:

    • Processor speed - enabling features such as Intel or AMD Power Now speed stage! Extends battery life by automatically adjusting the processor speed to meet the requirements of the system. Generally, these features are enabled by default on computers that support the.
    • CD, DVD, CD - RW and hard drive access frequency - move files and programs directly on the hard disk, where possible, reduces the number of devices that need battery power. Add more memory can also help by reducing the need to use a swap file on the hard drive.
    • Programs - only programs that are necessary running reduced the demands on the system processor and memory. Programs that cause intensive use of the processor and drives (e.g. playing a DVD movie or 3D games) can more to halve the amount of time the computer can be used on battery.
    • The LCD Brightness - lower the brightness of the LCD screen reduces the amount of power required by the screen. To adjust the brightness of the screen, press on + to increase the brightness or + to reduce the brightness on the LCD display.
    • Backlit keyboard - disabling or halfing the brightness of your backlit keyboard can save battery power so that you are not using your computer. In general, to set the brightness of the backlit keyboard, press on + to browse the two settings of brightness and compensation.
    • Power management - set the computer to enter suspend or hibernate mode sleep to save battery when the computer is not in use.
    • Age of the battery - an average of life expectancy is 1 year. After this time, it is normal to experience a decrease in battery life.
    • Age/battery life is in no way shortened, when the laptop is connected directly to a power outlet (mains) and used continuously for an extended period of time. The reason is that the motherboard of the system automatically stops the flow of power to the battery, because soon, the battery is fully charged.

You can improve the performance of the battery by:

    • With the help of the computer when you are connected to an electrical outlet when possible. Battery life decreases with the number of times that the battery is discharged and recharged.
    • Configuring settings for power management using the Microsoft Windows Power Options to optimize the energy consumption of your computer (see power management).
    • Using the sleep power state when you leave the computer unattended for long periods of time.
    • The battery life decreases with time depending on how often the battery is used and the conditions in which it is used. You may need to purchase a new battery during the life of your computer.

I have a Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower, and the vehicle currently has Intel Pentium E6500 processor. I would like to move on to something better, because my current processor does not meet the minimum requirements of some games I want to play. I was wondering what processor I could update? So I have this old - ish Dell Vostro 430, intel cpu, windows 7 hard disk sata 250 GB, 4 GB of ram.

In certain exceptional circumstances, this PC sometimes crashes in windows, it is restarted, and then when he comes back it does not find the hard drive as a gift. He is not seen in the bios and does not start.

To fix, I have to unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds, plug in, reboot the computer and it starts normally, load windows and everything.

So far, I have tried to paginate on another hard disk, reinstall the Windows operating system from scratch, and same thing happens from time to time.

It is difficult to find the cause of the problem, because this happens very rarely.

Sometimes, when the pc is turned on for the first time in the morning, the hard drive is not found by the bios and we reappear at the same trick (disconnect the power cable) to take him back.

When it crashes when using inside Windows, it seems that the reason is the computer can't find the hard drive.

Such computer is out of warranty.

It would be nice to just throw this computer because it is still fine for the work it has to do, + I have Windows and Office OEM license on it, as well as many other software that I have to reinstall etc.etc.

No idea what I could troubleshoot?
