Questions about changing OS from Vista to XP on Satellite P100-160

Hello

I wonder if someone could help me... I don't like Windows Vista with a passion and I would much change for Windows XP.

My P100-160 provided with Windows Vista pre-installed, but until now I feel of it is poor to say the least! So I'd like to return the easy to use Windows XP.

Could you get it someone please let me know if there is something special I have to do in order to get XP to run properly. I've been reading through some of the questions on the forums on this topic, but want a nice simple step 1, step 2, etc. to ensure that I do the things first.

Thanks in advance for any assistance received.

Best regards

Yvonne

Hello

You need description step by step? Come on man :)

Do everything simply if you want to install the XP. During the installation of XP, you will need to format the HARD disk, partition to install XP on the laptop.
Then, after the installation of the OS, you could install the drivers of Toshiba which can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

Please note that you need XP compatible drivers! As far as I know that the Satellite P100-160 belongs to the PSPAAE series. So please choose this one if you download the drivers.

In addition, you will need to install drivers in the correct order. Placed on the Toshiba page installation instructions could be very useful!

Best regards

Goodbye ;)

  • Question about the update of value added for the Satellite P100-160 package

    Hello

I got an email off the coast of Toshiba today telling me there is a value added package update available (PVAT (v1.0.25).
I downloaded and unpacked. It contains three options:
2 don't buttons, button 6, no button but there is no readme etc to tell me which version is my P100-160.

I have added, trying to install one of them gives me an error that it has already installed older versions that should be deleted everything first.

Can someone advise please that I should use?
    Thank you!

    Hi guys

Value added package contains many different Toshiba and utility tools!
Satellite P100-160 belongs to the PSPAA series! So, you should always choose this series if you want to download the drivers from the Toshiba page!
This number can be checked on the bottom of the unit.

I visited the page of the Toshiba driver and checked the details.
You will find an info that this package installs a range of important public services.
-TOSHIBA components common Driver: this module is an essential component of Windows Vista. He will have to make the other original programming TOSHIBA works correctly.
-TOSHIBA Power Saver: The energy saver controls energy by opting for optimal power settings, if the machine is connected or battery-based knowledge and based on the remaining battery power.
-TOSHIBA utility: this program allows you to customize the settings of your hardware, depending on how you work with your computer and the devices you use. To start the utility, click the Start button and select Control Panel, and select Configuration HW TOSHIBA icon.
-TOSHIBA password utility: this utility allows you to set a password that restricts access to the computer.
-TOSHIBA Flash Cards: This utility provides the Hotkey function and the function of pitcher who starts the keyboard shortcut function and sends the other TOSHIBA utilities.
    -TOSHIBA PC Di

In my opinion, if you want to update the package of value added, you must remove all the tools of this and after new reboot you must install it again

  • Satellite P100-160: problems of Vista Outlook 2007 download mail from POP3 server

I am running Vista on a Satellite P100-160 and you just install Office 2007. Initially, Outlook work very well and then changed to send only messages but not get it back. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but no improvement. I know that the server settings are very well because I can run from another machine on the same home network and download the mail.

I also have Norton security on the computer and I wonder if somehow the Port used to download mail (110) may be blocked. Someone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to fix.

As a last resort I clean the entire disk and re-install from the product recovery disc and see what happens.

    Thanks for the info.

    Good bye

I would replace the internal hard drive to a larger size, but I don't know who is compatible.
Here is a link to dabs where they have 5 hard drives, but not sure if they will work.

Would be nice to get some tips on this thanks.
I have a Satellite P100-160 that currently has a 120 GB hard drive, it is not enough!

    Hello

I downloaded the user manual for this laptop from the Toshiba page and it says that you can use the 160 GB HARD drive.
I think that he n t be a problem to use a bigger like 200 HDD or 250 GB.

Sat P100 supports a SATA HDD controller and you should therefore use the HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

  • Satellite P100-160: I want a replacement for Vista to XP

I'm having so much trouble with vista which is preinstalled on my satellite p100-160. OK I was expecting a few driver problems and a few apps incompatible, but I wasn't expecting the DVD burner does not work properly and a crowd of vista questions like messaging windows refuses to delete e-mails.

I want a refund on Vista or better still for Toshiba provide a copy of XP replacement.

She can tell me who I need to contact Toshiba. Thank you

    Hi my friend

You're not alone and many other users installing WXP on laptops preinstalled Vista. Contact Toshiba won't help you at all. Don't waste your time and install your Windows on your laptop. On this forum, you can find some very interesting topics about installing Windows XP Home on Satellite P100.

If I remember well, only problem may be the use of external microphone connected to the mic port.

If you have more questions about the installation of Windows XP Home edition please write again.

  • Port replicator does not work with Satellite P100-160 & Vista

I just bought a Toshiba duplicator (part number: PX1173U-1PRP) but it does not work with the o/s Vista pre-installed on my P100-160. Can someone tell me where to find the Vista drivers for this device?

It seems that the standard driver is not compatible with Vista and so you will need a new from the Toshiba page.
You must remove the old driver and then install the new version.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P100-160 with Vista: No TV-OUT after downgrade to XP

Hi guys hope you can help me out here...

I recently bought a laptop (satellite p100-160) with Vista on it to know that it was not compatible with wot I bought dethrone so I decided to downgarde for XP Home Edition... Solange decommissioning that I had to install a few drivers like there's do and everything went well...

Anyway, a few weeks later (yesterday), I went to watch a movie and when I pluged in my tv out cable, I have nothing. I tried to unplug and plug in again a few times but still nothing, it normally switches on in about 20 seconds... So im guessing that either I need to a driver or a Summit.

Can someone help me out here?

    Thanks a lot

You n t need a special driver to use the s-video port.
You must install only the compatible graphics driver.

How have you tried to switch to the TV device?
Have you used the FN + F5 key combination?
    You should do this.

Connect the TV to the laptop using the s-video port. Then select the s-video on the TV and choose the right channel.
Press the FN + F5 several times until you get a picture on the TV.

Please note; Don t start the DVD software like DVD win until you have not enabled on TV!

  • Satellite P100 - 160 PSPAAE Vista: all my Toshiba Utilities stopped working

All of my Toshiba Utilities stopped working.
Message appears saying "* stopped working" windows is looking for a solution.

It was after that updates have been installed in the correct order as posted earlier in the forum. Not only the value added package configfree as well as PC diagnosis, etc.

    I have a Satellite P100 - 160 PSPAAE under Vista Home Premium.

Any ideas? I think that perhaps is McAfee Security Center has something to do with it.

    Hello

I suggest the following: recover your machine and update tools and drivers again. I don't know if McAfee is the cause of your problem, but if a system is broken on the software side, then, among the most popular and useful actions is to restore the system, and then being happy when it works again.

Would appreciate comments on your success.

    Welcome them

  • Question about changing from Vista to XP on Satellite A200

    Hello

5 months ago, I bought a laptop Satellite A200 - 1 M 5, but I face some strange and annoying inconsistencies such as blue screen after startup, inconsistencies with several programs or devices, unique discoveries registry keys, problem with microsoft register server, Mp telemetry and other inexplicable things that make you angry. In addition, Vista are so heavy for 'only' 1024 MB of memory.

For all the foregoing, I thought strongly to change my operating system from Vista to XP clearer and more coherent. However, I have no idea if the machine will cooperate very well with XP. Nothing will work properly? Incompatibility? Someone told me that, perhaps, the case of Toshiba flash cards will not work. But, if so, how can I manipulate for example brightness? Combination of FN will work?

Thanks in advance for the help

I think that your machine should work well with Windows XP Home edition. Many people use Windows XP Home edition on the mobile phones of Satellite or Equium A200 new and different. Before you start to do the BIOS update to the version of Windows XP designed home. It must be 5. XX. Check it out!

For the installation of WXP use CD Windows XP SP2 home edition installations. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

BTW: before you start checking some threads here about installation of WXP A200 laptop. You can find a lot of useful things.

    Bye and good luck!

  • question about change in the lightroom4

    Hello

I can get a photo of 4 Lightroom to photoshop elements 11 through the change, without any problem. But, when I do a backup of the file, it rejects it and wants me to "Save as" and choose a specific folder. He doesn't want then go back to Lightroom4 with changes that I made in the elements.

I don't know why he continues to save me so much that request?

I thought that change you from Lightroom4, hit except in the elements, then it should go back to lightroom4 with the changes and appear next to the original photo in lightroom.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

Works OK for me. You normally do the round trip from Lightroom as follows:

    (1) Ctrl + E in the library to export the image selected with the parameters (I choose PSD) development

    2) change in elements; then Ctrl + S to replace Lightroom export copy

    (3) Ctrl + W to close in elements and miniature Lightroom update.

  • Downgrade from Vista to XP on Satellite Pro P100

I have a client with a model of laptop Toshiba No. Satellite Pro P100-434.

He had a recurring problem, DVD playback that vibrates with the image and the sound is not always in line with the image. He referred twice to Toshiba and they told me that they had replaced the DVD drive. The fault was still there so he brought for me to watch.

I thought it is best to see if the Windows XP installation would cure the problem so installed an of my licenses. He tried for a few weeks and is now happy with our performance. Then I reinstalled Vista and checked for updated drivers. The problem is back as before.

Now, the customer wants to downgrade to Windows XP. I understand that it is possible, but have been unable to find out where I should apply for the XP product ID. My client feels terrible about the way it has so far been Treaty by Toshiba and who also believes he paid a Microsoft Windows license. He shouldn't have to pay for another. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Peter

I read your ad with a lot of attention and also hope that we can discus things.

At first, I must say that laptop must be Satellite P100-434 with PSPADE part number. If you want to check the DVD functionality test it with original recovery image. Achieve the clean OS install and test with the original DVD movie using pre-installed software. In my view, that it must be of WinDVD. Win DVD is used by Toshiba for a year, and this software works very well.

If there is a problem with the DVD drive, please clarify this with the authorized service partner. Please note: test the full functionality of DVD player.

Something about WXP: Toshiba supports Windows XP Home edition for this model of laptop and all the drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads. Before you start to install anything whatsoever from this page to the first a download? Instructionsa facilities? document and install all the stuff following this order of installations. It is very important.

Now something about the COMPUTER products and treatment of Toshiba: with the new notebook, you purchase a license for the operating system preinstalled. This does not mean that you have? specific? key and can activate all that you want. The alternative operating system to pay for the license. Each copy has own product ID. And don't forget, your customer has misunderstood something.

Treatment of customer is very interesting topic, but one thing I can say for sure: a lot of people hear things that they do not want to accept and is for the most part, the grounds for claims on a? bad treatmenta?. It is very important to clarify everything and avoid all the problems.

    Good luck!

  • Pascal boot from a DVD on my Satellite P100

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100. I want to boot on a DVD. When the computer starts, the screen goes from black to the Welcome to windows screen, and there is no message that indicates which key to press to access the boot menu. I tried to press F2 or F12, but if I do the screen remains black and that windows won't even start. F1 or F10 or del have no effect. ESC for 5 seconds, either.

A few weeks ago (I did not any changes in bios or anything like that, what I did is updated on windows), I had a white line that says press key (F12), but now this is not more. I don't even have the toshiba logo.

I flashed the BIOS with the latest update, with no result.

Edit: I have new intel: since the problem seems to come from the screen (some keys (F2, F12) 'work' in the sense it does something special, rather than just logging on to windows and this unusual thing they do is to make the screen stay black - as if the screen wasn't turned on yet, but the computer was waiting for a response from the user) I tried to connect my laptop to another screen. I have counfounded the vga cable ends and ends by connecting my laptop to a desktop instead of his screen. The result of this was rather strange: when my laptop is connected to a desktop computer, the laptop screen is lit normally, and I see the toshiba logo and the boot/bios menu shortcuts. Other that taking the power of the display, the connection had obviously no effect: I don't see the content of the desktop on my laptop, I just saw my laptop because I usually do, and it's because the vga port is usually intended to be connected to another screen and not to another computer.

So what do you think about this experience, which is certainly interesting, and you now see what could be my problem and so how to fix?

    Thank you.

PS: If you have more questions/details, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Hello John

To be honest, I wish I had your laptop in front of me and see exactly what is happening.
Is that this message be down occurs when the cell is on a regular basis down. If the laptop wakes mode sleep or hibernation, this message will not appear.

So I m pretty confused with all this and can not understand what is happening exactly.
When the operating system is loaded click please Windows Start button and choose the option closed and don't forget the laptop shut down correctly

After doing this book for beginning and check how it looks like new. Please post comments.

  • Satellite P100 - 160 PSPAAE: Question on the driver installation instructions

    Hello.

I recently bought a P100-160 model PSPAAE with Vista pre-installed. Like many others, I had no choice with the OS and my experience so far has left me wanting to go back to XP.

I found the page of appropriate support for the drivers (I guess I have to use the drivers for the PSPAA) and read the instruction sheet that comes with them. There are some questions I want answered before I start on this particular cliff.

The guidelines mention the SD card Format utility, but I see no mention of one in the list of drivers. It is included in one of the other drivers or is it not found elsewhere?

Why the Sun Java Runtime Environment is necessary?

I guess if my machine has no Bluetooth or Infra-red that I didn't need to load the drivers.

Thanks in advance if anyone is able to help.

    Kind regards

    John

Hi John, I recently went through the same process and after a few attempts, settled on the following as a reasonable XP installation (I don't need all that other stuff):

    Satellite Pro P100 (PSPAEA)

Chipset: Mobile Intel (r) 945 PM Express Chipset
    Memory controller: 82945 PM
    I/o Controller: Intel (r) 82801GBM i/o controller hub (ICH7M)

    What I installed...

    03 - display Driver
    04 chipset Driver
    05 - network - upgrade Ethernet driver
    06 - network wireless driver
    09 - sound Driver
10 - driver CardBus controller with UltraMedia
    12 - modem Driver
13 - modem region Select utility
    14 Bluetooth Stack
    15 - Bluetooth monitor
    17 Hotkey Utility
    21 - SD Secure Module
22 - SD memory card format
    28. DVD-RAM driver software
    33 user manual
TOSHIBA fingerprint digital-software (from Vista drivers)
    TOSHIBA-disk-Creater (from Vista drivers)

    What I do not installed...

01 - Microsoft Updates (I used Windows Update to do this)
    02. Sun Java Runtime Environment
    07. customer Intel utility
    08 Atheros Client Utility
    11 - touch pad Driver
    16 - C - infrared driver
    18 YPP/power button Utility
    19 utilities
    20 - buttons
    23 - assist
    24 - ConfigFree
    25 - zoom utility
    26 PC Diagnostic Tool
    27 CD/DVD Drive Acoustic Silencer
    29 WinDVD Creator
    30 - RecordNow
    31 DLA
    32 - DVD player

Note: for 05 - pilot network to install correctly, I had to upgrade the Device Manager ethernet controller.

The numbers relate to roughly the original installation instructions. I do not pretend that it's the perfect installation, only one who appears to be stable and suitable for my purposes...

With respect to the SD memory card Format driver, I found it somewhere, but I don't remember where (sorry). It has the following file name, even if once extracted (ToshibaSDMemoryCardFormat_v2100A.exe).

Hope this helps and please post your results as it is good to share their experiences.

    Regards, Rob

PS one of the biggest advantage I found was much better video support nVidia for Vista drivers were not very good and assured por.
