Questions about the product recovery DVD?

Hello

After a boot failure sunk with Windows XP Home Edition on my Equium A60-181, I had no choice but to use the product recovery DVD. I noticed there is something called expert mode, I suppose that allows you to create a custom default value of the factory Setup. So I was wondering, is it possible to format the hard drive in FAT32 instead of NTFS, create a partition for Linux and continue to use the product recovery DVD? In case you are wondering I want FAT32, so I can safely read and write my XP with Linux partition as NTFS writing is still experimental at the moment.

See you soon,.

Richard S.

Hello

Check out this link. You will find an info exactly how to recover with the Expert mode.

http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2513&TSTART=15

However, if you want to create a new FAT32 partition or another standard (Linux), I propose to use the magic of Partitions. This is a very nice program and you have a lot of options (change the size of the partitions, etc.)

Good bye

  • Ask about the product recovery process

    Hello Mr./Mrs

I'm about to start the recovery process of the product on my laptop, so I've read is that it formats all data on the hard drive. Is what it means if I have 2 hard drives (C & E drive) all on each of them will be erased or simply C drive only?

If both drives will be erased so where can I restore my data disc E to continue the process?
    Thank you for your support.
    Your Tony

    Hello Tony

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop do you have and how you want to perform the installation of recovery.

If you use F8 and drive HARD recovery (on the new laptop models) installing the C partition will be deleted only.
If you use the whole HARD drive recovery DVD will be erased and formatted.

You can not download the recovery DVDs. But you could ask local ASP or order directly from this place:

  • A few Questions about the manual recovery

    DB version: 11.2.0.3.0
    Platform: Oracle Linux 6.4

I'm not an expert in recovery.

We had a level of SAN cloning of a RAC database. We store online Redo logs in the diskgroup RL_DG and ARCH_DG diskgroup Archive redo logs.

After the plan of SAN cloning (EMC BCV Synch), we tried to start up of the DB using srvctl start database-d < MyDBName > and we got the following error message.

CRS-5017: the action "ora.msblprd.db start" resource has met the following error:
ORA-01113: file 4 should media recovery
    ORA-01110: data file 4: "+ MBL_DATA/msblprd/datafile/users.271.803502221".

We realized that a lot of data (not justs users.dbf) need recovery files. Thus, we tried to run to RECOVER the DATABASE. But it errored out. So, we ran to RECOVER database with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL ;  command.

Attempts above did not work because oracle was looking for the archived logs that was not present in ARCH_DG, RMAN has backed it up to the band and issued "delete entry".

But I have a few basic questions.

Question1. Why the command RECOVER DATABASE fail with ORA-01610?

Question2. RECOVER the DATABASE and recover database using BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL commands will look only archivelogs not redo logs online. Right? I understand that this database will try to retrieve media by the application online Redo Logs when the STARTUP OPEN command is issued. Right?

Question3. In the command RECOVER database using BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL that BACKUP CONTROLFILE, we refer to the?

Question4. What does AUTO option? in calls it "Specify log" as I have indicated above in red

Question1. Why the command RECOVER DATABASE fail with ORA-01610?

Oracle has detected that the controlfile was 'old' (for example had a low point control #) as the database.  If she recognized the controlfile as a BACKUP CONTROLFILE.  You make a full recovery, that can be done if the real current controlfile and redo log files are consistent and 'newer' database in a DATABASE files to RECOVER normal.

Question2. RECOVER the DATABASE and recover database using BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL commands will look only archivelogs not redo logs online. Right? I understand that this database will try to retrieve media by the application online Redo Logs when the STARTUP OPEN command is issued. Right?

N ° N ° (in the normal case) the RECOVERY DATABASE can automatically identify the online redo log file must be applied to make a full recovery.  In your case, Oracle has already tried an incomplete recovery.  It will have to be provided (or be able to AUTOMATICALLY generate) the archivelog file names.  Apply of Redo Log files online only happens to a recovery of Instance - a START after a crash or abort.  Your case is a Media Recovery (again because of the backup control file).

Question3. In the command RECOVER database using BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL that BACKUP CONTROLFILE, we refer to the?

The controlfile you have on the disk is 'old' - it is recognized as a backup controlfile.

Question4. What does AUTO option? in calls it "Specify log" as I have indicated above in red

(in the normal case) Oracle can generate the name of the 'next' archivelog file based on the last archivelog applied and the log_archive_dest log_archive_format and.  Given that you had not applied all archivelog and yet, he would not be able to generate the next archivelog expected - this happens also in the RAC recovery where it can generate automatically the archivelog next to (for example) wire #1 file name because the archivelog to thread #1 has been applied, but can still generate automatically for wire #2 until an archivelog was applied.

You will also notice the inadequacy of sever between the online redo log header and the newspaper WAITED

    > archived log contains sequence 16107. 16085 sequence required

This means that the data files is much older than the online redo log. Given that your ad doesn't show 22 redo log groups, it is likely that the snapshot log redo DG and DG database files don't match no - the second is much older than the first.  You need an archivelog to apply, not the online redo log.

Your query on V$ LOG and V$ LOGFILE should always optimasation THREAD # (when CAR is running) and SEQUENCE # (each Thread has it's own sequence)

You can also view your alerts log. This could indicate that Oracle was trying to recover the datafiles Fuzzy - what would happen if your snapshot was taken without the database in BACKUP mode.

Talk to EMC and Oracle support for the good tips on how to make a snapshot backup of an Oracle database.  Otherwise, you'll be toast when you need to perform a recovery of real Production database.  I suspect that your DGs and EMC volume is not configured properly to create synchronized instant backups.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - 13 X: Question on the product recovery disks

I recently bought a laptop Satellite Pro A300 - 13 X with Vista Business installed.
It came with two product recovery discs to install XP Professional.

Given that I decided just to use XP, I followed the procedure for recovery of product and I am now running XP from the first disc. It seems to work correctly.

I'm unable to install the second disc and I wonder where it is. It contains 7 application files 001-002-003-004 crc and tpa.

Anyone know what to do with this drive?

Don't know what this disc contains or how to install it, but check if everything works and if all programs and utilities are installed, which you had Windows Vista.

  • Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features

I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.

    (1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?

    (2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?

    (3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?

    (4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?

    (5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?

    Hello

    I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
    2 - Yes.
    3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
    5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created.

In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

  • Recently bought a laptop computer; A few questions about the offer Upgrade to Windows 8

I have a few questions about the Upgrade of Windows 8 offer for new computers.  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5268 of amazon.com, which came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Toshiba already has a beta version of drivers and utilities for Windows 8 for the S855 on their Web site.

    (1) I bought my laptop in July of this year, and I've not yet registered for 8 Windows Upgrade offer with Microsoft.  Am I still eligible to receive the upgrade, if I sign up soon?
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?
    (3) if I will be able to burn the installation media, I'll be able to erase my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 8 (which I'd rather do, I have a lot of backups of my data).  I am aware that I would probably need to provide my product key Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM during the new installation, because it is an upgrade and not a full version; This isn't a big deal, because my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM product key is stuck at the bottom of my laptop.
    (4) my current copy of Windows 7 is activated by seeing my BIOS (I have a traditional BIOS, not a UEFI).  If I had to switch to Windows 8 and decide then I'd rather back in Windows 7, for example, a few months later, I'll be able to do that (I burned recovery of Windows 7 with the Toshiba utility disks, which I did), and Windows 7 will continue to activate by seeing my BIOS, even after the installation (and later remove) Windows 8?

Yes, the registration period is between June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013.
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

Yes, the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 will allow you to create a bootable DVD or you can grab the ESD file and save it.

Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

As long as you have a recovery disk which you should create or use the construction in the recovery partition, Yes, it will self activate.

OK guys, I'm about to return my lease (Toshiba Tecra S1); because the video card is 'us' and I would like to reformat the drive and return the system to its original state by using the "product recovery cd-rom provided Toshiba."

My problem is that the video card is on the right track and using windows is a challenge quite like its like watching a patchwork blanket. So, when you try to use the recovery of product cd-rom, I can just not read the screen "its comparable to the matrix.

    Hello Robsta

Believe you did not need the step by step tutorials or shoots screen. The recovery procedure is very simply.

Put the recovery CD in the CD/DVD drive
Turn on the laptop and keep C button for a few seconds
Follow the menu on the screen
Choose option 1 for installation in Standard mode and just follow what is happening on the screen

    Hello

Here, a few questions about the number:

    (1) usually, you should get the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD. If you didn t receive this DVD then you can order it here https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you could install the disc of Microsoft Vista.

    (2) of course, you can do this. I think that Win XP drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

    (3) Yes, you can upgrade the RAM. For more information, see your manual or search on this forum for similar topics

    (4) maybe it s associated with the graphics driver. Check if you can update. I would recommend additional check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS

    Welcome them

  • Questions about the implementation of clusters of storage and DTS on active cluster

I have a few questions about the implementation of clusters of data store and SRS storage in VSphere 5.1.

We have a data center with about 15 HP blades and a few servers non-lame.  The hosts are all either VSphere 5.0 or 5.1.  Our back-end storage is an EMC VNX 5700 with about 20 stores of data.  All the VMWare is managed by VCenter 5.1 running on a dedicated physical machine.

Currently, each data store is used individually; No piles of data store are put in place.  When a new virtual machine is created, the administrator usually chooses the data with the most space store.  Periodically, we will go back and manually storage vMotion machines to balance the load.

Recently, we have expanded the VNX storage, so we now have LUNS in different pools, with different levels of performance.

What I would do is set up for the data store clusters, so that us when a virtual machine is created, the administrator must not know what data store is in which pool.  Also take advantage of the DRS storage so that the burden of storage will be "refine" himself a little.

I know the setting up of a cluster of storage in a 'clean' environment is quite simple, but my concern is creation/conversion data warehouses existing in active production in the cluster, while they are used.

If I access the screen "data warehouses and store data from clusters ', right-click on the data center and create a cluster, and then move the various data stores in the new cluster, will there be an interruption in the production running systems?

I also wonder about activation of storage i/o control.  It is not currently enabled on data warehouses.  I know it's useful for the StorageDRS, but will be allowing any negative impact on the system?  If I turn on the warehouses of data, is there anything else I should do or set in addition to all that allows him?

Finally, we are in the process of Site Recovery Manager configuration.  SRS has an impact on the configuration of the data clusters and DTS store?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Gregg Robertson wrote:

    Hello

Clusters of data and using DTS store doesn't impact RS even if you create a cluster of data store for storage of replicated data and another for everyone else, this way you machines virtual you want to replicate are not moved on warehouses of data that are not replicated , but will still have the ability to move if there is a conflict.

    Gregg

With all due respect but SRM and DTS don't go together. SRM does not at all support the use of DTS. So if you are configuring SRM forget DTS for now.

Reason for this is that SRM knows no DTS and VMs can be in flight when a failover should occur, and bad things can happen. Also, the protection breaks when a virtual computer is moved between data warehouses in a cluster data store.

    In short: don't go there.

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Could not load the product recovery disc

Desperately need to use the product recovery disc but the disc will not load. My computer recognizes the drive but says "this disk or device contained more than one type of content, want you want windows to do" and then gives me the option to open with real player, Media Player, print, slide show or nothing. Why usually just charge it?

I need the product to work recovery disk I my laptop turns itself of every minute or so. I get a blue screen that is visible for a split second, and then it restarts.

I restored the system to a previous point, but nothing helped. My only option is to use the system restore.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

I'm not sure if I understand you doubt correct but must boot from the Toshiba recovery disc. I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive to start. After that, follow the instructions on the screen.
    Check this box!

If it doesn't work you should try to clean the lens of the drive. Therefore, you can use a microfibre cloth.
