Questions on on Satellite A300 HARD drive partitions
Hello
I would like to install a new OS (new operating system: Windows 7, old OS: Vista Edition Home Premium) on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300-237) to repartition the whole HARD drive. I see a non-standard partition, its size is of ~ 1 GB, can I delete this partition?
What information contains this partition?
I did the recovery previously by Toshiba HDD Recovery disks. Guess when I delete any partition and put in place and installation of the discs, will recover the initial state (including the hidden partition)?
Thank you
If you want to install your own Win7 version delete all existing partitions and then create a C partition for the installation of the OS.
I guess you write over WinRE partition and it is about 1.5 GB.
I installed Win7 ultimate 32 bit on my Satellite A300 and it works perfectly.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 let me know.

Question about the recovery of HARD drive partition
Hello
I have 2 partitions: C: and d:
I wanted to save video data on D: and was surprised to find some hdd files and folders reverie about it
Yet, I have a small partition hidden and thought that waas of hard drive recovery.
What do you think of this? Can I delete these files on D:?
When restart us the computer after pressed F8, is associated with the files to D: or hidden partition recovery option. Thanks in advance

Hello
I'll try to provide answers.
> I wanted to record video data on D: and was surprised to find some hdd files and folders reverie about it.
The same situation is on all laptops come with HARD drive recovery image. Recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery. It is recommended to create recovery DVDs using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. When the recovery DVD is created, you can delete these files and use of recovery DVDs for the operating system installation.
Otherwise the partitions are large enough, and you should leave this file here. Just define it as hidden and you won't.
> Again, I have a small partition hidden and thought that hard drive recovery waas on that.
This small partition has nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery image. Recovery image Toshiba is large enough and cannot be saved on small partition.
> When restart us computer after pressing F8, is associated with the files to D: or hidden partition recovery option.
They are related to the folder HDDRecovery and recovery stored image. When you delete drive recovery option HARD is no longer available. -
Satellite A300 - hard drive connectors
Hello
someone know if the connectors of HDD for the A300 are SATA or not, must pick up a new HDD before driving to bush to fix and noone out there can tell me what kind it is.
Thanks in advance,
All new laptops, including your laptop use hard drives with the SATA connectors.
You can check it yourself.
Simply remove the HARD drive and take PC store and ask a new. Your dealer will help you choose the right one. -

Hello Lodnar
I really don't know what you read here. Or contact your local dealer or more close authorized service provider and clarify this point. Any type of discussion here doesn't help much. Don't waste your time and to clarify this point as soon as possible.

question about a new external hard drive partitioning
I just bought a TB G-Technology G 4 USB 3.0 drive to replace my old Lacie which is way to small. It has served me well.
I Google search on the net and research here in the discussions, I should create partitions, and if so, how, a few observations are in each article thread or by email. A reason to partition (actually more than one partition) is so we can have a section for our time Machine backups, and for a section where we want to save our data backup and one for our user data? I have not seen a clear statement on what might be the 'data', or what might be the 'user data '. And if the time machine is backed up, is it NOT back up my data files?
In order to unravel how the partitions I should create in my 4 TB Ex HD, can someone help me better understand what I should and should not save in time machine? And if I choose to NOT include it in my Time Machine backup, why would I use a partition do it to, in order to save manually? I do not pretend that it sounds stupid, I'm not clear on what 'it' is and what info I use to make the best decision for my use.
Thanks a lot for any wisdom you could share with me.
Michelle
Have a Time Machine backup partition on the same drive as your data is a stupid backup plan. Since the main cause of data loss is disk failure to have the backup on the same disk as the means of data when the wrong road, you lose everything.
At Time Machine backup. You never know what data you will lose.
I suggest that you give up your plan to make the Time Machine backups on the same drive as the data. You need another player for that.

Satellite P750 PSAY1A: how to create the recovery Toshiba on the new HARD drive partition
Hello
I have an old Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022). I just upgraded my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and am preparing to take my 500 GB HARD drive 1 TB. I had to order the disk online and wait to happen.
I always try to understand how to create the arrival of my new HARD drive Toshiba Recovery Partition. I do the same thing for an old book, I handled based on something similar to it's original factory State.
I have reflected on the recovery partition, but does not know how it was created. It is not NTFS. Does anyone have experience in the creation of a Toshiba Recovery on a new HARD drive Partition?
And the help is very appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
DineshRecovery partition can be created when you use the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install recovery image. Before the partitions to boot OS install will be automatically created, recovery image copied on a recovery and then partition as last step recovery image installation starts.
A sort of migration of files from one to the other HARD disk is not solution.
Only for laptop with factory will work and the usable recovery partition.

Satellite L670 - change of HARD drive partitions
I just brought a new toshiba laptop Satellite L670.
I just watched the player and its distribution, but they put the 139g on the d drive,
Is there anyway I can change this?Hello
How do you change it?
I put t recommend that before you didn't create a Toshiba Recovery disk!
You must create this disk to reinstall the OS again in case something goes wrong with the HARD drive partitionsIn General, you can change the size of partitions in Windows 7 disk management.

Satellite 1710CDS - HARD drive replacement
Hello
I have a question about the portable satellite 1710CDS.
A week ago my hard drive of the laptop above broke down.
Fdisk and partition magic are not able to detect the HARD drive.
My first question is where is the HARD drive located?
It is under the keyboard, as you can see by some other Toshiba laptops?
And is there anyone who knows what capacity hard drive to this cell phone is supported?I hope someone knows the answer to my questions?
Jeroen cordially
Hello Jeroen
To swap the drive HARD on this laptop is not easy. Sounds stupid, but the unit must be dismantled completely. You need to remove the keyboard and on the left side, there is cable that connects the HARD drive with main card. To remove the HARD drive the upper eyelid must be separated from the bottom. It is not a simple procedure, and if you do it yourself, you should be very careful.
As far as I know this device supports up to 10 GB HARD disk.
Good bye

How can I make a DVD of the restore hidden in my external hard drive partition recovery
How can I make a DVD of the restore hidden in my external hard drive partition recovery because I want to recover my toshiba satellite L840 that does not respond directly to my hard drive so I put my laptop to an external HARD drive and then I want to copy a DVD recovery partition
Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.
With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.
Otherwise, you can contact Toshiba, and with the model of the product id number and the laptop for Windows, you can buy a set of disks.

How to copy the recovery on the new HARD drive partition, HARD drive failed?
Hallo,
I have a Compaq Mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter.
The HARD drive has failed and it is not repairable. However, it seems that the recovery partition is OK.
I want to buy a new HARD drive, install the driver on the netbook, and then use the tools/recovery partition to install windows 7 on a new PC.
So, the question is simple: how to copy the recovery for the new HARD drive partition?
Hello s91066.
If your hard drive of your laptop doesn't have? If this is the case, what do you mean by the "recovery partition is ok? I doubt that this laptop has two hard disks, so if you are able to see this partition of your hard drive may still work.
You will need a set of recovery disks to restore the partitions on the new drive. If you can start Windows, which you can probably not with a dead hard drive, you can follow these steps if you can get into Windows.
If you are unable to boot into Windows, you need a set of disks. You can order it directly from HP. The number of the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836. If you are in another domain, you must visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your region.
I hope that is useful; have a great weekend!

Of course, it does.
Select the drive:

Click on the Add [+] button once for each partition that you want to add. You can set the size using the size field.
Before you start to complain about something, it would be wise to get your facts straight.

Question about hard drive partitions - Satellite L450
I just got a new Satellite L450 with a 250 GB hard drive. I moved my media on it and quickly received a warning from the Toshiba Bulletin board that my hard drive was achieved at full capacity. When I look at 'My computer', it shows 2 hard drives, WINDOWS (C :) and DATA(D:).) I guess it's one thing to install because there is only one hard drive.
C and D drives are around 120 GB but WINDOWS is 75% sold out. How to use drive D and avoid the warning on the capacity of the drive?
Can I change the capactiy for C and D allowances? In my opinion, you should simply ignore this message. In Windows Explorer, you can clearly see how much free space is available on each partition. So I think t for the partitions and data administration you n t need to monitoring applications.
This partitions C and D is the standard setting for the new Toshiba laptops.
In disk management you can change the ability of the partitions but I n t think this is the best solution for you because the two partitions are filled with data. -
Question about hard drive Partitions
My Satellite C650 bought recently has two equal size partitions - C (called Windows) and D (known as data). However, my "Users" folder and so all my data is stored on the C drive (with all programs) while the D drive and has only the HDD Recovery inside folder. This means that I have access to half of my total disk space.
How to move my file 'Users' the D drive - and if I do - it somehow it is interfering with the HARD drive folder?
This can be as simple as move the users folder - but I'm not sure if the installation of 'Libraries' or all Office programs will always seek on the C drive for data.I would like some advice before as I did try.
>... While the D drive has only the HDD Recovery inside folder. This means that I have access to half of my total disk space.
That s not the truth. You can use the free space on the second partition. HDDrecovery is just a folder where recovery image is saved. You can enter the folder properties and set it as invisible and you will see it.This recovery is important for two things:
-for the creation of recovery DVDs
-for HARD drive recovery procedure.Generally speaking, if you have created recovery DVD (highly recommended) you can delete this folder, but after doing this, you will not be able to create recovery DVDs or of the installation of recovery disk (F8 at startup).
You have to understand how it works?
If you have any other questions please let me know. -
Satellite A215-S4757 blue screen & startup failure after HARD drive partitioning
I just bought a Satellite A215-S4757 a week ago & I tried to divide my hard drive coz, I was only one partion (250 GB) using acronis disk director.
After that I got the blue screen and now I failed to start and I tried all the options to repair my windows or load in SafeMode to no avail coz it crashes just from the window of microsoft corporation.
I tried to reinstall windows vista with the cd but still does not!
pls someone helo me :(Hello
Creator of disc of Acronis does not for me but I know for sure that you can split the capacity of the HARD drive into two partitions with rendering recovery DVDs. Start your laptop with recovery DVDs and check the option to install it.
You must have a mobile US model. I am from Europe and I don't know about you how it works with the recovery media in the United States, but it should be similar to the European and because of that it must be an option to divide the capacity of the HARD disk with two partitions.
Please try again. It should work somehow.
