  One of the evangelists 'Developer' RIM working outside South Africa, I think, so there should be someone local you can talk too.  If you message Mark Sohm (the RIM name you will see a lot on the forum - MSohm), with your e-mail address and it ask to put you in contact with the Developer Evangelist in SA, which should help.  You can tell Mark to ask me if he needs clarification.  Do not promise anything either but I hope that something will happen.

  It really depends on your needs. If you're simply a designer it will probably very well work for you. If you have to do something custom or access code, then no, it won't go "end to end".

  I have developed a few games with flash and wanted to try my hand at a few mobile apps. Most of my games are point and clicks and since I already know AS3, AIR appears to be a very good option.

  I asked about Android - I intend to targeting first - and it appears that a major drawback is that many AIR apps woud require additional software on older phones and that the required software is a bit a space hog.

  What are the disadvantages for development for iphone? IOS requires special software to play AIR apps? They work particularly slow on the iphone?

  (1) the most recent version of air is only compatitble with ipod 3/4 generation and iphone 3GS and iphone 4

  (2) as with android, you do have access to all the features of the phone like tongues (contact lists, push notifications, etc.)

  (3) air for IOS is still a fairly new technology, so there is / will be bugs and problems you will encounter

  (4) a lot more care needs to take for optimization that you would normally do on a desktop application

  (5) the size of each IOS app is minimum 4 MB because the duration of air is conditioned with each app.  This allows ios not its users install air runtime separately as android, but it also means for much larger applications according to your original size

  That being said, I am relatively satisfied with the speed that updates / changes are coming.  IMO, with a few other settings and optimizations, air will be really able to compete with the mother tongues for some projects.

  We have an internal application made in forms and reports. As today product of strategic importance for the future development of Oracle's ADF. If we intend to migrate the application internal even on ADF. We have 2 options:
  
  1. we should start developing the application from scratch in ADF? Or
  2. we should be using Jheadstart to migrate to the ADF, but then also re - write the features of PL/SQL.

  I think you need to read this article (again)
  The key is what makes a 'good' Forms application is still not a 'good' Apex, ADF, Java, .net, or whatever application (and vice versa). So if you want to do things good sense in your new technology so you think redesign to make the most of this technology.

  What you choose technology depends on many factors - your skills of developers, architects, clients, type of application template, business goals... I don't think someone can answer that but you or your team who know it.
