Quit - hl dt st dvdram gsa-t50f CD player

my cd/dvd has stopped working - hl dt st dvdram gsa-t50f - tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it failed and gave me no error message.  When I try to disable or update the drivers, it acts like it worked, but the drive still does not work. Help!

AREV-

Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

  • HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA - T40N ATA Device works like a CD player. It is supposed to be a DVD player?

    Hello

First of all, I would like to thank you in advance for your help.

I had the problem of my HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GSA - T40N ATA Device not reading anything into the drive and removed the filters. It is still not working properly, and it's the rare occasions when he did (after hitting enough lol) and I needed it to work again. I disabled the device and rebooted before her reactivation. Although it works now it has unfortunately fizzled. It is now only installed as a CD player and it used to be a DVD player. Before it stopped working TI played DVD 100% fine as well so it should be good.

    Hello HCarmenates,

Have you tried to uninstall the dvd via the Device Manager drive then restart PC to see if Windows reinstalls? You can do it. If the problem is still there, can give a try? It is a quick easy fix from Microsoft, here is the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060. You need to uninstall all third-party software (example: Roxio, Nero, or iTunes) from your computer before you make this correction. After you restart, you can reinstall your software and try again to see if that solves your problem. Otherwise, it could be a bad optical drive. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

    Hello

I oddly found the solution to my problem while browsing through the suggestions of SpritX at the following link: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/771598.htm

Here is the solution I implemented and now my drive works perfectly:

    RESOLUTION
Warning serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using the registry editor or by using another method. These problems may require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Be careful it can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must ensure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the default data value is the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and the class data value is CDROM.
    3. in the right pane, click UpperFilters, and then click on remove.
    4. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry.
    5. in the right pane, click LowerFilters, and then click on remove.
    6. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry.
    7. exit the registry editor and then restart the computer.
Note When you delete the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall all of the programs involved. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor to determine if an update is available for the program.

For information about how to contact computer software vendors, click the number in the following list to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H30L CD player does not open.

    Hello

My CDDrive (HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H30L) has decided to stop working. I mean, when I press the button to open the CD drawer, the headlamp turns on, flashes a few times and then goes. The drawer won't open never and I do not hear sounds fron the CD player. Even if a CD is in the tray and the tray is closed, the CDDrive does nothing.

    Visually, the material seems well:

Are no CD in the tray, the tray is not crowded and nothing seems broken.

I was able to manually open the tray while it had not been authorised by using a paper clip in the hole of the front PIN.

Power connections and motherboard work (the operating system detects the device and the cables work fine).

I can turn on/off the device (which does not have an effect - the fire before CDDrive puts always when I press the Open button).

I uninstalled and reinstalled the default driver of Microsoft version (21 January 06) 6.3.9600.16384.

I tried to install the driver hp hower, this is not supported for windows 8.1.

I noticed a red light coming from inside of the CDDrive. Maybe it's a sign that something is wrong?

    History:

The CDDrive has worked well for most of his life. While it worked, he could read CD / DVD etc., no problem.

The CDDrive began its life in my HP Desktop detail (a model ~ 7 years) and stayed there for most of his life. Since he was still working, I decided to bring it to a new computer, I built. For the month or two, I am using this new computer, the CDDrive worked very well. He has only stoped working today for reasons that I can't say.

If anyone has any ideas on how to bring back to life, or they could use more information, please answer.

    Thank you

I see comments on other issues on a DVD player using Windows 8.  Unknown reasons cause a disk working properly to stop smoking.  The firmware probably did not run due to the Windows 8 operating system.  Given that DVD burners are so cheap now, why not try a new? Examples:
