    Hello

I'm ready to upgrade my R60 with a new SSD. I would change the CPU too. I have a R60 9456-6ZG T2300 and now 3 GB of ram.

T7200 is fully compliant? Do I need a bios update (I've never updated the bios since 2006 when I bought the laptop)?

On the LCD, I would change to a higher resolution, but I have graphics card intel onboard not discreet; did this graphic chipset capable of handling an another LCD SVGA + or QVGA?

    Thank you very much

    Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can upgrade to the T7200, but you will need a recent BIOS to do so.

Intel graphics card will lead SXGA + (1400 x 1050) or UXGA (1600 x 1200) LCD with no problems.

    Happy update.

  • R60 hard drive interface

    Hello

I would like to buy Solid State Drive and Ultrabay Slim adapter for my ThinkPad R60 (9456-HTG) then install SSD as internal hard drive, while my original hard drive would be in housing ultrabay (internal SSD for the system and hard drive in the ultrabay for use from time to time slot). However, I doubt what kind of SSD should I buy? I mean what kind of interface? In other words, what hard disk interface is compatible with TP R60? Serial - ATA (SATA/150) I or Paralel ATA? According to the information on the Lenovo Web page it is SATA (which probably means SATA I). According to the information on the original web page of the manufacturer of the hard drive, it could be SATA I (SATA/150) or Ultra ATA/133 as it is written to the standard ATA/ATAPI-7. According to Ultrabay Slim adapterinformation, which must be compatible with my laptop, the Web ThinkWiki page: 'the map contains a PATA to SATA bridge piece, which means that the drive is SATA, it connects as a PATA (IDE) device', then perhaps also the internal drive has PATA-133 Interface? So, to make the story short, what type of interface is used for a hard drive in TP R60? Anyone know the final answer?

    Concerning

    Eryk

The system hard drive is SATA. Optical drive [which you intend to replace the Ultrabay adapter] is PATA/IDE.

    Lecter says:

'The map contains a PATA to SATA bridge piece, which means that the drive is SATA, it connects as a device PATA (IDE)'

This means that the adapter Ultrabay [for use a second hard drive] must convert the SATA hard drive [old drive system hard] for use with the PATA/IDE controller. Where the word "adapter".

  • Very poor performance X121e

    Hello

    I purchased and received yesterday new X121e 3051 - 62G with pre-installed Windows 7 system. Previously I X201i 3323 - BTG and R60 9456-HTG.

Problem with my new started just after the 1st installation restart.

    Here are the symptoms:

Boot Windows takes about 7-10 minutes. All the features in the graphics are slow. When you use a program, others will in the State do not respond. The CPU usage is the Task Manager only 20 to 30%. Hard drive makes noise constantly.

    And what I've done:

Switched on and off antivirus, update the bios. Updated all the drivers with the ThinVantage system update, deleted all unnecessary Windows Services (indexing, etc.), deleted programs, Run check disk and Defrag, automatic distribution for auto swap Changed and conversely, performance Run Windows troubleshoot.

This machine had to leave just for Windows because it was used by my wife. But today, I finally installed 12.1 Opensuse dualboot and there is no performance problem, everything works fine.

So more or less it maybe associated Windows? Unfortunately I have not used for years although some basic stuff has the feeling of being lost.

Any tips? How does this problem sound to you?

Should what records I get for this?

    Thank you, rns

I got from France new set of recovery disks. Now, there is no performance complaints, no noise hard drive at all. These recovery disk does not have auxiliary programs of Lenovo at all which is a good thing. Programs are always judged in C:/SWTOOLS and I can install those who are only wanted. So the preinstalled contents of the hard drive has been altered, problem solved.

  • -The blue ThinkVantage button new

I had to change the hard drive on my ThinkPad R60 9456 - HTG on a stay in France, the old man said all of a sudden there's an error 0000. Probably a physical damage in the Windows domain.  A local expert helped me with a Danish new Windows XP and reinstalled which is necessary to get a proper job. I saved all my documents and still have the old haddisk as an external hard drive with programs, documents, etc. But the blue ThinkVantage button does not work after the start-up and full operation. I have downloaded rescue and recovery 4 and everything there's ThinkPad and ThinkVantage Technologies programs. The blue functions ok button before starting to open R & r exactly where is the original messages and programs behind the hidden blue ThinkVantage button? I don't think it helps to use R & R to restore the system, because I don't have a God an old system to restore. Would it be useful just to cut and paste the old card R & R from your old hard drive to the new hard drive or the whole Levono or ThinkPad cards?  System update does not either, but I understand is something we will have to wait until May 31. Of course I can't live without the blue button, but it just annoys me that it does not work.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows a solution simple faily. Here on a hill in French I don't want to take too many risks.

    Best wishes

    John

Problem solved. I downloaded, but does not have the ThinkVantage Productivity Center correctly.

  • Update CPU R60

Hello world. The situation: I have a T7700 CPU of my T61p which was replaced by a T9300. However, I would put the T7700 inside my wife R60. The R60 is a 9456 HTG and is running with a T5500. The question: this upgrade would work? I don't know if the motherboard (42w2578 - according to the Guide to equipment maintenance). Installed BIOS is 2.23. See you soon,.

    Laughing out loud

T7700 is not compatible with the R60. You would need a T7200/7400/7600.

  • extensible wireless LAN

can someone tell me what is needed for a wireless to the high-grade as it says on my lap top wireless lan upgradeable, ilink (ieee 1394) have'nt an idea what it means and tried to read the manual but I just more confused
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

    Hello

I think you're a little confused... IEEE 1394 doesn't have to do with wireless.

Take a look at this description that I took on the Net:

«A very fast external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of up to 400Mbps (in 1394) and 800Mbps (in 1394 b).» Products supporting the 1394 standard go under different names, according to the company. Apple, which originally developed the technology, uses the brand name FireWire. Other companies use other names, such as i.link and Lynx to describe their 1394 products. »

"Its scalable architecture and makes them flexible-to-peer topology, IEEE 1394 ideal to connect devices ranging from hard drives and printers digital audio and video equipment time real treatment requirements for multimedia on time."

So, I think you should ask Toshiba support on the meaning that they really with this 'extensible wireless LAN.

Furthermore, what is the model of your laptop?

    Kind regards

  • Is my processor for my HP Probook s 4720 extensible?

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I was wondering if the extensible processor for my HP Probook s 4720. I obviously will not do it myself, but if I had to take it to a store or something that I would be able to buy a better processor to put inside my laptop?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://bizsupport1.Austin.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c02046514/c02046514.PDF

Please refer to Chapter 1 page 1 for the list of supported processors.

Since you don't mention what processor you have in your laptop, I leave to you to decide whether or not is of value in upgrading to the maximum supported processor (i7 - 620 M).

You can expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars or more to have a shop change the processor for you.

  • Environment support UEFI HP or environment Support HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)

You have a question. I have a laptop HP 2000-2b19wm. I bought this system. It came with Windows 8. After I got it I have completely got rid of Windows 8 and IMHO set level to Windows 7 Ultimate. I deleted all partitions and let 7 configure the hard disk the way he wanted, got the drivers and so on and so forth. (not worried about security, I can handel most hardware repairs and software patches).

I looked to see if there was a new BIOS available and there was, however, I also noticed that there are two things called environment support UEFI HP and HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support environment. I know they have to with the Diagnostics and recovery of a bad BIOS flash.

The question is this. Install HP UEFI Support Environment or environment Support HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)?

    Thank you.

    Hi @bfldworker ,

    Thank you for your query.

UEFI is preinstalled on your laptop.  It does not reside on the hard drive, so when you have formatted and installed Windows 7, it should not affect it.

  • Satellite A100-599 card to nVidia 8 series extensible GFX?

    Hello

Is the last Satellite A100 - 599 extensible GFX NVIDIA 8 series card?
If not, what could be done for my laptop, if I need to upgrade?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

    No, this is not possible.
Laptop technology is different from the technology of desktop PC and therefore updates such as CPU or GPU are not easy or not possible.

Especially the GPU (graphics chip) is soldered on the motherboard and the branch as a whole must be replaced if the chip of damages for example.

If you n t want to miss the graphic performance, either you are going to buy a new laptop (desktop PC) with a stronger graphics card or you will switch to an external graphics card.
But in my opinion this is no logic to use an external graphics card.

  • Start-up of Thinkpad R60 problems

I had turned on my Thinkpad R60 morning to check certain emails and left for work. When I got home, the laptop screen was black, and I assumed that it had frozen on the screen saver. However, when I tried to restart the computer, the computer starts to turn on and then let a series of 4 beeps, one per second all the same length. The screen is still the same ordinary black color. If someone can tell me what to do about this problem I would be very happy. Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum!

I hope that your ThinkPad is still under warranty, because she needs a new card system based on HMM, due to the failure of security chip.

    Good luck.

  • ProBook 6570b - are the CPU & GPU extensible?

Hi, I bought a refurbished Probook 6570b running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. It seems it does not come with the cpu core but rather a celeron B840 1.9 GHz, not more, it has a discrete graphics unit.

Hi, I have a nice ThinkPad R60, was working fine and now it will not connect to Wifi.

Thanks guys for your help, I'm please to report that it is fixed!

I corrected by accessing the Lenovo Web site to download the driver. As part of the instructions to download the driver, I had to make sure I had a certain versino of Thinkpad Access Connections - I do not have.
