R6300 Bridge Mode Wifi settings

I have the settings wireless on my main R6300 router to be awakened at midnight every night. I plan on setting up my second R6300 in Bridge mode in another room connected via Lan to Lan. These are the two routers in R6300 version 1.

I'm sure I know the answer but want to make sure... I want the wireless signal to be awakened at midnight on my second router also.

My question is, do I have to do it manually in the settings of the router second or second router just an extension of the first, so turn off the signal at midnight wireless also?

HaHa. My bad.

Yes, I will link two routers with an ethernet cable, which is a set up access point would be in Bridge Mode. Never realized that until you said it.

I go ahead and close this thread and put the second router in AP mode and manually disable the signal wireless at the time wherever I choose.

Another small issue however, Lan, Wan or Lan to Lan for installation in AP mode? I see pictures of Lan to Wan but have read where Lan to Lan is used.

Thank you.

  • The most convenient airport in Bridge mode lose packets

    Hi all.

I have an airport extreme with the version of firmware 7.7.7 (later at the time of this announcement). My modem ISP settings are blocked and it is already fixed to make routing/DHCP/Nat, so I use my airport extreme in Bridge mode to avoid the double NAT (it connects connects to the ISP with DHCP router).

Both the ISP modem/router and Airport extreme are creating two different 'wifi networks", which belong to the same network (192.168.0.0).

I can enter each of this Wifi network, obtain an IP address in both cases and start using the internet.

However, when I use it on my ISP router, everything works perfectly, however, when I use it on the airport network, it fails from time to time.

If I start ping an external IP address (e.g.: 8.8.8.8), I've never lost a packet on the network of the ISP router, but I lose packets often on the airport extreme network.

Also, if I ping the ISP of the airport extreme network router I lose packets from time to time. Sometimes also vice versa. I never lose packets when ping the router whose network providing I'm connected to.

All the settings on the airport extreme values by default (except that I created an additional network of 5 GHz).

Can you give us some advice as how to solve the problem? I read somewhere that disable ipv6 connection sharing could solve the problem, but it didn't. Thanks in advance

If you have the Ethernet cable from your ISP router that is connected to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port, unplug the cable and plug it into one of the three ports LAN <>- on the airport to see if this will help with the issue.

However, if you have the Ethernet cable from the ISP router already connected to one of the LAN <>- port on the AirPort Extreme, then you'll need to reset the AirPort Extreme back to default settings and then set up again.

If you have any further questions, the Airport extreme is defective and must be replaced.

  • Not able to get the 192.168.1.1 console configuration in Bridge Mode only

    Hello

I use the Linksys WAG200G wireless modem and connection mode is ' Bridge Mode Only ', in this mode I do not get the console configuration 192.168.1.1 and Wifi set-up. Please help me to solve these problems. Appreciate your help. Thank you.

    1. you set a static IP address, for example 192.168.1.2 mask 255.255.255.0 on the computer and he wire the WAG to get access.

    2. do not allow the wireless and basically anything else on the WAG during a bridge mode. In bridge mode, it works like a standard modem and all you can change is the modem related settings.

In Bridge mode, verify that you assign a STATIC IP address to the router first. In this way, with a specific set of IP, manage your settings to be a problem. If a powercycle does not let you return to the (at page of the router), do a RESET. Reconfigure your router settings and do not forget to assign a STATIC IP to your EA4500 address.

  • E4200V2 Wireless Bridge Mode disconnects

I have an E4200V2 with the last installed firmware.36.

The E4200V2 is configured in Bridge Mode. DHCP from 4200 is an IP address for itself of my network infrastructure. It is a modem UBEE DOCSIS 3 (exit concert E) on a cable connection 100 meg feeding a router/firewall IP Cop Linux and go to a concert, entirely gig E on the network side. The wired network is absolutely bulletproof. And the older B AP only that worked well was also on this same configuration.

I have the nec N only on the side of the 5 GHz E4200V2, and I had it set on Auto for channel selection, but set a currently unused channel manually. The side 2.5 GHz is also manually defined a locally unused channel now and is set to mixed mode, as I I need to connect to B/G/N devices. The channel not used for two radios was total by searching for the activity of the PA using one of my Linux laptops.  I have the 5 GHz and 2.5 GHz radios set to the width of the channel 20/40. And I use the WPA2-Personal recommended for security on both, with a different SSID name for each radio.

For two radios E4200 V2 wireless disconnects on both pretty random but regular and has to reconnect. This happens on both radios. There is no interference, and no network feed problems it would cause. And the older B single Orinoco AP I replaced never had these problems. The signals are strong for all devices and drop-outs occur even when you test with a laptop several feet from the E4200V2. If I'm streaming a video on GoogleTV or music or playing a game online, the 4200 disconnects regularly and devices need to reconnect. This happens on both radios and to each device.

Disconnect it happen on a device GoogleTV, a Blackberry, many laptops with Windows XP, Windows 7, several Linux distributions and a Kindle keyboard.

I see recommendations change settings wireless advanced posted on this forum, and however the E4200V2 doesn't have these same advanced available settings to be changed.

I don't do anything with the E4200V2, but wireless. It is connected to via the port WAN on the E4200V2 and nothing else in the E4200V2 is used.

It must be a problem of firmware on the E4200. V2. I've seen other posts on this subject.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I like the router, and the intensity of the signal is great about it. But I have to get this constant random disconnection problem solved.

    I'll mark this resolved.

I used the settings by default in the main wireless screen, that is automatic on the channel and auto on the selection of 20/40 MHz and define a different name for the 2.5 GHz radio and 5.

Then I and advanced the settings shown above.

I got on the 5 GHz radio streaming video throughout the day and evening on my Google TV and not a single hiccup. Music streaming on Sirius on a Blackberry for hours, without drops. And eddd some surf and download and play on the 2.5 GHz radio, with no dropouts at all.

That's how I expect the router to work out of the box...

As far as I can see, the changes in the parameters have on the WIFi connection on the side of rock solid now.

  • How can I configure my Airport Extreme in Bridge mode (use the 3rd party router)?

    Data sheet:

    Airport Extreme - v 7.7.7

    Luma Surround Wifi 8

I recently bought a wifi (luminance) surround system.  It comes with 3 routers that you place around your home.  Unfortunately I still have stains died in my house I'm looking to add my Airport Extreme (AE) to Luma network.  Is it as simple as plug the AE to the network (via Ethernet) and the bridge mode selection in the configuration of EI?

I can see the AE of my iMac, and it is green.  How do you know that actually extend the wifi of my router Luma range?

I searched the forum and all messages dealing with this are several years old.

    Thanks for your time...

Basically, you want to create a mobile network with your Luma and AirPort Extreme routers. As you said, the extreme would need to be connected to the luminance by Ethernet and reconfigured as a bridge.

In addition, the following are also required on the extreme:

    • Wireless mode: create a wireless network
    • The network name must be the same as that used by the Luma.
    • The type of wireless security and the password must match that of the luminance as well.

To 'know' that the extreme extends the network of Luma, simply consult the BSSID value in the drop-down of OS X Wi - Fi. It must match the ID of the airport on your base station. Note: You must hold down the option key before clicking on the icon of the free Wi - Fi connection.

  • Bridge mode breaks down wireless network

I have a Time Capsule of 4th generation, I am creating an additional wifi network at the back of my house to cover a dead zone.  I'm not trying to extend an existing wifi, I seek to create a new wifi network but have it on the same network range as my network existing.

My ISP is a router that I have in my basement that has wireless on it. .  It powers up to one router links AC that all my devices connect to.  Then, this device provides wired and wireless access to most of the House.  However, I have a task of dead at the back of the House for the wifi.  So I have an Ethernet cable, which goes to the back of the House and who connects in port WAN on the Apple Airport Extreme / Time Capsule (4th gen).   If I set this device to create a new wireless network in bridge mode, it works for about 20 minutes to an hour and then causes a sort of problem on my network and all my other devices go crazy.  If I disable the router from Apple or back to NAT, everything's fine.

The only reason why I don't want to do this NAT device is because if I put it up to NAT then devices connected to the apple Airport extreme will have more access to the apple TV on the main network.

So I need no more shots on why the bridge mode does not work on the router from apple or I need to know how to get Apple TV visible on two different IP ranges at the same time.  Unfortunately, the Apple TV can be connected to both wifi and wireless at the same time.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Bridge should work fine... I would suspect that your TC gives signs of decomposition.

It is now more than 3 years old which is the best before date.

Try again using static IP method... I think it is more successful than the bridge.

Should be enough information in this post... but if not just give me all the IP info from the existing modem router to. I can then give you specific info to set the TC.

Re: time capsule Airport Guard disconnection

  • Second Airport Extreme in Bridge mode, ethernet ports does not

I have two routers, I want to use. The first is a time Capsule (old model 2 TB) connected to a single cable modem. The second is an Airport Extreme (also a little older, the 'flat' last body model until they began to sell towers). Both have the 7.6.4 firmware.

The problem is that I want to use the second to extend my network, but I don't want to use wifi. I have the second of the WAN port connected via an Ethernet cable to the network served by the time Capsule, but when I launch the extreme in Bridge mode with a Mac Pro plugged into one of the ports ethernet to the extreme, it says it is not connected to the net.

Y at - there a trick to getting the second router work ports ethernet when used in this way?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Time Capsule backup disabled on Bridge mode

    Hi all...

I have a 3rd generation (A1355) Time Capsule and I connected on a D-Link DSL-2520U router which is connected to my DSL via PPPoE internet connection. In order to get my setup working, I had to put the network on the bridge mode settings. Since my backup Time Capsule does not work, and when I try to manually force the backup system, it is said: "the backup drive is not found. Make sure that the backup disk is connected, or select a different backup disk. »

When I try to put the time Capsule to DHCP, it is said: "the DHCP range you have entered conflicts with your base station WAN IP address."

Now, what can I do to get it working again?

Bridge mode is the correct setting of the time Capsule, but you changed the 'path' that has been using Time Machine to locate your Time Capsule on the network, so that it can not find the time Capsule.

(Gear on the dock icon)... open Mac system preferences

    Open Time Machine

    Click Add or remove disks

Under the backup disks, click to select the current backup drive

Click on remove the disc at the bottom right of the window

    Close the windows

    Restart the Mac.

Then, go to time Machine again as above, click select disk and select the backup drive that you want to use, and then click on using the drive.

Wait a few minutes for a backup start, or if you do not want to wait... click on the "clock" icon Time machine at the top of the screen of the Mac, and then click Backup now.

  • Time Warner failure: replace BRIDGE MODE DHCP/NAT!

If I woke up this morning to find that my Time Warner Cable internet has exploded the line last night. According to my AirPort Utility application, my Airport was functioning normally, but it was not connected to the Internet. So I restarted the thought of the airport that could solve. Not only it does not solve my problem, it made it worse:

Now, he pointed out that the AirPort base station has a private IP address and suggest that change my Airport to use DHCP and NAT mode.

Now keep in mind, it has been working perfectly for months with the current settings. Suddenly, he must be in Bridge mode after reboot it?

I had to leave for work so I didn't have the time to reset the modem from Time Warner Cable. However, I suppose that I should not change the settings on my AirPort at the moment since it worked perfectly before?

I have the current model AirPort Extreme and configured automatically, after several attempts of frustrating with the same modem from Time Warner Cable, which I am currently using, of course it takes hours to acquire a signal of Time Warner Cable.  It has been working perfectly since.

This should resolve on its own once the cable connection is restored, or is it that this means that I have to completely reset my AirPort Extreme and implemented from scratch with the cable modem I did originally?

It would help us if you could provide the serial number and model of your modem.

IF... the modem normally gives you a public IP... so the parameter DHCP and NAT on the most convenient airport would be correct.

IF... the modem... which normally provides a public IP address was not reset, then it could actually send a 'private' IP address... probably something in the 192.168.x.x range... that is not correct.

Turning off the modem by pulling on the power cord to the back of the unit

Unplug the co - ax cable and Ethernet cable

Let off for at least 30 minutes the modem... 60 would be better.

Turning off AirPort Extreme as well

After turn off modem, reconnect things

Start the modem and let it run for at least 10 minutes by itself

Then, turn on the AirPort Extreme.

  • EX7000 supports bridge mode?

    EX7000 supports bridge mode?

Switching to Netgear products network infrastructure and are looking for an AC WIFI capable device in Bridge mode.

    http://www.NETGEAR.com/Home/Discover/gaming/

To halfway to the bottom of this page it mentions expressly the extensions Wireless Bridge mode, but the EX7000 product page, and the manual does not mention this feature.

    "Upgrade your Console WiFi
Improve your XBox or more slow 11n wireless of PlayStation with a NETGEAR range extender and take advantage of the advances 11ac router speeds available today. You can create a wireless bridge and upgrade your game console WiFi speed by adding a 11ac dual band range extender to your network, and connect your console directly into the range extender, creating a wireless bridge. "And if you decide to choose a desktop range extender, you can use one of the five Ethernet ports to connect your TV, Blu - Ray or continuous player directly in the WiFi network as well."

Just bought a R7500v2 instead because the documentation does not support the claim of bridge on the EX7000 mode.

  • Airport Extreme in Bridge Mode?  What did I want?

I'm AT & T Uverse with Gigapower.  Until today I had 2 networks in my home, the AT & T router then the one I created on my Apple Airport Extreme.

The tech told me that I can implement the airport just mirror or fill the AT & T network.  In this way all devices in the House are on the same network.  In the past, there are times where someone has been connected on the AT & T network, but wanted to print to the printer WiFi, which stood on the Airport network.  We must also be on the Airport network in order to access the iTunes account via the Remote App.  Only, it would be easier if everything was on the same network, and we did not have to worry about switching.

I want to use Airport Extreme to give us better coverage downstairs in the House.  The AT & T router is in a closet on the floor.  The signal is not large in some rooms on the ground floor.

How to make the Airport Bill as a Repeater for the AT & T network?  What is this called bypass surgery?

Thanks in advance for your help and your big brain.

    Adam

Yes. Plug your Airport Extreme in a spare Ethernet port on the router AT & T. open Airport utility, click on the Airport Extreme, select Edit, select network and the router Mode value: Off (Bridge Mode) and update. Your Airport Extreme is now part of the AT & T network.

p.s. You need to connect a cable Cat 5 or Cat 6 Ethernet of the AT & T to the Airport Extreme router since they are in different places in the House.

I would like to address my internet connection from my M20 to a liked n wireless router.  The older router can be placed in bridge mode, but how do I place the M20 in bridge mode? Thank you!

The M20 Valet isn't a function of wireless bridge. You try to extend the connection of the main router wireless? I suggest that you optimize the router's wireless settings. Or add a network Extender.

This post is mainly to make clearly evident that the X 3000 wifi router cannot run in bridged mode, it?

    I ask just a yes/no answer.

I think that the answer is "", but not totally sure that since I was surprised to see that all the messages on the lists seem to converge and finally to see the page

saying that configure the router in Bridge mode requires:

For awhile, I've been duped by the help offered the basic network configuration page

    http://192.168.1.1/help/Basic_Setup.asp

which explains the choice of bridge, which are not actually in the dropdown for "Type of Internet connection.

After I discovered that the porgram Cisco Configuration has not been worn after 10.8 MacOsX, I am certainly considering buy products from other companies.

It's logical. You need cascading 'LAN to LAN' in the link below (sorry it's a copy and paste of one of my old posts):

In waterfall or connect a Linksys router to another router

Things to keep in mind when cascading a second router:

    1. Change the IP address of the secondary router to something like 192.168.1.254 so its on the same network, but is not in conflict with the main router
    2. Make sure that the DHCP service is disabled on the secondary router
    3. Make sure that nothing is ever connected to the Internet port on the secondary router
