RALink 802.11n Wireless Adapter - connects at startup but the dsiconnects after a few minutes

Hello

I have a HP Pavillion DV6-3125SA and just reinstalled Windows 7 Home Prem after installing a new hard drive. Initially everything (including the wireless adapter) had been working perfectly, and then after the last round of updates (as you know that get you about 1 million of updates on the re - install) my wireless adapter started to misbehave. He started sporadically disconnect and reconnect, but now it gets disconnected and remains disconnected. It still works fine at startup. I checked that the driver software is updated, more I also uninstalled and let it automatically re - install. An interesting point to note, is that when I linked to go in Device Manager to disable (and re-enable), Device Manager freezes and unresponsive.

Someone at - it had a similar problem or know a solution?

Thanks for your help.

Megan

Its a cell phone, right?

Run windows Update >... settings disable the updates recommended leaving ONLY the important updates for automatic installation.

Visit the HP support, specific to your model, and then reinstall the chipset and wireless driver

See if that helps

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I read your post about the way your computer displays a pop-up message prompting you to update the installed wireless card. I'd be happy to help you in this case!

If you encounter any issues connecting to a wireless network on your computer, I wouldn't count the update as crucial. If your computer is having problems connecting to the network, even if the problem is intermittent, it may be a good idea to install the update.

I hope this helps, and if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to post back!

  • HP dv6-6c10us: HP dv6-6c10us Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter does not work after windows 10 installed

I have a laptop HP dv6-6c10us with a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter.  It worked fine on Win 7.  When I upgraded to win 10, it has stopped working.  The driver has not been updated since 06/02/13.

Until the driver is updated by Broadcom or HP, this computer is now a desktop computer.

Any suggestions on how to get the adapter wireless on Windows 10?

I recommend you to go back and do a system restore to a point before started to install the automatic updates, and where worked the wireless.

Then download this tool that stops updates to install automatically.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3073930

Hide all of them and then install one by one until you find the one that is to destroy the wireless connection.

When you have found the culprit just hide it again and it will not be installed.

You can create a system restore point each time you install an update.

Tedious, but you should get where you want to be.

    Hi mpw101,

I understand that you get an automatic update that indicates that you must install the software driver for your Ralink Wireless LAN card, and I would be happy to help you!

For your computer, the most up-to-date Ralink Wireless Network Controller Driver is labeled sp58084.exe. I spoke with Dunidar on this subject, and he referred me to a previous post that you created on your network card. That being said, if you update is always at the SP62055.exe, please ignore this update as it is a business unit.

    I hope this helps!

  • Second laptop unable to connect; When trying to connect wirelessly, says connection is successful, but the Public unidentified network, no Internet.

    Hi all.

I'm really sorry to post this question, I must have read 100 other threads on this topic, but none of the solutions seem to work for me.

I have a home set wireless network in place, which may not have a lot of problems with it that I have a laptop W7 which has a perfect wireless connection, and also our TV connect when you want, as do our phones and Xbox.

We bought a second hand Acer aspire laptop for our daughter. It is running Vista Edition family Basic. Even if she had the factory reset done on this, because we can connect to the router with an ethernet cable and it works very well, we managed to ensure that all updates of Windows etc are all complete.

When trying to connect wirelessly, it says connection successful, but it is to a Public unidentified network, and there is no Internet. Also, even if it says Local access, we cannot connect to the router settings page is.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the built-in wireless adapter and updated the driver to do this, he says that he is as up-to-date as possible.

I checked that DHCP is enabled, we tried dynamic and static IP addresses, we have disabled and re ipv6 enabled, we used the command prompt to reset winsock and stack ip, I looked into msconfig services for service # Id_String1.6844f930_1628_4223_b5cc_5bb94b879762 # Apple off but it isn't here.

I have a real dislike for Norton / products McAfee and there is none of these on the laptop. We will install Comodo Internet Security, Eusing Registry Cleaner, Spybot S & D and Spyware Blaster as soon as the wireless is configured and that the Windows Firewall is disabled.

We also have many turns of the spin off the coast and laptops, etc. and deactivation and activation of the adapter.

It seems that all the usual solutions for the lack of connection are not the culprits this time.

Norton or McAfee pre-mstalled of recovery of the manufacturer media?

If so, did you uninstall it AND run the tool to remove the appropriate product manufacturer?

    Hello

    1. what operating system you are using?

    2. how many computers is connected to the network?

    3 - is a domain network?

    4. What is the exact error code or error message you received?

5 have have there been recent changes made on the computer before the show?

Follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Method 1: Troubleshooting run Network.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/using-the-network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

Method 2: Wi - Fi and in Windows network connection issues.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

If you cannot connect to a network, it could be a problem with your network adapter. You can try to use the network adapter troubleshooting utility to automatically find and fix some common problems.

How can I troubleshoot network card?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/how-do-I-fix-network-adapter-problems

Method 3: Disable the security software and check.

You can also temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem persists. Be sure to enable this security software on the computer after checking.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

So I download WhoCrashed which identified the main cause of the system down to be:

netr28x.sys (MediaTek 802.11 Wireless Adapter Driver, MediaTek Inc.)

WhoCrashed strongly recommend checking the updates for this driver.
Can anyone suggest me how to upgrade?
    Thanks in advance.

I fixed my problem 8.1 WIndows installation on my laptop.
I have not had any crash since I installed it, which was 5 days ago.
I gather that some drivers HP for Windows 7 dindn can't work properly.

  • Broadcom 802.11n network adapter (code 10) does not. grrrr!

After getting a virus and my computer reset everything (with help) and install my drivers and utilities provided by Dell, Broadcom 802.11n Natwork adapter came with a yellow warning triangle and when I look at properties says device cannot start (code 10) I tried searching for uninstalling and reainstalling solutions and internet usage and have gotten nowhere do you know a solution?

    Hello

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the network troubleshooter utility.

Method 2: follow the instructions section below.
