  • R ad-somware-is there a cure?

"R-ad-somware" is my play-on-words for ransomware, due to recent events. I regularly visit and participate in a web forum hosted by Proboards, and lately (last days), the host redirects the active forum to ads that don't have that one active button - the button 'Install'-'later' visible on-screen or off button 'Cancel' or 'download '. At first, I could close the page/window/tab - there is no 'back' to the original page navigation, but close the page worked (meaning he had to reopen and close the session in the forum in order to continue where you left).

Today, the announcement that hijacked the page was for MacKeeper resumed, and as indicated above, there is no other choice than to download and install MacKeeper. I know all about MacKeeper and never click on any link to the distributor of malware or basically any "announcing" that appears on a Web page I visit, or in my email, etc. But not only does MacKeeper page won't let me return to my previous page / forum or close this window, uninstalled Chrome so I ended up having to force quit to escape. It was like ransom-ware without a request to call a phone number to "solve" the problem, or to download the 'hotfix' and pay hundreds of $$ for the privilege. In this case, the 'ransom' seems to be download MacKeeper and have your search engines have diverted, as well as any other bad this criminal organization for your computer.

I don't have a "user account" with Proboards so I can't even report it to them. I also followed the steps to check and clear all malware/adware software that might have been surreptitiously installed on my computer in the background... and my computer does not junk.

Is it possible to keep the garbage on a site web servers hosted in your browser hijacking? (Less outright from the forum who is affected and never visit again,?)

I am removing Chrome from my computer because it has serious problems-'flash plug-in' crashes constantly - and is no longer supported for my OS (10.6.8). I use Safari for the first time in two years because it caused me headaches in the past... but Firefox and Chrome are more suitable.

    Hello blick.

On 10.6.8 your options are limited. Many web sites does not work in this old version of Safari. Installation of the latest Chrome or Firefox, it's something I would normally say. More recent versions of Mac OS X / Safari avoid pop ups from hijacking your web browser completely.

You could try ScamZapper (https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/downloads/scamzapper-info) which was developed by another contributor albums here at Apple support communities.

  • Is there any variety of ransomware that targets Apple?

I hear more and more about ransomware in the news. It is a software that blocks computers until the ransom is paid. I can't find any reference to what happens to Apple users. Am I missing any report? I must have some form of backup?

Given that the evidence of the scam is usually a pop-up and, sometimes, a freeze on the screen

or the inability to go beyond this screen on the browser, you must exit the browser and

do not click on the button in the pop-up window or ransom. See this document:

  • The names of files and documents is displayed automatically with '. RRT' and does not open.

I had been using windows 8.1 pro until last month when one day all my documents and files names appears with '. RRT' at the end of the tail. The day before, that I can remember, I had tried to free up the space of the drives c and d by removing unused and temporary files. I had also deleted some system files, where I could probably and unintentionally deleted some important system. Therefore, no office paper was reading and writing. I tried a few Microsoft office online supports, convenience stores, diag apps, but nothing has worked.

I then uninstalled windows 8.1 and installed windows 7, tried some recovery methods and tools, in fact, it's always "RTT" at the tail. I have a pair of drive but that was created during the windows 8.1 platform and now it's windows 7.

Now, I want a solution 2 at the same time

    (1) is it possible and how to return to my previous windows operating system 8.1 from the windows repair disc I have with me?

    (2) what is this format RRT, how she appeared? And how to recover or repair all my documents and files?

    Please advice...

There was a similar post in this forum about a month ago. Its author has finally found his machine had been infected by ransom ware. All his files have been encrypted. If he paid the ransom his records might (?) get decrypted.

If you can download one of these files to a cloud storage location or send it to me (pegasusDOTfnlATgmailDOTcom), then I might be able to tell you more. Don't forget to specify what type of file it should be (.docx, .pdf, etc.).

  • Star Wars series

A lot of new books Star Wars canon are part of the 'Star Wars' series. A lot of books, however, is excluded. It is lost by Claudia Gray stars and most of the path of Force wakes up short stories. Who is the best person to contact to get these books included in the series.

This has happened once before with my Hunger Games books. Customer support Apple has learned from him, and less than a month, my Hunger Games book has been included in the series 'Hunger Games'.

Is it just a matter of point out the differences to Apple?

The best people to contact are the Publisher/owner of the rights to these books, Apple can sell in a country that they are allowed to sell - you can try only asking them through iTunes, but Apple cannot do anything without the consent of the rights holder: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Redirects of Safari and ransom sites

Within the last few days my iMac was prey to redirects and popups of websites of ransom.  Redirects are all trying to read stories of legitimate websites like CNN.com, etc..  When I click on a link to read a story, I see the random URL displayed in the address line of safari and I'm taken to various random websites that is loaded with advertising and other nonsense.  I also have more than my share of 'popups ransom' as well as the Truvi homepage set as my default home page in safari.  I tried to address this problem by using the techniques described in the messages of support, but nothing seems to work.

I also downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and followed the instructions to scan my system, remove malware that we found, restart, but the problems remain.

I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and Safari 9.1.1, which I've updated to the last level yesterday.

I read articles saying me to search the LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons folders and remove suspicious files, but I'm not sure what are these files and if I delete them.

The contents of the directories is as follows:

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ [email protected]- SharedServices.Agent.plist

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com. Spotify.webhelper.plist

    Library/LaunchAgents

    file:///Library/LaunchDaemons/com.retrogastricUpd.plist

    file:///Library/LaunchDaemons/com.unbridged.plist

    file:///Library/LaunchDaemons/com.unfortifiable.plist

I'm at a loss as to what to do next and what to do to prevent this problem from occurring in the future.  If there is more information I can provide, please let me know.  Some suggestions on best practices for the Safari preferences would be also useful.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Star Wars Comics on iBooks

How is it are not communicated to the only question of the any of the Comics Marvel Star Wars on iBook?  Only the largest volume of releases are out there. The descriptions are not useful as to what issues are in each comic and some volumes; for example, Vader 1 missing in the collection. Is it a problem to Apple, or is this a decision of Marvel?

It is the decision a Marvel / rights holder, Apple can sell content where they are allowed to sell it. You can try to contact Marvel and ask them to let Apple sell them and you can also try asking them by Apple (but without the agreement of the holder of the rights, Apple will not be able to do anything): http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Store the Spanish: Star Wars in English

A few comments. I am British and live in Spain. I suffer by your Spanish store with her Spanish dubbed movies that sometimes are not available in their original language. Despite the fact that you're the best option I have, the Microsoft store and Google game store had little English movies in Spain. I bought in the ecosystem Apple films last month and so far most of the purchases have been great, but the Star Wars we were horrible. Yes, the film is available in English, but you have committed the horror and betrayal Act to leave the famous Star Wars text roll all in Spanish with English subtitles. Terrible! My iTunes client is fully in English. My OS (Windows 10) is also defined entirely in English. In a digital market these things to note and Star Wars nerds like myself should not be exposed to the HORROR of a foreign language imposed on the Star Wars text roll. Please watch in solve this in the future if I get good English through and through.

As a story aside, I think you should reconsider your encoding, your version of the movie is ok, but it lacks the detail I saw in other editions of HD film on my TV screen.

You're talking about other users on these forums of users, no support or Apple iTunes.

The film studio/holder of rights decides which language (s) and/or subtitles and/or features a particular movie has in the Bank of a country, not Apple. You can try to contact the rights holder
