should I disconnect my external hard drive between backups

You can, but it is not necessary as long as you use a shape any protection network in your local router or use a VPN service if you are on an unprotected network.

  • All hacked with Ransomware on Safari?

On March 4, I got a blue screen telling me to call the representative of Microsoft listed immediately to unlock my Mac Mini I was on Safari but all locked except the blue screen.  Then a record came through my speakers explaining that I have a serious problem and that he should not try to do anything about it until I called the number on the blue screen.  I was unable to do anything on Safari, but was able to open another browser through Firefox.  From there on, I was able to delete all backups time machine current and restored in early March 3.  Everything seems to work ok now, but today I saw an article by Palo Alto Networks, there may be a dormant malware that can resurface three days AFTER infection.  PAN also said that this attack tries to enter backups time machine to prevent which, in my view, that I did to restore control.  I'm not an expert by any means, but I have critical information that I can't afford to lose.  I heard that some have paid a ransom for similar problems.  I thought I was safe with Apple and my small business documents.  I doubt that this question was exclusive to me.  Any information on this topic or how to prevent it from repeating would be greatly appreciated.

The recent ransomware was limited to a certain version of the show, a torrent app. The developer has since published a clean version of their application. It would have shut up together on your computer, not just Safari.

You have encountered a website, appearing usually if you're in a shady site that locks Safari. All you had to do was Force Quit Safari and not visiting sites subject to this kind of popup advertising in the future.

  • Problem of ransomware

I have a 2108p p6 desktop computer has been infected with one of the strains of ransomware that encrypted all of my documents and photos.  And of course for $500 I could recover them.  Needless to say that I did not pay the ransom.  Everyone tried to clean the PC, but it keeps reappearing more likely the Internet when I go on the line again.  My question is, can I replace the hard drive, reload a clean version of the system recovery software or more deep infection in the firmware on the motherboard, network card, etc... ?  Or I just scrap it?

I wiped the drive using DBAN and I'm waiting for the system software of HP to reload and test the system again.  Once this happens, and if it succeeds, I will close this case.  I appreciate the help of everyone.

The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.

Difficulty of pop-ups in browser that support Safari.

Common pop - ups include a message saying that the Government has taken over your computer and you pay release (often called "Moneypak"), or a false message saying that your computer has been infected and you need to call a number of tech support (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it to be resolved. First of all, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and that your computer has not been assigned. This "hack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so don't pay not money, call number, or provide personal information. This article will give an overview of the solution to remove the pop-up window.

    Quit Safari

Usually, these pop-ups will not go by clicking 'OK' or 'Cancel '. In addition, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in grey, including the option to leave Safari. You'll probably force quit Safari. To do this, press command + option + ESC, select Safari, press on force quit.

    Relaunch Safari

If you restart Safari, the page will reopen. To avoid this, hold the "Shift" key when opening Safari. This will prevent windows since the last time that Safari was running since the reopening.

It will not work in all cases. The SHIFT key must be maintained at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window is displayed again. In these circumstances, after force quit Safari, turn off Wi - Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then restart Safari normally. He'll try to reload the malicious Web page, but without a connection, it will not be able to. Leave this page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com and try to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet and the page that you entered is displayed rather than the malicious.

  • Is there any variety of ransomware that targets Apple?

I hear more and more about ransomware in the news. It is a software that blocks computers until the ransom is paid. I can't find any reference to what happens to Apple users. Am I missing any report? I must have some form of backup?

Given that the evidence of the scam is usually a pop-up and, sometimes, a freeze on the screen

or the inability to go beyond this screen on the browser, you must exit the browser and

do not click on the button in the pop-up window or ransom. See this document:

  • How to remove cryptowall ransomware?

so during my internship, I was on a stage for several days, help a charity I.T. problems. When using from their desktop a Notepad document opens when I reach the windows desktop, after further research I found it open the attachment "Bill" a malicious email and had no idea malware had been installed.

He has not made a backup of his word files that have been encrypted (I think the ransomware is cryptowall 3.0 by the document of the notebook detailing how to pay the ransom and decrypt files). I tried to run avast and super anti-spyware which both have detected no threat.

I then ran an another anti virus application that find the dishes of ransom cryptowall but then I discovered that you need to purchase the full version to remove the malware.

My question is whoich anti-virus program will be able to remove cryptowall? is there a method to decrypt word documents, and these are the only copies of them we have ASD there are no backups online or on the memory of the glue and the volunteers are mostly students in trade or Secretaries etc and therefore only use computers to send jobs and use the office application , there is no really monitor the I. • RansomWare: A technique that can help...

I am running Win 7 Ultimate x 64 (updated Pro).

As a matter of SOP on my system, I create two accounts.

    (1) Admin

    (2) standard user

The Standard user account belongs to no other than the users group. No power to my data personal key or other readers. It can even access my home group.

The other day, I was struck with RansomWare. He has been recognized as an intrusion attempt by me (not); and I immediately reset my system. Oh well, still not fast enough. However, during the attack, he wanted to run a java program and UAC prompted me to leave. I said no.

Moments later, the RansomWare screen appeared. in an unusual format this time. It appeared as if it had a window open behind her order and running commands there. Strange.

    Now to the point.

This has happened in my Standard user account. Under normal circumstances - perhaps 99% of user Win 7 deployments - account would have privileges that there should not be under this kind of attack. And, every time that you have started, it would lock you out of your system. So is the type of attack it is.

In my case, its activity has been isolated to the user who was logged.

What that meant, even if I ran the CANDY. EXE Microsoft powerful virus Eraser; and continues with a MS Security Essentials - all in safe mode; I have done it since my Admin profile without being locked out of my system. I have just connected to my admin account of in safe mode and down them.

They have yet to identify and remove the virus. Which of course, gave me a radical step: remove the Standard user account. Yes, I did. Now my system starts correctly, does not seem to run slow or doesn't seem to have this vicious piece of software on my system. Of course, I lost things that the Standard user had under his control. Just NOTHING which was criticizing or personally identifiable. Phew... :)

Now the $64 000 question: How can I be sure that the software is started when the virus is activated, is really gone?

    Any ideas are appreciated...

Oh, and this is another great example of why you should never use their Admin account to access other servers, internet or a company oriented to local functions.

Hope that this experience at least one another gives the thought that this approach to personal computing is necessary, even if the installation program and Exchange is a bit annoying... :)
