RDRAND is accessible to a guest operating system?

I can't seem to find any documentation on this one way or the other.  Is the RDRAND statement (aka Intel Secure Key) presentations/accessible to a guest operating system with the latest version of the Player on a system with a processor Ivy Bridge?

Thank you!

Support for RDRAND was introduced with version 9 of virtual equipment.  As long as your virtual machine has virtual version 9 or higher and RDRAND is available on your physical CPU, it will be available at the prompt.

  • Sharing of content between the guest operating system

    Hello

Y at - it a simple way to share content between operating systems.

We have invited several BONES that make similar task. Run us simultaneously with the slightly different variant, but basically, most of the files that are needed in each guest operating system are the same.

What I want to achieve is to build a repository of centralized files accessible across operating systems. I'm running Win7 and WinXP Win2008 OSes on ESXi 5 comments.

I found this thread, but it is too old.

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/630923#630923

I'm hoping there have been changes since that thread has been discussed.

    Thank you

Well, I can't tell you much about the user experience expected without knowing the network load. However, if install you the file server as an another VM on the same host, you will have at least a 1GBit/s connection between the virtual machines.

  • VMPlayer newbie - switch back and forth between the host and the guest operating system

I am newbie to VMPlayer. I just installed VMPlayer 3.0.0 build-203739 on Red Hat Linux 5 (host). Then I created a VM comments Kubuntu (8.10). So far so good. In the VMPlayer window, I selected 'play Virtual Machine '. After this, the host operating system controls disappeared and I could see a taskbar on the top of my screen and I could also see Kubuntu startup (in an area of the small window in the center of the screen). The problem I'm running is that I'm not able to navigate outside of this area of the small window. I'm not even able to click/Select the taskbar of VMPlayer top of the screen. The mouse movement is limited to the area of the small window. How to and fro my host and the guest operating system? Is there a key combination? I finally had to stop my VM guest to return to the control of my host system. I guess it's a problem quite newbie that I am running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, welcome to the forum

Host Windows to switch between comments and the OS (when you are in the guest operating system), you must use ctrl + alt.

According to this link , it's the same thing in Linux host too.

    >Default VMware Player uses key combination Ctrl + Alt to jump out of the guest. Then CTRLAltdel is accessible via theAltInsert command. If you find this annoying, you can change the jump shortcut to CtrlAltshift by adding the following lines to your ~/.vmware/preferences:

    > pref.hotkey.shift = "true".

    > pref.hotkey.control = "true".

    > pref.hotkey.alt = "true".

After your installation OS in the virtual machine, install "VMware Tools" on it so you will get better performance and some improvements (like moving your mouse out of guest to your host operating system operating system and Vice Versa, or be able to copy beyond host/guest, better resolution on reviews and...)

I hope it helps a bit.

  • Is it possible to install multiple copies of Windows 7 in Virtualbox as guest operating system

    Hello

My laptop runs on Linux OS, I installed VirtualBox. Now, I would like to install multiple copies of Windows 7 on VirtualBox as a guest operating system.

    Is this possible?

My activation will expire after 3 installations?

What are the limits in this situation?

Microsoft treats several facilities in VirtualBox (as guest operating system) as a single installation instance? I think that the hardware (motherboard) is used as a fingerprint to detect changes in the systems, but as the material is going to be the same custom installation will be treated as a single instance?

    Help, please...

    Thank you

    one

    Hello

There are not 3 installs with 1 license

A Windows license is for a single installation, and this includes in Virtual Machines.

    See you soon.

  • Avoid checking "the guest operating system has locked the door of CD-ROM. disconnect anyway and replace the lock?

Using PowerCLI, I'm trying to create a script that logs off the CD player and affects the client machine and Passthrough IDE using the command:

    Get-cddrive - VM SRVVM616 - netscan02.kb.se | game-cddrive - nomedia - confirm: $false

'The guest operating system has locked the door of CD-ROM...

Unplug anyway and replace the lock? »

The script hangs until I answered the question, and who does the idea of a useless script?

How can I avoid this issue?

  • Cannot run the program in the guest operating system

    Hello

I'm trying to run a program file (an .exe) in a virtual machine via vCO using executeCommandInGuest.

The thing is that the .exe file starts a user interface to display the status (do not ask for entry) when it runs locally. When I call the script of vCO, I get the following error:

Error while executing command (can not run the command: InternalError: a general error occurred: a program could not run on the guest operating system (name of the dynamic Script Module: executeCommandInGuest #40) (name of the dynamic Script Module: executeCommandInGuest #46))

If I try to call a .bat file in the VM that starts the program of the WF works but the .exe file is never started in the virtual machine.

If I specify to run another .exe for example ping.exe only complete control of WF and if I specify a .bat file that call ping.exe he also successfully complete.

There is no silent mode for the .exe I need performed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

The problem was caused by the user access control. Put forever does not resolve the problem, disable it through the user interface, restart the virtual machine, and then continue with my script.

  • Surface Pro 3 - errors when you try to start a guest operating system 64-bit

I get the following errors setting up an Ubuntu guest operating system.

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit operating systems. However, the 64-bit mode is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT - x, but Intel VT - x is disabled.

Intel VT - x can be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or host was not powered by bicycle since changing this setting.

    (1) check that the settings BIOS/firmware activate Intel VT - x and disable "trust execution."

2 turn on the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

    (3) turn on the host if you have not done since the installation of VMware Workstation.

    (4) update of the BIOS/firmware from the host to the latest version.

I've been Googling this problem since yesterday and so far, I have not come to any possible solution. Certainly, I can install the 32-bit linux flavor, but that doesn't help me when I run the installation to other 64-bit operating systems.

I was able to resolve the issue, after most googleing. I'm always a little surprised that it works, but hey, Ubuntu is installing.

I installed Microsoft Visual Studio, including phone windows SDK (must be included).  I disabled and then Hyper-V by issued this command in a shell of administrator command:

    bcdedit/set hypervisorlaunchtype

If you want to reactivate it, you then type this command

    bcdedit/set auto hypervisorlaunchtype

WinSupersite credit for the tip (link http://winsupersite.com/mobile-devices/surface-pro-3-tip-hyper-v-vs-connected-standby)

Once I rebooted and restarted Vmware, I could start Ubuntu and start the installation process.

  • T of what guest operating systems will start the VMware Support for EFI?

Is there a list of support guest OS for the EFI firmware?  Mianly supported by VMware - do not try, fail, call support technique etc etc.   My experiences on the TP forums, I guess that there is not.  Some OS (such as Windows Server) come with a screen to choose BIOS/EFI firmware.  If not, you need to go to setting > Hard Drive OPtions-> advanced _ > boot using EFI.  In particular there at - it versions of Linux that you give you option of BIOS/EFI firmware before the confutation of VM is complete, so the hard drive then be custom.

We will officially support the EFI firmware for any guest operating system to which all the following conditions are met:

    • We list this guest operating system, supported in the VMware Compatibility Guide for operating systems and your virtualization product.
    • The guest operating system supports EFI in the operating system installation media.
    • Support the guest OS EFI has no catastrophic flaws (for example Fedora 12 x 64, FreeBSD 11, Centos 6.0 through all the 6.2 have catastrophic flaws).

New computer virtual assistant of 11 workstation has only the option of EFI firmware for Windows clients.  Special mention, do not yet support us Easy Install for non EFI customers in 11 workstations.  For all other customer support EFI OSes, you can do a manual installation after choosing the EFI firmware in the virtual machine settings > Options > Advanced > Boot with EFI instead of the BIOS.

I don't understand your concern about the personalization of the hard drive... Could you elaborate?

    See you soon,.

  • Guest operating system installation

I have Vmware workstation 7 and try to install the guest operating system, but it gives me the error message like, no operating system. Can someone help me please?

In the .log files, I noticed that the name of the file you linked at the end of CD/DVD in the DAA and DAA (Direct Access Archive) files are not ISO Image files, and are not directly usable with VMware Workstation!  You must use a valid Image ISO Bootable file!

Did you recently patch your VM? Looks like when the guest operating system runs the incorrect commands that it can have a deactivated processor.

  • VM does not start after the crash of the guest operating system

    VM Workstation 10.03

    Host OS Ubuntu 12.04

    Guest OS Windows XP SP3

VM normally works well under VM for over a year.

While I was updating a mp3 Player XP is crushed, and even power off the virtual machine does not work.

After a Resart of the host operating system, the guest could not start.

I deleted the directory .lck file.

When I start the VM OS prompt written

    Loading... - VMware Workstatiion

Another guest operating system will work very well.

How can I restart my XP?

After a day down from the host (a very cold reboot) and deleting all .lck files.

VM aloowed me to dispose of the session.

After that cold booted XP as it was before.
