Re-activation of OEM on different motherboard.

I have an OEM version of Windows XP Home Edition, recently, my motherboard is dead on my system, now I'm going to replace the motherboard and CPU and memory, everything will be the same, except an upgrade to windows 7, I can use the OEM copy of windows xp on the new system?  and then use it to upgrade to windows 7 without complications of microsoft in referance to the upgrade process?

Hello
If you change the motherboard, it cancels the OEM license

  • Re-install OEM for different motherboard?

My OEM installation has developed material defects, I noticed on such as EBAY it is sellers with certificates of authenticity for the "PC decommisioned. Can I change my old motherboard for a new one and re-install my XP Pro SP3 OEM and activate.

No, once an OEM product key is enabled it is linked to the first PC/motherboard it is installed on and can not be moved. Also, you take a risk with eBay that not all sellers are honest.

  • I need a new key for re install on a different motherboard, which is the same model?

I currently I have Windows 7 Home Premium OEM installed on the computer, recently built, but have had problems with it because of a faulty motherboard, so I wonder if I can re install without problems, or if I need a new key because it it a different motherboard. The motherboard is an ASUS P8Z77 - V Pro. If I do not need a new key from Microsoft will be able to provide me with one, since it's just a computer, and I'm simply by changing a defective part?

If it's a faulty motherboard, in such circumstances, you could try phone activation whenever you use a motherboard of the same model.

I replace the desktop computers that are both the same model of a HP Desktop Tower. The motherboard on one of the computers has been cut. Can I (and what is the best route) to contact Microsoft to remove the lock of license?

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft. »)

  • Activation of Windows 7 - replacement motherboard?

    Hello

My Sandy Bridge 1155 motherboard starts to behave strangely, and I suspect that it should be changed. However, it is just more under warranty, and the chances are that it is not possible to obtain an identical replacement.

My question is: if I have a very different 1155 motherboard, but all other hardware components remain unchanged, would I still be able to (re) activate using the OEM Windows 7 license currently in use? If so, I have to do it by phone?

    Thanks in advance!

  • OEM licenses on motherboards...

So about 1.5 to 2 years ago I built a custom PC and bought an OEM SP1 of Win7 HP for her. I was aware the links of license to the motherboard. My father has also recently bought a PC, although it has not installed the SP1 of HP OEM Win7 that accompanies it. His mother is better than mine, so I offered to pay the difference and swap motherboards. I have 2 years ' worth of information on the SSD that has my Windows installed on it, and I was wondering if it would be possible to transfer my SSD (with the OS on it) to a new motherboard without having to erase the disc? I have to call Microsoft and ask if they can remove the license of my current motherboard? Or any kind of impossible swap? Thank you.

When I try to turn it on but it tells me that I can't activate windows on this computer with this key.

The product key has been used successfully to install the OS on my maching formatted.

    Kind regards

  • can I sell my oem windows 7 + motherboard and all original coas, reception, media

I have genuine oem version of windows 7 with the media, receipt of payment, coa, box, manuals .i have used the product in the motherboard. Now I want to sell it because it is of no use to me I go to computer laptop .i sell it with my motherboard.should would it be legal to sell? can I he switch to the commercial version and thn sell it?

As a new OEM software retailer should not be sold directly to an end user, even if the conditions are not well defined, and I've never seen personally any absolute statement that Microsoft agreed this transaction, although actually they now allowed with Windows 8.

What the question is here sells a USED package. This is specifically covered by the EULA that I quoted and is allowed only with the hardware. As I said I don't know the laws that apply in your area, but in this case, it would usually be a tort. By installing the software in the 1st place the EULA has been accepted and which has been violated, the fact that it was initially proposed with eligible material and the buyer asked that the software is called mitigation no justification and should be tested in court.

Piracy is a criminal offence and is completely different, it is covered by copyright. The offence is pursued by the authorities not by the owner of the software, they only charge. What you described is not piracy, as the software itself is not illegal. I still think that the process you described is questionable and returns to pseudo-legales intimidation. Many companies use letters from lawyers in the hope that the recipient will acquiesce without that he actually tested as the case would fail. I will answer the lawyer clearly indicating that the refusal of payment and specifying the circumstances of the original transaction which demonstrates the fact that the buyer knew very clearly the terms of the original license.

  • Activation of OEM key in windows 8.1

    Hello

recently, I have formttad my laptop and reinstalled WINDOWS 8.1 PRO on WINDOWS 8.1 LANGUAGE UNIQUE but

It took from the BIOS activation keys. My windows is not activated. What should do?

I did the installation with Legacy BIOS without UEFI.

    Product: HP Pavilion n208TX 15

    Initial OS: Windows unilingual 8.1

    Hello Gshankar,

Based on the laptop you have and what is different. I have some recommendations for you.

First of all that your laptop is a commercial product, I would recommend see what more people on our business forms: laptop - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE, suggest for you. As they have the knowledge and experience with your laptop, the question might be different in this regard.

Second, you might try to contact the helpline and investigate with them. This could mean that ultimately something which cannot be by them. Technical support of HP, 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

Thirdly, is in contact with Microsoft. If this was supposed to be the free update and your getting this message, that they are able to explain why. In general, you should not, any edition of Windows 8 should upgrade to this same edition of 8.1 without this issue.

    I hope this helps you.
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Impossible to reactivate XP Pro OEM after replaced motherboard

As the title says, I'm unable to reactivate a copy of XP Pro (OEM) after replacing a dead motherboard. I did have problems in the past when replacing hard drives.  I reinstalled the operating system three times in the last 24 hours, does not. OEM drives are SP2.  Download and install SP3 and IE8.

I wonder not to enter the product key on installation/set upwards (although I seem to think that I was the first time and ignored). There is no option to validate through start programs etc because there is no such thing as the "Activate windows" option.  The validation simply said the key online tool is not valid and directs me to a page to buy Windows 7. I tried the phone... free license key number by selecting personal user... but after the long string of numbers, the 'voice' says that the key is not valid. [I'm not sure if it is relevant, but in the part of this page Web where it says change key if the instructions (or words to that effect)... the key already indicated in the boxes is not the same as the one I have.] Is it because it's what they would say to change it too or what MS thinks that my key is already?]. The options trying to activate via the warning in the system tray do not help either.

I think at present to remove the hard drive, which is the one that came with the pc and already partitioned if not used (I replaced it with a larger immediately after you have configured the pc), delete partitions and reformat before you try to reinstall and activate again... but I was wondering if it is simpler and less time-consuming option.

    Any help is appreciated.

Update (a few hours after the original post): I read a few topics where it is explained how to talk to an operator.  I'll try later today that before anything else.  However, all the other advice always welcome.

Replacing the motherboard outside the warranty terms invalidates an OEM license.

You will need to purchase a new license for Windows - and it will take a full commercial license.

    Greetings-

I'm passionate about PC, and I want to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop.
I made with countless facilities distro of Linux, but never a Windows installation (shock, I know!).
Thus, I have never had to deal with product keys, OEM versions, etc.. I have a few questions.

I have a laptop Lenovo (Ideapad y470, not it's important...), that came with Windows 7 pre-loaded.
He came with all discs, but there a partition recovery (or at least done... Can I have saved and deleted)

I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 (reformat the HARD disk, clean install) using the Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x 64 .iso downloaded from DigitalRiver. I do not wish to restore a bloated version of Windows 7 OEM.

If I reformat my hard drive and start installing Windows 7 my Self burned disc, I'll be able to use my product key on the label on the bottom of my laptop (same key that is in the registry and found with geolocation Magic Jelly Bean... so I guess that's the key to product...)
Or though, servers will think that the key is still in use and deny activation?

    I hope everything is clear,
