Hello, strange question. But can not turn off the touchpad on a Portégé R830 (Windows 7 32 bit). I've seen this problem on two of the machines I have. This has never been a problem for the models Tecra I got, M5, M9, M10, M11, etc. R840.

I have the latest driver installed Alps, from Toshiba.co.uk. I tried the button on the touchpad, it does not work. The device of the Alps can be disabled in the Device Manager. I tried the Toucpad of the State system, Advanced tab, toolbar properties Advanced settings. It doesn't have a single parameter «Disable touchpad» There is no option to disable the touchpad when you use a USB mouse - however, this does not work.

Can anyone help with this? The only other option I can think of is the BIOS, but it would be inappropriate to my users, who may want to turn it back on it at a certain point during execution of Windows.

    Hi liamw,

You can disable the touchpad if you press the FN + F9 key combination. The touchpad will be disabled until you press this combination of keys again, but a mouse external isn t touched. That means you can still use a same USB touchpad mouse is disabled with FN + F9 key combination.

  • HP envy 15 t-q400: permanently disable touchpad

Hi everyone, does anyone know how to permanently disable a synaptics touchpad? I went to the touchpad settings and clicked on disable touchpad so that disable touchpad when a usb mouse is connected. My problem is that when I reboot, the pad touchpad is enabled again and I have to repeat the steps above. Is it possible to disable permanently? Maybe something in the bios? I also uninstalled the synaptics driver, but my touchpad still works.

    Hello

    Try the following.

First of all, if she has not already reinstalled, install the driver Synaptics, and then restart the laptop.

When Windows has reloaded, hold down the Windows key and press R

In the run box, type regedit and press enter

In the registry editor, navigate to the following

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If it is present, right click on the key and select Edit

Set the field data of the value 0 (zero) , and then click Ok.

    Close the registry editor.

Open the control panel of Synaptics and set options to 'disable the touchpad' and 'disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is connected', and then apply the change.

Check if the settings is now kept after a reboot.

  • Satellite A200 - sensitivity Touchpad problem

    Hello.

All of a sudden my touchpad has developed a mind of your own.
If I go on something for a few seconds, it's as if I clicked it.

It's really annoying because I was removing things that I don't want delete, selection of programs I want to choose etc.etc.

I have looked at the Synaptics settings & can't find anything that can solve the problem, although I am totally thick when it comes to something like this.
If anyone can offer a solution that, I understand I will be really, really grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

All you can do is to check all these settings, in particular to change the sensitivity level in the hope that this behavior will stop.
Otherwise I do not see other was about visit Toshiba service.

Is solution of using external mouse for you? I mean you can completely disable touchpad with FN + F9 and use an external mouse.

  • IdeaPad Y410 Disable Touchpad

On my new Lenovo IdeaPad Y410, the touchpad, while nice, is big enough, and when I type, the edge of my Palm frequently bumps it slightly, with like a click and shake completely as I type. There is the button disable touchpad with Fn + F6, but apparently not actually disable the touchpad, even if the led lights on the front. Any fix for that?

Problem solved--apparently on the new computer, I had, the pilots had not been updated. Win8 gestures properly, as well as neutralizing him.

  • Disable touchpad HP Envy 17

I have exactly the same problem you have posted... Do you have a solution?  There is no 'mouse' or "Point Touch Control Pad" with a disable to kill the touchpad.  I am thinking to resort to disassemble the laptop and unplug the cable that plugs into the touchpad itself.  I also deleted the synaptic touch pad (Windows 7) device driver and did not help.

I'm pretty sure that remove the cable from the touch pad will fix the problem, but it is a fairly long process... 20 with respect to and then if I still wanted to sell the laptop, I would probably have to plug the cable back in again for someone else.

    Please help, Dave

I've done what I suggested above to remove the flat cable for the touchpad disable touchpad and it worked very well.   I removed the two ends and folded cable where HP had folded it and scotch taped it to the system board next to the connector where it plugs IO on the system board so that someone will be able to put it back in if I never sold it.  On the plug, it has a little fitting valve rubber to flip upward to allow you to remove the cable at both ends.  I don't have any errors saying that it was not connected.  After the cable has been removed it simply does not work which is exactly what I wanted.    Problem solved.

  • Cannot disable Touchpad on Windows 7.

I am running Windows 7 and I want to disable the touchpad. When I try to disable it in Device Manager, the option 'Disable' is not clickable. When I try 'Delete' option, it says I have to restart my computer to apply the changes, but after that I restarted my computer, the Touchpad is still active.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I got an even hard to disable touchpad, and I had the problem in this way. If possible, connect an external mouse into a USB port, then open the Touchpad control properties tab and look for a framework written something like this: disable the Touchpad when an external mouse is detected.

Go back to Device Manager, and then try to disable the Touchpad. As an external mouse is already connected so I have a registered pointing device, Windows would let me disable the Touchpad without reinstalling on the next reboot.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P300-1 year - Touchpad problem with AC adapter / CC

I have a laptop Satellite P300-1 year and from the beginning (two weeks)
I have a touchpad problem: it will not immediately responsive and the pointer shakes when pressing the key. Very often, it freezes for only one or two seconds.

It's VERY annoying. A USB mouse works perfectly.
I tried to reinstall the drivers of the ALPS, tried Synaptics ones, just try Windows Vista drivers: no way.

Now, I found the reason: this question is present only when the laptop is powered by the AC adapter / CC.
With the battery, the touchpad is perfect.

I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they do not change the AC adapter if I don't mean before a full system restore!
Is it not more simple just try with a new adapter and then only, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?

    Anyone had this same problem?

    > I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they do not change the AC adapter if I don't mean before a full system restore! Is it not more simple just try with a new adapter and then only, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?

The point is that your laptop should be always verified using the Toshiba factory setting.
Why? Because the ASP wants to make sure that this issue is not related to a software problem (compatibility problems with applications 3rd part). Software problems are not covered by the warranty.

In addition the ASP will always recover the laptop before the verification of the pieces of equipment to malfunction. Therefore, you should always back up your data from the HARD disk until you send the laptop to check.

I recommend you to reinstall the operating system using the Toshiba recover disc and then check if the problem appears.
If yes you can contact ASP and could provide all the necessary details for only one technician.

    Good bye

    cannot disable touchpad

    Hi hillarybell,

    ·         What I have

s of the brand and model of the laptop?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         What happens when you try to disable the touchpad?

Most laptops have a function key (FN) which can be used in combination with other keys for example FN + F2 or FN + F7 to disable or enable the touchpad.

You can also disable the touchpad in Device Manager. Follow these steps:

    (a) click Start, run type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

    (b) in Device Manager, expand mice and other pointing devices and locate the touchpad.

option c) right click on the touchpad and click disable . Click OK.

You can also consult the manual of the laptop for more information and help.

  • Disabling TouchPad G570 problem

    Hello!

I recently bought a new laptop of Lenovo G570 and immediately updated the BIOS (so I can't say if it worked before). Everything seems to work perfectly, but I found that the Fn - F6 (toggle the touchpad) does not work and the TouchPad is stuck on. It's really bothering me, is this a problem of BIOS or just wrong configuration of Windows?

I finally found the problem. It is the Synaptics driver.

I don't know why, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled and Fn - F6 works perfectly.

Thank you for your support and advice.

  • Satellite Z30 - A - 1 d 0: No. Wlan after fashion 'sleep' / touchpad problem

    Hello!

I bought this laptop in early September and I am super happy with it, but there are two little things that annoy me and I was not able to fix yet:

    (1) exit standby or sleep mode, it is re - connect never automatically for the wireless on it's, I have to do it manually every time. Windows wireless works well, so this isn't it, but what is?

    (2) sometimes the touchpad will stop working randomly and I have to use a mouse or restart to fix it. I reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad. Turning the touchpad/disable using function keys does not resolve the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 pilot was published on the Intel page, and looks like this driver is more recent than the one provided in the Toshiba page.

Here you can get the latest version of the driver:

Currently I have a series of Satellite T110-107 and have problems with the touchpad.

I start the computer and the touchpad works very well for a few seconds, after that, the touch pad stops working to full capacity.
If I wander my fingers on the touchpad and the pointer does not move, sometimes it will move up and down, but not as it should.

It is a common problem, or is it a hardware problem... or is it the fact that I'm just not accustomed to having the correct settings on windows7?

    Hello

I found a few tips and tricks that you should try.

First, you must change the sensitive touchpad settings to lower the level.
Go to control panel-> mouse and all the settings for the touchpad to the value has a less sensitive level.

You should also right click Synaptics Pointing Device (in the taskbar) and get in the middle of the page Double click speed on.
Move the slider to half way down the beach. This should help you too.

Last but not leas, you will need to disable zoom pinch.
Go to the icon in the lower right corner Synaptics pointing device, click on 'The pointing device properties', click on the "Device settings" tab, then the settings button. Uncheck "Enable Pinch Zoom" under "Pinch Zoom".
