Re do the initial computer configuration

I have a brand new computer that came with Win 8.1 preloaded.  During the initial Setup, I used express install rather than custom.  I want to start over.  If I use the "all delete and reinstall Windows" I'll lose the preloaded operating system?  If so, how to reset the initial configuration?

No, he'll just do a factory restore the original configuration. Windows 8.1 will be exactly as you have it factory again.

Press the Windows key + i

Click on change PC settings > Update & Recovery > Recovery > all delete and reinstall Windows

  • Moving the virtual computer configuration file and work on the clone of the model

Using the VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator to move disks from different NFS data warehouses when cloning a model looks very good work.  However, the Virtual Machine configuration file and the location of work remain on their original NFS data storage, not moving with the root of the drive.

If this move not all together, or am I missing a step here?

    Thank you

    Scott

Specifying the "data store" in VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator specifies the location of the VM virtual disks only. To move the virtual machine, it might also be necessary to specify "datastore" property of "VirtualMachineRelocateSpec. If this is not specified, the current data store is used to store the files of the virtual computer.

  • Electronic change of address in the initial computer set in place

    Hello

My computer is earlier, bought in 2007. Inspiron notebook. When I originally put in place, I entered my email address from this time. My email has changed since then, and I would change it in the computer system. I don't know, I don't know where to look for that apparently. That he asks questions when I want to send an email from a Web site. Can someone tell me where to look for this change to my current e-mail address?

    Thank you if you can

Since you marked that you have Windows Vista, it shouldn't be any e-mail address linked to your computer itself.  Are you talking about the program "Windows Mail" perhaps?

  • Accidentally selected 32-bit instead of 64-bit to the initial configuration

I chose accidentally 32-bit instead of 64-bit to the initial configuration. The computer (Satellite L630) came with a disc. If I create a recovery disc it will allow me to select 64-bit or it will create just once for a 32-bit system? Is there another way that I can return to the initial configuration?

What model of laptop you have (L630-xxx)?

Create recovery DVDs and test. You should not wait for a response, just to test it.
You can also try to start installation of recovery of HARD drive, just to see what will happen.

  • Whenever I start the computer I lost the wireless capability. I get error WZC "871122". I then start the automatic Wireless Configuration service. Is there something I can do if I can't do it every time that this?

    Continually 871122 WZC error.

    Hi Shane,

Looks like you have (or had) 3rd party software that previously managed your wireless connections, so casting service windows does not start automatically.

    See the following Article in the Microsoft KB, see if it suits it for you;

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/871122

    More precisely:

If your computer or your wireless network card came with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type ncpa.cpl and click OK.
    2. Click on network connections.
    3. In network connections, select your wireless connection, and then click change settings of this connection.
    4. On the wireless networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network checkbox.

To start the automatic Wireless Configuration service, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then click OK.
    2. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.
    3. In the list of Startup type , click Automatic, and then click apply.
    4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

Let me know how you go.

  • After trying to use Fix - It to fix XP does not recognize the USB key, had to go back to the last good configuration and computer charge always VERY slowly. What's past and how to fix it?

Windows XP SP3 has ceased to recognize a USB flash drive and card reader that he always acknowledged in the past. I tried to use Fix - It to correct the problem. Fix - It is then asked to restart the computer. When the computer is restarted, it would not load. After waiting almost two hours, I restarted with the last good configuration. Then reloaded, it took nearly an hour. Before using the Fix - It, the computer was loading in less than five minutes after a reboot. There a lot of things on it. What can I do now to solve the problem posed by Fix - It and also correct the problem with XP recognizes does not flash drives?

    Hi lental,

    ·         Have what fixit you tried?

    ·         Do you have an error message when you try to start the computer in normal mode?

    ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

    ·         You're able to boot in safe mode?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Method 2: Follow the steps in the article.

My computer is stuck in the loop "Update Configuration". Boots only in safe mode. I tried to do a system restore, but an error message appears that says:

  • locking the computer: if not using computer for a while, it locks and requires the initial password to get in

So do not use computer for a while, it locks and requires the initial password to get back in. When it becomes available, we've been thrown off internet, or another program we are.

I don't know why Mr. Murphy suggested a system restore. Maybe he interpreted your post differently I did. You have your screen standby/power options defined on too short a time. You can also disable the requirement for a password during the recovery.

Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and click on personalize. To customize the applet opens. Click the screen saver. Change the timeout to something reasonable like 10 or 20 minutes. You will see where you can clear the check box next to the "password required on curriculum vitae... ».

Now do the same in the (Control Panel) Power Options applet. This link contains pictures showing you how to disable this option:

Just a niggling question that I can't get an answer for.

What happens when a Group Policy object has some computer configuration settings that are the same as some user configuration settings?  Of course applied at startup computer settings and user settings are applied when the user logs on.  I just assume that user configuration settings will override the computer configuration settings?

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. The description of your problem, I understand that you have questions about group policy that when we connect to the computer not user configuration, settings replace the computer configuration settings. Please correct me if I misunderstood.

  • My desktop with W7 home premium HP computer does not start beyond the initial screen of HP.

I had been doing "Master Boot Record error press any key."  for the latest two boots.  Press any key boot the computer and initialized in W7.  But, when I tried to start the computer again, he did not get beyond the initial HP screen with choice... F10, esc, F11, F12, and F9.  By pressing the keys are not going anywhere.  When I pressed ESC, I got "Loading Boot Menu... ', , but does not load the start menu. I tried to boot from a DVD, but the DVD/burner burner did not run.

When the computer is turned on, the fire HD came a few seconds... .but then nothing.

    Solution?

    Thanks again, Hanspuppa.

I found the problem.  I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled.  It seems to work OK now.
