Re: Emoji & symbols

MacBook Air v10.11.4 / iTunes 12.3.3

Hello..

How to use Emoji and symbols in the Edition of iTunes menu?

How are they used in iTunes on a Mac?

Thanks in advance!

Carolyn

I use iTunes 7.5 + Mavericks and emoji do not appear in the Edit menu. I was able to copy and paste an emoji in a TextEdit window for the comment tag to read information in a piece of music iTunes and it appeared in my window of General library on this line.  I then entered the emoji in the search field and he finds that the beach.  I guess that's how to "use"; enough, as much as you would for any keyboard character.

  • Key combination to bring up the emoji & symbols

It's driving me crazy.  There must be a simple answer, but I can't understand it.

on my imac, the key combination to bring up the viewer characters is command-option-t.  on my macbook pro, it's the control-command-space.  both machines run the same system (latest version of el capitan).  It's a real pain because I regularly use both machines and I can NEVER remember what combination works on which computer.  where is this combination set?

    Thank you.

control-command-space is the correct key sequence. What version of Mac OS X you are using on your iMac? What applications do you use when you try to access emoticons?

What is the police & the key combination to get the male and female symbols?

Edit menu: Emoji & symbols. In the search of the character Panel window, enter the male and the female and male unicode symbols appear in the central panel. When you double-click one of these symbols, it will be inserted at the insertion point in the Pages.

There is no special police and the key combination for these symbols. They are members of the category of the pictographs found in the left panel of characters. You can add this element of the customizations... and the gear icon category menu.

These characters can be entered directly if you selected Unicode Hex entry (System Preferences: keyboard: Input Sources) the menu Finder entered in the menu bar and pressing option + 2642, or option + 2640, male and female symbols, respectively.

  • Symbols from the fraction of typing on El Capitan

How is - a type a symbol of fraction in El Capitan eg.3/4?  If you get to the bottom of the palette "Emoji & symbols", there are roughly all of the symbols under the sun except fraction symbols.

In your menu bar, go to "Show Emoji & symbols.»  On the left side, you should see a list of categories of symbols.  You should see one called "numbers - all."  If you do not, in the upper left corner, you should see a gear with an arrow.  Click on it and select 'Customize list.'  Add it to your list of groups of characters.  Open this group, and then scroll to the bottom.  You should see a bunch of fractions.  Double-click the one you want to use.

    ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾

Alternatively, if you don't want to go through all this rigamarole, simply type the fraction.  Safari should change automatically to normal type.

  • How to find the percentage, division and the other half sign on my iMac

Please can you help. How can I do per cent, of division and half of the signs on my iMac [El Capitan]

There are simple shortcuts per cent and division:

    SHIFT % + 5

    ÷ Option + /.

As the ½ side, there is no shortcut to it, but you can use the Emoji keyboard and symbols.

You will need to activate it in the keyboard preferences (System preferences - keyboard - put a check mark next to display keyboard, Emoji, and viewers of symbol in the menu bar). After you select it, you can use shortcut ⌃⌘Space to open this keyboard or Edit - Emoji & symbols.

If you do not ½ character in this toolbar, you can search by key word "half" and add it to your favorites for quick access.

  • display the fonts in the keyboard Viewer?

. Once upon a time, Mac, you could show the keyboard Viewer, select a font and the keyboard icon would show characters or glyphs, say, Zapf dingbats, the keyboard scheme. Adding shift would chow additional characters. This seems to be gone in the Mavericks. All I want to do is find which keyboard key generates an icon of the right hand in a selected font. How do I do that? [Question 2: what happened to the ease of use in my Mac?]

To make the dingbats and other symbols, you must use the character Viewer (Edit > Emoji & symbols).  Extend version complete, go to the gear wheel, select Customize and check the boxes of Unicode and other categories.  At the entrance to double click or drag and drop to the central region.

Find one of these simple and straight quotes, select it and press Control + E to preload find them with this character. Press Command-F to start the installation of find/replace. He already shows a found number.

In your Edit menu, select the last entry in the menu, Emoji & symbols. In the search window, enter u + 2019, which is the Unicode sequence for the right, only the (smart) quote. This symbol appears in the central character of the character Viewer Panel. Click in the field replace find/replace tool. Now, in the character Viewer, double-click this quote on the right, unique to add it directly to the window replaced. Click on replace all. Fact. If there's No straight apostrophes that you want to keep, you may step through your document with the replacement process.

  • Preferences of the keyboard in the different Yosemite of Mavericks?

I have a friend that I am trying to explain the various keyboard options. I have the Mavericks, and he has Yosemite. As usual everything we are discussing, he insists that everything works differently in Yosemite from how it does in the Mavericks, and I'm not convinced of that. He refuses to see my screenshots showing how to access viewers characters and keyboard, text-string substitutions, choose from a menu of alternative keyboards. He's right? This will also affect my future decision of the opportunity to jump from Mavericks still in ElCapitan on the road, so I have a personal interest in the issue as well.

A difference is that starting with 10.10.3, Apple has changed the menu item to get the character Viewer, called Edit > special characters, Edit > Emoji & symbols.  It seems that some users of the baffles.

I think that how you add some input sources may have changed to check boxes in the Mavericks to use a + button, then a button 'Add' in Yosemite, but I'm not sure about that.   This is how works the El Capitan.

At some point the substitution of text string grid has ceased to have a list of predefined options and became empty, if you were to manually compose their first.  This is how works the El Capitan.

Otherwise I think it's basically the same.  Maybe your friend could send you screenshots of its system in order to see how the different, it's actually?

  • Substitution of text in the Terminal

The feature of substitution of text in Mac OS X is an interesting and useful feature. I see that we can use this feature in applications such as TextEdit. However, is there a way that we can use this function in the terminal application?

I use this feature of system preferences > keyboard > text

OS: Mac OS X El Capitan

I can't imagine what you're trying to do.

If, for example, you try to insert the symbol ½ on the line of your terminal, you can use the menu of the Terminal to go to Edition > Emoji & symbols and insert it there.
