Re: Equium A200-1V0: Vista won't load - system restore does not

Toshiba Equium A200-1V0, purchased January ' 08
Vista Home Premium

Upgrade office 2007, rebooted fine, saved all the files. I went looking for vista security updates & Office including. Net3.0 - pc crashed during installation. F8 to repair pc & system restore to front office installed. everything seemed well & rebooted ok so I have backed up all critical files.

reinstalled office 2007 & vista hanging on the required reboot.

Try to load in safe mode & vista hangs at crcdisk.sys. It was suggested to remove all pcmcia & 1394 drivers, but the switches/s/p do not work in command prompt so I can't be sure enough to find them all to delete or rename.

F8 for pc repair & while the menu appears, it is very slow to get there.
Startup Repair detects no problem, System Restore won't work, so assuming that restore lost points (there were a few elders before the one I went to). Command prompt will run.

Toshiba has provided a system restore disc, but crashes after language selection. It was suggested that the disk was duff, so I downloaded the ISO to a disk of vista without the extras toshiba restore & that said it is loading & then sits right on the blue/green screen of vista.

I have a basic family official OEM of Vista editing copy for a new machine, I do build, so tried to boot from a full installation of windows (without formatitng) - this also hangs on the blue/green screen of vista. This is my first to face with a laptop without a correct installation disc, so if I format & reinstall the will I lose the recovery partition?

Any other ideas of what to try?

Hello

I think that it s nothing wrong with the software, but with the hardware
If the reinstallation of Vista is not possible then this could be caused by a hardware problem
I can only suggest on the malfunction of HARD, RAM disk. Everything is possible

If I you would be then I would format the whole HARD drive I would be to delete all partitions and would try to reinstall the operating system from the recovery CD

If it is not possible, then you should ask the ASP in your country for a control from laptop s!

Good luck

  • Acer Aspire laptop with Vista Home Basic Edition does not, System Restore does not, sfc, find corrupt files but do not repair. Need help!

Hi, I have an Acer laptop Aspire with Vista Home Basic Edition that came pre-installed, so no records only the disk hard drive partition.

I turned on my laptop today and it starts but the loading bar of stalls at the black screen with "(c) Microsoft Corporation" and dragging green. The slide bar will continue to drag, but nothing else happens which means that I understand even as much as the login screen. I rebooted and tried Windows recovery, but the only remedy to what he suggests is a restoration of the system, which does not have any point, I try to restore it.

To remedy this, I have connected in safe mode and ran the SFC command prompt. It scans my system and told to find corrupted files, but he can't heal some. This is where my knowledge limit runs out. I don't know how to fix the files that the SFC cannot. (Also I created a journal using the findstr command prompt and checked but it say anywhere that it was unable to fix it so I'm not even sure how to identify corrupted files)

As it's an Acer laptop, Aspire I'll try their eRecovery tool to return my computer to factory settings, but it won't work in safe mode, and as I said I can not connect normally. I tried alt and F10 at the initial boot screen when I turn on, it loads the windows files and shows the Acer "Please wait a moment" screen and then nothing happens again.

I can't afford to get it fixed, and there is no chance I can get a new laptop. Any ideas/help? Thank you.

    Hi Bridget,

If there is not a restore point for the date you want to restore, you will not be able to restore to that date. Follow these steps to repair the files that were not repairable with SFC: If the SFC tool can not repair a file

You can't do a restore point for the last week, today.

You can do a Restore Point for today, so that next week, if necessary, you can restore to today.

Think about it: How can you make a Point of restoration today something happened in the past.

You should have in the past, if space allowed in SR, to come back to today.

  • System Restore does not work and vista freezes for the screen of microsoft corporation. I can not load even safe mode

    Hello

A few days ago my laptop started to freeze. I noticed that the system recovery tool did not work either and now it's even worse. When I turn on my laptop

It goes back to a black screen and the freezer. I tried the recovery since the start of the loading system, but it just says loading files and changes to the screen of microsorf corporation and still works.

Sometimes when booting, it would say that the laptop was turned hard and give 2 options to start the computer normally or start recovery performance. When I press any button, the laptop freezes and must be activated manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I got a SONY VGN-SR140D laptop, when I try to start the system. It behaves as follows:

After past the Sony logo it enters a black screen with an indicator of underscore flashing on top of the left hand and remains there goes no where.

I try to press F8, it does not work. However I still be able to get into the bios.

I use windows vista DVD to start the system and perform the Startup Repair, but it shows that there is no error. Can I use the memory diagnostic tool to check the memory, but it will not display any errors. Therefore, I use the command prompt to perform the disk check, it displays no error.

After all, I'm trying to restore to the last point, it shows that I don't have a restore restore point. As a result, I am stuck here, please help.

    Hello

Looks like there is some kind of hardware problem. Check with a real store of the computer (not the leeks and pics
at a Best Buy or other department stores) or the Sony Support.

Data may be saved by placing the hard drive on another computer as 2nd car, or in a
box external USB drive - or you can copy the data to removable media such as CD, DVD.
    or other USB keys.

You should be able to do a clean install of Windows which would require programs to be reinstalled
and the data restored from backups (see above). That might not work system exists without repair.

  • Computer won't start; System Restore does nothing

After downloading and installing Service Pack 2, I can't restart the system.

Restart with the repair of the system has no effect - a few tracks.

System Restore is also no help.

    Hello

    1. have you tried to start the computer in safe mode?

2 have you tried to restore from the system recovery options?

I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and check if you can start:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are not able to start the computer in safe mode, then do restore from the system recovery options and check if that helps:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-Vista

    It will be useful.

Start in safe mode did not help.  The computer wnt in a mode of repair without end, without any results.  I finally got a memory diagnostic option (F8 or F12 - can't remember which - of the splash screen) and ran it for the hell of it.   Somehow, when it is finished, the computer started upward.  I did a system restore and I thought that was OK.  Then I met several different errors and finally gave up. All the problems started with me trying to upgrade to Vista Service Pack 2.  The installation failed (twice).

I've upgraded to Windows 7 (from Vista) and am happy so far.

Thanks for the help.  Good to know he's experts there.

  • Vista Premium System Restore does not work

    Bought a Toshiba laptop Satelite (L505D-S5965, processor AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-65, 3 GB SDRAM, 250 GB HDD) with Vista Home Premium.  I have 195 GB of free space.  Everything works well except the system restore.  Impossible to restore using the restore created during Windows updates, to get points the error message after the system restore SEEMS to work and reboots the system;

"System restore has successfully completed.  Your computer system files and settings did not change.  An unspecified error occurred during system restore.

The message also occurs when you select the option "cancel the system restore".  Toshiba is puzzled and feels that I can have discovered a vulnerability in Windows.  I have trouble believing that this would be a flaw in Vista and it has never been reported before?  I just returned from a laptop for the same model, thinking that it could be a hardware problem, but same problem occurs on both systems.

It is a nice laptop and I want to keep if you could please help me solve this problem with the system restore.  Thank you

    Hello dad2,.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

Running sfc/scannow is a good starting point. Include other posibilities your antivirus interferes with him, in which case starting in safe mode would allow him to run. You could test this by disabling your antivirus software, try to restore as well.

    Hope this helps Chris.H

  • How can I get or create a windows vista recovery disc? My system restore does not work!

Attempted to purchase the HP recovery Dics... Has said that Vista is obsolete!

You can read the product key on the COA at the base / side of your system? If so go here "Microsoft Downloads wiki":

Follow the instructions to make a USB bootable stick for Vista, and then select 32-bit or 64-bit according to availability of the driver and the amount of RAM you have etc.
You will need your key and you will need to activate by phone. I give full instructions doing so here 'a clean install of Windows Vista/7 wiki:
The clean install above applies to a Dell system; that you do not use a Dell when I say press F2 or F12 (step 6), you'll probably need to press another button. In step 4 you will need to go to go on the site of HP opposes the Dell one. Step 11 ignore any mention of specific software Dell mentioned however the recommended software mentioned is always useful.
Note for Vista I only did a Dell via this method, and it worked fine. I couldn't try all other systems because the COA is faded and product keys were unrecognizable. For Windows 7, however I did 2 HPs through this method and many valleys.
You can also look on eBay for reinstallation of Vista HP DVDs, but they can be hard to find.
  • Vista 64 system restore does not find Drive

I have vista 64 and I am unable to create a restore point. It is a RAID 5 array with 1 to 3 discs. The system works fine but when I try to create a restoration he cannot find the c:

The restore point must be on another partition other than Windows. If all three drivers are configured together in a RAID 5 array that make up the C partition, then you will not be able to backup to it.

A good option, if you use "Hardware" RAID 5, would be to reduce the C partition and partition D... If that's what you choose to do.

If you use software (Windows) RIAD 5, you "pourrait" power the same thing... have not tried to "Cut" a RIAD 5 partition on disks.

I hope this helps. Mark <> Microsoft Partner
