  Unfortunately, your M40 was an OEM XP Home Edition and Onenote installation. This means that products are 'grouped' and you should have a set of recovery CDs or DVDs for you to restore the system in case of hard drive failure or system get damaged somehow.

  Unless you have been provided with a separate recovery for Onenote CD then the only way you can restore is to completely restore the entire system OEM (including XP Home Edition).

  Your other option is to buy your own copy of Microsoft, in which case you will have a non - OEM version that you can then install regardless of the operating system.

  A few things to note.
  InDesign is a professional page layout program and the price is accordingly.  You can 'buy' IDCS6 for $699, or you can pay $20 per month (annual contract) for IDCC, who will you have access to IDCS6.

  Pagemaker in InDesign conversions can vary widely. Some may be almost on the spot, others may be a confused mess.

  Some people have talked about Serif page plus (about $120), which will not open Pagemaker documents, but will be supposed to be editing pdf files. I have not tried it myself so I don't know how a good or bad, that is.

  Whatever you do, if you still have access to an xp with Pagemaker system make high-resolution pdf copies of all document Pagemaker than you think you'll need.

  I had exactly the same problems as you... I wish I could be more specific in my answer, but that's... I was getting the same gook gibberish and then nothing. I found the answer was shut down and it is the rotating connection/disconnection process that makes the difference. I think (I wish I had paid more attention now, but was to tired enough so try anything lol) after you install the printer, just turn off, turn on the laptop, plug in usb/printer then turn on printer... BUT... he could have... turn it off everything, plug in usb/printer, turn on laptop - when finished start the system turning on the printer. As you can tell I can't be sure what combination and why, but it certainly worked for me... am now able to connect way anywhich impression I connect :-) so persevere with combination and I hope you find it working for you :-)

• I am owner CS6 on my old laptop and that you can't find the disks.  How can I get it back and install on my new laptop?

  I have the serial number for CS4, and I have the box for CS5, but cannot find CS6.  However, CS6 is installed on my old laptop.  I'm moving to a laptop more recent and discovered the absence of records.  I've probably stored in my desktop and can't find them now.  In fact, the office is a disaster because my husband died and I can't find anything!  Oh well, maybe the printer, but that's all.  Any suggestions?  I don't want to start paying $50 a month for a subscription or even $20.  I want CS6 here.  Is there a download online for the owners?  I think I can get the serial number on CS6 which is installed on my old laptop.

  Have you tried to go to the Lexmark site and see if it is has updated drivers for Windows 7 for your specific printer model?  In addition, if they do not have those for Win7, you can try to use the Vista drivers (not guaranteed).  Remember, if your printer is a former model, she has no drivers for the newer versions of Windows.
