Re: How to install Windows XP Home on a Satellite L40 - 17R

I bought a laptop Satellite L40 - 17r without Windows installed and the store didn t give me all the drivers also.
When I check your "how to install windows XP on a L40.pdf. It says to download the driver package that I can't find on your website.

I have a Windows XP Home genuine SP2, but I can t install as WXP does ' t find the hard drive.
I'd be the appropriate driver package to install Windows XP on my laptop.

If I have an external floppy drive can't, I used a USB drive external hard also add the necessary drivers so that Windows XP can see my hard drive (160 GB HARD DRIVE (5400 RPM) SATA).

Thanks for your response
Xavier

Hello Xavier

I think installing WXP on L40 laptop is most asked in recent months. I recommend to check this forum category and you will find answer to your question. If you have no floppy, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Solution is Nlite software.

Use as search terms in the advanced search option and you will find so many threads with exact explanation on its use.

  • How to install Windows XP Home SP2 to a Dell 755 Tower comes with Vista Business installed?

    OK guys,

I aquried a used Dell 755 minitower that had wiped HARD drive, but originally shipped with Vista Business installed o/s. This computer still had the sticker code product key for Vista Business on the computer.

I have a Windows XP Home SP2 OEM disc with a product code and tried to install it on this computer, but I get an protection windows with a blue screen error whenever I tried.

I have a Vista Home OEM disk basic with its own key code product. The computer has allowed me to install this operating system, but not would allow me to use its product key code, but would allow me to use the old Vista Business key product code that was on the computer and complete the installation. Everything was fine, but I just don't like Vista o/s and I would like to install my OEM Windows XP Home SP2 to this computer and high grade it to SP3.

In dealing with this computer, I discovered it would allow me to load Windows XP Pro just find, but I was using a copy borrowed this o/s and had to uninstall if I could return it to its owner. I also borrowed a copy of Windows 7 OEM I installed in this machine and it works just fine, but I had to uninstall it to return to its owner.

I still want to know why I can't install Windows XP Home Edition for this machine.  Does anyone have information about this situation or a way to solve it?

    Btk (billy the kid)

Looks like the drive you borrowed your friend had a SATA driver integrated into it.  What you can do, is go into the BIOS and change the AHCI to IDE mode.  This should allow you to install XP.  Or you could use a floppy disk and install the driver by pressing f6 during installation.

Don't forget: OEM keys are related to the original motherboard enabled on.

  • Blue screen when you try to install Windows XP Home Edition on Satellite L350D-11 has

    Hello
When I try to install Windows XP Home (including SP3) on my new L350D-11 has a blue screen after loading the drivers.
When booting with Kubuntu Live CD (8.x) appears an error message: / sbin/modprobe out anomalous.

At least I need Windows XP because of some programs that do not work under Vista. Is it possible to install XP?

    Hello

Hmm I think the BSOD appears because you didn t add SATA drivers in the Win XP operating system.

However, you can try to install Win XP on your laptop without the use of the SATA driver, but you can change the SATA AHCI in the BIOS in compatible mode.

    Check it out!

  • How to install Windows XP Home on Satellite A300?

Please help me! How to reformat and install the operating system Windows XP Home for Satellite A300?
Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you...

    Hello

First you need to download xp drivers: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Second, you must create the floppy or custom installation CD of Windows XP with integrated storage drivers. the custom installation CD, you can use Nlite http://www.nliteos.com/. There are guides in different languages, so you won't have a problem to create a. Don't forget it will have to include "Storage drivers", without them, Setup does not recognize the hard drive.
    Third install XP :)

But be aware, you may encounter some problems, as audio doesn't work do not (updated Windows XP specific need or Service pack 3), some Fn keys not working do not, some unrecognized hardware and so on... You really have to patient when installing XP on new laptops. So good luck

(Tip: download all readers and store it because it is quite possible that the LAN/WAN connection will not work without a driver)

  • How to install Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit?

Hello! Can someone tell me how can I make Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit to 64-bit?

    Here's my question: -.

    1. I bought a version of Windows Vista Edition retail family Premium, the package has only the 32-bit support (DVD). I found a few website say that the product key for the retail version of Windows is for 32-bit and 64-bit, as long as we use 32 - bit or 64 - bit on a single computer at a time. If I'm wrong, anyone could answer my question?

    2. now, I plan to move from 32 bit to 64 bit, my problem is that the version sold at retail of Windows that I purchased only contain 32-bit media:-

    (a) is there a way I could install the 64-bit Windows?

    (b) is it possible I could get 64-bit support?

    (c) could I use media in Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit retail a friend to install on my computer? And after installation, I can activate Windows with my product key?

Looking forward to the responses, thank you.

Do you a clean install from 32 bit to 64 bit.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsvista/1033/ordermedia/default.mspx

Link above is how you get 64 bit DVD, if you have a retail license.

You can use any Microsoft Vista 64-bit DVD and use your 32 bit key as you say it's Vista Retail

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    How can I downlod install.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    or

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • How to install Windows XP Home on a Qosmio X 500?

    Hello

I find windows 7 especially frustrating so I want to dual-boot with Windows XP.

So I tried to install XP, but I get a BSOD after the installer does its initial copy of files (before the bit where you specify which partition to install on). At first, I thought that it might be because I need drivers SATA wake in the installation so that it can detect the hard disks. But it does not work. So now, I'm at a lost as to why I can't install it? Is it to do with the hidden partition on the laptop which was set up to store the backup image of the system?

Anyone able to tell me if its possible to install XP on and if so how?

My Qosmio X 500 is the Australia.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    > Other experts could help tell us if we can install Windows XP on Toshiba Qosmio X 500 Series or not?
I m not really an expert, but I think that Windows XP on Qosmio X 500 is not possible because there are no drivers on the official website of Toshiba. This means that you will not be able to use all functions on X 500 because it s Windows 7 supported only.

But why you want to change obsolete Windows XP? Are not satisfied with Windows 7 or what?
I use Windows 7 for 9 months now and in my opinion it really awesome OS s. Windows 7 is the future because it of stable and fast. All new material is designed for Windows 7. ;)

  • BSOD occurs when I try to install Windows XP Home on the Satellite A100-VA5

I got a brand new Toshiba A100 - VA5 Notebook, here in Toronto in the Canada.

Laptop came with Vista. I don't have a problem with vista, but there are some software that I need for my work and they do not work on Vista.
I decided to install Windows on a partition, but when I run the XP installation CD, it errors on a blue screen with the error below

The Blue error screen I get when installing WXP stop is

    Stop: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF76450BF, 0XF7A91208, 0XF7A90F080)

I searched on Internet forums, some people have had similar problems on a computer no-Toshiba with XP and the problem was caused because the XP installation CD does not have S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? Which after pressing F6 at the start-up of the plant, solved the problem.

However, I was unable to find the drivers for the controller S - ATA Raid on Toshiba support site, and I don't know where to find them. Someone knows something like that and it is due to S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? And if the answer is Yes, where can I find them since?

    Thank you

    Omer

    Hello

Everything you need you can find on Toshiba Canada support page http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp#
When you choose your part number do not forget, you use PSAANC-VA505C number (check also on the laptop label in the lower corner of your laptop).

Now, back to the blue screen. As far as I know for this model of laptop is not necessary to install the S - ATA Raid Controller at the beginning of the procedure of the facilities. For laptops with RAID driver this driver is available on the download page. This driver is not available for your laptop model.
