Re-install Windows 7 on another system

My laptop with Windows 7, it crushed. I got a new office and want to put my Windows 7 on it, but activation will not allow this. How can I get Windows 7 activation now?

I managed to get my old laptop in sort of action using his original Vista recovery disk.
I still have the product keys for the laptop and Vista.
It goes same for Office 2010, which I have not tried to install again.
Thanks, Geoff Smart

  • NTLDR is missing - when you try to install Windows 7 on another hard drive

I have a PC Compaq Presario SR2027X a/w Win XP Media Center Edition SP3 installed.  I downloaded and installed the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to determine if WIN 7 would go on my system.  The airport of Win 7 Upgrade Advisor said that I could install Win 7.  I bought Win 7 32 bit and 2-1 GB PC5300 memory sticks.  I first installed the memory and booted up the system.  Everything worked well.  BIOS has seen the new memory and I have not encountered any error.

I then turning the system off and removed the HDD (120 GB Sata).  I installed another hard drive (160 GB Sata) which had been restructured and ready to use.  The BIOS detects the hard drive and the BIOS has been changed for a start of the OPTICAL drive.  I then placed the WIN 7 32-bit software disk in the OPTICAL drive and saved the changes in BIOS and rebooted the system.  I was expecting to see the normal WIN 7 screens during the installation.  Instead, I got "NTLDR is missing, press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart".

Then I tried pressing ESC during boot to enter the boot menu.  Once in the boot menu, I select the optical drive and now I get the message "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND press ENTER".  I opened and close the optical drive optical drive light lights up, and I then press on enter.  I get the same message on "DISK BOOT FAILURE,...» ».

I built more than 40 PC and have never had this problem.  Is there something unique about Compaq/HP PC's that prevents me to install WIN 7 on another hard drive that is not the original hard drive came with this pc?

HP / Compaq computers are no different from any other computer on the market. You can install Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 on almost all made within the last 7 years.

I think that your problem is due to a failure of CD/DVD drive or disk installation of Windows 7 corrupt or unbootable. Please check that the CD/DVD drive is fully functional and functional as should be. Also, check that your Windows 7 disc is free of errors and that it is bootable. If necessary, you can download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO from HERE and HERE and also download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool.

  • Can I re - install Windows 8 in another computer?

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/support LAPTOP , I PUT ON the COMPUTER WRONG CAN I re - DOWNLOAD AND PUT ON THE 1 I WANTED, ANOTHER laptop

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Yes, you can re - install Windows 8 on a different computer.  Before you re-install in another computer, please make sure that you remove Windows 8 to the computer that you have already installed software license terms Microsoft allows a copy must be installed on one computer only.

To remove Windows 8 of the current computer, you must perform a clean installation of Windows 8. Install with previous operating system drive (Windows 7\ Vista\XP). This removes Windows 8 in the current computer and install the previous operating system.

Note: You may lose all your data when you perform a new installation, so please back up all data before installing the previous operating system.

Once you have removed Windows 8 from the current computer, download Windows 8 in the new computer and install. When installing, please provide the same license key that you used during your first installation of Windows 8. You can also find this key in the purchase confirmation email that you received.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please get back to us and we would be happy to help you.

Then, he contacted an old workman and got two more known keys to work. After entering the Windows activate both would also be invalid. Any ideas?

If they are retail or OEM, the key can be activated on a single computer. Why di you think they can be activated on more than 1 computer at a time?

  • which partition to install windows 7 on new system

I just bought a new laptop without system. I got a copy of windows 7 Home premium 64-bit to put on.

The hard drive is 1000 GB and is divided into 4
Name: Total size: free space: Type
    Disk 0 partition 1 GB 29.3, 29.2 GB system
    Disk 0 partition 2 GB 29.3, 29.2 GB primary
    Disk 0 unallocated space go-go 871.8 871.8
    Partition of drive 0 3: LENOVO_PART 1.1 GB 457.0 MB OEM (reserved)
I know not to touch the OEM, but the marked partition system used allows to install because it is formatted in FaT32 and said it requires NTFS. 2 other partitions are viable, but I don't know which one to use. My instinct would be to go to the primary partition scored because I think that space, it would be OK and keep the operating system from everything that will go on the laptop. But I don't know about you. What do you guys suggest?

The System Partition "Disk 0 partition 1 is where you would put it.

To be honest, I would just remove everything and do a fresh install and create more partitions after.

Are you sure there is no operating system already located on the OEM (reserved) file, you can use to install Windows? Because what is the meaning of keep if you already use a different installation media?

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

Computers laptops Lenovo include a function called the Lenovo OneKey Recovery button, which is used to boot into the recovery environment and to reinstall Windows.

    ---------------------

If you still want to use the installation media you have, follow these steps:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

  • Can I install windows 8 on a system dual boot (XP, 7) and keep the dual boot (XP)?

Can I install windows 8 pro update on a system dual boot (XP, 7 ongoing) replacing of windows 7, but keep the dual boot ability so that I can run the XP apps that only seem to work on XP?

Can I install windows 8 pro update on a system dual boot (XP, 7 ongoing) replacing of windows 7, but keep the dual boot ability so that I can run the XP apps that only seem to work on XP?

Yes, you can use the installation of Windows 7 to qualify for the upgrade to Windows 8.

You can then install Windows 8 on Windows 7 partition and dual boot with XP.

For reference - if the computer had installed XP you could not dual boot with the help of an upgrade of Windows 8.

In addition, to back up important data before installing a new operating system is recommended.

  • Can I install Windows 7 on another computer if the first installation on another computer has been deleted before activation?

Here's my situation: I installed an oem version of Windows 7 on a computer, I've set up - downloaded all the updates. I have not activated yet. Now I changed my mind about the operating system I want to install on this computer. Because the software was not enabled can I remove and install in the future on another computer? Or Microsoft knows somehow I installed the operating system on a computer, even if I do not activate it.

Only the activation records material signature in the Activation of MS servers to compare to reinstall or check the real.  What you have now is an installation not enabled with probable 30 days to activate.

You are wise to wait to be sure because once the OEM version is activated in the EULA, it can be moved to another motherboard.  However since OEM became the only Windows 7 Home or Pro version available there are some reports of agents activating MS make exceptions to move with a good cause.  But this cannot count on.

  • I can install windows 7 on another computer

Hi, can I actually install my windows 7 to a new computer? I bought windows 7 online, and it says I can install it on 3 different computers. I already installed it in my computer and laptop.
If I can't, can I transfer them to my new computer? as this is an old computer so I want to change to a new.

    Thank you.

You probably bought the Windows 7 Home Premium 'Family Pack'

    Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/software/dp/B002MV2MG0

If this is the case, the new computer needs a previous version of Windows installed as the Family Pack is an 'Upgrade' to Windows version and as such cannot be used on a computer that does not have a previous version of Windows installed.

Regarding the tranfering, if the old any has a 'detail' (not a version of the OEM, OEM are preinstalled by the PC manufacturer) version of XP or Vista then the answer is Yes. Install the older version and then use then family pack to upgrade.

If you install the earlier version is practicle not then try the Home Premium Family Pack phone activation.
