Re: Is updated to Bluetooth on Satellite A500-19N possible?

Hello
is it possible to upgrade my A500-19N with Bluetooth?
I have a USB Bluetooth dongle, but I am not satisfied by this configuration.
So I was wondering is it possible to upgrade my laptop, as of many other satellite a500s have BT

Kind regards

I don't think that anyone here can give you a definitive answer.
Generally these updates is not easy because the laptop must be disassembled; BT antenna on the right place (behind the screen) and the cable must be positioned on the right place.
The question is also whether the motherboard on your A500 has prepared for the upgrade of BT.

I fear for all that you need professional help and if someone can help on this subject, as Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.

    Hi @all,

I have a laptop SATELLITE A500-19N. My wlan collapsed on the overalls. Windows (7 65 bit) card says I should activate the hardware switch and the wireless communication is disabled. What I did:

Check the hardware switch: the Toshiba Assist and ConfigFree tool shows the switch works. If I press the switch of the tool recognices it. -> work

installed a linux live cd ubuntu: order of SAI rfkill list all the software bolocked:no and blocked material: Yes -> using fn + F8 succsessfuly toggels software blocked.

Windows: win + x opens windows mobility centen-> activate the wireless button is gray-> fn + F8 does nothing

Windows: installed value-added Package installed, uninstalled, reinstalled-> no change

activated the module with a module of 100% working-> the original toshiba module WiFi without problem in a nother notebook. If I put it in the satellite, it is blocked again. the other does'nt of work package also works in the satellite.

    So my question:

Also disassemble the laptop to control the contactor, it works electrically ok.
Tried to boot into windows and clear cmos. Did not work.

  • Satellite A500-19N - how to install the original Nvidia display drivers?

    Hello

    I use a satellite A500-19n.
Is it possible to install the original drivers (nvidia - mobile) on my laptop?
When I try to install them I have always an error message "no driver found for your hardware"...
There's a Geforce GT 230 M in my computer, so I wonder why this happens...

I want to install the original drivers because they are generally better than the standartdrivers...
    Thanks ;)

    Hello

I advise you to try to install the Nvidia drivers, you must use the pre-tested driver Toshiba as it has heat protection. But anyway if you want to install it, step this link

    Hello

You must verify power WLan settings in Win 7 power management and need to disable the power save for WLan in battery mode

I found a great HowTo but for Vista OS.
But the settings are not really different.

I was so stupid and according to Toshiba Tempro advice that I downloaded the latest BIOS update 1.50 - WIN.
Update stucked at 56%. After hours of no response I've stopped manually.

Now the nb is dead... only for the power supply and fan works... Is there something that needs to be done?

I'm afraid you should contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.
In the future to pay attention to all this and do not touch the well-executed system.

I have 3 years old Satellite P200 and it still works with the original version of BIOS.

    Hello

    > Is it possible to adjust the speed of the fan of this laptop? As I saw in PC Health monitor the fan speed is mainly of 0%, and sometimes it amounts to 70% (on idling) and make a big enough noise

I agree with you, I also own a500-1dn and it makes big noise even while surfing Internet. This forum was suggested to update Bios to reduce the fan noise.

  • Satellite A500 - TV tuner not recognized after installing updates

Recently, I ran a few updates (Windows 7) for Satellite A500 (PSARA9A). It has a built-in tuner & it worked fine until updated. Now when I go to watch television or check it comes up with "No tuner available to meet the demand for courses".

I tried to install the new driver, but I can't tell if he does something. Device Manager me indicates that the latest drivers are installed, but it shows the yellow exclamation point.

    Can anyone suggest anything here?

In my opinion you should try to roll back the OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool.
This should be a quick and temporary solution.
After this check the functionality. I put t know what settings do you use for Win updates installation but I suggest you turn off the automatic option.

Later when you will be informed about available updates checking a little list and if a driver update is listed here don t install. Use the original Toshiba drivers only.

  • Satellite A500-15N: FN keys do not work

    Hello

    I hope someone can help,
The function key does not work in windows (I mean here the keys Fn + F6/7 change the brightness during the windows loading screen). There also seem to be buttons along the top of the keyboard (commodity the power button), but these also does not work and never have (and if they are sposed to light up they don't do that either). To let you know where I am, I received my upgrade to windows 7 and installed as the instructions in the package yesterday, (although I had the lappi for a week, I waited for the upgrade before installing anything) but once it was installed, I found he had installed the 32-bit version After trying to re - install vista 64-bit of the unsuccsesfully partition, I finally have reistalled Windows 7 64-bit DVD upgrade, (I think I should add that when it has finished installing any additional software IE.) Toshiba software, McAfee, etc. was installed)...
I downloaded all the software Toshiba on the site, including the update of the bios (V1.50) and the update of recovery, I searched on the web and the forums and although have managed to install the infrared port that there appear to be no driver for on the dirver for this notebook page, these keys Fn stupid are making fun of me anyway... Please help :D

    THX Telico

PS. I have a Tosh A500-15N and I forgot to say that I tried to do a new installation to see if that would solve the problem, but the ability to recover from the hidden partition is not available on the list, you get to by pressing F8 as windows starts (although the partiotion still exists)

Hey man, you made it so complicated but in fact all it is so easy and it s pitty, that you have not written of this before you start the upgrade procedure.

I did update Win7 on friends Satellite A500 month last successfully. This means, he had the factory settings (Vista 32-bit) and we have installed Win7 upgrade using the Toshiba upgrade kit. Laptop works perfectly.

    Back to your question:
HARD drive recovery option (F8 and repair my computer) is available with the factory only settings.
If I understand you right, you did a fresh install of Win7. This option won't be available more, and the image recorded on the second partition is useless now and can no longer be cast.

You can get it if you reinstall Toshiba recovery image. Have you created any such recovery disc recommended by Toshiba?

I checked Toshiba support and download page and Win7 64 bit is supported on your laptop model and you can do clean install Win7 and install all missing things also. You will be the factory settings but works fine Win7.

If you need more information please let us know.

As far as I know, Toshiba offers a few changes of BIOS options and is not also a part of the BIOS updates.

  • Satellite A500 - update BIOS with dead battery

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500 (PSAR3E) laptop and I need to update the BIOS to the latest version.
Unfortunately, my battery died completely, and I have no chance to get a working one.

I was trying to update the bios all day, but no matter how I try (even created a boot back drive and took command line phlash16, /forceit and so on) it keeps telling me that he needs at least 10% charged battery present.

How can this problem be solved?

    > If I remove the battery, engine update fails, say there is no battery present, if I fix the battery, then update will fail saying the battery must be at least 10% - but he died, this percentage is 0.
And you write about original Win version that you have downloaded from the Toshiba BIOS download page and started in Windows?

To be honest is unclear to me that there is a trick to avoid this situation.
Maybe something stupid, but now, do you really need to install the update to the BIOS?
Is there a problem with your machine?

  • After BIOS update Intel speed step does not not on Satellite A500

I upgraded my Satellite A500 PSAM3E model to the most recent BIOS 1.50, now the Intel speed step does not!

My CPU is always 2 GHz +, I have chagned power Plan to balanced, but no change... with precedent the CPU was about 800 MHz.
When I try to change the Windows 7 power management and set the maximum CPU at 50 or 80% performance, the system hangs.

    Hey Szaby59,

What older BIOS version were you using before update to 1.50?

I also use maximum CPU performance option for ecomode (50%), but it does not work properly.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if use you your own Windows installation or factory settings. Normally, after using the Toshiba Recovery disk you don t have install Toshiba tools more. Everything is preinstalled on your laptop.

  • Dead by Satellite A500-1pj after involuntary Bios Update

    Hello world

A friend of mine bought a new PC laptop toshiba Satellite A500-1pj a month ago. Windows 7 pro 64-bit pre-installed.
Also preinstalled: support software toshiba who - correctly - configured search automatically and installs updates and critical fixes.

Last Sunday this wonderful software recommended an update 'critical' to my friend - she's no expert but a user experienced who can make the difference between an update of the bios (and avoid this!) and a security patch, she agreed to download and install what she believed to be a security update.

Sure, she gave permission to an update of the bios being installed. During the process of updating the machine froze completely. She waited for three hours and then pulled the plug. Guess what: the machine is now completely gone. Does not display without fan, simply nothing.

Hotline support Toshiba told him that his cell two weeks old is not under warranty because this warranty does not cover software 'problems and the Bios updates are software upgrades.

The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...

    My questions:

    (1) the laptop is a Satellite A500-1pj (PSAR9E-01M00QGR) fitted to a phoenix UEFI bios (bios toshiba/phoenix, 1.1.26 update tool is pretty radical - no warning at all! he tried to update me my computer dell laptop, lucky!).
I found some posts on older machines that can be reflashed using a usb disk, hot spare bios back and a combination of keys (Fn + B or Fn + F...). is it possible to do this with a UEFI bios too?

    (2) anyone out there have the same problem?

    (3) any chance of toshiba help us with that issue and prevent others from making the same mistake to understand at least a warning in their bios updates?

    Thanks for your help!

    Tony

    > The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...
    I doubt that
I think that the module ROM BIOS was flashed incorrectly (don't know why) and therefore you can not start the laptop.
This can happen for different reasons, maybe that the update process was interrupted due to a process running in the background, etc.

In order to solve this problem, the ROM module must be flashed again using a special crisis disk BIOS... that's all.

The update of the BIOS is always a sensitive procedure but if everything was done correctly, then update the BIOS must successfully complete.

I found this very interesting and useful to Toshiba and HowTo doc correctly updated the BIOS!
