Re: Mac and HP 8500 duplex printing has

I have exactly the same problem. I have reset the printing system, installed the drivers and created a "Preset". Yet, I must go to the menu settings/options to check the 'duplex' box AGAIN EVERY time in all applications.  I would appreciate a fix. I have a HP Officejet 6500 has more and Mac 10.11.5.

Hey @europas_ice,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have some problems with the duplex option when printing from your Mac OSX 10.11 machine to your Officejet 6500 a Plus e-All-in-One. I can help you with that.

To resolve this issue:

  1. If the printer is connected via USB cable to your Mac, delete it.
  2. Click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
  3. Hold down the CTRL key and click the icon of the printer on the left.
  4. Click on reset printing system.
  5. Restart your Mac.

Now, if you removed the USB cable, plug it. If this is not the case, click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.

  1. Click on the button "+" in the corner.
  2. Click on your printer in the list.
  3. Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
  4. Click on Add.

At this point, the duplex option must remain active. If not, the next step would be to communicate directly with the Apple Support. You can do so by clicking on this link.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to correct the problem of duplex printing, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

    Hello @Coachwell,

I understand that you are no longer able to print duplex from Word on your computer Mac OS X 10.10 to your HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-All-in-One printer. I would like to help you to solve this problem today. Now, just so that you know, because of the age of your printer there is only a generic Apple update HP Driver V3.1 of printing and the analytical base. There is a chance that an Apple update can have performed recently on your computer that can create duplex conflicts of some programs. Therefore, to isolate this problem and solve this problem I will ask you to perform some standard Mac troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Resetting the printing system:

To begin, I will have you reset the printing system on your Mac. Please click herefor instructions on how to perform the reset. When the site opens, follow the steps under "Reset printing in OS X Lion system" because the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. This Reset deletes each printer on your Mac. However, it does not uninstall printers. Therefore, if use you other printers on the Mac, once the reset is complete simply make sure printers are attached via a USB cable or connected network and (+) add hide them po do add not your HP Officejet back in right now.

Once the reset is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Uninstall the drivers and software:

Please click here to find out how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens, select the drop-down list 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8 and OS X v10.9' and follow the steps under two method to complete uninstallation.

Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.

Step 3: Check and repair your Mac disk permissions:

    1. Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    2. Go to the Utilities folder
    3. Open disk utility
    4. Select the hard disk volume, you use (usually on the left)
    5. Select verify disk permissions
    6. Once this process is complete, select repair disk permissions

Step 4: Manually install the driver Package:

Please click here to manually download the package from Apple to HP printer v3.1 driversupdate. Once the site opens click on the download button at the top. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the driver package.

Step 5: Check the Apple updates:

    1. Go to the Apple
    2. Select System Preferences
    3. Select software update
    4. Click update now
    5. Install your available updates
    6. Computer restart

    Step 6: Add the device:

    1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

    2. click on Print & Scan and then check if the name of your printer appears in the printer list.

    3. click on the name of your printer, click the sign minus (), then remove the printer.

    4. click on the plus sign (), click Add a printer or a Scanner, click the name of your printer.

    5. click on the area of use or with the help of Print and then select the name of your printer on the shortcut menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected.

    6. click Add to add the printer to the list.

Edit: Maybe this will help someone else.

Under the printer properties > Device Settings the option to enable manual duplex printing has been set to enabled by default.  Even if it is enabled, the manual duplex option was not available in the print dialog box.  To play today, I put manual duplex to disabled, applied, changes new set to enabled and applied again changes.  Now, I have the manual duplex option in my print dialog box.  Something must have just been shifted after the installation.  Setting and turn it on again worked for me.

I also point out that I have authorized the HP software update web printing for IE, but I don't believe that to be the reason why it works now.

  • Duplex with our laserjet HP4100 and Windows 7 network printing

We have two new HP with Windows 7 desktop computers and you try to use the front and back of our network service HP laserjet 4100 dtn can you suggest the correct drivers or settings please?

Hi, this might be the question why his does not work.

It's a bug in Windows 7. The duplexor is reported as not installed by default, so you'll have to change that.

Go to the Control Panel, find the devices and printers, then click on it. Then right click on your printer icon and choose 'printer properties '. In the new screen go to the "Device settings" tab and under "automatic duplex print unit" set installation options on installed. Should be on is not installed by default, so change installed, then click on apply. Restart the software and perhaps even your computer and check that duplex printing is an option now.

  • Printer duplex printing jam

I have a printer HP laserjet 3700 color works fine. Recently replaced two Windows XP computers with Windows 7 machines and now when duplex printing, the paper jams every time these new machines. It never happened when printing from XP.

I tried the driver PS, PCL5 and PCL6, but the result is the same.

Any ideas? This printer is not compatible with Windows 7. Is there a hardware fault with the printer?

    Thanks in advance

    John

Yes, this isn't the first time I heard of this being a problem of software actually.  There seems to be something to do with Office 2013 because I would be confident enough to assume that you did not have this problem with Microsoft Office 2010.  Here is a link where I solved it before.

"Microsoft Office 2013 - prints once after reboot".

In the above link, it gives instructions on where to go in these different Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs to turn off printer status Notification.

Let me know if you find problems or if this does not work for you.  I really hope this helps!

  • HP officejet 8500 a 909 has - Panel is empty and not print. How to do a reset complete?

    Hello

I have an Office jet of 909 has 8500 printer. It has suddenly stopped working and that the Group of experts on the printer is empty well lit.

Can someone tell me how to do a factory reset full?

    REDA

    Hello rajbala,.
    Welcome to the HP Forums.

It seems that the display on the front panel of your printer has stopped working properly. I will try to help you with this.

Try the following: white control display panel, it deals with basic to display problems troubleshooting and can be useful for you. It can also prevent the need for a reset. If it does not then provide me the model number of the printer, as you said you have a 8500 a which would be an a910a, however you posted a909a. Find out which of the two you would provide you steps.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Loss of wireless connection between Mac and Office jet pro 8500 has more

My printer has been successfully implemented with my mac but loses the wireless connection.

I'm on OS X Lion (but the same problem happened with Snow Leopard).

My router is provided by BT Vision.  Also on the original hub is an apple TV and phone 3 handsets.  I don't know what channels to use them and do not know how to find out.

Network Setup page shows no problem, but the mac cannot connect to the printer.

    Any suggestions please?

If the printer has a valid IP address (not 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.X.X) then it is always connected to your network.

If your router is a BT HomeHub, you're not alone.  A lot of people on these forums have had trouble with them and most of them that I couldn't help.

The only kill-TI-dead solution is to buy a standard router (Linksys or Netgear), attach it to your BT and connect everything to the new router.

How to print an Adobe Reader PDF page in duplex, using a mac and a brother printer?

    Hey Sanford,

Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat allow you to print double-sided if your printer supports this feature. The printer driver controls the options, not of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

Check your printer documentation to see what features your printer supports.

Please see this KB document for the steps double-sided printing. Acrobat, Reader.

    Hello

You can uninstall and then reinstall your printer using the right drivers and installation on the HP Web site information, but I think it's more a physical problem with the ink cartridges and how they were installed, and the configuration.

There are some troubleshooting steps for her it too when you select the correct printer model number.

You have given us a serial number printer, rather than an exact model number

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 A910: printer duplex option forget

I have the duplex unit installed and that you have used successfully for some time.   Are some time I tried to print double-sided, but the option was not in the print window.  I went into the options of the printer and found that the duplex was not checked.  I checked and was able to print two-sided without problem.

Some time later I tried again to duplex, and again once the option wasn't there.  I can reset the option, but very shortly after the OS 'forgets' setting.  Basically, I have to do every time I want to duplex.

This was not always a problem.  It worked fine until a couple of months ago (and Mac OS updates several there).  I have two Macs connected over wi - fi for this printer and Mac have the problem.

    Hey @alhurley,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that you have a few options with the option of double-sided printing associated to your Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-One printer on your computer Mac OSX 10.11. I can help you with that.

Here's how we should be able to fix this:

    1. Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected.
    2. Click your Apple system and print and Scan preferences icon.
    3. Hold down the command key and click the icon of your printer on the left.
    4. Click on reset printing system.
    5. Restart your Mac.

Now connect the USB cable again if you removed previously. Otherwise:

    1. Go to the Apple preferences system, print, and Scan.
    2. Press the button "+" in the lower left corner.
    3. Select your printer from the list.
    4. In the box next to click on Airprint and select your printer from the list.
    5. Click on Add.

One last thing to do now is click on Apple, updates of the system and all the necessary updates.

This should fix the duplex printing option. If not then the next step would be to contact Apple as there is something weird is happening with your operating system.

Please let me know if this solves your problem or if you have any other questions. If not, have a great week!

  • 8500 A910g: double sided printing no longer works on 8500 A910g printer using Mac

Can someone help - double-sided printing stopped working on 8500 A910g printer using Mac?  I used to be able to toggle the menu layout on the printer, but now it is gray out and one side only the default

    Thank you, Rob

    Hi @robgit,

Please check back with the results of your efforts.

You may need to configure the automatic duplexer in the HP printing software.

Discover sone of the procedure described in this document - printing on both sides of the paper (duplex) (OS X). Note: This model of printer supports automatic duplex printing. Scroll down to "How do I duplex automatic if my printer takes in charge?" in the FAQ section.

Please let me know if it helps.

  • HP 2549: HP 2549 and Mac OS x: double-sided printing does not work

    Hello!

I just installed this printer on my Macbook Air and I cannot print double-sided. I tried by USB / wireless (in the case where there is a difference between the two) but no luck.

I followed the advice in this post: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/two-sided-printing-no-longer-availble-...

but I did not tab "driver". I only have "Général", "Levels of power" and "utility." I tried to delete the printer and then add it with HP 2359 and AirPrint not but that does not change.

When I print a pdf document, double-sided printed is greyed out and I cannot change.

What should I do? I already reinstalled the drivers on the HP Web site, I selected all the things that I can install it, but that has not changed anything.

    Thank you.

    Hi @blablaalf,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that two-sided printing does not work with your printer HP 2549 on Mac OS X 10.10. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I assume that your printer is a HP Deskjet 2549, otherwise please reply with the exact type of printer you have. To find product/model number of your printer follow the instructions in this link. Find your model number of the HP product.

Otherwise, if the type of printer you have. According to this guide, print on both sides of the paper (duplex printing). He said: this printer is not an automatic duplex unit integrated, you can always print on both sides of the page to manually reload paper in the paper after printing tray first to print on both sides of the paper.

This is the reason why this option is grayed out.

If you print on letterhead, pre-printed paper or paper with watermarks and pre-drilled holes, the printer prints first the front of the document. Load the paper with the top edge first and the side to be printed facing downwards.
  • I'm on a mac and my printer does not print

I'm on a mac and it sends the document to my printer (Hp Photosmart 4680 all-in-one), but the printer does not print. My printer worked fine and now it will not print. I'm doing something wrong. This has happened once before and I am frustrated with and left for about 2 days, I had tried everything I could think of, unplug the unit for an hour or more, uninstalling and reinstalling, checked ink levels they were very good. Then all of a sudden, he started working again. I turned on my computer and the printer, and surprisingly it comes to start printing. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what do you have? Or someone has any suggestions of what I can hurt!

    Thank you

Make sure that your OS X is healthy:

    1. download and install OS X Combo Update.
    2. download and install the printer driversHP from Apple.

Finally, download the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & Driver" link at the top of this page (if you want).

Do not connect your printer via a USB hub, connect directly to your Mac.
