• Right satellite M305 broken hinge?

  The metal hinge on my laptop is exposed and two sons are also exposed. The small cover that covers the hinge broke a while back and I have no idea when or where it is, just noticed once. The hinge is now coming out and the right side of my laptop is very spontaneous and I fear that the wire will get released and the ruin of my laptop.

• Satellite M30 - possible repair broken?

  My father seems to have broken his laptop (Satellite M30-107), which is the model above.

  When you press the power button it turns on but there is no sound what it is running because I expect. There's no display on the screen. Also the cd drive does not so much need to open manually.

  If I button green light comes on to show so you have power to the keyboard.

  I tried to connect an external monitor, but that does not work either.

  Does anyone have any other ideas I could try? Or know where I could take it to be fixed because it's about 1 week out of warranty :(

  The first thing to try is to remove the ca cable and also the battery so that the laptop is completely isolated from any power source, then leave it for 5-10 minutes prior to re - attach the cable ca.

  Try turning on the laptop so normal and if you have the same problem then discopnnect the AC cable and install the battery and try again feeding.

  If the laptop still does not power on then it is likely to be a problem with the motherboard that will have to be checked by an authorized service center.

  Unfortunately, there is no manual maintenance on the page of Toshiba Europe. Only the authorized service provider got access to such manuals.

  Generally, I have to say that the replacement of hinges is not easy. It s really complicated because the laptop must be disassembled.
  You must remove the mask of the display first and then have to remove the LCD screen before you could see the hinges.

  To be honest I don't recommend trying to replace it with your own hand because you may damage other parts.
  I recommend a visit to a local technician for laptop and I would like to ask for help.

  The recovery CD can be purchased from suppliers of services authorized in your country. These CD s are not expensive.

• Satellite Pro L20 - broken hinge baseplate - where to find the parts?

  First post here, so please excuse the lack of local etiquette.

  My son has a Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with a broken hinge base plate. I'm calling it a base plate that I can not find the name of the part anywhere on the web so far.

  Its obviously the metal plate on the basis that the hinge attaches to.
  You can see it if you remove the battery.

  Nobody knows what is this part and where I could possibly buy one?

  I don t think that the installation or upgrade of the driver may resolve this problem. As far as I know it of not possible to install the USB drivers because the Windows operating system uses own Microsoft USB drivers.
  As far as I know this device supports USB 2.0 and you n t need to install all external drivers. Are you sure that you scan USB 2.0 support?

  After running my M30 5 years without problem, I had a fresh install of windows XP.
  No problem. But now I can't find a few drivers and utlilities. Or those I found does not work.
  is not owrking:
  fn - keys (for brightness and soundvolume etc.)
  -LCD screen saver. My screen fades always if I change powersource.

  The fn keys I really need, since I use my computer laptop a lot with a second screen or projector.
  The control utility of the poweruse on the LCD is pretty handy too. But all I get is a program error.

  I used the cd with the drivers that came with the laptop. But when it does not work I tried a few drivers I found on the toshiba site. But still no luck.

  But the M30 is a former series of notebook and that's why pilots have been moved to the archives.

  Toshiba recommend using this part because the other adapters with different properties may damage the motherboard. All parts and devices, you can order from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

  Satellite M30 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine that this authorized partner can not order the original CD more.

  It will be much better off buying the CD of Microsoft WXP facilities (on eBay it ain't cheap) and you can install WXP yourself. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba supports the page.

  For me, it's the best solution for you.
