Re: Portégé R700 - broadband modem not recognized anymore

Hello

I have a problem with my Portege R700.
In recent weeks the modem internal broadband is most recognized.
I tried several settings and also install the original Image. But the modem is still not available.

Do you have ideas of how to do to correct this.
Maybe after that last updated BIOS (2.20) the modem is hidden...

Does anyone has the same problem?

Best regards
Chris

Which is really strange, especially after the installation of recovery image.

Have you checked the Device Manager? Some unknown device listed here? I can't believe that this modem can go for no reason.

    Hello ghpots,

    ·         What happens when connect cards camera on USB ports, it installs the device drivers?

    ·         What are the changes that you made to your computer, since it has stopped working.

When you connect your devices to the USB ports, check the status of the device in the Device Manager. Check if you see a yellow fringe or exclamations in the Device Manager.

I suggest that you remove and then reinstall all USB controllers.

2 right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click on uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    3. restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers.

Plug in the removable USB storage device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

Check the Device Manager to see if the unit under section USB or other devices. To do this, follow the procedures below:

    Method 1:

    1. click on Start, right click computerand select Properties .

    2. click on Device Manager.

    3. click on the (+) sign next to Universal Serial Bus controllers and next to the peripheral plus other section.

Look for the USB device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers, or under the other devices section.

    4. If the unit is under Bus USB controllers or other devices, click on the reference to the 'unknown' device name, and then click Uninstall to remove the device.

    5. close Device Manager, and then restart the computer.

    6. If the USB device that has problems with software and it has not already been installed, install the software, now follow the planned manufacturer of the directives.

7 reconnect the USB device that had issues and test to see if it works.

The unit should now work correctly. Continue if the device name is not found in the Device Manager.

Method 2: There may be a problem with the USB port. Try connecting to a different USB port. If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after plugging the cable in a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.

Method 3: Check the manufacturer of the device for support if the device is still unable to display.

  • XPS 8700 Fax / Data modem not recognized after mode 'sleep'

I have an internal modem installed pci-e.  After the system goes into sleep mode, the modem is not recognized.  Resolution is to draw the pci-e card, restart the system, then stop again, re - install the Fax/data modem and it is recognized, until the system goes into sleep or stop mode.

How can I keep the device recognition, didn't have to pull on the map and re-insert/install whenever I start?

When I look at the Device Manager after the mode standby or shutdown, the device will display hidden and not connected to the system.

System BIOS is updated to the current 10 A

Always include the version of Windows in your messages.

You may need to change sleep settings and possibly disable hybrid sleep by using the Windows power options, and/or adjust the power options in the BIOS Setup.

  • Portege R700-17Z bios not recognizing USB devices

    Hello

I'm after some advice on a problem I'm having with my R700, I can't get the laptop to recognize USB hard drives start-up stage. I am trying to use Acronis to create an image that I have 40 of these laptops.

The CD-ROM USB CD drive is recognized and is therefore a Corsair USB pen (which is unfortunately not large enough), but I have three hard drives USB (a Freecom Tough Drive, Buffalo MiniStation and Western Digital passport) and none of them are recognized by the BIOS. Legacy USB emulation is enabled.

    Am I missing something?

    Thank you, Karen

    Hello

The BIOS does not support * USB HDD * as a boot device. Any reader USB CD/DVD or USB stick is bootable USB devices.

  • USB ports power your equipment, but not recognizing devices

I started my pc yesterday (21/02/10) - for the first time since the incident of the blue death screen has resolved on 10/02/10 (see 'recent history of the problem' below). I got a screen that says "volume dirty cleaning in 3 steps" or something like that. Subsequently, the windows starts fine but the USB ports stopped working.

All 3 USB ports are now fueling your equipment (confirmed by my laptop fan) , but none of them give me access to any external devices as my flash drives.

Note: I didn't say "" do not recognize devices "and instead said"give me no access to devices "because when I plug in my flash drive, it is profiled as a material published by ususal Display icon at the bottom right of the taskbar." Of more when I try to eject the material, the flash drive appears as "Kingston Data Traveller". It's simply not let me access the flash player - instead when I click on the flash player icon (drive F :) it asks me to format the drive before using.) But then when I am trying to format it says that "windows cannot format the device."

[Please note that the USB ports are all works perfectly between these two dates.] In addition, I did not any changes, hardware or software, recently. ]

Recent history of problems (might be useful):

I got a blue screen of death problem 2 weeks after I had installed Windows XP updated 09/02/10. I could solve this problem by uninstalling all the following patches: KB978262, KB971468, KB978037, KB975713, KB978251, KB978706, KB977165, KB975560 KB977914. After that I do not start my PC, until yesterday. It is the problem of the USB to start.

    Hello
) not a bad answer, but a lot of work and you can make mistakes
make a sfc/scannow, as indicated here that it will reinstall missing and corruption of files http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html I also noticed in your answer "dirty volume in 3 steps of cleaning" is you have using a kind of cleansing software registry cleaner etc. Registry cleaners that aren't much good for the most part and they will mess up your computer...
If you do not use a cleaner that get some anti malware software download and run
    I left and use http://www.malwarebytes.org/

  • Sierra Fax Modem not recognized

I have a USRobotics USB 5637 model who disappeared from my selection of printers after installing Sierra.

Apple dropped support for fax modems in the Sierra.

  • Qosmio X 770 display not recognized anymore

I just purchased a Qosmio x 770 a month ago and one day when I started it was login screen.
In linux has left me in the command prompt and said that no configuration screen has been found.
Windows said nothing, but the screen remains black.

After a number of reboots, it worked normally but only for a few hours.
Plugged into an external monitor, it works.

Also when I boot failure (or failsafe) mode it works (I want to say I can get into windows/linux, resolution 640 x 480).
I have updated the bios to version 1.30. What else to try?

It's really uncomfortable to send it because I need it for my work (even connected to another monitor).
My hope is that the problem is not hardware related and somehow I can solve it.

    Is there a chance?

    Thank you!

    > After a number of reboots, it worked normally but only for a few hours.
    > Is connected to an external monitor works.

If you are able to use the laptop as part of the external screen?
My first thought was that this could be a graphics card problem. But if the external monitor works properly, then the GPU (graphics card) should be ok.

I think that there is something wrong with the graphics card driver
Try to reinstall the driver and check if that helps.

  • Toshiba 1 TB drive external DRIVE not recognized anymore

    Hello

I recently bought a HARD Toshiba 1 TB drive that my Qosmio G50 now refuses to recognize.

Anyone know if I would be able to open it and put the hard drive into one of these sata hdd docking stations I've seen announced?

The hard drive contains about 500 GB of movies, etc.
These I need access ASAP, so I don't want to go to the trouble of sending it back to the seller and expects a return, as well as all of the rigmarole that goes with it.

    Kind regards...

    Hello

You can try to open the external HARD disk enclosure, but you shouldn't t forget that then you will lose the warranty.
    So think about it!

In your case, I would like to send the HARD drive to a service provider authorized. Then you can fix.

Data on the external HARD disk enclosure but normally should not be stored on the external HARD disk enclosure. I have my data stored on the laptop and an external HARD drive.

    Hi Pam,.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

The external hard drive is not detected.

The problem may occur if the drive letter is not affected or the hard drive is not enabled.

What is the model of the unit?

To check if the drive letter is affected or if the disk is turned on, I suggest you follow the steps in the site:

  • USB keyboard not recognized on USB 2.0 Ports

    Hello, I have a dell inspiron 3521.

    It has:

    2 USB 2.0 ports.

    2 USB 3.0 ports.

Whenever I connect my USB keyboard to any port 2.0, it is not recognized.

Instead, it is shown in the unknown devices section.

Earlier, when I had problems with the host VMWare keyboard driver, I had disabled, uninstalled, deleted ad form pilot system via the Device Manager.

Then the keyboard worked until you restart.

Now, it is not recognized on all USB 2.0 ports, but works perfectly in a USB 3.0 port.

    I tried the following:

Uninstalled the USB drivers and restarted the system.

Tried to update the driver software (all Device Manager).

Tried with another keyboard, but it does not work either.

    What should I do next?

    Please suggest me some solutions.

  • The SanDisk Ultra Plus 64 GB sdxc card memory not recognized by PC even if PC shows these letters to front

SanDisk memory card Ultra Plus sdxc 64 GB not recognized by PC even if PC shows these letters on the front of the hard drive. From time to time I can get it to recognize the memory card but mostly not. Then I manually to the top of my camera (Canon T3i) onto the PC and make my photos to the PC camera is very heavy! Does anyone have this problem? I can't find anything online that answers my question. TYIA solution to anyone.

Simple solution is to buy one of these small memory card readers.  Costs about $5.  Plug the memory card on it.  Plug it into a USB port.

If still not recognized, the memory card must be reformatted or replaced.
