    Hello

    Its hardware problem or software.
Start the laptop in safe mode means that some essential software process would be disabled and the system would use only a few basics of essential equipment.

So even if the laptop runs correctly in safe mode, it could be a hardware problem.

That's why I think only with the help of HARD drive recovery would be the best way to know what's wrong here...

    Hello!

You need to install SATA drivers before you install Windows and if you have compatible SATA mode you t need SATA drivers but you have lost performance a bit.

So I want to reinstall Windows in AHCI mode, you need to download the Toshiba Storage Manager (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com).
Copy the driver on an external floppy drive and press F6 after starting the laptop to CD or create your own installation with nLite (http://www.nliteos.com/) disc.

Having had my Satellite A300-1BZ for a couple of years now, I found myself suddenly bored standard vista themes and started playing with change them. (I was after a ultimate black watch with change start menu and buttons etc.)

In any case cut to the Chase, I went wrong somewhere with VistaGlazz through to replace something like shell32.dll
As it said in the readme file I changed it to shell32.dll.bak

My computer has continued to run fine until I ran a reboot. After that, I got after the log on screen was a blue screen with a mouse.

Luckilly I have an iphone so managed to get on internet forums and find a solution which was to use a command in cmd.exe that fixed the problem.

The only thing is now that I have a very basic windows Classic theme that when I try to change to Vista in the theme settings it gives the message:
    * "the theme could not load. %1 is not a valid win32 application. "

Any help and step by step for the user base would be much appreciated! I guess it can't be that bad since Windows is still running and working properly!

    Thank you

    Hi tarmacsnortingmonster,

That is the reason why I n t play with any 3rd themes part because I always read from time to time on various problems after installation. So I don't use Windows themes pre-installed and don t have problems.

In any case, I think you should try a system restore to an earlier point before installing this theme.
I hope this helps if not it is time to reinstall Windows, I think that :(

  • Satellite P300 - white screen after waking from sleep state

    I'm having this problem:
The LCD screen may be empty when the computer is "awakened" from the sleep state. Nothing is visible on the internal LCD or an external monitor.

There seems to be a solution:
An update of the firmware for a component in the main circuit of the computer solves this problem. This update must be performed by an authorized Toshiba (ASP) Service provider. Until arrangements are made for the update, restart the computer by pressing the power on button for a few seconds.

If you check the Toshiba document you would see that your Satellite P300 is not related to this issue.

In your case I would recommend upgrading the BIOS and graphics driver.
In addition to keep your operating system up-to-date.

I had this problem under Win XP and a MS patch and an update of the graphics card driver helped solve this problem.

  • Satellite A300-1BZ running slow

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite A300-1BZ and I am not very happy as the laptop seems to be very slow...
I'm used to a 3 years old is not very powerful laptop and my new Satellite is most of the time slower.

For example just to log in a 'normal' Web page processors must run at least 60% to 70% and keep this speed even just to keep the page running...
    Is this normal?
I would have immagined such a new machine to be much better...

Someone else has the same problem?

Please let me know I think of sending this laptop back...

    Thank you
    AD

I agree with Joey please don t forget an important fact. You use the Vista.
Been to Vista specs and details?

This new Microsoft OS is a monster. He eats the material resources and therefore you feel a slow performance.
In addition, your laptop was equipped with different features and installed after many different applications that control functions.
All programs running in the background s Vista and generally, they use a portion of the CPU performance too.
All this can affect the performance of notebooks.

So please don t compare this laptop with older laptops because most of these older machines is not equipped with the same characteristics and the same software!

  • Satellite A300-1BZ - 2nd location on hard disk?

    Hi friends

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I don't post under the good discussion!

First of all, I wanted to know if a 2nd HARD drive can be added to my Satellite A300-1BZ (PSAJ4E-03L016KS)?

If this is not possible, no one knows what is the largest (gigabytes) compatible HARD drive that can be installed on this laptop?

Finally if one of the above options is available to what type of disc HARD would I have to install (size) & I would be limited to the use of a mark of toshiba HDD?

    Any comments would be appreciated!

AFAIK the A300 supports SATA HDD and usually there is no limit!

Theoretically, you can use all the available 2.5 SATA hard drives.

  • White screen after log-in

I have a white screen after login, but it lasts for about 30 seconds my desktop appears.  Any ideas?

I ran Microsoft Security Scanner and everything out very well.  I have McAfee Anti-virus works as well.

    Hello LA_Hay,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

A problem with the card installed on your system, might be a major cause of the problem. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If you do not have the white screen in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If the problem persists, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

    Update your graphics card.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then, under System, click the Managerof peripheral . If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of hardware categories, find the display adapters and select the device driver you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
    3. Click the driver tab, click Update driver, and then follow the instructions. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

For more information, visit the below mentioned link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

If you are not able to update the device driver via windows update, you can visit your computer or graphics card manufacturer's Web site and download & install the latest driver.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • Satellite A300-114 - not reinitate after that screen stops

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-114 running Windows Vista Home Premium.
It worked well until two weeks, now, after some time of inactivity, the screen goes off and it turns on again. Spots bright disk hard but the screen remains black. This becomes more often.

Does anyone have the idea, what the problem?

    Thanks :)

    Hi jjginga,

Have you tried an external monitor to your laptop computer? It's interesting because if you can identify if this is related to the internal screen or graphics card.

I had a similar problem on my laptop that the internal screen was black, only the outer one worked. The solution was replacing FL inverter or screen internal.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.
