Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA: how to install Win XP as 2nd OS

Hey any reader for the first time and shows for the first time.
My comp is the Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02U010

You 2 questions, hopefully someone can help me with.

The issue of the first: like many people, I hate Vista.
How can I run XP as a second OS that don't live my warranty?

2. the volume level is not very strong (sound) when you watch a DVD etc. I tried different settings, and every time I do I have to restart to take effect, which is a pain that vista is slow to restart. I have downloaded the driver, but noticed that it is exactly the same as what is installed already :(

See you soon

> How can I use as a second OS XP who don't live my warranty?
Installing programs or operating system would not avoid the warranty!
You can install the Win XP as second OS without fear.

But before install you anything, I would recommend the Toshiba recovery disc creation!

With regard to the sound:
As far as I know the parameters which are changes in the player are not not in trouble. You must increase the volume of every time when you start the software again.
But have you tested different actors? For example, VLC player is a simple and free tools.
I recommend to test

  • Satellite A300-1J1 - how to install 2nd HARD drive?

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A300 and I see in the workbook loads it is possible to add a 2nd hard drive. So I bought one and when I opened the box of hard drive, I have not found a connector to connect to my hard drive. I think I have to install a SATA connector, but I have not found a way to proceed.

    Thank you

PS: Excuse me if you find mistakes, I don't speak very well

    Hey,.

If there is no second SATA connector on the motherboard it s not possible to install 2nd HARD drive because you can t add such a motherboard connector.

As far as I remember there are other threads on A300 and 2nd drive HARD here in the forum and the point is that all A300 using the same case for laptop, but the mothers are different. So you can have a 2nd HARD drive Bay but not connector.

  • Satellite A200 PSAE3E - how to install Win XP

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba A200 / PSAE3 - E.
It came with vista home pre installed.
I lost the recovery CD of vista and had problems with windows and therefore now load XP.

I understand the 2 options that I can use to install XP on a SATA drive, however the two options help me much.

    # I see not all SATA settings in my BIOS (BIOS V5.6 / Phoenix TrustedCore). I played with most of the options, but still get a message "Setup has not found any hard drive" at the start of the installation of XP.

    # I was told to get an external floppy drive and download the SATA drivers. I did and downloaded "Intel Matrix Storage Manager - 7.5.0.1017", where I found a directory in there like 'F6flpy '. This directory contains 4 directories (ICH7M_32bit, ICH7M_64bit, ICH8M_32bit & ICH8M_64bit). I copied each one contained in 4 different disks. I thought "ICH7M_32bit" will work and it gave me the option to install the diving (Intel 82801GMB SATA AHCI Controller / Mobile ICH7M/DH) and I could even partition the disk after pressing F8 on the XP installation program.

More I was also able to format the drive, but immediately after the message "in I get a message 'Insert the disk labeled Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver in drive A. press ENTER when ready'." I keep on pressing on enter, but the system even dose not attempt to read drive A (possibly the USB is disabled at this point?)

Please let me know if anyone has a solution for me to upgrade the BIOS or download recovery DVDs full or run XP Setup another way.

    Kind regards

    > More I was also able to format the drive, but immediately after the message "in I get a message 'Insert the disk labeled Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver in drive A. press ENTER when ready'." I keep on pressing on enter, but the system even dose not attempt to read drive A (possibly the USB is disabled at this point?)

This notification appeared because you formatted the partition or HARD drive where the SATA drivers were stored. The operating system therefore ask again for the SATA drivers.
The point is that you shouldn't t format the HARD drive after than SATA drivers have been installed.

But why you don t use the nLite. It s free tool that allows you to include files in Win XP disk SATA
So you should be able to format the HARD drive because the SATA drivers are placed on the Win XP disc ;)

  • Impossible to install Vista on Satellite A300 PSAGCE - not ACPI compliant

    Hello

I'm recovering the laptop from a friend.
He has installed Windows XP on its Satellite A300 PSAGCE and concluded that of course XP 32-bit Windows does not support the full functionality of the laptop.

Now I wanted to reinstall Vista that came with it. I have two recovery DVD but when I wanted to start them (them two DVDs) I always get the error message that the system is not fully ACPI-compatible.

Now of course this laptop should work with Vista and the provided restore DVD should work as well, no?
I tried to download a Bios nw, but it seems 1.10 is the most recent.

I also can't find all the ACPI settings in the BIOS that I could activate.

    Could someone help me?
It is really urgent and driving me crazy!

    Thank you!

    Hello

Strange! Usually, if you have created the DVD recovery Toshiba using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator then everything should work correctly and you should be able to install Vista on this A300!

I put t know if you have changed something in the BIOS or elsewhere, but you should access the BIOS and should define the default settings.
Then try to boot from the recovery DVD Toshiba again.

    Good luck

First by Satellite A300 - PSAGCA-0C301N did not come on the European Internet site when I update the drivers... there PSAGCE...

    I am running on the assumption that A = Australia & E = Europe.
Can someone clarify this for me.

The computer worked fine with Vista but since put Win 7 Ultimate here he sometimes gets the blue screen.
It was a clean place do not install an upgrade

He can go for a week without a problem, and then I'll have 5 blue screens in one day.
All the drivers came to the site of the European

I have 4 GB of RAM
    No devices are connected
    WiFi is always enabled
Usually connected to the power supply

If anyone can help to direct me to a solution I would be eternally grateful

    See you soon

    > I am running on the assumption that A = Australia & E = Europe.
    > Can anyone clarify this for me.

You are right that the last digit or the letter designates the region. Then E means Europe and Australian way.

It s an Australian series for Toshiba laptop and, therefore, you need to download the drivers from Toshiba Australian page

The BSOD may be a result of not fully compatible drivers

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA-03C010 - downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello

I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered :)

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 (model PSAGCA-03C010) in October 08. It came with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista Home Premium.

Initially, using Vista was not too bad, but it happened at a point now where his things slows down and is really frustrating. Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.

First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?

Also, I am concerned about the Wi - fi, bluetooth, finger scan and HDMI applications - will this work with XP?

Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?

Thanks in advance and again once, apologies if these qns have already answered in other posts (im not too technical).

    > I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered
In many cases, these questions have been answered already and you might find useful views by using the Advanced ;) search option

    > Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.
Tools and Vista drivers are not compatible with Win XP. If you want to install Win XP and want to use all the features of the laptop you must make sure that the Win XP drivers are available for this model of laptop.

Satellite A300 PSAGCA seems to be an Australian model. The drivers are placed here:
    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au

I checked this and found a few tools and drivers for this device.

    > First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?
No, you can not use it because it belongs to the Vista operating system preinstalled on your laptop.

    > Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?
Yes, the recovery disk allows to reverse the laptop back to factory settings.
You will get the same as on the first day of purchase

  • Satellite A300-1MC is slow using Win XP

I recently spent 400 odd quid on this laptop.
Hated Vista and installed XP Pro.

However, I find when I get my screen 'connect' on XP, my office rises and it takes 10 years before you can start applications like Firefox, etc (hourglass, etc.). In fact its probably the same speed as my old Satellite 1900 d (which is 8 years old). But once it loads its fast 'enough' fast but not lightning.

I've defragged after countless updates of windows and it seems to be faster. But still very disappointed. Any thoughts?
Virus scanner is Mcafee Total internet

I also played with 'start-up' thru MSCONFIG and got rid of things I don't need, but always without success.

The A300 is really that slow? I don't have any normal office and questionable applications 2003 as mentioned above McAfee

Any advice on the deactivation of some files that I need that is the Toshiba system that could possibly slow down?

    Hello

I wonder how you installed Win XP?
Did you change the SATA mode on compatible? Yes?

Well, then this is the reason why the laptop is ruining more slowly than expected!

If you want to get full implementation of HARD drive, then the SATA mode must be set to AHCI and you must install Win XP using SATA drivers!

  • Can I use European 2.1 BIOS update for Satellite A300 PSAGCA?

    Hello

    My toshiba's Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02Y010, bought in September 2008.
I want BIOS update latest version 2.10 for windows 7, but in the Web of Toshiba-NZ site, I can only find the version 1.9, I find 2.10 for A300 Toshiba Europe, but Europe models are all different from NZ.

My question is: could I use this BIOS 2.10 europe in my toshiba A300 nz? Thank you.

    Hello

I would not recommend using a BIOS that is not released for your laptop model.
There are a lot of different series for laptop on the market.

You must use the BIOS that is designed exactly for the portable model!
As you know, the BIOS update is a reasonable process and can damage the ROM chip using BIOS wrong!

  • How to install Win 7 on a Win 10 computer which doesn't have a CD player

I bought a new laptop of Lenovo win 10, but I can't not treat Win 10 so I bought a copy of Win 7 and want to install it but I don't have a CD player.  How to install Win 7?  I tried to look at the oem site but nothing seems to match back to Win 7, they all assume I'm going to Win 10, that I certainly do not.

Otherwise I'll have to return the laptop because I don't live with Win 10, it takes too long to learn all the new shit and I'm not all media social hype apps that came with it.

The first thing you need to do is to check if there is no Windows 7 driver for your model of Lenovo.

I recommend also to dual boot, instead of decommissioning.

In addition, downgrade rights are limited to systems that are preinstalled with Windows 10 Pro OEM. Other editions need to provide your own disc of Windows 7.

There are ways you can download and create a bootable copy of the edition of Windows 7 you have.

Option 1: Microsoft Windows and Office ISO download tool - HeiDoc.net

    then

If your computer is UEFI, they are normally the systems that come pre-loaded with Windows 8 or later, you need prepare the ISO for such a configuration file or you will receive an error during installation. The USB key must be formatted in FAT32 and use the GPT partitioning scheme. To do this, you must use Rufus, a small tool that you can download for free.

    Rufus - credit: Pete bastard/Akeo

    After installing Rufus:

    • Launch it
    • Select the ISO Image
    • Point to the file ISO for Windows 10
    • Check create a disk bootable using
    • Select GPT partitioning to EUFI firmware as the Partition scheme
    • Choose FAT32 NOT NTFS as file system
    • Make sure that your USB in the device list
    • Click Start
    • Close when you are finished
