  Optical drive on my Satellite C850-1MC is malfunctioning.

  The drive made all the right noises and will show the CD coming in the my computer window, it will show the different tracks of audio CD but with only 1 KB of data showing and will not play any of the tracks.

  Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

  Dude, this isn't question of CD/DVD drive

  I guess you see the files with .cda extension
  These files are not real audio files, but this is the format used to encode the music on all commercial compact discs.
  Unfortunately, the computer cannot store files in CDA format.
  These audio files must be converted to another format by using the converter of 3rd party software

  First remove the main battery from the laptop does not reset the BIOS!
  To me, it sounds really strange that you should always just the battery to start the device.

  Also the sound you mentioned in your post seems to come from a piece of internal material (cooling event, drive HARD or maybe CPU?) and not speakers.

  I continued to use IE with no problems printing. But then after Firefox 3.0 came out I gave it another go - and the problem seems to have been resolved. No matter how much time I spend in another tab and select print, it behaves as it should. Thank God - Firefox is so much better than IE.

  I installed a new custom application on a Linux server. I followed exactly the steps on Metalink Note: 70276.1.
  
  The problem is that I get the message "function is not available in this responsibility. It seems that something wrong is with regard to the path of the functions/forms...
  BUT,
  After I put the custom variable env XXTEST and restart the application... server that issues the command:
  echo $XXTEST dir that points to is displayed as expected...
  In addition, all directories (void) and all forms (fmx and fmb thus) have the privs "rwx" for all users and groups of users.
  BasePath declared this custom application registration is identical to that stated in the custom EPS file that is called when the base apps env file comes from.
  
  I tried to copy all the files of fmx in custom, application files (for all lang installed) and change the info from basepath_top of this new custom application. The result was successful... I mean I launches the all-new custom appl (all forms) under an other custom folders...
  
  Do you have any idea what may be wrong...?

  What you can do is to check the list of installed programs in Control Panel > programs and features and check if the BT software is listed. Otherwise I think that your laptop is not BT
  Another way to check is to use the FN + F8 key combination and see if there is option for WLAN only or BT is also offered. Laptop with BT have WLAN option only.

  If you want to use BT with your laptop, you can buy the small stick USB BT, install the BT software and you will posibiity to connect external devices with yout laptop with BT connection.

  I m wondering how you use the function keys.
  As far as I know you can use the function keys in the traditional two keys FN key combinations, or you can press only F (F1 - F9).
  This option can be changed in the BIOS (-> Advanced tab of the system configuration) or in the HWSetup utility.

  To solve the problems of WiFi:
  I recommend you update the WLan driver first.

• Satellite A300-1MC - CD player does not read any disk

  I have a brand new A300-1MC, old so probably not a malfunction already 5 days only!

  Yesterday I have it configured my printer and camera, no problem at all when playing the discs. However, tonight the CD player is not just reads any disc, have tried everything from a DVD on a music CD.

  I'm not too hot with the computer stuff but hoping that someone out there will be able to help and hoping it's something really simple! Did a scan for virus, just in case, but nothing appeared.
